4 yr bandster de-lurking

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone. I was banded in 1/06 and have been reading this wonderful message board for quite some time. I just wanted to come out of hiding and say "hi" and I hope to become more active in this forum. Thanks to everyone who contributes... you are really helping people by sharing your stories.

WOW! What an accomplishment! I do hope you'll stay around & motivate us! How is maintenance vs. losing? I've already begun to experience the struggle with no one complimenting me anymore, and no weight losses to motivate me to lose more . .

Wow Riley, you have done exceptionally well.

I started my journey in June with my first consult weigh in. I am working to be at my goal by mid summer. When I see people like yourself I just know I can do it!

thanks!

Hi Riley. I had to get unfilled a teeny bit (.25 ccs from a 4cc band was taken out) so I wouldn't keep losing! I weigh myself every morning to keep on top of my weight, some people say don't do that, but I want to make sure I don't lose anymore and don't gain either... so I find it's important for me to weigh every day. I just take it one day at a time and try to eat nutritiously, avoid the sweets... the band can be finnicky... so I have to just roll with it! Looks like you are doing great yourself!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.
