  1. I had some mild diarrhea and GI distress in my pre-op diet including whey protein, but street surgery the whey protein and whey protein isolate absolutely killed me; super painful diarrhea. I started using plant based and I feel much better. My questions are, one, can anyone recommend a whey alternative that isn’t gross? Two, is there anyone who can tolerate Genepro but not other whey protein? I’ve heard so many people rave about the Genepro in terms of taste, digestion and how readily it dissolves but I don’t want to buy it if it’s just going to make me sick!

    What's the Deal With Genepro?

OK, so I heard of the lawsuit thing, but they're still selling the product. Have they corrected the formulation? They boast 3x better absorption than traditional whey. There's apparently a "Gen2" formula. From all the reviews I read, it seems great.
  3. What types of foods and drink do you pit Genepro in? Ive been trying to put it in cold fair life sugar free chocolate milk and it doesn't dissolve all that well.....
  4. I am 5 days post op and 1 thing before i forget, is I want to highly recommend the GENEPRO Protein flavorless. It gives you 30gms protein in one tablespoon, and I add it to clear broth, chicken, and does not change the flavor at all, and really helps to add to your protein intake for the day. I know people also like the Isopure, I think, but that is too much protein at once for me. Just a suggestion
  5. Tip: I was using this until I read on this site that NUTs don't advise it. That it's not possible to have 30g of protein in 1 tbl as they suggest. I spoke to my nutritionist and she said same thing to stay away. Thanks Nancy
  6. I am prepping some 2 ounce containers for my post-op clear liquids phase. I grew tired of messing with Jello and found that I could dissolve a half scoop of Genepro in a small amount of chicken broth. The total slurry mix fits within the 2 ounce container. That would give me 15 grams of protein per serving, which is WAY more than I doctor up with my Jello attempts. Perhaps a chemist could do better, but I am done. Any reason not to do this? I have 2 containers chilling in the refrigerator now as a test run. I assume it will separate a bit, but I could just shake it. I really like the taste of the broth and don't expect the Genepro to mess with the flavor, but I know the consistency must thicken a bit. Thoughts? Thanks!

  8. Has anyone tried and had good results with Genepro protein?

  9. Finally growing tired on chocolate premier shakes. Going to switch to genepro for a few weeks and come back. What shakes do you guys prefer?

I like Quest protein. And they have various flavors: Chocolate milkshake, vanilla milkshake, salted caramel, banana crème, strawberry crème, cookies and crème, peanut butter

  10. When it comes to unflavored protein powders - are Unjury and Genepro TRULY unflavored? I tried Isopure unflavored and it was definitely not unflavored. It also made my Crystal Light thicker, which was gross. Please let me know what you think!!
  11. Has anyone tried the new Genepro, 3rd generation, sold in the orange canister? I was disappointed the old one (sold in white bags) is gone, as it was the only unflavored protein powder I couldn’t taste nor smell. Others make me nauseous. I read bad reviews of the new formula on Amazon so wanted to see if anyone here has experience with it. Thanks! Edit: upon reading the fine print, the new version has a larger scoop and only a third of the protein of the old version. Not just bad volume wise, but also nutritionally and pricewise. Looks like I will need to find the old version or use a different brand from now on.

Hi guys. How do I mix GENEPRO into hot decaf coffee without it being grainy? Also can I ditch the shakes since I use genepro now? I really don't like the shakes anymore. Sent from my Nexus 5 using the BariatricPal App

    Genepro powder

Does anyone use this? What do you mix yours with?? Can you mix it with anything regardless of temp... I know it says hot or cold - just paranoid Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  14. I tried to use GENEPRO in my coffee this morning but it got lumpy and then I found a lot at the bottom when I was done. Anyone have a trick for me to get it to blend smoothly? My coffee mug is probably 1.5 cups
  15. I am newly sleeved(12/08/15) and am still working on getting protein through food alone. I have tried premier protein ready to drink shakes, which I really like, and isopure, which I found less than desirable (maybe the flavors I tried?). My question is have any of you tried Genepro? I read that it can be mixed into anything without the chunky, grainy texture of some powders. It is also supposed to be flavorless. Anyone use or have tried it? Opinions? Thank you!!
  16. very interested in the low "dosage" of just 1 tablespoon of the genepro protein powder but it really does sound too good to be true. i have not found any stats or research on it other than listed from the company so i was wondering if anyone has any actual third party info on it? anyone have good protein levels while on it? i know it will not be my only source of protein but i don't want to waste time and money if it is bogus. it just seems like mixing a tablespoon in something would be much easier than your standard size 1/4 cup serving/dosage. thanks in advance!!!
  17. Which do you prefer post-surgery? I'm still pre surgery going in on May 10. I've been test driving some different Protein powders and while I don't want to overly stock up in case my tastes change I know I need to have something on hand. I tried unjury today in some chicken broth and found it to be totally fine. It made the broth a little creamy tasting which took some getting used to but I definitely didn't find it to be offensive. However, there was a lot of powder to stir into my two cups of broth (I was using a pre measured packet). The GENEPRO is appealing because of the smaller quantity and the high amount of protein. If you've tried both can you tell me how they compare in terms of taste? I have a small supply of flavored Protein drinks that I've sampled and liked. I'm looking for suggestions on unflavored to mix with broth or juice. Thanks.
  18. For people who use the Musclegen GENEPRO powder, what do you mix it with? juice? I get mine in the mail today and I want to be all set to start it tonight or in the morning. I am newly sleeved (2.5 weeks post op) and I have a volume issue. I am wondering if I can dissolve it in maybe like a 1/2 cup or cup of juice and not taste it. Oh, and does it have a particular smell to it? I have had a bad issue with Protein drink smells lately.
  19. Hi everyone. I'm 14 months post-op at goal and looking for ways to increase my Protein intake to increase my muscle weight as I exercise. I came across recommendations for GENEPRO on this website but the claims of one scoop having 30 grams of protein seemed too good to be true. After a bit of research on Amazon reviews and searching here it seems others have caught on too. It seems the label is possibly misleading and never states what a serving size is. one scoop may only have 15 grams of protein. I don't have the product so I'm hoping someone out in Bariatric land can confirm the facts and let me know! Can someone also tell me how many calories are in a scoop? http://BariatricPal.com/index.php?/topic/330098-Genepro-Users-check-this-out%2E/page__view__findpost__p__3730842
  20. In 2014 we posted about a lawsuit brought against Genepro (Musclegen) by Syntrax (SI03 Inc.) for false advertising. We just received the following statement from Genepro (Musclegen): "With us winning the case for relief from SI03, we have now filed a counterclaim against them for false advertising and purposely filing against us in 2014 for personal gain with no basis for filing. We are confident that the courts will rule in our favor. The original suit has been incredibly detrimental to our business and we are now pleading to the courts for their help in rectification." I'm attaching some of the original lawsuit as well as the court's order granting a motion for relief. "IT IS HEREBY ORDERED that Defendant Musclegen Research, Inc. 's Motion for Relief (ECF No. 53) is GRANTED. IT IS FURTHER ORDERED that the Default Judgement (ECF No. 29) is VACATED." 70, Answer, Affirmatve Defenses, and Counterclaims.pdf 70-1, Exhibit 1.pdf 70-2, Exhibit 2.pdf 70-3, Exhibit 3-1.pdf 70-4, Exhibit 4-1.pdf 59 - order granting motion for relief.pdf
  21. So ive read over and over and over how Genepro protein powder is lieing about having 30 grams of protein per serving and how it cant have 30 grams of protein in it if it only has 58 calories in it cuz protein has 4 calories per gram and on and on and on and yadda yadda yadda! UNDERSTAND WHAT YOU READ!!!!!! They are saying that their serving size gives you THE EQUIVALENT AMOUNT OF PROTEIN THAT WILL BE ABSORBED BY YOUR BODY AS IN A 30 GRAM SCOOP OF WHEY PROTEIN!!!!!!!!!! 1 tblspn of Genepro 2 will give you the same protein blood level (actual absorbed protein into your body/blood) count as a 30 gram scoop of whey protein because whey protein has a very low rate of absorption by the human body!!!!!! I agree the label can be a bit tough to understand unless you read what it says EXACTLY! You will see the 30 gram statement followed by ** and when you go down to what ** means/relates too, its the clinical study that showed just what ive stated above...that 1 tablespoon of Genepro 2 will give your body the same amount of ABSORBED PROTEIN AS 30 GRAMS OF WHEY PROTEIN! Whey protein has a very low rate of absorption...approx 30-45% MAX absorption rate with most being around the 30-35% which means a scoop of whey protein that contains 30 grams of protein gives you about 10-12 grams of protein that is actually absorbed by the body. 1 tablespoon of GENEPRO 2 gives you approx 10-12 grams of protein absorbed by the body! Clinical study proved that 1 Tablespoon of GENEPRO 2 would give you the same amount of ABSORBED PROTEIN as a scoop of whey protein containing 30 grams of protein! GOT IT???? LOL! Thats laymens terms of course but i think thats what is need here and it needed to be repeated a few times for normal folks to grasp! LOL! AGAIN...BOTTOM LINE LAYMENS TERMS...1 TABLESPOON OF GENEPRO2 GIVES YOU THE SAME AMOUNT OF PROTEIN ABSORBED BY YOUR BODY AS A SCOOP OF WHEY PROTEIN CONTAINING 30 GRAMS OF PROTEIN. Genepro2 has a very high absorption rate...so consider a scoop of Genepro2 will get you approx 10-15 grams of protein absorbed by your body! ABSORBED BY YOUR BODY IS THE IMPORTANT FACT/NUMBER ETC AS WHATS NOT ABSORBED DOESNT DO YOU ANY GOOD! Some vitamins are the same way, examples being D, magnesium and others...to get 50 mgs ABSORBED BY YOUR BODY YOU HAVE TO TAKE 5 TIMES MORE/250 MGS SINCE ABSORPTION RATE IS SO POOR. I hope this helps and remember that 1 serving of the GENEPRO2 will get you about 10-15 grams of protein absorbed by the body. If you need to get an extra 75 grams of protein above what you will eat in your food then you will need to take 5-7 scoops/serving sizes. FOR BEST RESULTS AS FAR AS TASTE OR CHEMICAL SMELL GOES...DO NOT HEAT UP PROTEIN AT ALL! MIX IT COLD WITH SOMETHING AND POUND IT DOWN QUICKLY! I have always lifted weights and worked out seriously and have learned over the years how much my body can absorb of any given protein product. Your body will only absorb its max amount of protein and then it will come out your rear end! We have always tought other people that were lifting weights and taking supplements to gain lean muscle mass to find that max point with which ever protein product you are using and then back down from there. Work your way up to max rate when your body will get rid of excess and then slowly back down servings until you hit that happy point. GOOD LUCK TO YOU ALL!

    Rant Genepro Protein Shills

Is it just me or does the rash of raves about Genepro Protein on this board lately sound very scripted? If you are shilling for the company you need to be open and above board. I have never tried the product and based on the red flags that go up when I read these "reviews" I won't be trying it. Does anyone else have a problem with this kind of covert marketing?
