  1. I seem to have hit another stall already--I keep waiting for my loss to hit 50 pounds but it just isn't getting there. I have lost a bit of the grip on what I'm eating and whether I'm getting enough protein and so on--a lot of changes lately. I moved about a week ago and then lost my niece (age 43) to a heroin overdose. So, kind of traumatic times. I don't think I'm going to be able to get to the funeral. Like so many things, nothing I can do about that.

Still, shopped yesterday and have some protein shakes, much as I dislike them, to help me get back in control. Made a birthday cake for the friend with whom I'm staying, but that's gone now and I've bought some sugar-free fudgesicles for my "sweet."

I'm a bit frustrated by the fact that I don't really notice a change in my body and I'm still wearing all the same clothes. How much do I have to lose before the clothes are too big? Sheesh. And then I have to stop a moment and realize it's only been six weeks since the surgery--this is a long journey, not a sprint.

    So, onward.

I think we all go through these down moments after surgery and especially during a stall. Just don't let this lead to self sabotage, find the positive side in everything you have accomplished thus far and believe in yourself. Imagine yourself as you want to be 6 months to a year from now. Keep that image in your mind and push out the negative thoughts. Don't let past habits back in. Yesterday's mistakes are already in the past and today is a new day.

      You can do this!!!

      I'm Praying for you today.

Thank you--I'm working to get back on track. It's been a tough period with the move and my niece's death. Tonight I made soup, mostly veggies and turkey kielbasa, very good. I'm not quite used to being able to eat just about anything again . . . able to--I know it's not necessarily a good idea just because I can.

I'm so sorry for your loss. Almost 50lbs is amazing! Your body just needs a little breather, then will reward you with a 2 pound drop. I'm sure of it!

  2. SO today is day 10 and I started my diet at 224 and am know at 216 lbs. When i first got my pamphlet i thought this would be easy because I thought  I could control my self. But dear god this has been the hardest journey of my life. Childbirth was more straightforward than not eating. I have had more cravings for things that I never really ate since I started. I won't lie I have cheated but food high in proteins. I felt discouraged until I saw I was loosing weight but right know this journey is extremely hard. I salute all who are currently doing their diets and those of you who are long pass this stage. ::) just a few more days to go.

Yes it did. I was on pre-op for 2 weeks and managed to lose about 19lbs before I went under. Surgery went fine. The biggest advise I can give is start moving as soon as you feel up for it. Even if it is walking +/- 5 minutes at first. I had my operation on Wednesday morning. I was home Thursday afternoon and just walking around my house for a few minutes. Come Friday afternoon I was taking short walks up and down the sidewalk. It really help especially if you get gas pain in the shoulder area like most do after laparoscopic based surgery.

I hope so and thank you. I want to be out quick so I can be home I don't like being in the hospital for more than 2 days.

Pre-op is by far the hardest as far as exercising willpower. You still have all of your hunger hormones, honeymoon period will not start until post op. Hang in there!

  3. Just had my one month post surgical appointment - all is going well. My surgeon worked to get me to not be upset with the three week stall that she turned into two weeks. All in all I'm happy with the surgery but I did the surgery to get down a 100 pounds not ten. So back to my water, protein and walking hopefully the stall will end soon.

  4. Going on day 3 of feeling awful, I cant keep my protein down, I can get very minimal water down at this poing everything makes me want to throw up... I have No will to eat or even drink at this point... my energy is super low I do good until about 330 and then I want to crash out... Thinking Im low on fluids so I may be making a trip to the Emergency room :(

Ice helps! I had trouble with water at first and crystal light went down easier (Weird I know but it worked) I was so swollen at first I had a similar time but it does get better. I promise! Thinking of you and hope it gets better soon.

  5. They warned me that I may not lose any weight immediately after surgery and they were right.  I've stayed the same to the tenth of a pound.  I've got my protein in every day, done my exercise (actually more that recommended), and got most of my daily water in.  And I've eaten only those foods dictated.  So Frustrating!.  Any suggestions on how to break this plateau?

    1. Michelle'sgarden

      Michelle'sgarden

I feel you first I lost a couple of pounds then gained back more! I'm folllowing every thing the doctor said including walking, protein and fluids. I finally hid the scale because the reality is the scale isn't telling the whole story. I've had to replace my entire wardrobe- the clothes I wore in June at the end of our school year didn't fit when's i tried them on last week - two weeks after surgery ( I also lost 40 pounds pre surgery). I put on a size Xl outfit today and in June as wearing 3x! So ignore the scale and check out your clothes, also do you have more energy etc? Good luck!

    2. Apple1

      Apple1

I'm not sure how long post-op you are, but the first week you actually gain water weight from all the IV fluids. I lost that and more by the end of the second week. Then at 3.5 weeks I hit the famous 3 week stall...lol.. so yeah very normal for some people. If you get stressed by stalls weigh less often for sure. I weigh everyday and so I am used to the bouncing up and down and don't stress about it. As long as you know you are following your plan you will lose, stall, lose, rinse and repeat.

    3. Gen17

      Gen17

I didn't know about this three week stall but I am there right now. I agree that hiding the scale is a good idea. It's hard because I want to know my progress but my clothes are all loose. I already had to do one huge overhaul of my closet and more than half had to be donated!

I am looking forward to more exercise besides just walking. I heard that will help too!

  6. I am pre-op.  Just starting out.  I have a potential problem with getting enough protein.  I have dairy product allergies (this is not lactose intolerance).  Also can't eat rice or oats.  What protein drinks could I buy or use.

    1. FluffyChix

      FluffyChix

So I also have a dairy allergy--causes asthma. I found 3 whey isolates that work for me. I can't have soy or other veggie proteins cuz of hormone positive breast cancer so it was super important to try out the proteins and make sure I could find one/some that work!

Isopure RTD drinks-Alpine Punch and grape. I dilute them 50/50 with water and add water drops to hide the after taste! I actually like them once watered down.

Isopure powdered protein isolates-dutch chocolate, creamy vanilla, bananas & cream (my fave), and unflavored to add to soups, etc to up the protein.

Synthrax Nectars protein isolates-Lemon Tea, Fuzzy Navel, Grapefruit are my 3 favorites. I ordered a sample kit from them for about $19 bucks?

Premier Protein RTD drinks-vanilla, chocolate, bananas n' cream-I tolerate on "good" lung days since they do also have protein concentrate in them rather than just isolate.

      Hope you find something!!

    2. Fatgirl56

      Fatgirl56

I bought some clear protein drinks. Premier protein clear and Atkins Lift. The Premier clear tasted awful but the Atkins Lift was pretty good. My nutritionist said to dilute with water might help......also thought about making popsicles with them.

  7. Well, here I am, nearly 5 days out. I'm still super tired, nauseated, in pain, and ready to feel better. I considered it a success today when I ate low-fat cream of chicken soup, strained of all the bits (Probably the first time I've been happy that Campbell's has cheaped-out and put the equivalent of a thumbtack size chunk of chicken in the whole can. Easier to strain!) I ate 1/2 cup made with water, a Tblsp of Nonfat dry milk  powder, and after it cooked I stirred in some unflavored protein powder. A hot dinner

Wondering how does anyone else deal with taking care of family? I still needed to cook dinner for my honey. He got a turkey burger, baked potato, and mixed veggies. This was the first time I've cooked for him post-op. So hard not to be able to taste anything, and still wanting to....

Anyway, I took my calcium chew today,  my multivitamin, my ondansetron, my omeprazole, my oxycodone, my docusate sodium, and ate a sugar free pudding cup, the soup, and about 1/2 cup of water, and took all day to drink a protein shake.

Well, I figure I need to cook us dinner right now anyway...so I make enough that we can have one meal and then the extra I put in vacuum packs and in the freezer they go! She is grateful and appreciative that I care enough to do it in advance...I like to cook anyway, but I'm not stepping foot in the kitchen in the weeks after my surgery.

    2. Callisto

Oh my goodness, hang in there! I forgot to look to see if you had the sleeve or another surgery. I cant imagine cooking for someone and feeling so ill yet starving also. Luckily, my family is used to me not cooking like I used before I had a full time + job. We only have two kids that live at home now. My older son came home on the deployment last time with home cooked food on his mind and he said, "Man, I am glad I was with the generation that got dinner every night" bless his heart! I still make an effort to cook for him when he is home on leave. I still get some long faces if they realize I am not cooking dinner some nights. The two seventeen year olds and my hubby know the drill now. They had to be re-trained, though. I still cook on the weekends and enjoy cooking for my family but I just dont have the time like I used to. Plus I can't really eat in the evnings ever since I had my gallbladder out because I get so miserable bloated (I know that is odd, you would think I would have lost weight but NOPE - I just eat my heavy meal in the mornings and taper off onto lighter foods during the day. Once in awhile I can watch them eat or go out to dinner and watch everyone else eat and that became easier over time after I forced myself to do it. Sometimes I have to mentally prepare myself and say "Ok, you can't eat this because you will regret it later." However, the difference is that you really are hungry and hardly able to get much down so I just cant imagine feeling nauseated and hungry but not hungry at the same time and cooking for someone else. It is funny how we figure out how so much love and socialization goes into food until we are caught at a point when we can't do it anymore.

I hope you feel better soon and I bet you will get to the point that you can still cook for your love, give yourself some time.

I see we are both short girls. :)

Before surgery earlier this week Monday 8/28, I made a roast with potatoes amd veggies in the crockpot so that the family would have leftovers for at least two days while I was in the hospital. Then I make chicken breast with cream of chicken soup in the crock pot. I strained the soup and put some away for myself. I left it up to them to decide what veggies they wanted. That lasted the rest of the week. They family is on their own today. Tomorrow i will make something that will last another few days, again probably in the crockpot like lasagna. It's going to be like this until I feel strong enough to cook without picking. Or when I am able to introduce solids.

  8. Yesterday was 3 months post-op. I have lost 35 lbs since my surgery and 82 lbs since August of last year. I am so happy that I decided to do this for myself. I am healthier than I have been in years and I feel amazing.

I was eating a low carb diet since December of last year and recently decided to transition to a whole foods plant based diet after reading the book Proteinaholic and  doing my own research. I have an incredible support system for this change as my circle of friends from church are all vegans/vegetarians. At this point my daily carb consumption has gone from 30g to about 55-70g and my protein has dropped from 80-85 down to 50-55. My blood sugar control has remained perfect despite the increase in complex carbs. I continue to avoid sugar, white flour, bread, white rice, and pasta.

My weight loss has actually picked up this past week, but this may just be a coincidence. I feel really good. The only slight negative I can note is am a little more drained after a run and have been unable to run my long distance of 3 miles yet. I have been sticking to 2-2.5 miles for now. I think my body is still adjusting to the change.

I am going to post my photo because a couple of people have requested before and after pics.  It is hard looking back, but it does help show us just how far we have come and what a difference a year can make.

  9. Here's a nice article, science based, about where I get my proteins from, having a Whole Foods plant based diet.

    https://nutritionfacts.org/topics/protein/

    1. Newme17

      Newme17

It's my understanding that we get too much protein (in the western diet). I am eating my complex carbs and still building my muscle. I just flexed to feel it. LOL My husband has also let go of all the animal protein and he's body building and noticeably getting larger. So, the whole notion about having to have so much protein to keep muscle isn't true in my opinion. I do weights three times a week and eat my plant based diet and I'm still building.

There will always be blogs/articles out there to support whatever diet someone chooses. It's our duty to pick it apart and ask questions. Most all of them will be cherry picked for obvious reasons. The book I'm reading, the bariatric doctor emphasizes on really learning to distinguish what's in a report, and too many of them are written by journalists, not real scientists (they don't have time to blog); thus we all believe them to be true. I was given a website by a fellow BP member to look at. This website is fact/science based. It's not an opinion. There are many videos that explain in depth how the body works...how it breaks down animal proteins, plant proteins, etc. There are so many topics discussed on this website that we could all learn from. nutritionfacts.org Sure, the author/doctor of the website (he has a book too-HOW NOT TO DIE) advocates a whole foods plant based diet, but he doesn't just state it, he shows the science behind it all; all the health benefits from it, just like bariatric Dr Garth Davis in his book Proteinaholic. It's fascinating stuff.

All scientific sources are cited as well.

Just one last comment before we agree to disagree.

You just had wls, you are not getting enough food to build at this point. At best, you are preserving muscles, which is great. https://www.muscleforlife.com/build-muscle-lose-fat/

This was just the first link, I can site a ton more. This one is interesting though.

Back in 2011-2012 I lost 67 lbs in a year, I also gained about 15 lbs of muscles. I worked out 6 days a week, but up to 12 times. I eat low carb. I lifted weights 4-5 times, and we are talking like 225 deadlifts, 160 lbs squats etc, with a trainer. I also ran (training for a half marathon), biked and swam, (training for a triathlon).

From what I understand (I could be mistaken), these changes you have made are fairly recent, meaning, there is not enough time to see if you have gained muscles (and as mentioned above, highly doubtful). You are loosing fat, meaning your muscles are becoming more prominent, it doesn't mean that you have built.

Last, a great link in general, nothing to do with this is better than that.

      http://www.bodyrecomposition.com/

He has 14 articles just discussing protein, all based on research. And he talks about all different kinds. I haven't read them all, and I can't say which he favors, but it is so interesting. He is siting a lot of research under each article. I though you might enjoy it.

  10. So, my last prerequisite appt went very well. The NUT answered a bunch of questions I had. I agreed with all. I lost 2 lbs. yay! Still have to work on my two bites of protein, one bite veggie deal. Of course, sipping water. The best part is that this office is so organized that all the paperwork will be submitted tomorrow. The lady in front went over all the prerequisites with me. All were finished and reports were attached. So, I expect to hear something from my insurance company next week (insurance says it won't take long for an answer as long as all papers are submitted). Then the office will call me and schedule my pre-op appt/start of my diet. I will have to do two protein shakes and one meal daily. No snacks. My one meal will be restricted to what they allow. Now, I just have to wait for the approval. Feels surreal to be at this point but I'm so glad it's almost here!

I'm just glad that I'm not going to be on ALL LIQUIDS!

  11. 4/13 - Was not able to really eat anything. All I wanted was water. I was no hungry and had to force myself to drink some protein shakes. I was not stomaching my pureed chicken and beans. Eggs was not staying down neither. Overall, it was not a good day. My vitamins were making me sick, just chewing them. I would spit them out. I ended up only being able to drink 1 protein shake (30G) and drinking almost 70 oz of water. It was like all my body wanted was water. I started drinking it at 8am and did not stop until 11:30pm.

4/14 - It got better. Was not able to stomach soft or pureed foods. However, I was able to drink 3 protein shakes (90g). I got in 64 oz of water on the mark.

4/15 - Tried to eat some grilled chicken from Chipotle, just the chicken and black beans that I smashed up (It was my Granny's B-Day and she always wanted to go). I chewed just a little and ran to the bathroom and dumped. It was immediate. I was really confused because I thought grilled chicken was okay to eat.

4/16 - I had some some egg whites with low fat cheese, just tuna and a protein shake. I was able to get in 56 oz of protein. I was really nervous, trying to eat. I still feel the restriction and when I reach my limit, I start burping which is my sign to stop eating. I have not tried any other foods yet. I am waiting until my NUT Appt to see what foods I can add.

    1. Newme17

      Newme17

You are brave! I don't know how I would fare trying to add in new foods. I think I'll be one to be stuck on protein drinks and beans for a while. Lol. We shall see. Your journey is paving the way for others behind you, like me. Thanks for all the updates!

    2. Sleeve1stFitNext

      Sleeve1stFitNext

I am glad that my updates can help. Some days are really good and others are a process to get the nutrients down. However, I would not change anything. I now view food soo differently. I shop differently. Even my Mom and brother shop differently. It is interesting to see them slowly changing their habits as I am learning new ones.

    3. Newme17

      Newme17

That's great influence! I'm glad to hear they're changing habits too. My husband told me he will go plant based with me. Obviously, I'd have to wait for clearance post op, but we're doing plant based now. He doesn't need to lose weight or anything, he's doing it for support and because of nutritional aspects. I love him even more for it. 😍

  13. Today is the ending of day 4 on my liquid (greens) diet. I decided yesterday to visit my granny and little cousins since I was in Manhattan. Did not prepare to stay the night. I did not have any protein shakes. I ended up getting some cucumbers which are allowed on my diet and eating those. I had a 2 sugar free Popsicles, 1 can of carnation milk (fat free) with some tea. I finally found a pharmacy that had the premier protein shakes. The only issue is, between yesterday and today, my protein intact is low. I am feeling obnoxiously happy and I am not sure if I am delusional or what.

Yesterday, I only had 350 calories of food with a Protein intact of 18g. Today is much better with 390 calories but a protein intact of 40g. I am hoping that I have not truly starved myself.

Tomorrow, my goal is to catch up on my protein. I am thinking that the 3 shakes, and two cups of broth can put me back on track. I weigh in tomorrow as well. Maybe I will see some pounds dropped (fingers crossed).

  14. Post OP- Day 12

So since my pre op meeting (June 5th) I am down 40 lbs. I have lost 14 lbs since my surgery June 28th. I saw my nutritionist this morning and she said I have to work to get in more protein. I have been getting better. They found during my surgery I had a hiatal hernia, which my doctor repaired. Sometimes I gasp for air as I have not been breathing for minutes. But I have been doing breathing treatments and it is much better. Yesterday I did over half a mile on the treadmill in under 14 min. That felt good, it felt good to sweat. I am so ready to get to the gym and hit the ground running. I know I have such a long road ahead of me but I am excited for the journey. For the first time I cooked dinner for my family last night and it felt soooo good. I had been removing myself from situations involving food.  My husband and son went to Mcdonalds and I just sat in the car and waited. I would get angry and I did not like that. Cooking for them gave me pleasure and I wasn't tempted at all surprisingly. I just tasted some sauce I made to make sure the flavors were on point and boom shacka lacka! Since my surgery I have lost a loved one and gained a niece, it has been such an emotional time for me but I know that God has a bigger plan for me. <3

      Yay...14!? Wow...that's great!

As for the removing of self at restaurants, etc...I have not sat outside, but I go in with the family. It was hard the first couple of times, this last time was way easier. I wasn't hungry and sure, the pizza looked great and smelled great, but I was in control. Until you feel ready to do so, I'd encourage you to go with your family and sit with them, while they eat. You'll have fellowship with them despite not eating the food or even the same food (cause there are things we can get) as them. I'm glad you enjoyed the cooking...I do too, especially now that I eat most of what I do cook anyway (more plant based dishes). You'll get there.

Thank you very much for the advice and words of encouragement! <3 Hope you are doing well!

  15. Having a breakthrough with my supervised diet.

Calorie counting mindset = 2200 calories a day, what can I eat that will keep me under this number? Get to suppertime, oh no, I only have 300 calories left, what can I possibly eat?

Nutrition mindset = What can I eat that has the most protein and fiber? Get to suppertime, wow, I am still only at 1000 calories for the day and have not even had much hunger. What do I get to eat for supper?

It's really amazing. I lost almost 80 lbs with the calorie counting mindset so yes, it does work, but ultimately I couldn't sustain it and I was hungry and frustrated a lot. Feeling much better since I made that simple switch to hunting for high protein foods.

  16. Happy Thursday! Nothing much to update on, I'm just writing to keep up the habit. I've been plugging away at food/protein/water goals. Going grocery shopping tomorrow, so next week I'll be (slowly) introducing new foods to my sleeve. I still feel a good amount of fatigue which currently is my biggest frustration. There are people who reported feeling their energy come back by now, and while I have had a steady increase, I still get fatigued pretty quickly. Fingers crossed that I'll turn a corner soon!

I had a bout of fatigue a few days ago. I feel a bit back on track again. Has your fatigue been steady or periodically? I haven't quite pinpointed why mine was around. I didn't workout those days either...just didn't feel up to it. But today I feel great.

    2. MSinger

      MSinger

I'm glad you're feeling better :) My fatigue is pretty consistent. It's definitely gotten better since surgery, but I still lose my energy quickly. I'm hoping that as I'm able to eat more calories it'll get better.

  17. I have hit the dreaded stall. I had surgery on May 26th, so this is a little disheartening. Trying to remind myself that this is a part of the process. It's still frustrating though. (-_-) I have been bouncing been 1.5 lbs for the past week and a half. Just have to focus on getting my water and protein in and ignore the stall. Maybe I should just hide the scale?

    1. BeautifulDisaster1991

      BeautifulDisaster1991

Stay off the scale for a good week or so. My surgery was on May 8th and up until 2 weeks ago I would weigh myself everyday, multiple times a day and would get very discouraged when I would not see any changes or see it increase by a few ounces. So now I weigh myself every Sunday morning and track my progress, the loss is there and it makes me feel so much better about my progress. Best of luck to you. Stay positive

The number on the scale is just a number. It will go down, hang out at a particular place for a while, and go down again. My weight loss has been nothing but "stalls" (up to 3 weeks at a time) but I've still lost almost 80 pounds (60 since surgery). This isn't a race. Also, have you measured yourself lately? You may not see the inches coming off, but if you measure regularly (once a month or so) you'll definitely see those numbers go down!

  18. 5/20 - Ate the eggplant ricotta bake. I had that foamy feeling in my mouth and the rumbles. I guest eggplant does not sit well in my tummy. Went to the Taco placed and got a naked chicken burrito. I tried their new kind of chicken (FYI The guy failed to inform me that it was chipotle spicy chicken. Oh it tasted delicious. 5 minutes later I was puking up foam. I ended up spending my lunch break laid on the floor in the back of the office curled up in the fetal position. So spicy food does not love me anymore :(.

5/21 - Did not have any meal prep because the eggplant would not sit well in my tummy. The left over Halal chicken that I had, I spilled pulling it out of the my lunch box (Damn Portion8 container lol) I ended up getting a chicken Salad from the Turkish place downstairs. It was an interesting taste. It was sweet. Felt very disappointed after I weighed in. I only lost 4 oz for that week. I had worked out really hard. I did however notice that my stomach is getting smaller. I might have just lost inches and gained muscle. Lost 8.8 lbs during my second month post-op. Current 220.6 lbs

5/22 - Wanted to get a Protein Drink from Vitamin Shoppe. Ended up getting some Atkins Granola bars. DO NOT BUT THEM. They are delicious, high in protein but have 17g of carbs in one bar but they advertised it at NET Carbs 3g. SNEAKY SNEAKY. I ate two of them and then realized it. They also are 210 calories each. It works because I will be full off of one for 2+ hours however 420 calories on just two bars is a lot. Now I have to be really mindful of what I am reading. When I see low carbs I have to check to see if it says NET (they do some type of convoluted math to get to that low number). Went to the gym before work and the trainer really kicked my butt. I am sore but loving it. Today, we focused on Cardio. Tomorrow he said will be weight lifting. Wish me luck!!! Oh dinner and lunch consist of grilled chicken breast and a dipping sauce that I made (1/4 cup fire roasted tomato sauce and 1/2 tsp of ricotta). Watermelon on the side for snacks.

@Brit in Oz Thank you. "Dumping" is vomiting. It is supposed to mainly happen to bypass patients and some lap band patients but sleeves get it too if the food does not sit well.

@Sweet as peaches Thank you as well. I am trying my best. I am really gaining muscle at this point though. I want to be toned as much as possible.

I read that 17% of Sleevers get the dumping. You and I are in that group. Lol. We're special. Lol

Yeah I was shocked that I would be in that group. However, it is really helping me figure out what foods I can and cannot eat. My relationship with food has changed soo much due to Dumping lol

  19. Had my surgery on May 2 and finally into the Puree stage - which I'm told I will be on for 4 weeks. I was back working half days as a clinic nurse the monday after surgery... so you could say the recovery was pretty painless other than that dang internal stitch! Getting my protein in was such a challenge for the first 2 weeks - and getting enough fluids in is STILL hard. Taking my vitamins religiously. Weight dropped super quickly in the first two weeks and now has settled at about the same weight for about 4 days. Maybe my first stall?

    1. Newme17

      Newme17

I'd like to think that there are no stalls. Mainly because even if the scale number doesn't go anywhere, you body is still changing (most likely losing inches). Blessings on your journey hon!

That's a good outlook to have! I think that subconsciously I'm still afraid its "just another failed attempt" at successful and long term weightloss and that I'll be that wonderwoman who can't lose weight even on <1000 calories per day :P I just need to trust the process and get off the scale!

    3. Newme17

      Newme17

Absolutely. The nurse who discharged me today said "don't get on the scale!" Lol. It was nice to hear because I don't weigh myself anyway...but that she understood the frustration of patients afterwards.

As long you stick to your program and adopt a lifestyle change, you will be that Wonder Woman who lost the weight. You can do this....😉

  20. 5/9 - It was a decent day. I cannot complain. I decided to focus on liquids. Just protein shakes and water. I felt like I needed more water than anything else. Saw the gym at the new building, it is amazing. Personal trainer and all. I will be signing up once I am back from vacation, I will be able to do a lot of workout stuff.

      • Yes it really is. I like being able to exercise. You do not realize what you miss until your required not to do it.
  21. 5 days post opp  had issue with swollen fingers but I had chicken Brest that was high sodium.  Sleep just okay last night but every night is better pain is tolerable now. I only take pain medication at bedtime  but I'm still not able to get recommended protein in. Not sure how to do that if 3 meals are 1 to 2 oz a day   If anyone knows of a puréed food that has 20 grams of protein in 2 oz pass it along.

Hope all is well with everyone !

Ray - try to get your hands on these protein shakes, they were recommended by the nutritionist, they taste good, not diety, and they are packed with protein. Sams Club, Costco, Wal-Mart all sell them - Sams is the cheapest.

  22. I have 10 days until my 1 year. I still have 15 pounds I need to lose to get to my goal weight. I will be disappointed if I don't lose at least 5 more pounds before my anniversary so I decided to put myself on the same liquid diet that I did before surgery: 11 days focused on protein shakes. If I reach the 150s, I will be delighted. I know once the weight comes off, I can keep it off because I am good at maintaining. I actually think it would be good to put myself on this diet 1x a year every year to remind myself of the difficult time I had before surgery. I will be sad to miss out on a few nice dinners I would have otherwise consumed like the wedding I am going to on Saturday and the birthday party on Friday. Or the Wings game tomorrow. Or the potluck at church yesterday... But, you know what's better than free food? 150s.

Why would you be disappointed? You're a success in every measure!

  23. I get to my gym this morning to find a note plastered on the door that they’ll be closed temporarily (like a few months) due to construction needing to be done. Okay, that’s fine. But why didn’t they inform their members in advance? Sigh... Anyway, I have the option to drive clear across town to three other locations, but not sure I want to. Would you drive or suck it up and try and workout at home?

    1. Newme17

      Newme17

@Sleeve1stFitNext Definitely won't be complaining about location/time anymore!!!! 1-1.5 hours!? Eeee! Thank you hon.

I took the scenic route, which is along the ocean/bay...where all the million dollar homes are. It was so beautiful, so I will continue to embrace the (little) journey. :) haha

@Newme17 Yeah, I have become a gym rat. I am really cool with the trainers, the people that work out their and Vinny the cleaning guy. It is what makes you want to go. I enjoy my gym. I enjoy my trainer and enjoy seeing people making gains.

    3. Newme17

      Newme17

@Sleeve1stFitNextonce upon a time i was the rat...and very healthy one. I knew the trainers, etc...was single too! :) Now, it's totally different. I make friends with other moms and the gym daycare worker. LOL I do know the cleaning lady as well. Times change, but the want to workout has always been there. I hope it'll always be so with you...now that you're the rat! Enjoy!

  24. I am 4weeks post surgery and now on soft diet.  How many calories per day?  I had fixed my myfitnesspal app to do 1200 calories with 75% protein, 15% fat and 10% carbs.  Is this correct?  I'm curious, what are some of you doing?

    Thanks.

  25. Made a smoothie! Cacao powder, peanut butter, frozen banana, large scope of protein powder with cacao nibs and crushed almonds!
