I've had sinus drainage and it caused me to get so tight I had to have a small unfill. My doc told me to take robitussin DM MAX to help 'thin the drainage out' and it worked. Even when I don't have any symptoms but the drainage I take a dose and it really helps. The DM MAX has the same active ingredient as mucinex and doesn't cost as much. Hope this helps!

Hi:

My doc warned us that we could become extra tight if we had post nasal drip from a cold. He said to call to get a slight unfill if we got tight from a cold.

You might want to try having frequent hot beverages to help you through this tight time too.

Hope you feel better soon.

Sue

I'm lucky that I dont become problematically tight but I definitely tighten up with a cold.

The other thing I've noticed is that when I've caught anything viral, you know, that type of thing that starts with the chills and the aches and pains, I always get a BAD stomach ache now since banding. Its always one of my aches and I really cant eat. Not that you really want to when you feel like that, but I really cant. It just hurts.

And that time of the month of course. I often get a surprise PB once a month to let me know what to expect in a day or two.

I have a cold at the moment as well. The drainage seems to be the culprit of feeling yucky, nauseated and tight. I even had problems getting down a warm cup of tea. My appetite is less, which is good, but when I do eat everything feels "wierd". Can't describe it. It's almost like an ache, like I'm hungry, but if I eat, it's worse. I know I'm not hungry. Even my port hurts, but I think that's because I'm a little irregular since getting sick. Either that or it's from all the coughing. Not sure, but I do have consistant tummy aches.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
