7 weeks postop and I have restriction! I went in for my appointment yesterday afternoon and the tech took the Fluid out of my band because there was some question as to whether or not I really had 6 cc's in there. We find out there is but since I don't have any restriction at all, she decided to pop 2 more cc's into the band. I now have 8 cc and restriction!

She did ask if that was ok since it might cause me to only be able to drink Protein Shakes through Christmas if I had any swelling from the fill (which I haven't had on the previous 2 fills), but that's ok with me!

Last night and this morning I can feel the restriction as I drink my shakes. I have to drink them slowly and I can feel that some of it is still sitting in my pouch. I have a feeling that eating solid food would be difficult but we'll see if this is just swelling and will abate or whether I actually need a bit less fill.

Neither of us had a problem with the idea that I might be so restricted that shakes are the only option for now as long as I can deal with it and not be hungry...which I never am.

I have an appointment on Jan 13th, but can always go in sooner if I need to, but for now I'm content. I may not be eating for Christmas, but I'll be losing weight!

Not exactly sure if I'm at my sweet spot yet but think I'm close anyway. This is what is happening. I have 7.5ccs, can drink anything w/o any discomfort but a few tiny bites of food will cause pain in the chest. Sometimes, I will slime with the pain and sometimes not. The only thing I can eat comfortably some of the time, is scrambled eggs with some cheese and a bite or two of baked chicken. I can eat Wheat thins and Fiber One Cereal and green Beans.

Should I be concerned? DO I have too much in band or not quite enough?

Lolly if you are sliming and experiencing chest pain that is the definition of too tight. Being tight increases your chances of erosion and you should call the doctor's office the day they open and let them know so they can schedule a slight unfill for you, stat.

I know because I was exactly where you are from October to December 22nd and though I had terrific weight loss, that is no way to live and not worth losing my band and health in the long run.

Elfie, Hope you are where you want to be. My swelling has gone down now and I will need a slight fill. We knew that I probably would. I will make an appt on Monday and go in sometime next week to get a top off. Good Luck and Merry Christmas.

Lolly,

If you're taking small bites and chewing thoroughly and eating slowly, and you still can't eat most foods, then it sounds like you may need a bit of an unfill...maybe .5 cc.

I'm where you are right now, but am waiting to see if it's swelling from the fill or whether I may need to take out 'just a bit' because it's too tight.

I have to believe that the pain and sliming (again assuming you are eating slowly, taking small bites and chewing well) are an indication of a too tight band. We should be able to eat normally.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
