hey everyone!! How are all of y'all doing?? I'm 26 days post op and doing really good! Still having trouble getting enough protein, but I am getting about 30g a day at least. I'm trying! went for my follow up with the doc and he said I should be eating 1000 calories a day! Not exactly sure how that would be possible!!! I'm getting MAYBE 400-500. I really never thought there would be a point in my life when someone telling me I had to have 1000 calories a day would seem like too much. It's crazy to think about the life change in just less than a month. as for my weight...I've lost 18lb which I was so excited about when I had lost that in just 2 weeks. But I haven't lost anything since that 2 week mark. Really was hopinh that 3 week stall would skip me but no such luck! I'm going to start working out this week so hopefully that'll get things moving again! I have a beach trip at the end of may for my birthday so I want to lose as much as I can before then! I'm curious to know how much other people have lost that had surgery dates close to me. Let me know! Hope everyone is well and happily sleeved!

Actually..... it was my mistake - the 3 week stall does happen at 3 weeks - and lasts for different lengths of time - I misinterpreted (msp?) your question. my goof kathy

19 Days Post No Loss Is 6

Search the site for 3 week stall. This is very common and just one of the stages your body goes through post surgery. Don't worry. Very normal.
  5. I had a 3 week stall before and I did it and a I left my comment under her boot camp thread It broke my stall as well. Is a great plan =) I am glad it worked for you as well
  6. 3 week stall......hanging in there....down 33lbs.....joining the gym tonight. Time to get into shape!

    Almost 70

I am so sorry to hear that you are having such a horrible stall. But I congratulate you on your positive outlook. It is so true that if weight loss is this hard WITH the sleeve I can't imagine what it would be like without it! No wonder I was never successful before. I can't imagine what you're going through. I was about to pull my hair out after a 3 week stall. They are so frustrating. To break mine I changed up what I was doing. I stuck to my Proteins and Water and changed the type of exercise I was doing. The weekend before my stall broke (I weigh in on mondays) I visited some friends and I had a "carb" day... meaning that I focused on proteins but I didn't worry about the ice cream scoop I had or the cookie I had. I needed the break mentally. My sleeve let me be normal without worrying about going crazy. The next day I was down 4. I definitely don't go carb crazy to lose the weight, it normally wouldn't work. It could've just been the mental sigh of relief over the weekend that caused it, I really don't know. No matter what, stalls are tough. Focus on all of those wonderful NSV's and your muscle tone and your body and relax knowing that your sleeve will take care of you. Also, your scale stinks lol! Leave it alone for awhile. ((hugs)) good luck!

    So Upset

Just like everyone above has said....it is the 3 week stall and most of us experienced it. I'm 4 months out and about every 2-3 weeks I have a stall but then it kicks back in again. YES, it is very discouraging but you will see that the weight will continue to come off. You might even experience some depression as I am working my way through right now. It's not only a physical change but a HUGE emotional change as well. So, hang in there!!! YOU WILL SUCCEED!

    Not Losing Weight

Do a search on the site for 3 week stall. It is quite common.
  10. I am so glad that I read this message. I am currently going thru the "3 week stall". I was so scared that I was doing something wrong! *Whew* what a relief! I lost 35lbs pre op. I had my surgery on 3/5/12. I have lost 15lbs post op, but hadn't lost any for the last 2 weeks.
  11. I was hoping the 3 week stall might bypass me, but no such luck! My weight has been going up and down the same .4 lbs for several days. Its very frustrating because I am only 5 lbs from "onederland" and I want to get there so desperately. Any tips on how to break the stall? I am down 16 lbs since surgery and 22 since pre-op diet. Please help before I pull out my already thinning hair! DD
  12. I love this!!!!! I had the same 3 week stall happen to me and it was soooo frustrating! Even though we are losing inches, there is something about that dang scale and its numbers that make it all the more real that the weight is coming off! I keep having to remind myself that I didnt gain it overnight and I am not going to lose it overnight! Keep rockin' that sleeve! You look wonderful!!!!

Any Long Island Ny Vsg Buddies?

Hey Dee I'm not in Long Island, but I'm close. I'm in Brooklyn, so only a train ride away! I'm sorry to hear that you are in a stall HOWEVER, you are what, 3 weeks out??? Guess what? That is the dreaded 3 week stall that pretty much EVERYONE goes through! It is just your body going on pause to sort through everything that is going on. You are doing great so far! As for the rash, I am definitely not a doctor, but is it around your incisions and the tape? I had a reaction to the tape. That wouldn't explain your back though. Just call your surgeon's office and ask. I had to do that for a few things and they are always very nice and understanding about everything. If you want to meet up one day, just pm me and maybe I can help some more in person ((hugs)) You are doing great, keep up the amazing work and don't worry about the stall!

    Stall

From what I have learned by all my research on this surgery there is a 3 week stall that hits the majority of the people. It will pass but may take a couple weeks. Your body is trying to regroup and this is its way of doing that.

February 9Th Sleevers...how Are You All Doing?

2/9 sleever here. I'm down 26.6 total (gotta count that 0.6!) and 22.6 since surgery. Feeling pretty good, but the scale didn't move last week (I weigh in on Thursdays since the surgery was on a Thursday). Hopefully things will change soon, but I didn't have the 3 week stall, so I guess at 6 weeks it was just running a little late! Thanks for starting a check in, glad you're doing well and losing like a champ!

    A Cup Of Soup? :(

You are COMPLETELY normal. You won't feel a lot of restriction (if any) with liquids. All the diet plans seem to vary from surgeon to surgeon. Just follow the "rules" given to you and see what happens. You are closing into the 3 week stall that almost EVERYONE has. You will get through this!

    Eating Is A Chore Now!

I am so glad I found this topic. I had surgery on 03/01 so I am 26 days out. I am basically at the stage where I can eat normal food if I chew very well and eat small bites. The problem is that I don't want to eat. Nothing sounds appealing. The only thing I am remotely interested in eating is a salad loaded with veggies and that is one of the only things I am still not supposed to have. I probably don't eat 400 calories a day, I haven't lost any weight in a week (yes I know 3 week stall and starvation mode etc), and my stomach stays full of gas despite gas-x strips and rinitidine for the reflux. Most days I start off feeling ok but by noon I am exhausted. I bought these bariatric Vitamins but they are too hard on my stomach so I am forcing myself to eat some of my kids gummy vitamins each day. My muscles are sore and crampy from my lack of potassium but I can't get the potassium pill down and my stomach refuses to hold a banana. I want to start Zumba but I get dizzy just standing up. I am getting about 30 - 35 oz of Fluid in a day on most days but others maybe only 10 oz. I don't regret my sleeve at all... I just want to figure out how to work it better...
  18. Broke my 3 week stall this morning with a 4.5 lb drop! YAY!

    Not Loosing Weight

Hi Butterfly! Don't despair! I had a 3 week stall that started around week 3 & lasted 3 wks. A week ago I saw my surgeon who had no suggestions since I was already doing what I was supposed to be doing. I felt so discouraged.....but the very next day I was down 2 lbs. Today 9 days later, I've lost 13 lbs!!! Making up for lost time I guess! I did up my caloric intake from 5-600 to now 7-800. It seems to have helped. Moral of the story: it will happen! You're doing a fantastic job so don't lose the faith....keep doing what you're doing & the weight WILL come off

    Wonderful Onederland Reached!

11 lbs is GREAT though!! I know it seems like a lot of people do at least one or two really large drops in the beginning, but you may be like me. I lost 2-3 lbs consistently from the very beginning. There have of course been a few stalls here and there, but that is normal. Also, did you stall at 3 weeks? Pretty much everyone does, but if you didn't this might just be what that was... at some point after surgery your body has to stop to readjust and that is the infamous 3 week stall. I know slow losing a the beginning is tough, because 2, 3 lbs here and there... 10 lbs overall, 15 pounds... when you are comparing it to the 100+ that most of us have to lose it seems insignificant... but I PROMISE that as it adds up and you look back, those 1 lb, 2 lbs drops will feel amazing! Also, supposedly if you lose slower supposedly you don't have as many skin issues as your skin has more time to keep up with your body. Not sure if this is true, but hey... maybe!
  23. Finally! After almost a 3 week stall it broke this morning and I am at 198.2!!!!! It is WONDERFUL in ONEderland!!! These 13-15 pounds that I have been dealing with for about 4-5 months (when I actually tipped 199) have drove me craaazy! I am here to tell everyone that the stalls DO break and as frustrating as it was DURING the stall, stepping on that scale and FINALLY seeing it MOVE is soooooo REFRESHING!!!!!!!!!!!! So everyone that is about 5 1/2 weeks out.... tie a knot at the end of your rope and hang in there, this too shall pass if you are in a stall!!!! ALWAYS KEEP ROCKIN' YOUR SLEEVE!!!! XOXOXOX! Amy
  24. I did too (from 5-600 to 7-800) & my 3 week stall ended & I've lost 12 lbs in a week!!!! Whooohoooo!! 8 weeks out Down 43 lbs post-op!! Congrats, let's keep it moving in the right direction!

    Not Loosing Weight!

You've lost 12 pounds and you consider that not losing weight? That's 12 pounds in 3 weeks! I looked at your profile and it said you're 5'3". You're generally not going to lose as quickly as, say, someone who is 5'10". I'm 5'7" and I lost about 18 pounds the first 3 weeks. I actually lost 25 the first two weeks, but that's because I wasn't keeping ANYTHING down, even water. I was basically bulimic those two weeks and had actually regained 7-8 pounds after that because I was re-hospitalized and was getting actual nutrition for the first time since surgery from the IV. I think you're doing great. As many people on here will say, you didn't get heavy overnight, and it's not going to come off overnight. Just keep doing what you're doing and don't give up! Like I said, 12 pounds in 3 weeks is awesome! When else were you able to lose 4 pounds a week? You also have to realize that you are probably going through the inevitable 3 week stall. Most everyone on here has gone through it. Basically after two weeks your body adjusts and needs to level itself out. It'll pass, I promise!
