I found this at Walgreen's accidentally. It's the "Post bariatric surgery formula" chewable vitamin/mineral supplement you take 4 times a day. It is citrus flavor and I like it. It makes me feel like I am eating/chewing. I know if it were a big ole horse pill, I wouldn't take it. Maybe later, I will switch up. And, I take Trill Oil, omega-3, just one small capsule per day.

If anyone is in the NW or Atlanta area, you should give great consideration to Dr. Ryland Scott at the Harbin Bariatric Clinic in Rome, GA. He is an amazing surgeon and the insurance approval process was very minimal. No pre-op dieting and has a fantastic bed-side manner...not to mention HE'S GORGEOUS! Check it out: Harbin Clinic Bariatric Center

Hey there. I am new here and not sure about posting but I feel like I am all alone. I had surgery 10 years ago, I didn’t ever lose that much weight with it and ended up getting sick and not being able to keep up with my running which I miss more than anything. Anyway, I am 20 lbs over the weight I was before my surgery. I am always so tired and I could sleep anywhere at anytime, although the test said I didn’t have sleep apnea. My BMI is a shameful 45. I wasn’t sure who to contact so I contacted my Bariatric Doctor’s office. I am unable to go to the one that originally did my surgery. I’ve been dealing with a NP (which I really adore) that told me no to a revision, but she’s put me on phentramine and they don’t even give me energy and I never had a problem with over eating I have a problem with forgetting to eat 🙄 All of my pills I have to take now makes me sick, I feel nauseous all of the time, zero energy. I have been checked for depression (of course vitamin levels) I take those even though they make me nauseous. This dr is 3 hours a way we’ve only been able to do telemed visits. I would like another opinion but I don’t want to step on anyone’s toes and get in trouble with dr shopping or have anyone mad. I wasn’t sure if people start out with their PCP or surgeon. sorry I rambled I’m nervous and so confused! Idk where in the world to go from here. Lol thanks for listening to me.

Surgery At University Illinois At Chicago
Shubox replied to FlawlessVictory13's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I know your asking about UIC but just a little north at Rush there is a great bariatric program and Dr. Myers has done 500+ sleeves and over 5,000 bands just some info -
Sweeney is an experienced Bariatric surgeon - his specialty is the RnY bypass. He did an RnY bypass for my pal - she did fine, lost more than 100#. He is the Chief Bariatric Surgeon at St Luke's Hospital (Baylor, of course, is the medical school but St. Luke's is the name of the actual hospital.) I know that St. Luke's Bariatric was planning on starting LapBanding but I honestly don't know a single LapBand patient who has been through the program. As for Unicare - it's a different kind of insurance, so you want to ask his specific office about which policy (some Unicare policies do not pay for bariatric) you have and whether they accept it. Good Luck. Happy Band (and Life) Journeys To All...

Spin Off thread: do people comment often?
finding_onederland posted a topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Someone asked about having a good comeback ready when someone tells you you're taking the easy way out - and I'm wondering, does this happen often? I am just not the type of person that makes comments about Other people's health choices - it's hard for me to wrap my head around. (Only a choice few people know that I'm having Bariatric surgery. I'm guessing my co- workers will put 2+2 together when I'm out for two weeks and then start losing weight) Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -
Hello all, Been a long time since I was here. Lots going on. on 20 Oct 2019 it will be 3 years since my RNY surgery. I have a checkup with my bariatric surgeon today. It is supposed to be every year, but since the emergency surgery last year it has been every six months. I have stopped going to support group (I think it is great but I am not getting anything out of it). I am still about 155 lbs and am pretty happy. Still have sugar issues, but everything else is ok (per blood tests). I get to go next month for the MRCP on my pancreas (I am hoping the IPMN hasn't grown). I flew from Detroit to Pharr, TX a couple of weeks ago to pick up a Mazda MX5 (my dad gave it to me, he can't drive it anymore), and drove it 1700 miles back to Detroit. Then a little over a week later my wife's brother was killed in an automobile accident. I drove about 500 miles (from Detroit to Carthage, NY) last Thursday (so I could be at his service) and got up the next morning and drove about 500 miles back to Detroit. Not really feeling it anymore, this is probably going to be my last time seeing my surgeon. I don't need to pay him $40 to have him tell me I am doing fine. I know how I am doing. I hope everyone is doing well.

I'm sure you'll be inundated soon with denials to what you read, RMC. I've been going to a support group for bariatric patients (even though my own surgery isn't for another 10 days) and we ocassionally have pot lucks, and it's really wonderful to see how everybody eats a small little portion of several different things, including chile, casseroles, pumpkin bread, etc. Whatever you read, it was WAY WRONG. Make a smiley face and be happy! The worst thing you might have to face is that a few people seem to develop an intolerance to dairy products, or something like that. (I'm hoping I do, because I just love cheese and ice cream too dang much!) I'm not your doctor or nutritionist, but I'd guess that you will probably start on creamy Soups pretty soon, including tomato -- yumm. And congratulations on your 24 pound loss!

Tofu is pretty good too. I had some yesterday with 2 slices of avacado! Today I had tuna and humus! Pinterest has all kinds of bariatric recipes for various stages. Hang in there! Oh and if you eat mashed pots get instant! I've tried ordering them at 3 different places...fail!!!

Switch insurance mid-process
cableworth replied to damzelindistres5's topic in Insurance & Financing
I'm in the same position, however after talking to the insurance specialist at the Bariatric center they told me that the 6 months requirement are very similar and will be valid for the next carrier. You'd most likely pick up where you left off. I'm going from bsbc to blue shield, and my 6th visit will be in beginning of December. -
Insure Nutritions works! Not a scam, as long as your insurance covers protein supplements. They also send you a cream for scars and bariatric vitamins, only thing I paid was the shipping. I had to stay on the doctors office and Insure Nutritions people about faxing, signing and sending prescriptions.

New here - Lots of health issues
Frustr8 replied to TheGoodLyfe's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
Thank you for sharing that, I did mine in a hospital setting, it's a good thing nobody has seen my ugly wuggly pictures all wired up, I look like I need to be taken out behind the barn and put out of my misery. I look like a BEFORE picture for Weight Loss Surgery, anyone seeing it would go running to the Bariatric facility and ask for a preventive make-over gastrically! And I deluded myself at that time that I was CUTE! -

I went private. I would not have qualified for public. I went to a great bariatric specialist here in Auckland but she doesn't do the plastics unfortunately. I know a few who have gone to Thailand for plastics so it may be worth exploring. I always get travel insurance when we travel (your Mum is right ) and I had never thought about how there is probably an option for medical travel insurance so I will look into it! -
I am post-op Gastric Sleeve by 1 week tomorrow. I went the self pay with hiatal hernia repair route. My insurance would not pay for bariatric surgery but would pay for hernia repair. By having the hernia repaired, I saved a little under $10,000 out of pocket for my gastric sleeve. Gastric sleeve price was $16,500 out without hernia repair..... $6,700 with hernia repair and insurance coverage. I feel great and am looking forward to a healthier future not only due to the weight loss but to the hernia being repaired. By the way, I live in MT but had surgery in Henderson, NV. It was totally worth the trip!!

I started my journey in mid August 2016 when i went to my GP to be referred to the bariatric clinic in the hospital. i'm a 'healthy' obese women with no comorbids. after getting a green light for surgery, i called the hospital yesterday to ask for a surgery date. they gave me 16th March (with warning that it can be changed...typical NHS) So if surgery will be in March, thats 7 months from beginning to end under the NHS. not too bad.

Hi guys! I'm new here so I'm sorry if this is the wrong board or whatever, but I have a question. My insurance is BCBSFL and while researching, I learned that BCBS does not cover bariatric surgery in Florida. But I do have a BMI in excess of 40, and I was wondering if there was something I could do like submit a form or something that would get them to cover it? Has anyone had any luck or experience with this? Thanks in advance.

Help! Ate too much! Pain in the middle.
perfektlynrml replied to perfektlynrml's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
Hi everyone. Just saw the Bariatric program nurse and we were troubleshooting what happened. She feels that even light mayo is too much fat to tolerate at the purée stage for some. She recommended using fat free plain yogurt instead. We discussed how not having good coping mechanisms for stress led me to seek out pleasure from food and take in more then was appropriate. I’ve had stress with my mother, my daughter and my dog this past week and my normal way to deal is to devour something rich and put myself in a food coma. Because I tried to use my old method with my teeny stomach pouch I caused a bolus of food to get stuck. In some ways I wonder if I did this so I could get everyone to get off my back this week. Not consciously but maybe a self sabotage so everyone would have to fend for themselves. I see it now but I didn’t see it then. I’ve got to stay self-aware while eating. This was too traumatic of an experience to repeat. -

I know they have "Sipping Broths" and I bet most of these things at the Bariatric Pal Store. Reasonable prices, great shipping time frame, and all things formulated from our Bariatric Viewpoint. Why enrich Jeff Bezos and his ever- expanding spider of Amazon? And I will tell you, I have been VERY SATISFIED with my BPStore purchases. Planning to redeem some more of the points I have accrued in the Near Future. I get even better delivery time than many things in my Home State(Ohio) and They are in New York!👍😛❤ -
How did you pick your doctor?
Starwarsandcupcakes replied to imlosingit2020's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Mine worked with my dad for over a year to try and save his leg before they ultimately amputated. I’m thoroughly convinced he saved my dad’s life. I actually met him at one of my dad’s post op appointments 2 years before I needed him. Fast forward to April 2019 and I need an appendectomy and he’s the surgeon I chose for that. At my post op he invited me to a bariatric seminar and he did my sleeve in December 2019. He’s also my surgeon for my RNY revision this coming Tuesday. I don’t think I could trust another surgeon with what he does. -
How I became a Gastric Bypass (revisional bariatric) surgery patient
LegacyLizzy posted a topic in Revision Weight Loss Surgery Forums (NEW!)
I have experienced two bariatric surgeries: A stomach stapling with internal ring-band in 1990 and a gastric bypass in 2012. In 2012, I needed a specialist in revisional bariatric surgery to handle my case because I was suffering from a failed gastric ring bariatric surgery that took place in 1990. Testing in 2011, revealed that I was suffering from an ulcer and internal bleeding. The ring inside of me was protruding into my stomach lining and it had broken open causing a dangerous situation. I had regained all my previous weight too, 90 lbs. Fortunately, my family doctor located a specialist for me, Dr. Deveney at Oregon Health and Science University, and I was put on the fast track for a revisional operation, which ending up being a gastric bypass. Now I am 2 years post surgery and having no problems. -
