My husband is awesome! Hooray for helpful spouses!

Recommended Posts

During my pre-op diet and now that I'm newly banded

my husband refuses to eat in front of me.

He cooks for himself and eats all of his meals down stairs.

Sometimes I ask him, "So, what did you eat for dinner? "

He always says something like,

"It was crap...tasted like ass."

And he says it totally seriously. LOL

After surgery he responded to every need never acting put out.

I love him but now I'm starting to worship him.

Anyone else have a spouse work pretty hard

to keep you comfortable during the tough phases?

Awww -- that is sweet.

And yes, my husband is also pretty awesome. He helped me make Soup and stock the freezer with individual portions of clear and full liquids and mushies prior to my surgery, helped with putting the house in order, and took a week off of work to dote on me. He changed my bandages every day, and even offered to sleep on the sofa if I thought it would help to have the bed to myself when I got home.

He also tried not to eat in front of me, but I've been very adamant that my friends and family should not change their eating habits because I've had surgery. My thoughts are, if I can get used to friends and family eating yummies around me, then later, when with people who do not know about my surgery (i.e.: at various business functions), I'll have more self control not to dive face first into an fatty appetizer tray.

After 50 years of marriage, I can say that my hubby is one of the best. He is very careful to take good care of me in lots of different ways. As I am getting more and more independant again, I will have to make sure that I don't shut him out. He needs to be needed sometimes.

My husband is a saint! I tell you, I was so sick after surgery, I had to have phenegran suppositories.. he even put them in for me LOL LOL! He is my biggest cheerleader. He has started charting all of his food just like i do, and he's even lost about 20 pounds! I couldn't have done it without him, and will be forever grateful to him for his love and support.

20 years of marriage here and still going strong with a wonderful nuturing caring husband like that. But, we had the talk before I was banded and I just didn't want him to have to change his life forever because of me. So, in the beginning he was so careful with me and worried about eating certain foods in front of me which was great but we kind of gradually moved into a phase where now, he eats what he wants and it doesn't bother me. I also cook for him and don't eat it. He takes it to work the next day for lunch or on the weekends he eats the remainder on Sunday. Works out fine and neither one of us has to go out of our way now. Hopefully, you will reach a happy medium that both of you don't have to work so hard at.

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
