    Major NSVs!

I'm 7 weeks out. I'm down 56 pounds but more exciting to me is I have lost 5 inches in my waist and my hips. I'm down from 24 pants to 18; and some 18s are getting loose! I bought a shirt at the store last weekend. It was in the regular section so I didn't know if it would fit. I held up the XL and thought it fit. Got home and I was swimming in it! Went back and tried on the medium. It fit well but the bust area looked odd the way it was cut because I'm still a D. So I got the L and it looks good even though its a bit big. Unbelievable! I also lost three inches under my bust and I'm having to use the inner clasp. I'm putting off getting new bras as long as I can. Also I talked to my daughter who is 9. I was talking to her about eating habits and told her I don't want her to end up over weight like me. She said she didn't think I was overweight. If only we could see ourselves through their eyes! I'm able to walk up the stairs at work which are huge without grabbing the rail or feeling tired. I have a lot more energy too!

    2 new NSV's

Okay, so this weekend I decided to try on a formal pencil dress. they didn't have my size, so I tried on one size smaller. Guess what! It fit!!!!!!! I didn't even need to unzip it! I just slipped it right on. I was just window shopping, so I didn't buy it, but I might go back and get it because I have a wedding to go to in 2 weeks. The second one was that I was sitting at a restaurant eating, and thought to myself, " gee, I think my stomach is shrinking!" LMAO!!!!
  5. I guess that would be a good way to discourage DH from using all the gas in my vehicle!! That is a funny NSV, my port area is still sorta numb....now is that crazy?? Annie, can u really feel the tube??
  6. What exactly is NSV?
  7. Not my first NSV, but I am excited about it. We went to an amusement park and I fit on all the rides!! WAHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

My first NSV! Share yours as they happen!

This is a different kind of NSV -- I got out one of my pretty spring/summer dresses to wear to church this a.m. because I know I won't be able to wear this size again soon. I have been avoiding wearing dresses because I just didn't feel pretty due to my weight so I splurged yesterday and got a manicure and pedicure, got my nails done in a pretty hot pink and I'm stepping out in style this morning holding my head high. Hope everyone has a great Sunday!

So Shaving Your Legs And Being Obese

Ha, I've actually found I have to shave more often and it takes longer since I've lost weight! But I'm not complaining. I think the changes in my hormones regulating has made my hair grow faster, and now I've got all the bumps to maneuver around again -- knee caps, ankles, etc. Another great NSV!
  10. Hi there, I guess it's true that Time flies when you're having fun; I've been having a lot of that. Honestly, I cannot believe that two years ago today I was waking up from surgery and beginning a new chapter in my life. I had no idea then of the many ways my life would be reshaped aside from the shape of my body. I'm forever grateful the band was available to me as it has been the perfect choice for my situation. We are all different. I was 52 at the time and had never been an overnight patient in a hospital before. I can barely tolerate going to the dentist. Getting a band was a big decision but I was fortunate somehow to just know that that's what I wanted to do. Thank goodnes there are so many different surgery choices available to us; we live in marvellous times. Two years ago I was 250+ and now I'm in the seventies. I'm a little tall and like my curves (oh my goodness, do I LOVE having a waist!) so I don't want to get too thin. But a word about collarbones: YIPPEE! And hips. Wrists. You know how it is -- I'm celebrating this new body every day. I was wearing size twenty pants and am now in tens. No more Plus Size anything. I would not have predicted that I have a thing for clothes, but oh yes, I sure do. It's so much fun to be able to just try something on without all of that angst. I have been an exerciser for many years (arthritis - have to move) but in the last two years I have ratcheted up to being more of an athlete. I feel ridiculous even typing that out as it's such a foreign concept. I used to work out for 45 minutes 3-4 times a week; well, it turns out I am some one who needs more like 75-90 minutes 5-6 times a week. There's the faking it until making it thing and that's what I did. I pretended that I liked it, that I was one of "those" people until I actually have become something resembling one of those lucky people who truly look forward to exercising. Like I said, resembling. I'm not quite there but I raise my hands up in that crossing the finish line pose and I go do what I need to do and I feel like a million bucks afterward. Food. I am happy to report that I still like food. I can taste almost anything and be quite satisfied. That is a miracle. I love to cook and one of my weird non-scale victories (NSVs) is being able to tie my apron double around my waist. I love that. All those years in all those kitchens with my big fat Winnie-the-Pooh belly in an ill-fitting apron or Chef's jacket. No more. Silly, but that just feels so good. I was very restrictive in my former life so I am careful to not be on a diet. I make good choices, which I can do because my appetite is dimmed and I know what good choices are. But I also let myself have a little bit of whatever I want, whether that's a square of chocolate or cheese (behold, the power of cheese). This is why I still have a little weight to lose but I'm okay with that. I do drink alcohol and we have a lot of dinner parties, go to restaurants, etc. Practically no one knows I am banded; I'm extremely private about that. What people do see, however, is how much I'm exercising and how good I feel. It was important for me to go a bit slowly because I wanted the weight loss to be incremental and I didn't want to have saggy skin. Well, that's about it. I am tremendously grateful to all of my Lapband Talk friends and now Bariatric Pal. You know who you are -- the encourageers. Virtual friends. This has been my first experience on a forum and it's been great. Best wishes to all of you wherever you are in the process. For new people, a few words: don't get too hung up on what kind of surgery you had; we have much more in common than not. Don't try to give or take advice from strangers on the internet. Have a good working relationship with your doctor and show up for all your appointments. Show up for yourself! I really had to put myself first to get the surgery and choose my own well-being over taking care of other people's needs first. I don't do that any more and, guess what, every one else benefits from that. Here's to our health!

    Nsv!

Congrats Laurend. I wish I'd taken my measurements before the surgery. I had a similar NSV today. My boyfriend had bought me these flannel house pants type things the day of my surgery so I'd have something comfortable to wear post surgery. Well of course I couldn't get them on which was no surprise. I decided to try them on tonight and I'm wearing them! They are even a little loose. So even though I haven't lost that much weight something is changing! This is fun!

    November chat...again....

I'm doing my sunday pot roast in the crock. Tomorrow instead of beef stew (with leftovers) I am going to shred it and make beef sandwiches, with swiss cheese. We are having a house guest for a week so I will cook everynight. He actually lives about 30 miles south of here but he is doing some training for work and it is north of us so he stays with us to save the insane commute. It saves him about 2 hours each way in the car each day. It's almost like he isn't here, he comes in eats dinner and crashes in my basement to sleep, he is up and out long before we get up each morning. So basically I have a few more towels to wash and a dinner guest each night for a week. My house is kinda like a frat house in that respect, our friends come here and stay when needed, our door is always open. There is usually food of some kind in the fridge and they all know where towels and such are. We have a friend that lives in FL and we have told him when they come to Iowa to visit family they should drop in for a day or two on their way home. He said, I'll call and make plans, I said nonsense, call and let me know you are on your way, I always have room for friends. So if anyone ever come to Chicago, I have a place for you to stay. I have a fully finished basement, with a beautiful fireplace and private bath. Just let me know.... I managed to rake the back yard today, it's not huge but that is a huge NSV for me. A year ago I would be struggling to breath, this time I raked and came in and cleaned the master bathroom. I took a shower and started dinner in the crock. I am getting ready to vaccum, and then cnahge the sheets on Abi's bed. I did mine yeaterday. I try not to change all the beds the same day, way too much laundry. I am going to be listing a bunch of stuff on Ebay later today, all of the American Girl stuff that Abi never plays with. I'm sad to see it go but she asked for some big stuff (size not dollar amount) for Christmas so we need the room. Also it will give someone a chance to get some very nice things that they might not ba able to afforad any other way. I know that her first American girl came from Ebay, I saved about $40 buying it that way. I have a huge bin of stuff to sell, I should be taking pictures right now, but I am hanging out here and drining my hot tea. Oreo is snuggld up so close to me I can feel her breath on my leg, she is soooo warm I hate to move her. She tried to get in the shower with me this morning and she stayed right with me in the back yard the whole time. She has become really attached to me, she is my little sweetie. I will check in again later. ~Mandy

    November chat...again....

Hey All - Another exotic and exciting day in Mortgage Lending.... Let's see - where to begin? Eileenie - if you are well enough - perhaps we can meet for lunch next week. I will be in town on Wed afternoon and thru the full work day on Friday. Thursday or Friday work for you? Mandy - Ah - love that kid - but isn't it nice when she goes to school? :] Chris - You're easy (at least on the Humor scale) Anne - you are so right about my lucky man. I remind him frequently. :] I love that Barbie thing, too. It's hysterical! (and all too true) Kat - I love the Black and White classic look. And Aw Shucks - you are too skinny to wear my party dress! I bet you are truly heartbroken over that.... lol! (anybody else? It will fit a pear between like 16 & 22) Betty - oh sure. Now I am going to have to fess up that I haven't made it back to the gym, STILL. *sigh*. Laziness, thy name is Irene. I suppose that if we both won the "big" lottery at the same time, I could survive sharing with you, Betty. Agreed? I think 200 million would probably split well between the two of us. :] Mary - wow! Your town has all those cool winter activities! We don't handle winter at all well here in Dallas. The city literally shuts down if we get more than an inch of snow. Employers let us use sick or vacation time to cover the absences.... I used to laugh when I first got here - until I started seeing the accidents on the roads. ***ICK*** But, I personally think a little White Christmas action is a good thing - ESPECIALLY since I will probably get to stay home! Cindy - cool about the Walmart Custom CD thing. I might have to do that, too. I have the same problem with only liking a few songs. The older I get, the more particular I become.... I think they haven't published any good whole albums since the 80's... LOL! Patty - HI!!!! So glad to see you. So, when is the time estimate to hear back on the appeal docs? Did they JUST submit? I remember this waiting between appeals to be particularly trying for me. I got pretty antsy. One thing I did was call once a week to "follow up" on the process. At least I knew right away that "they never recieved the paperwork". I would not rely on the Attorney's office... follow up yourself. You will feel better about having taken some action. At least, I did. Dianne - NOT wear a BRA??!?! - That's just Crazy Talk.... :] Seriously - unless you are going to drop down to a B cup - you probably will always want to wear one - but at least if you are a C or a D you will be able to FIND one that fits - any time, anywhere. Yep. A trip to VS is on my list of NSV's for the future. I REALLY want to be able to go in there and not have those supermodel chicklets that they always seem to hire LAUGH when I come in. Hurry back and give us all the news! Well my dears - I am past my lunch hour, again. I have to get back to the old grind and keep on top of the pile - cause if the weather is crappy - I WON'T BE HERE. :] I really hope it snows - HARD. Or better yet - freezing rain. :]
  16. I rode rollercoasters all day yesterday. It was an awesome NSV!

    May Bandsters~December Chat!

Marz - Congrats on the new sizes! I also wondered about all of the other members. Some of them may only post on the B2G website now but I'm not sure about that. It would be nice to see how everyone else is doing. I tried to take some pictures of myself last night to post on here. My DH is working nights this week so I had to set up the camera and use the timer, etc. The pictures are not that great. Plus they are in some weird format and I am not sure how to switch them to JPEG so, hopefully the hubby can work on that for me today. I might have some on here tomorrow. We have dial up internet at home so I won't attempt it at home. I have a NSV that I just realized this morning. I can finally use a regular sized bathtowel to dry off with until of the giant bath sheet. It actually closes together now! And I am almost just overweight. .8 lbs away from never being obese again! Woohoo!
  19. OK, I couldn't wait any longer. I have to see who else is scheduled for October. The closer it gets the more I'm looking forward to the surgery. Well, not the actual surgery.......but you understand what I mean. Is anyone going to have surgery in Tijuana on the 11th? I'm looking forward to possibly meeting someone from the message board during my trip. I know that I will be at the same recovery house that is used by Dr. Almanza. I keep thinking about all of the NSV's I'm looking forward to happening. I swear everyday I think of a new one. Today's is .....looking forward to not being so sweaty all of the time. :001_tongue:

2 Weeks and on Liquid Diet

Hey, thanks. You've just started your great journey. You'll love all the NSV like (you mentioned) walking up stairs, parking all the way across from the supermarket just so you can walk, housework without tiring quickly or aching, shopping wherever you want, passing a store window and smiling...
  21. mine usually last a couple of weeks (3-4). I am currently in one now and was hoping to make a goal of a 6 lb loss by 12/31...didn't happen. I also went up 2lbs! That was different for me, I usually just stall but the 2lbs is a new thing for me. I have had numerous comments about the weight loss in last few days so I am going to try on my size 12 jeans. NSVs are the best!

I Love When People Talk About Me!!

My motto has been if they are talking about me, they are leaving others alone. I am sure that your lady is jealous of the new you! It is kind of a NSV of sorts, isn't it! You do look great! Karen

WARNING...NON-SCALE VICTORY (NSV) AHEAD! So I am out for my walk today, just going along, admiring the view of this beautiful day and minding my own business. Most of the walk was uneventful, outside of saying HI to a few people I would pass by here and there, until I made my way back home, a car came by and some TWENTYSOMETHING guy whistled out the window at me! ROFL. Wow, how long has it been since that has happened? I have no idea *grin*....but it certainly feels great! The funny thing was, I had nothing revealing or outstanding on...just a casual outfit of capris and matching top. Of course, they were a couple of sizes smaller. Heh.

NSV...NSV...NSV My little brother came to visit me today. Well, he's 26 but little to me. Anyway, he was showing off his new car to me and in the middle of him talking about all the great features the car came with, he just stopped. He gave me this look, then said;" Yenken, you really look like you've lost weight." My family does not know about my band. I told a bunch of my friends about but no one in my family. I just couldn't believe it. My li'l ole chasin the girls, need to have a benz but no furniture in his apartment, brother of mine noticed. I had one of the Kool-ade grins . That really meant a lot to me.
