  1. Hi all, I’m looking to see if anybody has any personal experience of taking recreational drugs after gastric sleeve surgery. I am going to Amsterdam 5 weeks after my surgery and I will most definitely want to smoke a joint and have a glass of wine. I’m also going to cream fields festival at the end of August. I will most definitely take drugs like cocaine and MDMA at this festival. Can anyone please share some personal experiences with me? Also I’m not looking for a lecture on the health implications I know the risk just looking for people’s experiences.
  2. Last night we went out to Celebrate my birthday at the melting pot. I have found that this can be a really great meal for me with the meat and cheese course. I wanted to enjoy a nice glass of wine (yes I know I am not supposed to eat and drink at the same time). I simply wanted to sip that crisp cold Pinot Grigio and enjoy a bit of cheese fondue. We went with the spinach artichoke cheese fondue. It it delicious. First, I ordered a 5oz (small) glass of wine. It was delicious! I think I maybe sipped half while enjoying the cheese and seriously was feeling no pain. I was just at that threshold were you go from feeling no pain to this is too much! Lol. I read all the stories but part of me wondered if that would happen to me. Well, it takes a while for the entree course but it is truly my favorite. I had 3 shrimp and one potsticke, 2 mushrooms with their lovely green goddess sauce. I was full. About 5 minutes later I became very ill. I had to leave the table, I was literally doubled over in pain. When I got home I threw up. I never get dumping syndrome, I never get heart burn. I was feeling sick for a couple hours, then went to bed. I was exhausted. I layed in bed until 4:30 this morning, unable to sleep and so exhausted. I am 22 months post op, I have eaten this meal before and not had a problem. This morning I got up and had some Water. About an hour later I had a whole grain 1/2 English muffin with Peanut Butter. Before I even finished the last bite I was vomiting again. What the heck? This seriously could not be that 1 glass of wine could it? I have been sipping water all morning now but feeling exhausted and nauseous. Anyone else have this experience and know why? I am supposed to go out to dinner with friends tonight and to a movie which we already bought tickets for. I thought I would take a nap, shower, drink some more fluids and take it really easy for dinner tonight. I can honestly say for the first time I am really worried about going out to eat with friends. We are going to a Chinese restaurant. I usually nibble on muu shuu chicken but I don't think that will work today with the way I am feeling. Maybe I will have a Protein shake and then simply push some food around on my plate. Could eating and sipping wine slowly have caused this for me. I usually never ever do that unless I have eaten something spicy. Then I might take a small sip just to wash the heat down.
  3. I’m more than 2 months out. I was doing very well keeping everything down and eating all my proteins and staying healthy. But recently I traveled with a group of friends and we partied for 3 days (I’m not usually a drinker but I had a couple of drinks from wine to shots) Since then I can’t keep most of the food down and I feel very nauseous. Has anyone ever experienced this? Is my stomach swollen or something? I’m very worried. Should I go back to liquids?
  4. Hi all! I had my Surgery on 27th of March. And was just wondering If I would be able to drink and smoke, on the 15th of next month. I have read you can get stomach issues from doing so, but I wasn't sure how long you have to wait before doing these things again. Please note, I'm only a social drinker, and smoker and if I cannot do so there is know issues but would be cool if I can by that point. Also, is there any drinks people recommend besides Water? to help mix it up abit and some ways, to drink the 1.5 - 2L of water a day, as I'm struggling very much so with it. And can only seem to drink just over 1L of water a day. And have been waking up with headaches sometimes. But they seem to be getting better. regards, James
  5. Ok Guys, so I've heard that you should be careful drinking after sleeve because you get drunk faster. I'm not a heavy drinker...but I might have a few cocktails, a beer, and a glass of wine if I'm out with friends. Since I'm 385..that really doesn't affect me. Just wandering if you guys can shed some light on how different or not different your tolerance is post-sleeve. I meet with my surgeon in 3 weeks, so I still have a way to go b4 getting sleeved.
  6. Hi everyone! When did everyone have their first sip post surgery? I’m 7 months out now & on vacation. I want to have one cocktail but I’m kind of nervous since I have drank in forever and I don’t eat much.
  7. Hi everyone ! Im 17 days post op and I know i can’t drink til later on. But I was just wondering when did y’all start drinking. I also know carbonated drinks are a no go like beer and such. Im more of a cocktail person. Before surgery I was a social drinker.
  8. I was a drinker. Irish so it's in my blood. My doc gave me permission to have a cocktail this past weekend I am 6 weeks out. He warned me of people trading one addiction (food) for another (alcohol). He mentioned empty calories and the fact that I will be a cheep date because WLS patients process alcohol differently now. So I had 1 cocktail because that is something my husband and I do on Saturday date night. Or did I should say. It was fine. I was fine but the one thing I realized is I'm not a drinker in my new life. It's going to be an adjustment for everyone in my social life especially my wonderful supportive husband. I'm not saying I'm never going to drink again. (I told you I'm Irish). But it is one of the major changes in this new life that I wanted to share. I really thought this was going to be a problem for me. I just hope it's not for others around me. Everyone has been more than supportive and understanding. Time will tell. Thank you all for always being here. Joy
