  3. I got the call last week for my first consultation with my surgeon which is next Tuesday! I AM PUMPED! So.... I decided to start my own YouTube Channel called Mickel VSG. I uploaded my first video today talking about my background and my goals, and I am already starting on my second one which will be called VSG 101 History & Evolution which is born from all of the research that I have been doing for the past month and a half on the VSG. I hope to have it done tomorrow or the next day to help people know a little bit more about the history of the VSG and the latest information that I have gleaned from Doctors, books, videos, and other sources. Hope that you can come and visit me on my page and follow me on the Road to my VSG. I look forward to hearing from you. See you soon-
  4. Hey everyone! I just got my insurance approved yesterday and am scheduled for surgery on July 9th. My nutritionist is very thorough and gave me a lot of food tips, but am interested in following others who are further along in the journey. Do you know of any Tik Tokers, IG’rs, or YouTubers who have interesting recipes or tips for food prep? TIA!
  5. Hello! I am getting sleeved on November 7th through Bariatric Pal MX. I'm going to be documenting my journey on instagram as I feel that is the best way to keep myself accountable. Is anyone else documenting their journey either through instagram or youtube? I want to follow you guys. We should all support each other. I'm 24 years old and I just want to know what it feels like to be healthy again, something I lost when I was 11. Instagram: @sleeve_tastic
  6. Hi all I'm Kristen, if you're in the Insta wls community you may know me as @survive.sleeve.slay myself and @emilyamvsg cohost a podcast called Mom's Spaghetti. We don't just talk about weight loss surgery, but really about weight struggles and successes and failures in general. We do approach the topics with a humorous perspective, because it's who we are. I am a little over a year out from vsg, Emily is 6.5 years out, so we are in very different places in the surgery timeline. I wanted to invite you all to listen, we're going on Instagram live 3/24/19 at 7 central, stop in and say hi, let us know what you think and give us suggestions on topics you want us to cover. Hope to see you there! Kristen

    WLS YouTubers

Does anyone who is pre-op or post-op watch YouTube channels that talk about WLS? During my research, I have watched a few people's channels, and they have been very informative for a person like me who is in the very beginning stages of WLS. If anyone has some YouTube channels they watch, please feel free to share. Just passing along the information.... 8. I didn't think that I would be telling the whole world that I was once in a place unrecognizable to me. I decided to make a change that I would benefit not thinking that this decision would inspire others to make a change in their lives. I decided to document my journey the only best way I knew how and that was through YouTube because when I was going through the research myself I could sit down and read whatever I looked up but I would understand more whatever I saw. I love that aspect of Social Media that you get to meet different people and interact and make friends. Making friends that actually share the same struggles or even similar ones makes a differences. People that don't know can easily get tired of you but only because they are not wearing the same shoes. I am happy with my decision and I love my tool my own personal trainer. I invite you to come watch my journey and be part of my family! Hope you guys enjoy!

  10. Hello, everyone. I'm a 38 male from Michigan who started my program back in March. In January I was 581lbs, Today I'm 503lbs and my goal is to have lost 100lbs when I go in for surgery on the 17th of October. with the help of my surgeon, we've both decided that Gastric Bypass would be my best option. I've been obese my whole life since the age of 6. It's the one thing I've not been able to beat but I'm sure working on it. If anyone is interested, I would love the support of subbing to my YouTube Channel. If you sub, please leave a comment on here so that I can personally thank you. I look forward to interacting with you all and wish you all much success in your own journeys.

    My First Entry

So here i am, most of my friends and family are just as excited as me...some even more than me. But then there are the select few who tell me "i'll support whatever choice you make, but i wouldn't do it if i were you." Hearing those things makes me hesitant to go through with this. It almost feels like they think i'm not trying hard enough or that i'm taking the easy way out. In fact...this isn't easy for me at all. Those of you reading this already know that though. I struggled to make this choice and come to the conclution that this is what i need to do. In fact, a year ago i thought i didn't need this surgery and that i could do it on my own. I lost 15 pounds then, but a year later, i am at my highest. Well, that was 6 days ago that i was at my highest. Thankfully i have lost 10 pounds so far during this pre-op waiting game. Anyways, they tell me of all the horror storied of the people they know who've gotten the bypass (which i'm not getting) and how you turn into a totally different person even down to your personality, how i'm going to have these crazy adiction transfers, and how i might lose my loved ones because of how much i'll change as a person. Stuff like that obviously scared the crap out of me...but i had to think, what's more important: having a healthy life where i know i wont die before 45, or POSSIBLY running into one or more of those previously stated issues? After asking myself that AND if i really thought that "without surgery would i be able to lose this weight and maintain it on my own", i realized that this is my only choice. Thank God i have insurance, otherwise this wouldn't be possible. So, again, here i am......and this time i'm fully excited. I haven't really told my nay-sayers about my decision, but when the time comes, i will. I'm keeping a tottaly WIDE open room for communication with my boyfriend to make sure that he feels comfortable with all this and that he doesn't feel like i'm dragging him on this rollercoaster. haha Soon i'll tell the rest of my family, cause so far only my mom, grandma, and cousin (who had bypass surgery) know of this. But for now i'm just making a YouTube journal of this whole thing (JessiesSleeveJourney) and documenting on here now too. My mom says i shouldn't tell any of my family when we go to Thanksgiving, but i'll let you know if i do. haha -Jessie
  12. Hello everyone, my name is Cristian, and I'm currently 3 days post op from my sleeve being done. In my spare time, I managed a small video game related Youtube channel and sense the surgery, I've had the idea to create a video series on my journey through the surgery and life after the sleeve. I know in my own personal decision making process, youtubers who had done something very similar were an EXTREMELY big part of my decision to move forward with my surgery. Most of them haven't posted a new video in nearly 5 years, so I figured I'd pick up the mantle and try to help other people like they helped me with more recent videos and information. My second video should be going up within hours, but the first one can be found here: https://youtu.be/i9ZE7yQkjuA My hope is that I can give someone the necessary information to make an informed decision as to whether this is the right decision for them. Feel free to pass the link along to any family members or friends looking into the procedure. I'll be updating regularly and will do my best to respond to all questions as best I can. Hope everyone achieves what they want to achieve with the sleeve! Best regards, Cristian
  13. Hello Everyone, My name is Angelique and I am 8 weeks post-op. I started my journey Nov 2012 and I am happy with my journey so far. I was looking for a support group but I could not find one that was not hard to navigate through and it was too far for me to drive to one so I decided to start a wonderful female's VSG support group on Facebook, youtube, and twitter. If there is any women vsg's who is looking for an additional support group, please come join us and have fun. Our group is called Sleevesisters

  15. I just uploaded my first video! This was a huge NSV, as I hate having my photo taken or appearing on film. It wasn't as bad as I expected, but I think I'll have to be better prepared next time. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=27ghLvICixo&feature=youtube_gdata

    I'm on The You Tubes!

Hey everybody! I just learned how to make a video with my computer and post it on "The Internet". It's very high-tech and I wouldn't want to intimidate any of you technophobes out there. I am just BLAZING into the last quarter of the 20th century! Anyway, I will be chronicling my weight loss journey for all to see. if you'd like to check it out, I'm pretty sure my channel name is "Canary Diamond". I don't know the difference between the member name and channel name, but I'm sure you'll figure it out - you smarty pants, you! Oh, even better. Here's a link (that's short for hyper-link in technology lingo, but again, I don't want to bore you with my exhaustive knowledge of what we early adopters call the "world wide web"): http://www.youtube.c...JUTmAKTCP8BLOwQ Check it out, and subscribe if you like it!

  19. Hey all, My family and I do vlogs on YouTube and documenting the journey of my wife and me in our journey's with weight loss surgery. My wife was sleeved on 9-18 and I'll be having gastric bypass on 10-17 this coming Tuesday. I set a goal for myself when I started back in Jan that I wanted to lose 100lbs before my surgery. I had my final weight in and recorded what the scale said in a recent vlog. Did I hit the goal?

  21. Hello everyone, I've been a member since 2007 I believe when I was researching then wither or not to have the surgery. I never went through with it at that time. I was scared and I don't think I was ready. At the time my mind was focused on LapBand. Now present day, I have been instantly approved by my insurance company for weight loss surgery. I've made the decision to blog my journey on youtube. I want to document the whole process and transformation. Not only for myself but for my 2 beautiful girls. Mainly so they can see and know how much daddy fought for to get healthy for them. I'm also doing this to become a better husband and better provide for my family and give them and myself an overall better quality of life. I'm 38 and an IT Professional, I was always reserved about surgery. Mainly because I was scared but as I've gotten older I have run into some health issues and have found out that I'm no longer super man and need the extra help to get over the hump of weight loss. Jan 9th of this year I was 581lbs, Presently I'm 547 and although I'm already approved for surgery I've been give a goal to lose 50-60 lbs and get below 500 before they want to operate. I'm determined and excited for this process. I';m here to learn and here for support. I've already read some incredible stories and look forward to more and sharing my progress along the way. I hope and welcome all of you to join along. If interested my YouTube page can be found here TooBIG's Journey Through Weight Loss Surgery Thanks Everyone

    Youtube Video!

Well I finally worked up the guts to make and post my first youtube video journaling my journey to a healthy weight. I must apologize in advance since I was super nervous and it was my first time recording myself (not to mention how much I hate to look at myself right now.) Any comments are appreciated!
  23. Hi All: Is anyone documenting their journey on YouTube? I love watching videos of weight loss surgery patients documenting their process. I'f you are, could you share your "channel" as I'd love to subscribe to you if you're doing this? I took a few videos first for myself as I think it will be great to look back on a year+ from now. Then, I decided I'd go ahead and share publicly as the ones I've watched of others have been a tremendous help to me. I'm not good at talking (much better with a keyboard) but oh well. It's kind of fun and I think will keep me motivated along the way. YouTube - Little Kansas Kitty
