  1. So I know I'll have to take a lot of calcium citrate, my NUT said crunchy chewable. I've read everywhere that people hate this or that calcium, but nowhere, which ones people like & keep calcium levels up. Vitamins also, anyone have any good suggestions?
  2. Hey has anyone heard of using Tums as your calcium supplement?
  3. Let me start off by saying that I always look for a way to save money...when I can. Here's something I discovered recently. I was getting in some walking the other day in costco and stumbled, almost literally over the Kirkland brand Calcium Chews. A bag of 180 is $9 versus $30 for 90 when I bought them at the doctors office last month. Doctor also sells some really good Ostrim Protein sticks (I got the habanero beef and elk stick) for $2 at the doctor's office. Go to the company direct and they're $1.25. http://www.protos-inc.com/ostrim_Elk_Hab.html There are a lot of flavors, they're really meaty; don't think Slim Jim cause these are 2 oz. Hope this helps!
  4. I am 3 years post-op and looking for a good tasting calcium citrate chewable that I can stick to 3 times a day. I really like the VitaFusion calcium chewable (if you’re familiar with the texture/taste) but unfortunately, it is only provided as tricalcium phosphate. I can’t stand the chewables that taste chalky - they make me gag, and I realize in order to remain committed on a daily basis, I have to find something that tastes good - Any recommendations?
  5. Hi Ya'll So....I am having surgery soon (the next 4-6 weeks) and am trying to get my ducks.... um, I mean my drugs, in a row I take many prescription meds and now I will also need to add the Vitamins and supplements after surgery. I was looking at chewable options but they all seem gross. So I was thinking of going the liquid route. Are there any brands you love? Any you hate? What are your secrets to life post-op, with the constant need to take these supplements? Thanks bunches! Have a blesses day!
  6. Hi, This is my first post. I have been considering getting the Duodenal Switch for a few years now, and I finally took the first step and attended a webinar, and scheduled an appointment with a surgeon. I had a few questions that I wanted answered though: Does anyone know if the Duodenal Switch will interfere with my Synthroid and Calcium absorption? I already have to take Calcium supplements (2000 mg/day), and I know that you have to take calcium supplements after duodenal switch surgery for life, but since I already take it will that mean that I have to take an even higher dose, or will I not be able to get a malabsorptive procedure? Thank You
  7. BPD-DS done in 2007 15 years post op. I have severe Osteoporosis due to malabsorption, mostly self inflicted by not being diligent with my vitamins and supplements. Stopped losing weight, eating a good healthy diet, assumed I was getting what I needed did not take supplements on a regular basis. Fast forward to today, I've been faithfully taking vitamins, calcium, iron for about 2 years now but I can't seem to slow the cycle of osteoporosis. I'm taking tymlos injections nightly, but my bone scans steadily decline. Any suggestions for Oral or patch Calcium that is extremely quickly absorbable please share info.
  8. The question here is if you like the Calcium Chewy Bites? The flavor to me is just great, I loved them at first but soon after I would gag when ever i would eat them. I chose, Strawberry, Coconut and Chocolate flavors.. So now I switched to the Calcium Chewable tables cinnamon flavor & I am doing just fine. So i have 3 bags of this product i need to sell at my next meeting. How say you with this product so far?? Yeah or nay ?
  9. What do you recommend for a schedule to eat three calcium citrate chews a day while staying two hours away for iron intake? Can I just eat all three at the same time?

    Calcium and Iron suppliments

I'm taking Calcium chews 3x a day and chewable Iron 2x. I know there's a warning about taking them together(something about absorbtion), but I'm not exactly sure. How much time has to pass before I take one or the other? Thank You, Timmo
  11. So, I am sure this has been asked before, but would like to see responses from current times. What Multivitamin were you prescribed post-wls, and do you still take that one, or have you switched to anything different? How about Calcium,D3, Iron, any other things prescribed by doc, related to WLS? I was told to take either optisource or Bariatric fusion. Both of these are required to be taken 4x a day, and I rarely get all 4 in I usually get 3 in per day. The NUT told me not to take Opurity (which is a once a day bariatric Vitamin, that I wouldn't get enough in,but honestly, I would get more in taking that once day than forgetting 1-2 tablets per day. What do you take? I was told to take Calcet or another chewable calcium citrate supplement. I took calcet the first month, and then slacked off the calcium for a couple of weeks, and right now, I am just taking my citracal petites to get something in, until I can order some calcet, but I'm not sure if the citracal gives me any benefits. I also take D3, a gummy form. So what do you do???
  12. So I saw my NUT for my first consultatation pre-op yesterday and she wants me to take 500 mg calcium with 1000 D3 chewable, liquid or powdered. I'm not going to buy pills now when tbey estimate my surgery to be in 6 weeks. I looked at Sam's , Walmart and Walgreens and all the chewable Calcium are pure sugar. What do you guys buy?
  13. Was wondering what all everyone takes to keep healthy. I have been taking one vitamin and 2 calcium and i just bought a bottle of Biotin to start today. I'm on day 7 of my diet. I drink Propel Zero water ALL day long and it has lots of vitamins, mostly B's in it. Look forward to hearing from you ! Karen
  14. hello first time post, so i need some help with vitamins. ive been taking a multivitamin gummy, i got approval from my doctor because i was seriously unable to take a chew able. i am now far out enough from surgery to take pills. im looking for a multivitamin pill that is good for gastric sleeve patients since i need to take it with food and eating a gummy or a chewable makes my food taste gross. also i have a question with vitamin b12. i get monthly shots of vitamin b12 but i was wondering if it would be necessary to take a daily vitamin b12 as well (probably should just wait to see if im deficient in it right?) anyway thank you!
  15. My surgeon prescribed Protonix and I took it for 3 weeks, but I don't feel like it was very effective after 2 weeks. I'm not sure if that particular PPI is milder or more easily tolerated for coming straight out of a surgical procedure on the stomach. Yesterday I told my doctor that I kept feeling extreme hunger all day long that I thought was related to stomach acid or gas and could I switch to Prilosec or Prevacid because the Protonix didn't seem to work very well. He said sure, just make sure it is either a very small pill or an elixer. Which PPIs have you tried and what are your experiences with them? Do you also supplement with Tum's or some other form of antacid?
