Logic says that when you get to your desired weight, you have some of the fill taken out of your band so you can eat more (which you'll need to do to maintain rather than lose).

I've never heard of anyone who had their band completely full. I tend to believe that if someone has a band that is entirely full, their doc/tech missed the port a few times and they don't actually have as much saline in there as everyone thinks.

Well, I'm walking proof that you can have a band overfilled. My port was never missed. I've had my band pressure checked, and I'm at the top but still within normal range measure. The doctor also pulled the saline out on a few occasions just to reassure me that I didn't have a leak. I do have small anatomy, and I'm not sure if this played a role, but I've never been a big meal eater, I just ate too much of the wrong type of food between meals.

As time passes, I can still get small fills, because the Fluid level goes down a bit naturally. Once I get to my goal, the doctor will take out a small amount of Fluid so that I will maintain my weight with a little bigger meals.

I would think that by the time you get close to full as the 10cc Lapband specs are written. You should have lost most of the weight or you have fallen back on slider foods. My doc di mone under the Flouro to check how much opening I had. I went from what looked like a river flowing down with 8.4 to very tight 8.8 only .4cc adjustment . I was banded 2 yrs ago and I am 10 lbs from goal, I eat very small amounts and they tend to keep me full feeling for at least 4-5 hours, rmember the Water or fluids at time when you are not eating a, of course after your time limits..

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
