  1. I am 18 months out, 128 pounds down, still 40 away from goal. I have recently started having painful attacks that are being attributed to my gallbladder, an ultrasound revealed stones. I've done some research though and have discovered that just because you have your GB out doesn't necessarily mean that the painful attacks will stop! I've also heard that it can completely derail your weight loss or even make you gain weight, and that for the REST of your life, you will never again be able to eat some of the more beautiful things in life - a good french cheese, red wine, a rich sauce, red meat. =( =( Can anyone weight in and clear some of this up for me? I'm putting off having surgery because I can't get an answer that I trust from anywhere, so I'm coming to my VST homies.
  2. Hi All, FInished my pre req and went to get my results from them this past saturday. They told me I have gallstones. I have never had a problem with them. Doc wanted to take my gallbladder out! It took me a long time to make the decision to get this invasive lapband. I don't want to have my galllbladder out and then wait a nother month to get a date for my surgery. I'm thinking I shouldn't have any gallstone attaks as I will changing my diet completely with the Lap-band. Has anyone not removed it with gallstones and changed their diet and have been doing just fine? I opted out since they said it was optional. Also I found out I have a hiatal hernia. Also never had a problem with that but they said they can fix that while they put the band in so thats good. I'm in the waiting process to get approval from my insurance which should hopefully any day now ^___^. So excited. Thanks for your imput/ answers
  3. Hi fellow sleevers I am 18 months post sleeve and unfortunately my gallbladder has decided she wants out. I’m having severe attacks and I’m now waiting the US results but the doctor says everything points out to be stones and possibly surgery. I’m a bit scared of the pain, as my sleeve recovery was so painful. And of the tolerance of foods after as I haven't had any issues post my sleeve until now. Also, I have been stalling since the pandemic started, so my questions to you are: 1. How was your experience? Was the pain worse than the surgery? 2. Did you lose more weight after? 3. Has it changed your tolerance to new foods? Thanks for your help, be safe!🤗
  4. I am around 4 months post op and I think I am starting to have attacks. I get a sudden sharp pain that starts in my middle right back and radiates to under my ribs on the right side. Occasionally it will spread towards my shoulder. At first, a few weeks ago, it was a dull ache. Now it is becoming more like a severe cramp that has had me double over once. From what I have seen though is that people don't start having these problems until much farther out than I am. So when did you first start feeling pain from your gallbladder? How long did you stick it out for before going in?
  5. Hi everyone, I have a question. I had my blood work up for my 1 year post op and my bilirubin level is above normal. Everything else is fine. My PCP wants me to get an abdominal x-ray and is asking me if I have any pain in abdominal area. I don't have any pain and I feel really good. So has anyone had the same experience or am i headed for gallstones or something? I am not really sure what to think.
  6. I got the news yesterday that my gallbladder ultrasound found at least one gallstone. The news was delivered by my PCP and he had indicated that without "gallbladder attacks," it's probably not a big deal. I happened to have my Nut#3 the same day, yesterday, and when I inquired, she said that the doctor would remove the gallbladder. It sounded like an automatic "gallstones = removal." I'm thinking the logic is the risk of needing a second surgery (second anesthesia, etc.) outweighs the risk of the preemptive strike of removing the gallbladder. I had found another post about removal AFTER having had WLS, but I was curious to get some feedback who are in the same boat as me: doctor took it out DURING your VSG. What were your experiences?

    Gallbladder

Has anyone taken Ursodial for gallstones.. prevention? If so.. Were there any side effects? Was the medication effective?
  8. I have heard rapid weight loss can lead to the development of gallstones and I know some bariatric surgeons offer gallbladder removal at the same time as the sleeve surgery. Is anyone thinking about getting this done? My surgeon offers it, and I think I will get it done, as I already have gallstones so I am at high risk of developing even more and of course, having gallstone attacks.. which I can tell you is one of the worst pains I have ever experienced... and I have had an 11 lb baby!! Just wondering what other people are thinking about this option.
  9. I just received a message from my PCP at Kaiser and he's referred me to a surgeon to remove my gallbladder. I'm confused because I have no pain or sxs. They did an ultra sound and I guess they found some. I'm wondering if there's other treatments that will prevent gallstones or dissolve them?
