Get some Benefiber from Walmart. It works well. When you can eat regular foods, eat a peeled apple everyday, Fiber-One Raisen Bran Clusters, and drink plenty of Water. Every once in awhile you might have to use a laxative also. I use MOM.

We have bowel movements because our body is getting rid of the waste from what we've eaten. Think about what you've eaten...or not eaten...over the last 6 days. If you're on a liquid diet, it would make sense not to have a bowel movement.

How often did you have a bowel movement prior to surgery because you won't have them as often as this now.

However, if it really bothers you, Dulcolax tablets work really well. On the rare occasions when I've needed it, these are the only things that work for me.

I had Constipation for the first three weeks of the liquid diet. Then, I guess my body adjusted because now its normal. I made sure I sipped Water all day, too.

Today I start pureed! Hooray!

Hahaha...not laughing at you, laughing with you....because on day 6 post op I produced, for lack of a better term, an M&M. That's all. But it was a sign of things getting moving again and by day 8 things were completely normal again. The combination of the anesthesia, pain killers, and lack of food with bulk are probably to blame. If you want to add Fiber, do so. Things will settle out soon, I betcha!

My surgeon recommends Miralax. Once a day. Again, not too much to eliminate considering there aren't any solids going in right now.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
