When does the weakness end? Some hope...?

Recommended Posts

I was banded 9 days ago and although the aches are

mostly gone I still feel so weak.

I take a shower and I'm ready for a nap.

How am I ever gonna exercise if I can't even

fold my clothes without feeling like I

need to lie down afterwards?

:)

Tell me it passes pretty soon.

Ugh...

I am now allowed to add creamy Soups and my Vitamins to my diet,

but that hasn't given me the boost I thought it would.

When does the light begin to shine?

hi voodoo-

I was banded dec 15th and today is my 9th day. I have to say my energy picked up when I got to the full liquids on day 6. I got Traders Joes black been Soup (its pureed already) and added a scoop of unflavored Protein powder. It took an hour to get 5ozs down but it did wonders for me! Another thing that helped while on Clear Liquids is having two Soups brought to me from my fav restaurant, I strained them and it was the best thing I have ever tasted. Right away I felt some normalcy.

I have also been working on not napping, on Monday I had 2 short naps during the day, Tuesday just 1 and none on Wednesday and none so far today.

I'm taking it easy and not overdoing it by any means but I'm staying awake:smile:

It takes some people longer to shake off the effects of being put to sleep during surgery. The energy will come. Are you drinking your Protein? The protein is what will give you the energy and also help with the Hair loss (if you have any). Just be patient and it will get better. Try to walk as much as you can also.

:wub:It does take a little bit longer than expected. I'd be the same way .. exhausted after walking to the mailbox. But it does get better. I'd say about 3 weeks I felt better... not exhausted and sore but not in pain.

Chin up!

I was banded about the same time as you, but I was allowed to start eating real food at 4 days post-op so that may make a difference. I feel like I'm running at about 80% right now. I have learned that the more I pick stuff up off the ground or stoop and reach, then the faster I get tired (and my port site starts to ache). So, I've been either asking my kids or husband to do as much of this stuff for me as possible or if I see something on the floor, I just leave it. LOL Anything I can do at waist level standing up does not wear me out as fast. So, I ask my husband to get the clothes out of the dryer and bring them to me, then I fold them, then I ask him to put them away. If I need a roll of paper towels from under the sink, I ask one of my kids to crawl down there to get it for me. I've been making them dustbuster under their own chairs now too and have them get me tupperware when I need it too because it is on the lowest shelf in my kitchen.

OK, but another thing that makes a big difference to me is just taking breaks when I need them (force yourself to sit down and recharge throughout the day) and force yourself to go to bed early and get a full night's sleep (8+ hours). My hardest days were the days when I shortchanged my sleep. I think sleep is the time when your body heals the most.

Oh I feel your pain. I had very low energy for about 2 weeks, the third week I felt good and now my 4th week I am back to normal. Its going to be a tough first month if you are anything like me, the worse part was the low energy and the gas, the runs!

It took me about 14 days, once I started mushies. Your body is trying to recover from surgery and to add on top of that your reduction of calories. I thought the exact same thing but it does end.

I had the worst post-op diet I've seen here...3 weeks of Clear Liquids with 3 glasses of skim milk a day...I was so weak by the third week I was ready to cry. I started FULL liquids two days early (yes, I cheated)...some things just make no common sense. I started feeling better the more calories I got in...try some high cal. cream Soups with some pureed meat added. Best wishes! -BG

That is the same day I was banded and yes I am right there with you I also feel exhausted and just after taking a shower and getting dressed I feel like I want to go back to bed for another 8 hours but I do notice my energy coming back slowly but surely In fact I might even take my dog for a walk this afternoon to see if just a little bit of exercise helps Hang in there I am sure in a few weeks we will have more energy than we have had in years!!!

if you eat right, and exercise, in a few weeks you will feel great. I have had my band 35 days and feel great.... Went for a 4.5 mile walk today... It was terrific.

You will feel the difference.

Good luck...

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Am feeling this right now. My surgery date is 4/1. Sign the consent tomorrow. I feel like I overloaded myself with too much info, too many opinions. Got to the point where I was wondering if I should do this. Then I thought of my reasons for taking this step and that settled my nerves. Still get moments of doubt but am striving forward. Am just going to follow my book from the surgeon. Joined this because I was told by my dietician that I should do this for support
