What have I done to my band? Please pray for me.

Recommended Posts

Dear all,

I am sitting her consumed with guilt. I was banded 12/3/09 and have already eaten chocolate bars and chicken. I am supposed to only be moving to mushies today. (week 3 & 4) I was only supposed to be on full liquids for week 1 & 2. I simply have not done what I was supposed to do. So what have I done to my band? How do I get past this issue of being so hungry? How do I change my thinking? I am so afraid of failure but I know God is bigger than that! I just don't know how to get out of this predicament that I am in. I go to the surgeon today for a 2 week followup. I don't want to tell them this. I have lost 20 pounds already but it won't be for long, if I keep this up. I am also a very picky eater and that doesn't help. I need prayer please. I am very discouraged.

It sounds like you know what you need to do and what you need to be eating. Get on it! Stop cheating yourself and slowing down the healing process. This band only works when you make it work, otherwise it's useless.

I know you can do it! You sound like you want to and all you need was a kick in the pants to get you started :).

OH. And be completely honest with your surgeon and nutritionist! If they don't know you're struggling how are they supposed to help? Let them do their jobs!

Well, I will say that you didn't just jump on here and make a post .... you've read enough to know that you aren't the first one to be HUNGRY. There are people who were never on liquids post-op but started on mushy food immediately. I was on liquids for 10 days then mushy foods. So at your time our post-op, I was on mushy foods. Every doc's diet plan is different but I'm saying this as a way of supporting this statement: You probably didn't hurt anything. HOWEVER, you do need to talk to someone at your doc's office. They might go ahead and move you to mushy foods immediately to help with the hunger.

Now, having said that, let me confirm what you already know. You didn't expect it to be like this and not all doctors warn their patients that Bandster Hell WILL come along. But that's not a license to eat whatever the heck you want. I'm hoping you haven't made a diet of chocolate and chicken but have stuck mostly to your post-op diet. But talk to your dr or mutritionist or physician's assistant. You aren't the only on to make baad decisions and hopefully that can give you some peace of mind and some help.

Dont feel bad your not the only one, I myself was banded Dec 9th and the last few days i have been eating mashpotatos, and i took a lil piece of my 2yr olds chicken sand (not the bread) a piece of the meat. When I go back next week I am going to ask can I move on to mushies and maybe i can have some dressing for Christmas. GOODLUCk, i am down 15 lbs .

If it didn't hurt going down you probably did not hurt yourself but I would stick to thicker mushies that tend to be more filling. The truth is untill you get about three fills you will be able to eat bread and other things you shouldn't eat. The more fills you get the less your hunger is so you will feel better. Remember it is a slow process. Don't beat yourself up but try to be good and also try to get your exercise in, especially in the first year when your weight loss it at its fastest.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Am feeling this right now. My surgery date is 4/1. Sign the consent tomorrow. I feel like I overloaded myself with too much info, too many opinions. Got to the point where I was wondering if I should do this. Then I thought of my reasons for taking this step and that settled my nerves. Still get moments of doubt but am striving forward. Am just going to follow my book from the surgeon. Joined this because I was told by my dietician that I should do this for support
