  1. So after living with diabetes and a fasting blood sugar of 130+, I am faced with a new issue. My blood sugar is now in the lower 60's. I am happy it is now low however this is also dangerous. I was told that it would rise as my body started to use up all the stored fat. Has anyone else experienced this issue and what did you do until the fat burning kicked in?
  2. I had my sleeve surgery on November 20th 2014 and left the hospital on 11/ 22/ 14. Then on Nov,24th just before i was ready to go to bed, i noticed my blood sugar was low. At that point i did not know how to raise my blood sugar without getting dumping syndrome. Can anyone please tell me how to raise my blood sugar and avoid Dumping syndrome? I am on a phase one liquid diet for 2 weeks, Thank You.
  3. I was sleeved on Oct 22, 2013 at 238 lbs and 37 BMI. I have been type 2 diabetic for at least 16 yrs and was on short and long lasting insulin (100 lantus and Novalog depending on what I ate) as well as metformin, Invocana, and meds for hypertension and hyperlipemia. My sugars went down very well, and I was only on 1 met. Pill and 10 units of lantus at month 2. However, during month 3 my sugars have gone up anywhere from 50 to 100 points, even while I'm eating only about 60 carbs a day. Ive had to raise the metformin to 3 pills and lantus to 30 units, and i expect my endocrinologist will raise it more tomorrow. I am unable to understand this. Has anyone had a similar experience? I'm very discouraged since the diabetes is the only reason I had the VSG.
  4. Before surgery I was diabetic, now though (almost 8 months post op) I keep having my blood sugar drop. The other night it went down to 26. I have no idea how I made it from my apartment down to my mothers to get something sweet from her without collapsing
  5. I am just beginning the process and have not been to my first surgeon consultation yet but have been to the seminar, had EKG and chest xray. My blood sugar drops low every night. I have lowered my insulin dramatically but no matter what it drops. I am wondering how will I keep it from dropping when I go on a liquid diet. I was on a liquid diet for a colonoscopy a few months ago and they had me to not take insulin at all. I am wondering how do diabetics handle this situation?
  6. Hello, I am one month post op, been eating regular food for one week now per doctors orders and today at work I ate breakfast as usual. A piece of wheat bread with strawberry cream cheese and coffee but an hour later I started feeling shakey and I asked my coworker to check my blood pressure and blood sugar (we're nurses). Well my bp was fine but my sugar was 56! I am not diabetic so if I ate breakfast why would this happen?
