    Everything Sucks.

Like said above, stick to your plan. You can do this! You have your tool, time to work it. It WILL work. Have no doubt. It took me just shy of 12 months to lose my weight. I had many 2-3 week stalls. But that was my body adjusting. After the first couple broke, I learned to accept them. You will too. It's part of the process. It takes time for our minds/habits/tastes to change. Our capacity changed in the OR. The others will catch up. Patience. You can do it :-)
  2. Hi. So my pre op weight was 198. I had surgery April 4th. My doctors goal for me is to lose 70 pounds total. My weight is stuck at 162. I know I haven't been exercising enough. I fractured my foot. I also don't think I'm getting enough calories in. Will the scale start moving again? I'm scared I'm done losing at 3 months. Any words of wisdom out there? Especially since I have a broken foot.
  3. You're in the "3 week stall", just a smidge late No worries, it will break in a week or two. Get out of the habit of only eating when you're hungry. That could be until Christmas. Try to get on a schedule of 5-6 small meals a day. You need to keep your blood sugar levels (I.E. Strength) up. Liquid protein sources are the easiest this early out. Protein shakes, milk, yogurt, kefir, cottage cheese, eggs, refried beans...

    Help! Not losing weight

Normal. I did 20 days straight on less than 800 calories a day with no weight loss. 3 week stall is a real thing. Your body is adjusting. Stay the course. Keep following the plan you were given and be patient. If you follow the rules you will loose. I have seen this over and over. No worries. Sent from my SM-N920V using the BariatricPal App

    Calories?

I'm at somewhat of a 3 week stall as well...but I'm down 28 pounds in those three weeks and my pants are falling off...so what the hey! I'm averaging 600 calories and 65 protein a day, so I guess I'm doing all I can do. Merry Christmas everyone! And a skinny New Year.

3 week stall is typical - Stay on you plan it will break and back to losing
  7. Well let me tell you, they had me up 17 pounds after surgery! It took me a week and a day to get back to surgery weight. It was pretty easy with only taking in fluids and walking every two hours while I was awake. I was at 3 weeks post yesterday and I am down 17 pounds from morning of surgery. So, 34 pounds lost since surgery. The weight comes off! Now in the dreaded (I didn't believe it) 3 week stall!
  8. Monthly. Otherwise I get scale obsessed and it makes me crazy. The good thing is I probably missed my 3 week stall because I only weigh once a month. Instead I try to focus on eating well and exercising daily.

    Stalls - no complaints

I had a 3 week stall a while back. I decided to go back to basics. I started eating just protein again and it seemed to work. Good luck to you!!!
  10. I am another victim of the dreaded 3 week stall. I was just given the OK to start the pureed/super-soft diet, Now 4 days later the scale hasn't moved at all. I am putting the scale away and now plan on weighing in once a week from here on out. I also got my clearance to restart my exercise program (walking, resistance training, and kettle bells). I am going to start these today. I would never have known about the "3rd week stall" and I would have thought I was doing something wrong if it wasn't for the great information I've gotten from this site.

    ONEDERLAND

I hit a 3 week stall. I had started exercising like a mad woman. I wanted so much to break 200 pounds for the first time in years. I was walking 2-4 miles a day plus a 30 min walk on my lunch at work. Nothing. I went to see my doctor for my 3 month check up. I complained about the 3 week stall. My dietitian looked at my exercise and food journal. I was worried maybe I was getting too many carbs. She smiled as I complained bitterly about the 3 week stall. "Well, Stalls do happen. We have to be patient with them- but I can tell you something that I have noticed." I braced myself for her to tell me to stop putting creamer in my tea of the mornings. "You have probably never heard this before in your life- but you aren't getting enough calories." She laughed at my stunned look. She went on to tell me 3 months into the surgery she wanted me to be shooting for 1000-1200 calories a day. On my big eating days I was gettin 600. She said with the amount of exercise I had been getting I was sending my body into starvation mode- and it was just getting used to surviving on so few calories. Humm. I didn't walk yesterday. Mom and I ate at a steakhouse. I had 3 bites of salad, 2 bites of steak and 3 bites of potato. No bread- I don't have room in my belly for that. Later that day I even had dessert. Now I know when Marsha told me to get more calories she didn't mean sweets. Don't hate on me. It was a special occasion and I had 5 bites. 5 very small bites. I got on the scales this morning and I was 200.0. No Way! There was no way I was going to go about my day being 1 small ounce away from onederland. So, I took off my socks- swapped my chucky glasses for contacts and blew my nose. 199.6 I was so excited i threw a robe on and ran downstairs to get my camera. I hopped back on the scale camera in hand waiting to snap shot the moment I hit onderland. 201.3 Oh how I moped. I brushed my hair and grumbled. Then it hit me- I weighed myself with my camera in my hand. I tried it again this time had the camrea ready- but sitting on the sink. ONEDERLAND. I am excited. very excited. I have saved fireworks for just this occasion. It has been bitter cold these days but I am thrilled I will get to set them off before we are covered up in snow. wooooohoooooo

    3 Week Stall

What is this 3 week stall I've been reading other's posts about? How long does it last? I'm going into week 3 and just wanna know what to expect
  13. you have to eat to lose weight! If you undereat, your body will hold onto the fat, you are starving it, and it wont let it go! I upped my calories after a 3 week stall, and dropped 3 LBS that week! I'm averaging between 1,100 and 1,300 every day and am losing 1.2-3 lbs per week. Eat your protein, drink your water, exercize at least 3-4 times per week, you will lose! It's all math.
  14. It seems like (although i have only been here a few months) that there is a lot of early stalls. Like before the typical "3 week stall" So any opinions on why we are not losing weight initially? I mean if we are tracking everything, eating right and exercising and all looks good why are some of us having weeks of no weight loss. Worse off some of us have stopped so early on we feel like we are waiting for the surgery weight loss to start. I know I had surgery August 2nd and lost a total of 13 pounds the first week. then nothing since the 9th of august. I feel like ...ok so when will the weight loss start. I have lost 13 pounds in a month..many times over...i eat high protein, low carb, tons of water and exercise..my nut says..keep on going..yet...we wait for it to start again..or start at all. I know it's frustrating but anyone see this over time..periods when people just don't loose weight initially at all, then long stalls then ...what? does it eventually kick in? go fast? drop slowly...? any opinions on this?

    Bouncing between 208-211

It's Water weight, and you are at the inevitable 3 week stall. In the search box up top on the forum page type in STALL, and see how many other 1000s of posts state the same thing. It is not fat, you aren't really gaining weight. It's just water weight. Even at 22 months, after maintaining for a year guess what I BOUNCE on the scale up and down on any given a whole whopping 5lbs, do you really think it's possible for me to gain 5lbs of fat on 1500-1800 calories a day. It's not at all, nor is it physically possible. Keep the scale hidden, increase your water intake, and let your body recover.

My Life At 2 Years Out

The honeymoon phase is the first 3 to 6 months after surgery where people by and large experience the fastest part of their weight loss. The first month tends to be fairly good weight loss and then there is the transition from liquids to mushies (most have the 3 week stall when they transition to food because your body is adjusting to the change), but the it usually picks back up because at that point you should be able to incorporate some form of exercise into your routine to help facilitate your weight loss. But basically, its' the first 3 to 6 months after surgery. I hope that helps.

    Mirena affecting weight loss?

I have a mirena and it has not effected my weight loss at all..... I don't believe the mirena will affect you, it's just the normal losing cycle we've all gone through..... You will have the 3 week stall and during that time, you will be losing inches.... CONGRATS! Sit back and enjoy your ride now.

    Weight loss stalls

The '3 week stall' happens to many! You will get out of it as long as you follow your plan. I'm gonna paste a great reply made by @SpartanMaker in a different post that explains why you may be stalling!

    One month out today

Congrats on the loss. Men tend to always lose faster than the women. I dreaded that 3 week stall and I seemed to be at it for 2 weeks. I lost 25 the first 2 weeks then stalled for the next 10 days. But I noticed during that stall that I was still sliming down. I was losing inches for sure. I am down 32lbs in 40 days since my surgery. Also congrats on your exercise and biking that much. Keep going! Yesterday I went shopping and bought my first pair of smaller jeans. I even bought them a little bit snug cause I know in a couple weeks they will be looser!!! Thats a nice feeling. Also this morning my youngest son came to give me a hug goodbye as I left for work. He turned around and said.. HOLY mom you are getting thinner! I see it! WOW! did that feel good! I phoned my hubby and told him that whatever my son wanted this weekend he could have... he just went number one in my books Keep going and all the best to you Russ!

    2 weeks post op

DId you lose some on your pre op diet? They say there is a 3 week stall. I bet you will lose a few in a few days. Your body probably just needs some time to adjust. Hang in there!

    Stalled Already!

I'm not trying to be a butthead, but these types of responses are so discouraging. I also posted about a 3 week stall and got a similar response and it sucked to hear that. I don't have a huge support system and this forum is the best that I have for now. Please be mindful of what you're posting to new people/people who just had surgery.

    3 weeks out...struggling!

My 3-week stall lasted for 2 weeks. I didn't gain anything, but I didn't lose either. I just fluctuated 1-2 pounds either way. I was really challenged with getting Protein in too until I found Ensure High Protein shakes. I chill the milk chocolate flavor and it tastes like a chocolate malt, not gritty and no bad aftertaste. Best of all, each bottle has 25g protein, only 5g sugar and 210 calories as well as a lot of Vitamins and minerals. They also come in vanilla, dark chocolate and strawberry but I haven't tried those so I can't tell you how they taste. The only drawback is they are a bit pricey at $9.99/4-pack, but considering that per bottle it is only one-third the price of the Big Mac value meals I used to buy, it is ok with me. I also like that I can grab it and go, no messing with a blender, multiple ingredients and all of that. Water was really hard to get down and is still my least favorite beverage, so I mix Crystal Light with it or choose light juices or diet sodas (flattened until about 6-8 weeks post-op). Good luck!
