I was banded on 12/11, and am doing well for the most part -- incisions all look good, no redness, etc. But for the last two or three days, I've had some pain at my port/incision sight. It's a sharp pain, like something is pulling. I did a lot of housework for the holidays, but I don't recall any one specific moment when I thought -- uh oh, I think I hurt myself.

Should I be concerned about this? Is it normal to have port pain? And if so, how long can I expect this to last? Will it go away? Should I phone my doctor (not that anyone is in until Monday)?

I was under strict guidelines about not picking up anything over 10 lbs for 2 weeks, then 15 lbs for 2 more.

I'd err on the side of caution and call your doctors office, I'm sure there is an on call physician or answering service.

But for now stop moving around so much. I was even told no running the vaccuum (back and forth motion).

I also have that pain near my port. I have been wondering what it was. I did begin lifting weight sooner than recommended (I have a 11 month old baby--24 lbs). I was banded on 12/8 and will go in for my fill on 1/4. I am definitely going to inquire about this sharp pain. I'll let you know what the doctor says.

The port is sewn into the muscle in your stomach so it's bound to be more sore and take more time to heal. I would also caution doing to much until your healed.

I am still quite sore there and it's been 6 weeks.

Thanks -- I was also on restricted activity for 2 weeks, with no exercise for 4 weeks. I was good for the first two weeks, but I guess I didn't think of exercise in terms of climbing ladders to dust chandeliers and moving furniture about the better to mop under it.

I think I will call them on Monday. Chances are it's nothing to be too worried about, but better safe than sorry. Thanks again!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
