    How fast?

So, the $64,000 question that I'm sure all newbies want to know: how fast (on average) do most people lose weight after surgery. I know, I know, everyone's different, but surely there is a range. I lost very quickly before and immediately after surgery, but now that I'm about 6 or 7 weeks out, it has slowed dramatically (less than 1/2 pound per day). Is that common? Does it speed up and slow down and then back up and down (much like my investments 🤣)? I'm trying to lose another 50-60 pounds. Should I be thinking 6 months or 2 years? Thanks PS: I bet no one has ever asked this before. Sorry, couldn't find a thread on this.
  2. I'm sorry If this bothers some of you. if you don't want to read about someone mad about their rapidly melting curves then move on. Ok I know I should be eternally grateful to all the powers that be yaddy yaddy yah BUT. I knew I had at least a year to try and get to goal or lose as much as possible because things would slow down significantly after 12 mos post op. Obviously I want to see myself get to or under goal within that time frame and I knew that I would probably lose the curves I value so much by the time I got there buuuuuuut I thought I had more time. I desperately wanted to get to Onederland because-- who doesn't?!? I remember years ago when I started gaining weight I got the booty I always wanted when I hit about 165. Of course with each passing 10 lbs (at a rate of about 10-15 lbs a yr for the next 7-8 years) it only got bigger. So needless to say there comes a point where your weight starts to distribute to other areas like the thighs, lovehandles, stomach, arms etc and then it's not cute anymore. Well after surgery I had accepted that by the time I hit goal I'd probably lose all my lovely curves but in the mean time and in between time I thought I'd have some time before me and my curves parted ways. Specifically between the weights of 160-195lbs I thought I'd have a little fun fittling back into smaller clothes while ALSO enjoying my smaller waistline and still bigger hips and butt. WELLLLLL I am sadly mistaken. Currently I am about 191 lbs. Hit Onederland 2nd week of October planned to be in the high 180's low 190's by 10/31 and yes I made it. Next goal is 175 by the end of November, early December and then about 5lbs every month therafter until goal. But my curves have also begun to rapidly disappear at a rate that's concerning and also disappointing. When I was 190 in the past-- I could squeeze into a womens 14. Maybe a 12 if I was lucky. My butt was very very big. Hips even bigger. Specifically my hips/butt was about 52 inches. Now at 190, I can fit easily into a 10 and Medium shirts and IM NOT COMPLAINING but I'm just trying to understand why things are this different. I haven't measured but I'm sure my hips/butt is about 46 inches. I mean I'm a little flabby but not anything concerning at this point. Which means in another 30 lbs I might be in a 6? At 160? I was barely able to fit clothes in the Jr section at 160. I mean it was a struggle!!! Which was why I started yo yo dieting in the first place. I have stopped going to the gym because I don't know what to do. I don't want to do another minute of cardio due to the speed of weight loss. I mean don't get me wrong. I'm definitely on track. I don't think I'm losing any faster or slower than I should be. I am ready now that I'm just slightly past halfway to goal to do more weights and lifting, toning and resistance training for the rest of the way until I get where I want to be. If I didn't have the surgery I would've probably went for another 15 lbs and then stopped. I can't eat very much so I can't slow things down and I want desperately to lose weight but I guess it's happening quicker than I expected and my curves with it. I am so grateful for the victories along the way I went to the amusement park Saturday and was able to for the first time in several years get on EVERY single ride. My husband attributes this to the fact that my big ol butt is ALLLLLL Goooooooone. I think that hurt my feelings even though I know he didn't mean to I'm like really? That's how you feel? its ALLLLLLLL GOOOOOOONE??? already? I took pictures and actually like the way I look in them for the first time in at least 7 years! Soooo that means a lot! I'm healthy. High Blood pressure is GONE! Insulin resistance NO MORE!!!!!!!! So I know I'm being very petty right now but it does bother me. I think this open enrollment period I will start a health savings account through my employer and start putting money aside for my breast augmentation and brazillian butt lift or Lipo with Gluteal fat injections. Since my WLS was paid for 100% via insurance-- Surely I could save at least half of the amount for my cosmetic procedures and the other half I'll put on my credit card. Any tips in the meanwhile??? Shapewear that gives you a butt lift? Exercise regimen?
  3. Well, today was the final day for my Couch-to-5k app on my phone, also known as c25k. It was 8 weeks long, three times a week, and I loved it most of the days. At 6 weeks my husband and I did a 5k run/walk and I was glad I could jog the entire first half, and then alternated jogging and walking the remaining time. My time was abysmal by most standards (46.07), but i was happy with it as a benchmark for eventual improvement. I also figured by the time I finished my c25k program I'd be ready to jog the whole 5k. So why WHY didn't I do the math at that point? Hello!?! I did the app today and jogged 35 minutes covering just over 2 miles, and then saw that it was (gasp!) the last day of it, and the little "Congratulations - you're a 5K runner!" came up. Uh...no. Not yet anyway. So, maybe I idnt' flunk it, but I'm giving myself a "C" for not making my goal--but the good thing is, I WILL make that goal, and will get some other motivator going in order to speed up my pace. There's one out there called "Forever 5K" that works on speed. I'll get there eventually! Suggestions anyone?
  4. Hello, My name is Shannon but everyone calls me Shani. I am 34 years old and my start weight was 335 as of January 09, 2020. I didn't get to have my surgery until January 11, 2021 due to Covid and other medical issues... I'm sure a lot of people have had frustrations over that... I could've had it in July, but sadly, that didn't happen. Instead, I had my surgery January 11th, 2021 at which time I weighed in at 309. - I'm a 5'8 female, so I'm kinda tall... built more like my father than my mother... I don't have another appointment with my doctor until mid-April, but my family keeps freaking me out saying I'm losing weight too fast. I'm down to 265.4 as of today's date. - I've been watching the scale every day (not as a bad thing, just to check every day... if I lost, I lost, if I didn't, oh well) and I've noticed my weight can range anywhere from .80 of a pound to 2.0 pounds in a day.... so, like I said, I've lost about 44 lbs as of this conversation... Obviously, I'm only 2 months (and a couple days) out from sleeve surgery so I'm still in soft food diet area... and I know my ideal weight is gonna be somewhere around 160-170 most likely... At the rate I'm going, if I didn't plateau somewhere, in six months, I'd be at my goal weight. I am the pickiest eater to begin with, so when the doctor told me I'd have to go on a strict diet, I had no issue with this... I told him, just give me one to three things I'm allowed to eat, and I'll be fine... he said, eggs, canned chicken, soft veggies... so, that's exactly what I do. My meal every day consists of 2 handfuls of frozen peppers/onion mix, 1 egg, and a third to a quarter can of chunk chicken, mixed together like an omelette, with a few dollops of salsa on top for the spicyness of it and two tablespoons of spicy sauce (only 25 calories per 2 tablespoons). I eat that in a bowl twice a day RELIGIOUSLY - nothing else. If I eat a third bowl (like for dinner) I start gaining weight. ( tried eating 3x a day for 4 days, I gained 5 lbs). I can only get down 2 bottles of water (16.9 oz) every day, else wise I get nauseous from the water intake. I gym 2 times a week, basically because I don't have a car, and my mother or sister have to take me but I do simple things at home to try to exercise as well... Gym days I plateau. I don't lose weight. Like at all... and yes, I know muscle weighs more... so it's a non-issue for me... But my family makes me wonder if I'm losing too fast, too soon... My sister had the bypass, ( she only had to lose 70lbs though, where as I have to lose 170 to get to my ideal weight.) When I first spoke to the doctor back in February, he saw no issue with my weight loss amount... Said he sees it more in men than in females but it's not uncommon (ergo why I said I'm built more like my father than mother) and that each person is different... Should I be worried that I'm not eating that third meal? I'm not hungry for it, so I don't feel like I need it... not to mention the weight gain it gives me that I don't like... I've even tried just doing some hummus and carrots as a third meal, and still gained weight... so I dropped it back down to 2 meals, and boom, I'm back to dropping 2 lbs a day for 3 days straight... today I lost .8 lbs... which brings me to 265... Any thoughts?
