Newbie looking for Oct sleevers!
KarenF1972 replied to Marielbx's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Hey everyone, it's a "does anyone else have this" post: I've noticed just over the last hour or so that I am getting a moderate pain in my left abdomen, about midway between my belly button and my side. (This side has been more sore because that's where they pulled my stomach out.) I get just a little jolt of pain and then it goes away. Of course (TMI) I haven't had a bowel movement of any kind in the last couple days so I'm thinking it may be that??? Thanks! -
@Luna222--Hey there! Missed you! I'm doing good. (If you read back a little ways, I just got engaged! Whoohoo!!) So you're still stuck?? Are you measuring too? Wondering if you're toning and losing inches? TMI Alert!!---I've been stuck at about 158-159 since I got home from vacation. But it's also been at least a week since I've really "gone to the bathroom." And I take a mild natural pill to help keep things moving and still nothing...UNTIL this morning. Whew!!! Pretty sure that scale will have moved when I weigh again tomorrow morning. Wowzers! (sorry... )

@Bronxmerci: I can really relate to your experience! I had the same thing: an upper GI bleed. (I have posted this in more detail in other threads under my user name.) This was after having complications and an extended hospital stay for the RNY surgery. I was slowly bleeding to death that first month after surgery. I kept telling my health care team that something was wrong. (At the risk of TMI, I was only passing black goo.) But no one was listening. I felt like my epitaph would read like that one on Boot Hill, "I told you I was sick!" A month after surgery, I was getting up for work like I had been for a week before, and I felt too weak to continue. I told my wife I'd call in sick. She took one look at me and said I was "cadaver yellow", in her words. She told me to lay down because she was calling 911. Within five minutes, five paramedics showed up at my house. They checked me out and told me I was going to the hospital by ambulance. My first ambulance ride. Yay. At the hospital, they did an upper GI and cauterized the upper GI bleeders. I stayed in the hospital after that too. Now I can almost laugh about it. My health care team said it put me about a month behind a normal recovery. I'm still not sure about that. It might have been more. But I'm healthy now. I don't have to take all the meds I used to. I'm not using CPAP. I'm not pre-diabetic anymore. Last September I even completed my first ever "half-century" (50 mile) bike ride--Spokefest 2014! It does get better. Even for those of us who've had complications. It will get better for you too.

So yesterday was a tough one. My bf cooked scrambled eggs and bacon, so I decided to have a piece of toast and make a little half egg sandwich. He of course thought I was making a babad choice w the toast. I tried to explain to him that my nut told me I can have toast. We got in a huge fight. Over TOAST! He eventually apologized, and I tried to explain to him that he needs to just be there for me and stop policing what I eat. I grew up in that type of environment, I definitely don't need that now, especially after thus surgery. He felt bad and took me to a movie and dinner lol. So at the movies, he had candy. I tried 2 Swedish fishes. 5 min later, my heart was racing! No nausea or anything like that, just my heart. I have a heart rate monitor on my phone, my bpm was 96! I got up and went to the bathroom, ended up dry heaving of course, and then I just sat there for a good 15 min to calm myself. It eventually subsided and I was good. My friend told me certain sweets make her bug out like that too. So weird, it was almost like I drank 5 red bulls or something lol. So we went to Applebee's after that. I ended up getting the Fiesta lime chicken breast with mashed potatoes instead of the rice it comes with. Ate a tiny bit and boxed the rest for lunch. So yummy! I'm noticing that I haven't needed my colace for a few weeks, but the last week or so, I've been getting diarrhea every day, especially in the morning. Sorry for the tmi! Just starting to worry me. As for the holiday cooking, my parents ordered a bunch of Italian stuff for Christmas day, like ziti, lasagna, sausage and peppers, eggplant parm, pasta salad, Italian bread...all stuff I can't eat! I'm kind of annoyed :-/ I'm going to have to get a ham steak or something to cook for myself with some potatoes. Gonna have to be the oddball out! Happy Holidays everyone!

@ Bronxmerci I understand the blood cloth got to your liver. Not much you could do about that. Raw deal and it just plain sucks, there is no way to sugar coat it. But you can make it through this. One step at a time. Gladiators are fighters and so are you. Are you able to go to bathroom? If you can, I have a suggestion for a TMI bath of sorts. I asked for a couple towels and wash cloth. They also gave me a little bar of soap. I used the wash cloth with some soap for face, neck, pits and what I could reach. Then using one of the big towels which I wet with warm Water and a touch of soap and go it as twisted as I could to wring out the water. Very carefully I placed a leg on top of the toilet using the door handle for support. I then, after a few attempts was able to swing the towel between legs and catch it with the other hand. Then did a dental floss sort of clean working my towel. I felt human again because I too couldn't shower and felt gross. I used the last towel to dry up. I decided to make this post public because I thought others may benefit from it. It is hard to keep clean as our tummy has 6 holes and is sore and we can't bend our waist as before. This is the reality nobody talks about but it can make such a difference in our outlook if at least we can feel clean.

I'm sorry for the TMI, but I'm so uncomfortable from not being able to move my bowels I have hardly been able to in about 3 days. I've been taking the colace, and still no. Today I was ok, had eggs for breakfast, my bf and I went out and about and I took a protein shake with me. I drank 4oz of it and about 15 min after my last sip I was in so much pain, right in the middle of my belly. I felt like I had to go and I felt like I had to puke. We stopped at a bathroom and I couldn't do either. Pain wasn't going away so I called the nurse line. She told me to do an enema (ew!)...soo I stopped and got one, we went home, I did it, it worked a LITTLE bit, and then I took a 3 hr nap. I woke up and the pain was gone for the most part...but I still feel blah. I'm not hungry, I'm afraid to eat. I just want water and Popsicles. Idk if it's happening from eating more foods now on puree? I was going just fine last week On a happier note, I've just realized that I have lost 40 lbs since June, and 20 since surgery 2 weeks ago. I def feel better other than the belly cramps. My arthritis isn't as bad it seems, I am able to walk up the stairs and not cry. My boyfriend looked at me today and said "wow babe, you're looking really good", which made me feel good of course. As for sex...I miss it lol. We were so excited cuz I got the ok from doc last week, and then I got my period. Next week I guess lol.

Thanks Luna! A couple years ago I had a bad UTI. I didn't have any pain then either. I went to the Dr. because my pee smelled REALLY WEIRD! The Dr. pretty much scolded me for letting it go that long because it could go from bad to worse really quickly and you could have permanent damage? Really? But I didn't have pain, so why would I have gone to the Dr. earlier? I did just notice the last couple days that even when I'd wipe, it was really dark yellow, even on the TP. (sorry, TMI) You should definitely check with your Dr. to see if you're dehydrated though, Luna. The leg cramps are for sure a sign of that.

Anyone experienced weird bowel movement symptoms? TMI but... I have had white and beige poop for the last two weeks. No nausea. But my umbilical hernia was hurting last week.

Ugh. Frustrated. I have been hovering around 186.6 to 186.8 for the past couple of weeks. I kicked up the walking last week and on friday when i weighed it was 186.0. Yesssss!!! Or so i thought. Last night i ate chips and queso and it had sausage in it. This morning i decided to weigh myself. 186.6. I dunno if it was from the salt in the chips or sausage. But ugh! So now I am cranky! And I am constipated (tmi, i know but its adding to my crankiness). AND that one incision is still goopy and unhealed. Seriously. Surgery was 9/22 and i still have a freaken open wound??!! Just when it starts to get better it looks worse. Its right at my pant line so sitting rubs it. Its also on my left side and i sleep on my left side so i dont think thats helping. A nurse friend of mine told me not to get it wet bc it seems like when the scab is soft from the water it busts open. I have been covering it when i shower but i cant keep it covered 24 hrs bc then it doesnt scab up. Ugh. At least it isnt my port incision. I ate pizza friday night....just remembered that. And then i wonder why i gained .8 in 2 days. Lol. 1 slice and it went down ok as long as i chewed like crazy. No way would it have gone down if I'd had a fill. My goal is also 50#s by christmas which i think is reasonable. My long term goal at this point is around 150. That is what i got down to after my first baby (granted i was 21). I looked in my medical records to see what i weighed then and it varied between 150-160. I pulled out some pictures to see how i looked and man, i was hot. Lol. Hope everyone has a good week! Samsies! I've been eating the same post fill as i did pre fill! Trying to cut back, but i get so hungry it physically hurts. Alos, with the diabetes, if i don't eat enough of the right foods, i slip into hypoglycemia. Not Fun. Have had some semi-stuck feelings, but i just drink some Water and that helps. UH! I need to exercise more, but i don't have a gym membership, my bicycle broke, and i don't live in the nicest neighborhood so going for an early morning run, or an evening walk is a no-no. I'm so frustrated! I generally go to the beach to walk/run/jog with my dog, but gas is so expensive and i still haven't found a job so i have to save what little gas i do have for school. I hope December is a better month for me, Though i am still not giving up on November! I've wanted to have this surgery since i heard about it when i was 16, now at 24 I've gone through with it, so i really need to push and stay motivated! I'm slowly heading back up the scale, but i have been noticing that my clothes are feeling big, and my bra's don't hold anything anymore (Sorry for the TMI guys), so perhaps i'm gaining muscle? Hope so, though, I'd rather lose weight. -
Ditto what Judy said: Just don't get skinnier than us! Pam, I had that same thought re: the pb'ing & eating something cool/soothing, so I slowly ate a sugar-free cherry popsicle... THAT's what I pb'd into the ziploc in the car... which doesn't look good when you pb red liquid into a clear baggie, btw! I know, TMI! Lots of work to do today... everyone make it a good one!

Specific friend advice needed! Pic included
CrazyJaney replied to dreamscometrue's topic in Rants & Raves
Man, you dudes are clueless - and I say that in the nicest way possible! To those who think you should sing the praises of WLS from the highest mountain, did you ever think people get tired of hearing ALL about it? I don't care what others do but think about how others perceive you. I had a coworker get a RNY about 8 years ago. She went on and on and on and on about it for months! People were so sick of hearing about it. She didn't have a lot of family so maybe she needed people to listen. But trust me, it was TMI! And why do you think they put HIPPA laws into action? It's called privacy and it's a basic rite in healthcare. For those of us who work in healthcare, we are a snarky bunch. I choose to not cause a general distraction and keep them occupied with gossip. My closet inner circle knows. I have zero intention of answering questions about my weight or listening to acquaintances opinions on WLS. Give her a break for not telling people! It's her damn rite! I think many have misread the OP comments that this isn't a best friend anymore. You don't have to take out a sign on the interstate telling everyone nor is everyone entitled to a full disclosure about your life just because you were friends once. Lordy! This thread sure brought out some opinions! -
... what's a weepy rash? I get this too, under my boobs and apron area. It doesn't happen all the time, but enough to make it obnoxious. I didn't even think to try to buy anything for it, I was trying to keep it warm. These are great hints that I'm going to try. Also, this may be TMI, but it smells. I mean, you can't smell it normally, but if I touch the sweat or wetness, and snif (don't laugh, you know you've done it too!) :lovechoc: it stinks!

Just discovered a new method for "unplugging" stuck food!
stinaNYC posted a topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Or, at least, I *think* it's new! I just can't believe I didn't think of it before! Lots of TMI ahead, so beware: So I had a fill on Wednesday afternoon to about 2.25 cc (I had been unfilled to 1 cc for vacation on my request). 48 hours of liquids, and this afternoon I was ready to switch to mushies. I thought that very thin black bean Soup would be just right. Yeah, well... I was wrong. So an hour and a half after I ate 3 spoonfulls, I'm sliming and all the other wonderful stuff that comes with being "plugged up". I haven't PBd in over a month b/c of the unfill, and I didn't want to try to force the plug back up. In a flash of (IMO) brilliance, I looked at my gym schedule sitting on my desk and realized that I was missing my yoga class. Hmmm...yoga...mat work... Downward-facing dog? Let's give it a shot! So I did the downward-facing dog move...and lo! The plug of black Beans just effortlessly cascaded back up (or down, as it were)! No retching, no stressing the band! I just can't believe I hadn't thought of this before! Okay...which one of you was holding out on me about this! -

Yesterday's Menu - July 31st 5'2" βοΈ 9m post-op 115.1 lbs (maintaining) It's after midnight, so I figure I can write this up now. Spoiler alert: the day ended with a big downer... 10:10 am: 2 cups black coffee (10 cals) 2:30 pm: *only ate 2/3 of this* salad + 2 oz grilled chicken + .75 oz duck breast + 1 oz feta cheese + 1oz carrots (227 cals) 4:40 pm: *ate the remaining 1/3 of my 2:30 meal* 6:30 pm: 1/4 cup low cal ice cream + 1/4 cup brownie w/ frosting (330 cals) 7:30 pm: *drinks and apps at a bar* 1oz beef jerky + buffalo cauliflower + blue cheese dip + 1/2 a vodka caesar (550 cals) Totals: 1117 cals, 53g Protein, 66g NET carbs, 79g fat 10:45 pm: suspicious tummy rumbling begins... TMI ALERT!! So the ride home from the bar was pretty stressful as 2 minutes after I got in the car, I suddenly needed to get to a washroom BADLY..something apparently didn't agree with me and I had some explosive poop as a result. Luckily I made it home before the explosion happened in my pants. I suspect the dumping was due to the blue cheese dip, but it could very well had been the cauliflower, it was especially greasy and I ate quite a bit of it. Or...it could have been the brownie I ate beforehand. The onset of this, however, was much later than my previous dumping experiences as those started within 10-20 minutes of eating the offending food...so yeah, i feel pretty crappy right now

I won't be there for themeeting. Bummer that would be awesome. I won't be home till Sunday. I still take prilosec for acid even though dr Le toldme I could go off of it. I stopped it for a while and felt the same as Lee. So I just take it. I don't mind. I no longer take bp meds, cholesterol meds, and I'm cured of my sleep apnea. it's a great trade off. Oh and sorry if TMI, but before I lost all this weight I would sweat so bad on a trip like this walking around Disneyland all day. But now I feel normal. No more sweating like a stuck hog. Yeah. I Was Sleeved In May And Just Found Out I Am Pregnant
Feeling Free replied to Seemebetter's topic in Pregnancy with Weight Loss Surgery
I too suffered with hyperemesis and the constant spitting (sorry TMI) during both of my pregnancies thus the 9 year age difference. Said I was not going through that again. I was put on medication in the second pregnancy and it worked so ask your doctor for something. No need for you to suffer. Hugs -
This may be TMI but anyone still having problems with diarrhea? No matter what I eat or drink I'm going a few times a day. And by going I mean GOING. Ugh.

Thanks. I can see a difference now! Feeling good and DH is getting downright frisky! TMI.... sorry!

How many of you had diarrhea post bypass? How long did it last?
EmKat posted a topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
Warning: TMI. Hi all. I had my gastric bypass on 10/6 so I am 16 days post op. I am having diarrhea to the point of incontinence and have resorted to wearing a pad to prevent any accidents. Iβm so mortified. My diet has advanced to soft foods like scrambled eggs, yogurts cottage cheeses, etc. My surgeon is very liberal on advancing the post op diet. I donβt have dumping because it happens at random times. This is completely new for me. Before the surgery I had just the opposite issue and dealt with constipation occasionally. Just wondering if anyone else had a similar problem. Thanks in advance. -
What do you wish you'd known before lap band surgery?
gowalking replied to Sarah A's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I needed my port moved as well. No tummy tuck but it stuck out like a golf ball. Even got caught on my belt sometimes and warning...might be TMI, but certain positions in the bedroom caused a problem as well. Not anymore though now that it's tucked behind the muscle..
