    Pre Op Day 2

So yesterday I actually made it without cheating! I started my day by attempting to drink the protein shake I made using the Relaunch Unflavored Protein that is created by my doctors clinic. But I made it wrong and I couldn’t take it. So I ate the 3 protein bars that are allowed and my one 500 calorie lien meal. I went to bed early because if I didn’t I would’ve caved. Today I attempted the protein again using 12 oz of cold water, 1 scoop of the unflavored protein and one pack of true lemon original lemonade (similar to crystal light). I put it in my blender bottle, gave it a good shake or two lol and drank it. It was very easy to tolerate and now I don’t have to spend additional money on the Premier Protein Clear drinks!! Hopefully today I’m less tempted and can push through once again so that I can get my mental ready for the surgery and post op!! Only 13 days left including today 🤗
  2. Hi, just thought I'd give a little introduction, as I've really enjoyed reading about everyone's successes here! My name is Josette, I'm 19 and from Oregon. I am set to have my sleeve done on the 23rd of June, 2015 in Coos Bay. I am on my second day of liquids! This won't be my first weight loss surgery, I had a band placed in 2013 in Mexico by Dr Ortiz, that had to be removed September 2014 in the states due to complications. Looking back I should have saved up and gotten the sleeve the first time, but I'm so excited to start my journey now; and I cannot wait to see all of your wonderful progress here! (: Here are my numbers: Hw: 350 Cw: 344 Sw: ? Gw: 160
  3. Hi everyone, I met with Psych, fitness, dietician today, they also included pharmacy to go over all of our medications including over-the-counter and supplements. I had a heart attack a year and a half ago, I don’t have any stents nor did I have any blockages. I’m on beta blockers and calcium channel blocker‘s, aspirin and Lipitor. Some of these have to be adjusted because they’re extended release, but the main issue is the aspirin. The pharmacist stated that because I am now a bariatric surgical patient Motrin and aspirin I can no longer take. This poses an issue because I am supposed to take 81 mg of aspirin a day. I do have to get cardiac clearance from my cardiologist before proceeding with the surgery,. I was wondering if there are any cardiac patients here that have gone through this? Thanks!
  4. I am counting down the days and starting my pre op diet tomorrow. If I can shrink my liver even more than what they want. Maybe I am doing something good. I have been at the gym everyday for the last 2 1/2 weeks morning and night. I have been doing Hip adduction/abduction machines. I walk the treadmill while listening to music. Excited Dave
  5. I am offically one month out and down 23lbs. I found the most delicious Protein shake. OMG I was hating the taste of shake because I have been on them so long. I had a hital hernia repair which makes it harder for me to swallow right now. I hated every single shake I have tasted until dunt dunt dunnnnn. I tried an organic cafe mocha Protein Shake from the Vitamin Shoppe. I went their asked the employee which one he tasted that was the best. Oh yeah Protein Bar was always a favorite of mine. The Best shake ever Organic Cafe Mocha from the Vitamin Shoppe and whole foods ************** 100 stars if I could I could drink this shake all day. It has no caffeine, taste like ice coffee, is organic, and has 16 grams of protein. I am in heaven. OMG I am finally looking forward to Breakfast in the morning. If anyone is having a problem with shakes I highly recommend this shake. I purchased all of them from the vitamin shoppee.

  7. Hi Everyone! I am very new to this site and have never posted a topic here either. I am half-way through the process to have my WLS Surgery and could always use friends who have had the surgery or waiting like me. I haven't told any of my friends at all and am a bit lonely right now. My parents know, but they don't count. LOL. I live in the Scarborough Area and will be having surgery at Humber River Hospital probably around the middle of October - Yeah!! Anyone out there wanna chat.

    VSG 7/19

Hi all, I’m having my surgery 7-19 in Colorado. I would love to hear any post operation advice including hospital stay etc!
  9. Hello, I'm new to the forum. I have been researching the Gastric Sleeve for a few years now. Back in 2008, I was just about to schedule my surgery date and my blood work came back that I had Graves Disease (hyperthyroid) so I had to cancel. Since then, I've had my thyroid ablated with radiation and am on medication to keep my levels in check. I am now in the process of getting things done pre op for the surgery and still have alot to do! Before I was diagnosed with hyperthroidism, my weight was 235. So I was still a big girl. I didn't have the side effect of being skinny as most with this disease do. After I had it ablated, I gained 50 more pounds in 4 months. I was devastated! I now weigh 290 and can't lose anything. I've been overwieght since I was eight but was able to lose 80 to 100 pounds 3 times in my life only to gain it back. I know that I can't get the weight off by myself and decided that no matter how much this costs me, because my insurance WILL NOT pay for it, I am going to do this! I have too. I can't live like this any longer. I know that if I don't do something, I will surely continue to gain weight. I guess I just want any feedback from you guys about what it is like to go through the surgery, the pain, the recovery time and any other information you can give me. Also, any negative thoughts you may have about the surgery. I know I just can't live this way. I have high blood pressure, borderline diabetes, heart pvcs, bad knees, arthritis. I would love to hear your stories and would greatly appreciate any input you can give me concerning the surgery. Thank you so much! God Bless!
  10. Hello! My gastric sleeve is tomorrow, and I’m unsure if a food I like is able to be eaten today. They said I should be on a liquid diet, but I’m wondering if yogurt/pudding counts as a liquid? I ask because after my mom’s surgery, they had her on a liquid diet and gave her jell-o. Help! I just want a yogurt!
  11. I wanted to start a topic for those sleevers who have about 125lbs pounds or less to lose. What are your result? How is the extra skin? How was you weightloss journey because you have less to lose? Did you stall a lot? How long did it take to show results?
  12. Thinking about getting gastric sleeve can you ladies comment some of your pros & cons.( I know everyone’s journey is different)

    Pre op2

    From the album: Me pre-op

  14. Hi all, I am 19, I'm having my sleeve surgery on the 23rd of June, and I am starting out at 346 pounds and 5'11" tall. I am on day 5 of liquids and I am now at 337. My goal weight is 165. I just worry that I'm not going to be able to lose 180 pounds... More than half my body weight. My surgeon told me that with the sleeve it won't be a realistic expectation for me to reach under 200 pounds, and right now I'm freaking out About that. My surgeon believes that I should have chosen bypass, but the thought of having a permanent sugar aversion for life sounds awful, and I don't consume dairy or sweets anyways. (I know I know, bad reason to not consider the bypass.. But I'd like to enjoy cake at my wedding, etc) So I guess my questions for you guys are: Do you feel that the sleeve was worth it? Did you reach you goal? If you had to do it again would you choose bypass or stick with the sleeve? Starting weight? Goal/current weight? And how many months out? And most importantly, when did you realize that you could do this? I know this is a lot of questions, but my anxiety is starting to set in. I know that I'm ready to make this change, but I want to get it right, since I didn't the first time (lap band), and whatever I choose now is what I'll have to live with for 50+ years. Thanks for your comments, Sincerely, Josie
  15. Has anyone had something like this delay surgery? I’m scheduled for my RNY on Jan 21st. I went a few weeks ago to my PCP and had everything done for clearances. Everything is normal but I had bacteria in urine. Not a lot but rather than start antibiotics right then she waited. Then three days later after the culture was done we did a 3 day round of meds. Went back today and there’s still small traces. She won’t do the paperwork and I’m totally annoyed. My surgeon states this is no reason to hold up my surgery especially since I have no other symptoms (fever, pain etc). Also I feel I should note that I had less than the typical amount in my urine and the culture which from everything I have read is an inconclusive result. I am so frustrated.
  16. My insurance requires a minimum of 6 consecutive months of physical or non physical weight loss program. See excerpt from my instance policy below. Does anyone know if I could use My Fitness Pal to show 6+ mo the of weight loss? I have 6 consecutive months from about a year ago and lost about 20 pounds but have gained it back. I am 5’2 BMI 40. I would like to do the surgery in early July but just started with my practice on February 3 and that puts 6 months at aug 3. I have a major work event in September and the timing doesn’t allow for surgery before the event. If I cannot do surgery in July I will have to wait till early October. :( The document must include that the patient participated in a structured, professionally supervised (physician or non-physician) weight-loss program for a minimum of six consecutive months within the last four years prior to the recommendation for bariatric surgery.

On My 5Th Day Of Lq Pre-Op Diet

OK, so I'm on my 5th day of my pre-op L.Q. diet, and so far so good I guess. Gets a little tiring only being able to have a few different things to drink/eat everyday. Someday's it's harder than others, like when my hubby is making himself something to eat, and the smell of it fills the house! Everywhere you look there is adds for food, on TV, and the Internet. I miss the crunchy stuff most. On another note, I have lost 5 pounds so far since I started the L.Q. diet, so counting that, and what I lost on my 6 month diet (I had to do for my insurance to approve me), I have lost a total of 52 pounds! It feels great, and I went from a tight size 26 woman's to a comfortable 20/22 woman's so far. I have also lost several inches all over my body! I can't wait to get my sleeve in just 10 more days! I can't wait to be an "average" size again! It's been over 25 years since I haven't been a PLUS size gal! I hope all you other pre-op sleever's are doing well on your L.Q. Diet too!

    Pre op diet

I’m suddenly panicking. Surgery is the 15th. I’ve been on a liquid diet since Tuesday. The nutritionist told me that I could have a banana during the day if I needed sowmthing. Now reading other things, I’m afraid doing that has messed up my liver shrinking?? I’ve had one to two bananas a day since Tuesday. Please tell me I haven’t messed up?
  19. Day 1, the countdown begins!!!! 4 weeks from today is my VSG!!!!
  20. I am a self pay patient, as my insurance does not cover Bariatrics. I am interested in going to Puget Sound Surgical Center for Bariatrics in Edmonds, WA. The doctor I prefer is Dr. Peter Billing. My total cost for the VSG or LSG is $17,400. My pre-op apts such as Dietician, Physiologist & Mental Health will run about $930 (with my insurance paying for some of that). So I am looking at right around $18,000. Has anyone gone to Puget Sound Center and had Dr. Billing? If so, please let me know what your thoughts are on all aspects -- I would love to hear from you! Thank you in advance and have a blessed day!

  22. Hi everyone I am new to the forum. Currently I am waiting for an op date for bypass surgery. I have been on my wls for 12 months with nhs completing assessments getting ready for surgery: psychology assessment, sleep study, pre liver shrinkage for 2 weeks, seeing dieticans, now I am doing a weekly psychology meeting on emotional eating. Is there anyone here that is at the same stage as me, if so would love to link with you.

Pre op starting a liquid diet

I am about to start my pre op liquid diet and would love any tips or suggestions on how to manage. This is a big step for me and I want to do the best possible! Thanks!
  24. Tomorrow I have an appt. with my surgeon. What should I ask him? This is our last time together before my surgery. Any suggestion would be great. If I don't know what to say I may sit there quiet just nodding my head. HELP!
  25. I start my liver shrinking diet on Aug 30 and I wanted to see if anyone knows about adding spices to the broths and such and also adding sugar free pudding mix to the protein shakes. I have seen a few recipes where you add like 1 -2 tsp of sf pudding powder to a shake just to flavor it a little different. Just asking, of course I will ask at my pre op class as well. Just trying to prepare and go on and buy a few things.
