6 cc's seems very aggressive for your first fill, let alone any one fill at all. I hope that doesn't cause you any issues.

I feel better knowing that somebody else has 6cc on their first fill. I hope you have better restriction than I do! I just had my fill on Thursday and I don't feel ANY different. Don't get another until the end of January. I read that it can take up to 2 weeks to feel the effect of a fill....I wonder why that is?

Anyway, good luck. By the way, mine hurt too. The nurse poked around and couldn't get the needle in the port, so the doctor tried. I was like, "Ow...um...OW!!!!" And we pay them the big bucks, right!?!?!?!?B)

I have been banded for two years and three months and only have 8ccs in my band. Most of my fills have been between 1 and 2 ccs. Just got one yesterday for the first time in a year (that's a whole other story tho) I know what you mean about them hurting, my first two fills required multiple sticks and lots of digging. Only after being unsuccessful in getting the first one did we discover it was because my port had turned over. He could have dug for 6 years and got nothing. The second one was the same story! So now two port revision surgeries later I am happy to say that fills are no longer painful. I was in and out it 5 minutes yesterday! Good luck with you 6ccs, hope Santa gives you some restriction!

EXACTLY - even though it's the same basic process all of our journey's are different.

I had someone tell me my dr's an idiot.. umm k, I think I'll trust his degrees and thousands of surgeries and patients to your pixels on a screen.. LOL

Have a great day!

If I might respectfully interject an opposing viewpoint here ... I don't believe that sharing an opinion is nervy at all, especially on a site such as this, where we are all here to learn from each other.

Generally speaking, just because someone has a piece of paper on a wall, and has done thousands of surgeries does not necessarily mean he is not an idiot, or what have you. My doctor has a degree and has done thousands of surgeries -- but that doesn't mean that I shouldn't question him. I don't follow anyone blindly when it comes to my health.

Personally, if I share something about my experience that seems odd to someone else, and based on what they know about the process, they believe that I should question what I was experiencing, then I would want that person to tell me.

I wish someone had told me that my doctor IS an idiot before I chose him to do my surgery. I would have been much happier had I found a surgeon that I was more comfortable with, but I guess nobody wanted to appear "nervy" or rude?? B)

Just a couple of ducats to consider.

If u wanted me to know what u were going through Im pretty sure u would have shared ur opinion with me like u did in the 1st place. Lol I didnt think ur were rude but just because u didnt get what I got doesnt mean that mine was wrong. once again we all are different and we all have a story to tell. I did question my doc and thats what he usually start off with 6cc's-8cc's depending on the patient.... 2 each is on trust me its not that serious.B)

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
