I am so glad you asked about not having a BM since before surgery!!! I havent either so am curious about others. Even though we have had only liquids, I would think that we should still be having liquid BM's. Sorry, i know that is TMI!!! -
Hey everyone! I see there are some great victories being posted, I am officially 50lbs down from my highest weight!! so I wanted to share with everyone too! Congrats to everyone on their personal victories as well. How is everyone doing? I am still in soft foods, but loving this stage, I am getting in a lot more protein, but need to figure out how to get space for the carbs? I did start coffee again, many of you already know my TMI issues and to be honest halfway through the cup of coffee I was in the bathroom and it was glorious, so small cup is what I am drinking and add in an extra glass of water to compensate for dehydration effects... miralax stopped working, I see my Dr next week and hopefully we can brainstorm a bit together. I am also hoping to get cleared to do a bit more activity... next week. I could stay in the stage forever lol. hope you are all doing well!

Hey sis ...one u share ur new bday with my daughter!!! Congrats. My hospital stay was five days also and ran into complications. I wanted to tell u I'm five years out and night before last I had made beets and spinach noodles and my stomach talked from 9pm until 3pm the next day. I woukdnt call what I had diarrhea bc it was more like pure Water. It was so bad I actually recorded it from my cell phone and let my bf listen to it. Mine wasn't painful but (this gonna be tmi) I knew if I passed gas I'd use the bathroom so everytime I had to do that I had to hop out of bed run to the bathroom and do it and I believe I couldve made the guiness books for those ..wow. I took immodium and pepto all night and then it quit. I figured what's causing it and I'm on a prednisone pack right now for a severe sinus infection. I'm sure with ur pneumonia ur on antibiotics and that is where all this gas and diarrhea is coming from I'm willing to bet on it. There's nothing u can do bc u need that to get rid of the pneumonia.. just hang in there and msg me if u need too. Lots of love

Intermittent Fasting Daily Menu/Results/Accountability
GreenTealael replied to FluffyChix's topic in Post-op Diets and Questions
I have done a modified version from the start (~2 oz of pp in coffee 1x daily-breakfast) It helped ease me into the lifestyle and I was able to do it for 5 days straight my first go Ive also done purer fasts wet and dry. What I noticed was the dryer the fast (consumption of no calories or liquids) the faster hunger dissipated and the quicker I lost weight (so I reserve these for religious & medical reasons) These days I have given up coffee entirely 😭, but my tea has a little cream in it. I did IF by accident yesterday and ended up losing 2lbs overnight (likely from water weight but TMI: im in the luteal phase of my cycle where I traditional gain lbs) HAPPY FASTING EVERYONE -

I Can't Wait To Not Have To...
KristiP replied to BrickHouse's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
TMI WARNING!!: Yeah I haven't seen my hooey (borrowed that nickname from Scrubs ) without mirror assistance for a loooong time. hope to lose a lt of fat from that area - sorry, but honestly, when I'm just in underwear and looking in the mirror it looks like I've got a Cornish game hen in my underpants! It's embarrassing to look like I've got more junk than my husband! I wear "shape wear" to flatten it out, and any other areas that benefit are just bonus. I mean you know you've got a problem when you have a camel toe while wearing a skirt! (ok, just exaggerating on that one but still......) I hate probably 98% of my body - abdominal rolls, side rolls, back rolls, neck rolls, gigantic double chin, sagging belly apron, huge arms, back boobs, under arm boobs, fat and flabby thighs, huge calves....the list is almost endless, but my, uh.....well, my crotch is my biggest issue, the part of me I hate the most. I refuse to go to the gyno simply because of it. I'm too mortified, and I don't care what anyone says about how they see it all. See my surgeon on Monday to discuss my surgery on 7 Jan. Woohoo! Can't wait to get my stomach 85% removed! -
Had Surgery on September 8th 2015
tblovingme replied to lmag's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hello, I had surgery in September 10th. So far so good. Getting all my Water requirements in with no issues. I have been fortunate to not even experience any nausea and vomiting. Other than some soreness in my incision sites, I am pleased with my recovery. I am still taking it very slowly t make sure I am giving my body time to heal and get 100%. Only issue is being able to pass as much gas as I would like to but its coming (TMI) I know once that is gone I will feel much much better. So far I am happy with my decision and my Surgeon is the best. I hope everyone else is having as much success. Good Luck!! -
Hi y'all well well. sitting by computer since sitting is the most comfy position. All went well thank god and I'm soo happy to be home! got banded at ab. 10 am.. was up ab. 11:15 and I just remember in recovery waking up.. coughing.. still had tube down my throat.. :girl_hug:. so they took out right away. and all i said was "paiinnn" "paiinnnn" they asked me how much 1-10 i told them a 6 1/2.. got some morphine.. a little while later i said "paiinnn" so they gave me some more.. lol.. at 12:30 i was up in my room already! Got up right away to go to bathroom and put on my pj's.. adn then I slept till around 2 ish.. (funny side note. my sis was banded 2 weeks ago.. when i was telling her my "paaainnn" story in recovery she BURST out laffing. she said that were the first words out of her mouth.. "paiinnn" painnn".. lol - i guess when we're tired we conserve our energy for the impt. stuff) walked around again w/ my hubby... and had this EXCRUCIATING pain on my right side, next to inscision area.. like a 1inch by 1 inch area taht was burning and stabbing me to my back.. coudln't stand straight. Otherwise everywhere else felt find. Thankfully I really did not have any gas pains.. I've had it from previous surgeries so I am soooo thankful that I didn't have that. So back to this pain. I didn't know what hit me. had a massive anxiety attack. (lovely) husband called nurse and they couldn't figure out why i was having pain in that spot. no'g there. It hurt when the fabric of my t-shirt was rubbing against it!! They gave me Toradol IV.. and that dulled it.. I was able to sleep some About 1-2 hours later Dr. Ren came and said I had some swelling on my right side of muscle when she did surgery.. ( I did have pain on myright side from a rib that kept on going out of place.. went to chiropracter twice and then figured what the heck.not gonna keep on going once a week to snap back into place. so lived with the discomfort and mild pain)so it seems she cut through some nerves there. and the pain that im' having is nerve endings that were cut. and that pain / discomfort will be there for a few weeks (GEE THANKS! :faint:).. Other than that and feeling like I had a truck run over my stomach.. which is bearable. i'm really doing well. i'm sorta hungry. but more in my head.. cuz i can't really drink much.. get full and a little nauseous and start burping :whoo: lol.. life is soo much fun the nerve pain kills when I walk.. it hurts to lay on couch.. but sitting in a chair is ok. problem is my butt KILLS already..:heh: from all the sitting. Vicodan does NOT work for me. never has.. and advil that i took ab. 2 hours after 2 vicodan also hasn't worked. called dr. and nothing can do. cuz can't call in a narcotic to pharmacy.. so i'll have to wait until tommorow. great. there goes another night of sleep. helllo late night TV once again! i wandered the hospital all night. Met some great pple who had the surgery too and it was therapeutic for all of us to talk and share experiences. still constipated but PETRIFIED to push.. lol. sorry for TMI... have aches under breasts. probably the little gas I have.. and incision sites are ok. a little painful.. i'm coughing up stuff. but taht is probably from tube. which is why my throat is killing me too... nervous ab. the cough but I put a pillow on my stomach. cuz i don't want incisions to bleed/pop.. (sis had that by gall bladder surgery and ended up in hospital all infected) all in all this is something I would do again if the results happen. which their is no reason it shouldn't!! I hope all of you are doing ok!! MissNilsa.. how u feeling? any better than this morning???? Did u get some sleep?? will keep u posted! Pemy

Fabulous February Post-Op's
Cecilia replied to ArmyWife&Mom's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Uuuuuhhhhnnnggg!!! I would congratulate you all on your amazing successes, except I'm too busy running to the bathroom every 10 minutes. WARNING: TMI & GROSS CONTENT FOLLOWS. PROCEED AT YOUR OWN RISK. Here's the story: I traveled to a nearby city to take a 4-day class. I'm staying with my brother and his wife. I'm off my daily routine. Skipping breakfast, packing my oatmeal but not making it, that sort of thing. At the conference they have coffee and cookies and rolls, so I nibble on a tiny piece of a roll while drinking coffee. Then sampling a little bit of a cookie. Eating whatever my SIL makes for dinner, then taking it the next day for lunch. Having no gastric distress, the second day I get bold. I get a whole cup of coffee and two cookies. A chocolate chip and a humongous shortbread cookie dipped in chocolate so greasy it would make pizza look low-fat. This was a huge mistake. Mind you--no dumping or vomiting has happened, so I think I'm safe so far. Only after dinner (spaghetti, fresh salad, greasy garlic bread -- I don't want to put my hosts out, so I eat what they're eating) I hear my stomach grumble, and the fun begins. My stools get looser and looser. I'm up all night running to the bathroom, and when I'm sleeping, I'm dreaming of my intestines (true!). This morning I actually saw a greasy oil slick in the toilet after evacuating what feels like the last little bit of what's left in me. Lesson learned. I can't just "wing it." I can't eat cookies. I can't tolerate greasy foods. And you know what? Other than the chocolate chip cookie (which was amazing) and the salad (I miss crispy vegetables!), nothing really was that good or so delicious that I'd be interested in eating it again. It really just wasn't worth it. -

September bypass buddies??
SueSaBelle replied to MissPoodle's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
Thank you everyone for the prayers. My bypass went very well and Dr. Taylor also fixed the hernia that I didn't know I had. I also have 6 incision sites that are in a circle. The left ones are the ones that give me constant pain if I move to suddenly or twist. Of course my body decided to start my period the day before surgery which was a major pain, especially when I received blood thinner shots in my belly. The staff took it all in stride and were wonderful. I am home and only taking liquid Tylenol for the pain. I was on morphine through the iv and then on liquid Vicodin which helped for the car ride home. I am getting in my water and most of my protein (shakes, oikos Greek yogurt, sugar free jello, broth). One of the things I noticed immediately in the hospital was everything was too sweet, even the sugar free popsicles. I had lots of broth and forced myself to have some of the jello but I mostly had lots of ice chips. I am finally able to sleep on my sides. I also use a wedge pillow in bed to help prop me up. This was wonderful to be able to sleep 4 hours without being interrupted! Walking does help immensely! I took my house shoes which are actually a pair of Crocs and I was able to walk farther because of the extra cushion from the Crocs. This helped a lot since the gas kept settling in my right shoulder and chest. TMI - The only thing I am concerned about is having my first bowel movement. I have been burping and passing gas but just haven't had to go #2. That kind of makes sense since I haven't really eaten anything that wasn't a liquid so how can you poop if you are peeing everything out? I also had a moment of questioning about surgery. I thought how could I be so selfish to have this elective surgery and inconvenience my family. Thankfully I reminded myself that this was for me and eventually my family will reap the benefits. My hubby was wonderful throughout the whole process. He was so worried that he left his slippers on when we drove to the hospital on Wednesday morning. I am truly blessed to have him in my life. Through 6 years of marriage he has stood by me and encouraged me. He combats that inner destructive voice in my head and makes me laugh. Feel free to ask me any questions about my experience with bypass. -
Converting from Sleeve to Bypass?
Band07 replied to snowkitten's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
I will be four months out on the 23rd. I had a rough start not because of the surgery itself but because I got pneumonia and became serverly dehydrated was basically miserable the first month. That being said, I've lost 30 lbs (which puts me 10lbs from my goal) It's slow but that's expected. I can eat anything/everything and my portion size is really much larger than it should be for someone who has had 3 surgeries! But it's the mgb that keeps me losing. Nothing and I mean NOTHING I eat stays with me too long. I'm in the bathroom A LOT! sometimes as many as 8-10x a day. It's worse when I make bad food choices but really with a 9' bypass even good foods pass through pretty quickly. I've asked others and not everyone expereinces this and it's not really dumping (though I have had that too) because I don't get sick with it or sweat or stomach cramps at least not often. Hope this isn't TMI but it's worth knowing I think because I wasn't prepared for it to be like this! I will try to answer any specific questions you have... Who is doing you surgery? -
This thread is going to be sooo inappropriate!

Blech... Do you suppose they rinse off the tongs before putting them back in the kitchen drawer? Immediate POST OP Hygeine question (possible TMI) And here, the poor doc is trying to warn her but does she listen? so, please be honest with me about this -
Hey guys, I just started me Pre Op diet today and while at work I was so dizzy and shaky I couldn't focus at all. I work with Diabetes patients and thier Insulin Pump Therapy devices, not being focused is not an option for others as well as myself... So I called my Short Term disability people and asked to move my start date to today and then 2 weeks after surgery ( nov 28th is surgery) ... she said it was fine as long as the MD was ok with it... I email the MD and will see what he says. I explained it all to him and hopefully he will put in my records that its up to me what I can handle. has anyone does this before? just curious if your md agreed to it. i dont see how it would hurt him.. plus I will be more successful at home concentrating on changing my life before the surgery and to get my family in order. not to mention the diarreah that comes with drinking only liquids...TMI i know but its real life stuff here...:-)

Dumping comes from the other end! And for those of you experiencing the horrible constipation I def recommend getting your fiber in every day. I was not going to share but two weeks ago I had to go to the ER because I could not pass my BM and had to do a manual kinda thing. I felt like dying due to embarrassment but I'm not going to lie it was like having an elephant off my chest. I learned my lesson and decided on a probiotic and or activia yogurt! Ok that was my lil TMI

I am on day 2 of a 9 day liquid diet... And although I am hungry when it comes time for Snacks and b l d I am doing pretty dang good. I lost 2 lbs over night and I feel OK. Slight headache and head hunger but I have been to a grocery store and even though my mouth waters I am not tempted. I think my head is in it for the big picture... My surgeon told me he didn't think I was ready because I had gained a couple lbs within the 12 days I had seen him last... I had to drive 2 hours away and my ankles were hugely swollen and I have been constipated (sorry tmi) for a few days.. He didn't believe me... Of course. The nut said she believed me and just to really stick to this pre op diet like no other and prove him wrong. Now the sad thing is, is that I spent over a hundres dollars on 2 weeks worth of Optifast at their place and I tried 3 different things and felt completely nauseous.. So I switched back to my Protein rtd's added skim milk to get calories, got cream of chicken Soup and portion out the right amount, sugar free pudding, sugar free Jello and some flavored Water... I am staying exactly at calories and drinking as much water as I can. Sorry for the long post. Hoping I don't regret saying I feel good lol I am hoping that they will give me a refund on what I haven't opened cuz that's a lot of money...

I love it, I got 3 awesome NSV's this past week: 1.) I went home to Vegas to visit family and my brother and his wife (who don't know I'm banded) both said I look awesome and like I've lost a lot of weight immediately when they saw me... and I believe they meant it because they kept mentioning it. 2.) My size 50 belt that I usually wear doesn't fit anymore. I had to punch a new hole into the belt for it to fit. 3.) I got home from my trip and my wife said '(I) looked so hot when (I) walked through the door' and then raped me...twice...wait that's probably TMI.

Did you cheat on pre-op liquid diet
avanderhoof replied to crystalcml's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I too will be banded on Wednesday! I was on a 14 day Optifast diet, but it made me horrible ill. I lasted 4 days on it and then I had the worst diarreha of my life (TMI...sorry) anyhow, the doctor then moved me to clear liquid for 2 days, then to low fat, low carb for 2 days, and then back to clear liquid the last 5 days. I am DYING! I'm not sure who can survive on chicken stock, popsicles, fat free sugar free pudding, and water but it is not this fat chick. I can't wait for this to be over. I never figured I would say this, but I can't wait to eat over cooked broccoli and oatmeal. I have cheated a bit by eating 3 pieces of pepperoni off my kids' pizza and 3 cheetos in the last 2 days but overall I think I will be fine....I hope! -

Hi all. Guess I will post my before pics too. Nina, no offense here for sure. As for the 1 inch per 30 pounds, not sure about that particular ratio, but if its not TMI, I can sure tell the difference and am quite happy about it
