I Want My Stomach Back For A Day!
MegInNOLA replied to Cherrybomb's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I COMPLETELY get you! I had the same feelings, too. I still do on rare occasions. It is maddening to feel like you've spent so much money and invested so much energy and had your stomach REMOVED from your body and now all you want is to feel "normal" and be able to do the things that you used to do. And there isn't a normal any more, and you can't do them. I think a lot of us go through this at some point--and it doesn't help that you are actually right around the time of the infamous 3-week stall (just do a forum search and you'll see what I'm talking about). Your body is flipping OUT right about now, getting ready to ditch a BUNCH of weight, but all that fat burning is also releasing all kinds of hormones, which, on top of the frustration of having to relearn how to eat, makes for some craziness. It's temporary, I promise. Just hang in there. What got me past the anger was the realization that yeah, if I was feeling so frustrated at not being able to eat a normal portion, I NEEDED my sleeve to control things for me. I NEEDED that permanent fix. It wasn't something I was ever going to be able to control on my own. I was really mad at myself for having to go through with a surgical fix for my weight issue. Once I realized it was a "done deal," though, I realized I had no other choice but to learn how to manage it, move past the feelings of frustration and anger, and get on with making my "new normal." If you really liked the "old normal," you wouldn't have had the surgery, right? I made a list and contributed to a post or two on this forum regarding reasons I had the sleeve, aka things I was looking forward to. I can truthfully say that I have had all of them--all of them--come true!!! Maybe posting your own list of things you're looking forward to would help you re-focus off the current problems and onto the reasons you did the surgery? Meanwhile, hugs and hang in there. You're at one of the most difficult points in the process--that stupid stall makes people think they went through all the pain and expense for nothing, when it's actually just your body getting used to everything. -
215 - 1lb down from last week... Is there a 3month stall on top of the 3 week stall?

3 Weeks And Now A Stall! Help Please
Lissa replied to shrinkinmama's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Search for 3 week stall. EVERYONE goes through this stall. It's part of the healing process. Keep following your doctor's plan and it will be over soon. -
Kim, you may have reached the infamous 3 week stall. A lot of folks have experienced it. Take a deep breath and trust your scale will move soon. In the mean time, evaluate your progress so far: Are you getting in all your liquids? Are you getting the right amount of protein (60-80 grams depending on what your doctor recommends)? Are you eating enough? Sometimes you body may go into "starvation mode," especially if you are under 800 calories. Hope this helps! Hang in there. Stalls are a normal part of the process - I know that doesn't make it any less frustrating!!

Never fear. You've hit whats commonly known as the "3 week stall". During this week to two week period, you will see very little to no weightloss but you'll start seeing INCHES come off you. There are numerous posts on here about the three week stall you can search and read on. Just have to wait it out and keep doing what the doctor told you. I lost two pant sizes during my 3 week stall. So keep an eye on the inches!

Post Op Day 4- Hungry And Depressed
billemtp2003 replied to MamaT's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Mamma t The first two weeks are the toughest. I was sleeved on 3/30/12 the first week is sugar free clears. So you have minimal calories once I started drinking the protein drinks I had a big increase in energy. The headache is from dehydration most likely. If you had a lot of caffeine before surgery could be withdrawal. Please don't question your decision. I was going through my phone last night and found a picture from January showed it to some one did not realize it was me. I have lost 40 lb since prepping I am past my 3 week stall and down from a 2 xl to xl and they are big. I feel great. Just keep up the fluids. You are doing great. -

I'm still down for trying it out and omg, LOVE raw oysters. Lol. I eat 6 small meals a day so I'm cool. Just in my 3 week stall at the moment and trying to break it -
Hello everyone, I was sleeved on 2/4/12 lost 22 pounds so far. the first couple of weeks after surgery I was losing a pound or two every day but once I hit 3 weeks I stalled out at 243 pounds and been stuck there ever since. Is this normal? Monday will be 4 weeks. I haven't been over eating or anything like that I have been sticking to my diet plan. I feel very frustrated that the weight loss seems to have stopped. Any help or suggestions will be welcome
-
Ah the dreaded 3 week stall. Dont worry - almost everyone here has gone through this. Keep doing everything you are supposed to. The stall will break pretty soon and your scale will move

You're at the infamous 3-week stall. Just keep doing what you're doing (and personally, I think you're doing great to be getting in as much as you are!). The 3-week stall hits almost all of us. That feeling that seems like hunger may well be excess acid--are you on a PPI or other antacid medication? A lot of folks need that after surgery. If it's true hunger, then yeah, eat something on your "approved foods" list, focusing on getting your Water and Protein in first. Every person is different, and we all respond differently to stuff. Hang in there--that stall is going to break, and you're on your way!!

Help Not Loosing Anymore
crazycravings replied to patkaye's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I went thru the 3 week stall and now I'm in a 5 week stall......it is frustrating but I try and remember that before the sleeve I was in a lifetime stall........ I was sleeved on march 21 and weighed 258 on surgery day and am only down 238. Some people say well u coulda saved all that money and done that on your own but I couldn't of because I was a food addict. Idk I am upset but all I can do is try harder. -
Help Not Loosing Anymore
MegInNOLA replied to patkaye's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You know you're a sleever when you hit the 2- to 3-week stall! Most of us have experienced it, and it definitely causes a ton of posts just like yours. :-) Search for "2-week stall" or "3-week stall" and you'll find a lot of folks who have been through this and come out the other side just fine (including yours truly). Just keep following your plan and getting in your water as best you can. This, too, shall pass!! -
Let The Games Begin
Ms skinniness replied to aviiva's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yep.... This is totally normal. This is probably your 3 week stall period where you will be adjusting in inches instead of lbs loss. I myself prefer to lose inches over lbs. The 1 lb gain could be water weight also. Drink lots of water to stay hydrated. Keep up the good work! You have done an excellent job. -

Bummed - 67 Pounds Lost And I Look Just The Same
Lissa replied to Cherrybomb's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Cherrybomb, You posted that you wouldnt put your pre-op weight out there for anyone to see. I will. I weight 352 at my absolute highest and I'm knocking on 100 pounds lost. I didn't really drop sizes for a long time. I was in my 3 week stall when I lost my first size, and then it seemed to take months before I lost another size. A few days ago I went to the store to buy workout clothes because mine were embarassingly large, so large in fact that I inadvertently flashed an old man my boobs at the gym the other day! I figured I needed an 18, but bought 16s because they were stretchy workout clothes and I don't want to flash anyone again. The 16s not only fit, they fit well!!! I am going to buy jeans this weekend and I know I'll be trying on everything in sight, just to get a better idea of what fits. The sizes will drop soon and you'll be amazed at how fast it happens. Lil Miss Diva told me that months ago and I thought she was nuts, but now I know that it happens and it happens so fast our brains cannot keep up. I still see the bigger me in the mirror, but that's not the gal that shows up in pictures these days. I remember thinking "That girl has a waist" when I was looking at my own picture about a month ago. Well, THIS girl has a waist and I have to keep reminding myself of that!! -
3 week stall and that's ok because I feel my body changing! And I'm in a 16 fom a 20/22!!!

Today, I am 3 weeks out from band to sleeve revision. My 3 week stall started at two weeks out, and I haven't moved since. I am a lightweight (didn't wait to gain all my band weight back when that went down the crapper) and only have another 20-30 lbs to goal. How long did your 3 week stall last? I wonder if I'm done losing already? If I am, so be it, my most pressing need was to make sure that I didn't keep gaining. Also, for reference, I'm eating mostly mushy foods, just starting to work in some actual meat. Yesterday I had turkey lunchmeat for the first time, today I had shredded chicken for the first time. Otherwise I'm doing yogurts, cottage cheese, string cheese, tuna salad, that type of thing. I generally get in my 60-64 oz of Water, and am usually in the 55 -60 g of Protein a day, without using any Protein shakes. Thoughts? How did other lightweights fare?

2Weeks Out And Stalled?
MegInNOLA replied to emelia.larock's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Ah, the infamous and almost universally experienced (and hated!) 2- to 3-week stall! Y'all should feel like part of the club for sure now! :-) Seriously, stalls reek, but they do occasionally happen along. No panic, no worries--just keep doing what you're supposed to do, and the weight loss will pick right back up again. Congratulations to all of you on joining the losers' bench! -
Not Loosing/ Or High Expectations
Jack Fabulous replied to realwmnhavcurvs's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I think you are doing just fine. My dr told me that I should expect to lose 1 or 2 pounds per week. I said WHAT!!?? My initial weight loss was dramatic, but then I went on a 3 week stall where I gained 2 lbs. I'm back to losing again. I don't think you will see the dramatic weight loss others have seen because you don't have as much to lose. But keep in mind that if you follow the program, you will continue to lose weight for 12 - 18 months. -
I am so sorry that all of this has happened to you! I really am praying for your speedy recovery. I do know that I was very tired for a long time after the surgery...about 2 months. I now am 8 months out as of tomarrow, and I can say that my energy level is threw the roof....way better than before. As for the weight loss, I only lost 18 pounds the first month, and then the second month only 4 pounds do to the 3 week stall that lasted about 2 weeks. Since then I have lost about 8 to 12 pounds a month, depending on how much I exercise and how well I stick to my eating protein and avoiding carbs. As for the blood clots, you definatly have an angel out there watching over you! Once you have lost more weight this problem of getting blood clots should go away, since being overweight increases your chances of blood clots. I will be praying for you! Best wishes and ((HUGS)) your way! I can tell you once this situation has passed you will be so happy that you did this to improve your health in the long run! again ((HUGS))

So I am 4 weeks post op, and have lost a total of 25.6lbs since the beginning of my journey. Believe me, I am happy with weight lose so far and thought that things were going great, and then I hit the dreaded 3 week stall. I had 6 weeks off, but I only took 4 (going a little stir crazy in the house). Went back to work on Monday (I have a desk job), so far so good, a little tired today but glad to be back at work. I have increased my calories and making sure I am getting in 70g of protein. Hoping that now I am back at work & back into my daily routine that I will break through this stall.
