Did anyone have to do the Bravo study to test for silent acid reflux? If so, could you fill the capsule that is attached to your esophagus?

I need some advice... I had my Endoscopy on Friday. For quite some time I've been experiencing nausea and occasional dry heavie'ness. My G.I. tract tends to be a bit sensitive and a bout bronchitis back in November and the subsequent round of antibiotics seem to have set it off, and I have been having ulcer like symptoms. Before I left my doctors office, I was given the report his findings: my esophagus looked fine (yay!); however, I have a erosive gastritis, of which he took several biopsies; he removed a polyp, which will also be biopsied; and finally, he took a biopsy specific to check for celiac. My concern is the erosive gastritis. I'm hoping that it will not prevent me from having surgery. Has anyone else had experience with this? Thanks for your input!

Banded in 2007... Having some issues now with the band but I never reached goal. I lost 75 lbs but only half way to goal. Now ...I have to have a screening colonoscopy so they added that to the endoscopy that I need to have to find out the problem with my band. I am totally scared to death..afraid they won't put me out enough, afraid of what they will find wrong with the band and I don't have insurance that will pay to have it fixed and mostly totally freaked they might find cancer while doing the colonoscopy!!!! I don't know why I can't calm down about this. I spent 15 years in the medical profession and a self admitted control person. I guess I need someone to tell me their good stories and sooth my fears. Thanks to all Chicken Little over and out

Upper/Lower Endoscopy After Sleeve Surgery?
BryBro63 posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hello All...just curious... Prior to sleeve surgery, my gastroenterologyst said had a very slight (if that means anything!!) possible case of Chrohn's disease, and in order to follow up on this, he wanted to do an upper and lower endoscopy on me sometime soon. When I told my sleeve surgeon about this, he very strongly suggested that I put this off for at least 18 months after sleeve surgery, for I suppose obvious reasons...wouldn't want to be probing too much into the stomach too close to surgery. I think I'm with the sleeve surgeon on this one, but just wondering if anyone has had any similar experience like this? Thanks!!! -
Things are starting to roll now, and as much as I try to stay objective about it all and kind of view it from a third person, it's really starting to get REAL, real quick. I feel almost on the verge of panic at times. I had my Endoscopy on Friday. For quite some time I've been experiencing nausea and occasional dry heavie'ness. My G.I. tract tends to be a bit sensitive , and a bout bronchitis back in November and the subsequent round of antibiotics seem to have set it off, causing ulcer like symptoms. Before I left my doctors office, I was given the report his findings. Prior to the test, my major concern was Barretts of the esophagus. My surgeon told me that if I have Barretts, they would not be able to do surgery. Now back to that report: my esophagus looked fine, no Barrett's (yay!); however, I have erosive gastritis, of which he took several biopsies; he removed a polyp, which will also be biopsied; and finally, he took a biopsy specific to check for celiac. My concern now, is the erosive gastritis. I'm hoping that it will not prevent me from having surgery. At least now I know what's been causing the nausea. Has anyone else had experience with this? Might this interfere with me having surgery?

Had My Last Test Today -- The Dreaded Endoscopy!
DadTo2 posted a topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi All, I got back from the hospital a while ago after having my endoscopy and am feeling better after finally having something to drink and eat. Well, drink mostly. I have to say that having the procedure at 5PM and not being able to drink for that long a period of time...ugh. The good news is that there appears to be nothing wrong on initial view from the doctor who performed the procedure. There were some polyps he found and have been sent off for testing, but he wasn't worried about them, so I won't be either. Tomorrow marks 14 days until my surgery. Tomorrow also starts my pre-op diet. All the tests are over for me. Bring on my new life! Eric -

Endoscopy and motility test! I’m abnormal!
MSG0310 posted a topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi everyone, I am scheduled for VSG on December 26th. Last week I went to do my upper GI with contrast. The nasty barium swallow. Well apparently in my report they found some abnormalities of my esophagus and some reflux. My surgeon said in my report that usually the liquid just goes down, but with me it shot up almost to my clavicles and then back down. I don’t notice this at all while I’m eating or drinking. As a result my doctor wants me to do an endoscopy and a motility test to check the function of my esophagus and how I swallow. He said depending on the results he could switch me to the bypass. I really do not want to do the bypass due to malabsorption, dumping syndrome, and cost because I am self pay. I have been waiting to get VSG for years and I’m afraid this test will come back abnormal as well. Has anyone had these tests done and still gotten the VSG even with abnormalities? What is the motility test like? Any information would be helpful.- 5 replies

Just had my endoscopy done and feel like i'm on the ball. I had one before so I knew what to expect. What was a first for me was when the Gastro surgeon stated I had Polyps in my stomach. I was nervous at first just because I had something that was not normal to ME! He explained to me that they were not cancer forming and that he removed them. I was happy to hear that, but now I am waiting for a two week follow up appointment on how to keep the polyps down or atleast gone. Eeewwww

Hi Everyone, I went in for my annual physical on Jan 4ht- my blood work was excellent. She asked me if I had any problems. I said only one. When I take my medication at night before I go to bed, sometimes it feels like it is stuck. I never have this issues in the morning. It may have something to do with laying down right after I take the meds too. So she refereed me to another specialist. I saw them today and tomorrow I am going to have a Endoscopy (EGD). They do not think it is anything serious, but just want to make sure everything is just fine. So off I go tomorrow to have this done. They said they will put a small camera down my throat and check everything out--now won't this be fun. They will give me some really great drugs to make me "happy" and I will know feel a thing. I may be pretty sleeping tomorrow when I get home. I will check in with all of you and let you know I am doing just fine when I can. I am always proactive when it comes to my health. I make sure I stay on top of everything when it comes to my health. Hugs, Suzanne
