Band is coming out and revision to be done

Recommended Posts

I had my band done in March and already it has to come out, to say the least I'm a little upset! Especially considering I'm self pay and I will be having 2 surgeries within 9 months. I tore my port away from the stomach wall so I had my choice of repairing it or doing the sleeve, so sleeve here I come!!!

I started out loving my band and being able to work with it but it got harder and harder as it went on. I couldn't eat and if I did, it would not stay down. If I was even slightly upset about anything not even Water would stay down. I tell you this has been a bad dream. And I did everything I was supposed to do.

Anyway I'm going back to Tijuana to see my surgeon again. My surgery is scheduled for Wednesday!! So sleeve life here I come.

Wish me luck!

Bernadette

Just wondering how it went. I hope it went well. I am thinking that eventually I am going to have to do the same thing.

Hi there

I'm 3 weeks out and I LOVE the sleeve!!! I can't even begin to tell you how different it is fro the band! Night and day, I can eat!! I have not had one ounce of trouble and I lost 15 more lbs!!! If you do a revision, you will love, love, love it!! The only change is that you can not over eat! With my band most of the time I could not eat without being sick, when I could eat I had no indication of when to quit. With the sleeve you will get an indication of when you are full. I get a tight feeling in my chest, if i keep going that feeling turns into an actual pain!! Plain and simple, I quit eating.

LOVE my sleeve!!

I am glad to hear that it is going so great. I am the same way. Either I can't eat or drink at 2.5 cc or I can eat as much as I want a 2.0 cc. Right now I am at 2.0 cc and I think I am maintaining. I seem to go up and down about 2 lbs. I was suppose to go back for another fill but I know they are going to want to give me .5 cc and I just dont want to have to have another unfill. I am going to give it another week and give it another try (Going away for a long weekend and just dont want to be throwing up). Maybe I can talk the doc into just give me .2 cc but you know how difficult that can be. All I can do is hope.

I hope all continues to go well for you. Good luck and happy loosing.

Wow, you sure answered a lot of my questions!

When I was banded 10/07, the surgeon suggested gastric saying that if the band didn't work out, all he would be able to do is the sleeve--and I've never read of anyone who had that done yet--so congrats to you and your success so far with the sleeve!

Just found out I have a leak in my band, so I'm looking at either having the tubing replaced or the band itself--but at least now I know that my final alternative is such a great one--thanks again for posting!:)

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.
