Severe nightime reflux was the ONLY sign that my band had slipped. Went for months with it every single night. Some nites, I'd wake up with a pool of brown stomach acid on my pillow (sorry if tmi). I'd cough all night and my throat would burn from the acid. Nothing helped. I took RX Prilosec, OTC Zantac and chewed Tums constantly. Slept on 3 pillows, almost upright. I was afraid to go to the drs for fear he's unfill me. He did. only by 1/2 tho. It helped immediately. Yes, you need to see your dr when reflux occurs. It could be that you're just too tight, but it could also be that you have a slip. Good luck! Marci

Ok I have to ask...are things going too well? Am I overdoing it?
missblonde20 replied to higher's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was sleeved 7/7 and doing very well! I just feel a bit nervous about liquids and any mushy foods just going 'straight through' me! I get a sore tummy and then TMI, gastro..ugh! Nut said to get off protein shakes for a few days, and see how I go. She thinks they might be too rich at the moment...but I will see. I just don't know what to eat ha -
I used to have the gag reflex. Sorry this is TMI but if you keep a pepsemint candy or altoid in your mouth you create good saliva and the gag refles is eiter gone or lessened. Hope that was not too much. lol But if you like doing it this helps.

"doin the dirty" is sooo much better now!
millergirl314 replied to Mia Eck's topic in The Gals' Room
Yes!!! Almost confident enough to try some special moves.... Lol My problem is that I'm only 3 mos out but I have some loose skin on my lower tummy from going up and down in my weight all my life and having babies, so (sorry TMI) when I ride my man my belly jiggles all around lol and if I see it at all it makes me really self conscious. Does it get easier to deal with all that while gettin'nasty? -
Sorry girl it was meant for sugar free me but I miss an selected wrong thing and seen where you commented and wasn't paying attention. Hi Shannon - I have a whey protein I got from Fruitful Yield, it's called Now Sports Whey Protein Isolate - unflavored. Because it's whey (dairy) it's good for adding to soups (Cream of Chicken soup that is strained) and Hot tea as it gives it a creamy consistency. It has 27 grams of protein a scoop so I add 1/2 a scoop and I'm good for 10/12 grams each 4 oz serving. I also add it to my cream of wheat cereal. Yesterday I added refried beans with a dallop of sour cream. Yummy!!!!! Today I'm going to add blended cottage cheese. One new food a day was recommended so I can see what my tummy thinks of each one. So far no real bad reactions to anything except Tomato soup. That left me with a yucky filmy feel in my mouth for hours after I ate. Also later that night I had diarrhea (tmi), I don't want that again. Are you eating pureed's yet and if so, what's working for you?

Will Shoulder Pain Ever Go Away??!!!
LittleGirlBlue replied to Cindyjoe's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Interesting... We are learning every day. I realized today that stress can trigger left shoulder pain for me. I've seen some people post about stress making them feel tighter and/or they can't eat as much when syressed. Just wondering if that cam push on the phrenic nerve. I know if I have waited to long to pee (sorry if this is TMI) the pressure and fullnes pushes on enough internal stuff that I have left shoulder pain. I'm 3 1/2 months out. Please keep updating- I like learning about what each of you experience. -
Hey All, How is everyone? Just checking in. I've had a good and rough couple of days. I had to go to have a Cat Scan (related to my hysterectomy), and I had to drink a big container of dye so they could see. I got home and I have had horrible diahrria (like water)....sorry if it's TMI. This was Friday, and it's still going on. So, I'm trying to figure out if its's from that, or sugar free stuff (in the past it gave me Gastro problems, gas etc, or is it because I'm just drinking fluids. Anyways, have any of you had this issue? I'm still on Clear liquids hopefully until Thursday (I have a Post Op exam). I am hungry, and really tired of liquids. I miss food A LOT. I drove by some of my favorite spots, and I had to pray...because I wished I could eat that stuff again. I haven't been advanced to Protein yet (probably will be on Thursday). What Protein shakes do you all like? The good news is I'm down 15.8 lbs! I am thrilled about that. My bra is loser, and I tried on 3 outfits in my closet and I could fit them! I even was able to wear a couple of 1X or X-Large items. That part is great! My husband is noticing every day, and he started calling me Skinny today. We are both happy that the weight is coming off. Also, do you all take a PPI. I take Zantac twice a day, and I still get this gnawing feeling at night. Some have suggested I change it if I'm feeling hungry, because it might be acid.

I told my boss and four direct colleagues. I've lost about 45 pounds and it's interesting that they never mention it. Don't compliment me or ask questions. I don't think they're talking about me behind my back. I think they just have good boundaries. I work in HR and have over 200 employees that I work with. I haven't told any of them bc that seems like TMI.

I had surgery on 3/20 and since I've had maybe 6 BMs, all have been black and very soft but not loose. I read that the first one or two could be normal due to blood in intestine from surgery but it should go back to normal. I also read that continued black stool could be a sign of internal bleeding in the upper GI. I'm going to call tomorrow but wanted to hear others experiences.

I would definitely mention this to your primary care/gynecologist. Could be unrelated to the surgery. TMI.....Im actually enjoying it again as Mr. can find his way down there much easier with less fat rolls!

I learend a lesson-what NOT to eat. TMI but it can happen folks!

I was banded on May 4th and I am able to start eating this week mushy casseroles, tuna, flakey fish, refried beans.. you get the picture. Well, one thing my DR said I could eat is cheese Enchiladas. YUM! Today, my co-workers who are so supportive of me invited me to go along to Rosa's Tortilla factory. I ordered the cheese enchiladas and Beans. I immediately portioned my food to half an enchilada and a tiny bit of beans and began eating. I ate in small bites and everything went down fine. I was full and content and just happy to be out with everyone after eating at my desk. Well, not ten minutes after I ate, my intestines decided to rebel on me. Luckily, I made it back to work but spent an lovely 30 minutes in the restrooms. So, a HUGE lesson learned, be careful what I eat and watch the fat content. I think I will be sticking with liquids tonight for dinner. -
Hey laguerr13 my sleeve brother form another surgeon!???? lol. I am so happy to hear how awsome you've been doing I always like reading your post because you really make sence and you keep it real. Mostly cause we were renewed on the same date June 10th! I wish I could say im doing as well with my eating like you seem to be doing. My issue is that I can not tolerate meat at all and believe me I have tried very lean chicken breast, thighs, Beef in several diffrent cuts from tri tip, to T- bone and beyond. Fish ive had sword fish and salmon shrimp and crab meat and even sardines. I have never been a big meat eater to begin with but now since we have to chew our food so thouroghly I have been experiencing this weird thing where I begin to get a mental picture of the meat Im eating and I begin to breakdown it down in my head the texture, the fibereous meat, the layers of fat and the veins and blood even by the time Im done chewing my food (Im sorry TMI) in gaging and can barely swollow what Ive just chewed up! I try not to think about it,i try to distract my thought but I just get so grossed out by meats no matter how its prepared. My fear is that I will never be able to eat meats again and enjoy them. Another thing Im having issues with is im very sensative to certain scents and odors. I cant stand the smell of very strong spices or fried foods cigaretts and for a while a lot of things smelled like onions or vinager to me but no one else!! Its really kind of weird! But to end this on a possative note I have lost 33 lbs since surgery my presurgery weight was 235 and today I weigh 203 lbs I feel great and starting to look pretty good!

HI! May I join this group??? Some of you know me by now. I was banded in 2003, lost 80 lbs in 7-8 months, had a major upheaval in my life for 2.5 years and I turned to food for comfort, regained 55 lbs, then got my head on straight and lost about 60 pounds since March. So, I am down a total of 84 pounds as of today. I want to lose about 78 more, though I will probably go about 65 pounds more, then see a plastic surgeon for a body lift and boob reduction. That should take care of a few more pounds, at least! TMI?? My next mini-goal is to lose 16 pounds so I can say that I have lost 100 pounds! Hopefully, I can do that in the next 4-6 weeks!
-
you are more than welcome to join! And there is no such thing as TMI in this group. LOL So welcome to the group sheryl!!! Go to the first page and grab yourself a scorecard. That way you can be accountable while you are here. Plus it allows us all to cheer you on. YAY SHERYL!!!

How are your incisions? How many do you have?
kinserj posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi everyone! I was banded on 11/10 and have 5 incisions. They were closed with steristrips and all have fallen off except for the one on the largest incision. I started to try and peel it off but it looked like it was pulling off the scab (so sorry if that's TMI or grossing anyone out). Not sure if I should just peel it off anyway? All of the handouts and what I've read said to peel them off in the shower after 2 weeks. I'm sure it's closed, I'm just weirded out as I've never had surgery or incisions to deal with :-/ -
Constipation with extra protein?
planetheather replied to gastricsleever's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Oh heavens, yes! I had my gallbladder out 5 years ago and have had real "dumping syndrome" problems until my WLS 3 months ago. Actually until 4 months ago when I went on the pre-op diet and also cut out coffee. I will tell you that there are days I wax poetic about the loss of dumping syndrome. But that's not everyone. Some people get dumping syndrome after WLS. I have not. I do make sure I get at least 70 oz of Water a day and that helps. I saw a good post about someone adding dehydrated veggies to their diet to help with regularity. I know a lot of people use Fiber products to help. I haven't been so uncomfortable yet that I've tried it. But I'm tempted on the weeks when I'm stalled on my weight loss! I know--TMI. -
How about some NSVs!?!?
bellabloom replied to shyanne's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
TMI- being able to wipe my tushy without yoga moves. Hahahhaha!!! It's been a long time!! -
Blending with ice definitely helps me as well. I seem to be able to get ice cold things in easier than anything else. I am 14 weeks out (tomorrow) and have been having a REALLY difficult time eating actual food. I've had a lot of nausea, vomiting, major constipation (sorry, TMI I know). I've been on ALL kinds of medicine for all of those symptoms....the 24/7 nausea has finally started to pass, now it is only occasional, which is so much better. BUT, I really need to start eating actual food. Any ideas?? Meat does not seem to work for me - I was never a huge fan pre-surgery, but since surgery, meat just does not agree with my new pouch. Eggs seem to be too difficult as well. I need some high protein, low carb, low fat, low sugar ideas.

TMI I know, but I've had like practically uncontrollable watery diarrhea all day. Is that normal or worth calling the doc about you think? -
banded 2/19, having a bad day, need some support
great expectations replied to Laura P's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I know how you must feel. I still have problems passing gas more frequently. I have just resolved that it is a natural bodily function and , oh well. At least they are not really smelly (TMI). As for vitamins, I take chewable Centrum. Orange flavor and not too bad either. Wal Mart has these proteing shots-26gm of protein in fruit punch flavor. I add one to a bottle of crystal light and just sip on it until it is gone. I find when I am just sipping all day, I can down more than I realize. Hang in there....this too shall past!:cursing: -
This is a WAY TMI post.. but I need help!
ashbhey posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm really not kidding or exaggerating.. This is super tmi.. Turn around now if you're easily grossed out! Sooooo.. Two issues. One is for my fellow lady sleevers... I got sleeved Monday (so I'm 6 days post OP). I started my period Wednesday, 3 weeks early (I'm on birth control to have it once every 3 months). I can't remember the last time I bled this bad. I mean, it's REALLY heavy. Is this normal? Second TMI question... I can't stop pooping! Every hour-ish I'm running to the potty. I have no idea why! I'm on a liquid diet! And it's a very liquidy #2, but still.. I'm only 6 days post op.. It's REALLY hard for me to turn the necessary ways in order to wipe my bum.. Especially 10 times a day. Any insight or advice? -
Tomorrow will be a week since my surgery and the pain is getting better everyday. It’s really just 2 incisions on my left side that seem to hurt the most. I still can’t bend down or over and I’m sore to the touch. The day after my surgery was pretty rough. The pain was awful and I actually ended up throwing up twice just from sucking on a sugar free popsicle and sipping water. I ran a slight temp that night and the next as well. I haven’t had to take my blood pressure medicine since the second day home from the hospital which is awesome! The first 2 days were so hard to try to take my pills and vitamins but now it’s not so bad. I’m squeezing in 30-40 ounces of water a day and about 2 protein shakes. I tried a ricotta bake recipe I found off the Bariatastic app today and I was only able to take about 5 bites. It was delicious though! I’ve tried a few nibbles of some baked beans and I can eat cottage cheese ok. Weird thing is I feel hungry a lot! I went expecting that but I get full so fast. I went for a 1.6 mile walk today which felt great and drove for the first time today too. That actually made me really nauseous though which I haven’t been feeling since the first day home. And I know this is TMI but had my first bowel movement today since the surgery . That was so painful though. I think I need to ask about some kind of stool softener! The part that makes everything all worth it is I feel thinner already! Clothes and underwear are looser and my hubby already noticed a difference! As of this morning I’m 13lbs down!
