I vomited lunch up this morning. Now, I can't eat or drink anything. I've beem slimming alll day. I even threw up chicken broth!!!!

Do you think I just irritated my stomach or think my band has slipped from the vomitting?

Anyone go through this? Any suggestions?

Ok if your still sliming things up after you vomitted then chances are whatever you ate is still covering your hole (gross as that sounds) whenever I would get stuck, I would wait like 3 hours later then try to drink but it would go down so slow or some would come back up so I knew that there was still food there. Give it about another hour or so then try to drink again, if you feel alot of pressure/pain where your port is then thats the food going thru (I know they tell you not to do this but for me sometimes I've had to do it - only twice tho) if it still comes back up, your still stuck. Either way wait a little while to drink, if after you attempt to drink you don't have any pain then it's gone thru

I don't think I still have some food stuck. I vomited several times today, and there wasn't anything left to vomit. Some stomach acidy foamy stuff came up. Later, I tried some chicken broth and threw it up and but, it was just liquid.< /p>

Once you vomit the area around the band swells. So even if the food passes it may feel and act like it is still stuck. Don't drink or eat anything until the morning when you can try some hot liquid. You should check in with your dr. in the morning even if this can pass just to be safe. I had a bad episode last week where I ended up not even being able to swallow my saliva because I threw up too many times. The next morning I could drink slowly and I only had liquid for 24 hours following this. The next day I moved on to mushies. I basically did an abbreviated version of the post op diet. Within 36 hours of the episode I was back to normal.

It can be scary but you should be alright. But with all things medical, check with your dr.

Let us know how you do.

Always check with your surgeon when this happens. It happened to me last week. Called my surgeon. It had been going on for a few days. Went in on Friday morning and they gave me a slight unfill. Then, I was on liquids for two days and now, all better. But, it is so important to ensure you have it taken care of so it doesn't get any worse.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
