    Dear Candy Bowl...

Dear Candy Bowl, I noticed this morning that you've been refilled by some well-meaning member of my team. I also noticed that shiny Cadbury Creme Egg sitting there in the midst of all those other naughty treats. And I walked right past you. Sure, I may have glanced your way for a minute, but don't misread that as a sign of weakness! I don't need you any more. Yeah, you heard me. I've moved on, mister. Edamame may not be as flashy as you are, but he's reliable and has always treated me better! I'm better off hanging with him and his friends Almonds, Tuna and Yogurt - they might not always take me for that wild sugar-rush ride, but they're dependable and they don't drag me down! They make me feel better about myself - you never did that for me and you never will. Goodbye, Candy Bowl. It's been nice knowing you. I feel sorry for the next silly girl that falls prey to your good looks and fast moves! Sincerely, Eye on Onederland
  2. Happy Halloween! And now, to the important part: candy! More specifically, how are you going to avoid it this year? It can be staring you in the face at home as you get ready for trick-or-treaters, and at work as your coworkers bring in their leftovers. How are you going to pass up the sweet stuff this year? Are thoughts of weight gain, dumping syndrome, and guilty feelings enough to keep you away? Or do you need some more tangible strategies? Maybe you hand out a type of candy that you do not like, or arm yourself with a stash of frozen grapes to satisfy your sweet tooth during the evening. What are your plans this Halloween, and how are you going to “be good?” And, just for fun…what did a typical Halloween look like before WLS?
  3. So I'm on a one week business trip in Europe from home in Canada. I've only been gone a day and am quickly realising that when I am not in an environment I can control, that I'm still more susceptible to temptation than I'd experienced so far. Planes have always been a relaxing wine-filled event for for me, and eating out every meal with all the smells and temptations is going to test my resolve. I've been on full solids for 2 weeks now as cleared by my surgeon, and am tolerating everything I've tried, so really the only thing that is off-limits is what I choose, not what my body can handle. Good, then I'll take this as a test..Determined to not get off track! On the plus side, the 24 lbs I've lost so far meant a much more comfortable red-eye flight...The seat was roomier, the dinner tray fit better, the seatbelt was pulled much tighter than before. I was more energetic on the long airport walks carrying my heavy carry-on, also due to my daily walking
  4. Hello fellow bloggers! I just joined this site and am glad to be here. I started out at 318lbs and had my surgery March 27th, 2012... I actually lost 14lbs in the three days pre surgery on the clear sugar free liquid diet if you can believe it! It has been about 4 and a half weeks and I am now weighing in at 287lbs. I was supposed to get my first fill this week, but my port incision became very infected and opened so I have to wait another week until I am off the the antibiotics The first 3 weeks were a breeze and I was barely hungry at all, feeling satisfied with only about 800-1000 calories a day. However, now I am RAVENOUS and could raid a bakery or two I have been really good about controlling myself but it is getting harder as my hunger grows every day. I really hope my first fill next week will help! I have been exercising daily (water aerobics!) and I also just began waitressing part time which has helped me burn alot of calories too. Did anyone else struggle with the full force hunger a few weeks after surgery? If so, how did you/do you cope?!
