    Blood Pressure Meds

I was on 50 mg lisinipril and within a week needed to reduce, I am now down to 30 mg. At one week post-op my BP dropped to 90/50 ish... I adjusted (self directed) to 40 mg and monitored for 4 days, never getting above 97/70...at 30 mg now, my dizziness is gone and I'm averaging about 110/75. I haven't lost any weight per se since hitting my 3 week stall, so the bp has also stabalized. Understand, it's not just the weight loss...but the severe reduction in food and sodium. lol
  2. I did too (from 5-600 to 7-800) & my 3 week stall ended & I've lost 12 lbs in a week!!!! Whooohoooo!! 8 weeks out Down 43 lbs post-op!! Congrats, let's keep it moving in the right direction!

    No Weight Loss

Thanks. I'm actually only 17 days post op. In your opinion (& I will do the google search), could the "3 week stall" occur just after 2 weeks? VSG: 5/24/2017 HW: 234 Pre-op: 226 CW: 213.8 GW: 155

Stall a complete week and this week

Truthfully you're doing great..that's a lot of weight you've lost within 2 months. Stalls are normal, after the stall breaks itself normally you will have dropped 5 pounds out of no where...it happened to me recently...I'm 4 months out, had 3 week stall then all of a sudden I lost like 6 pounds. So dont get discouraged the weight will continue to drop. Look how far you've come and the huge amount of inches you've lost...rejoice in the non scale victories as advised

Stall a complete week and this week

I'm 6+ weeks out. I'm dealing with bad nausea for 2 weeks now. So I've stalled for about 6 days and I'm total lost maybe 3 in ² weeks. I also had the dreaded 3 week stall for about 5-6 days. I'm annoyed because its cutting into my "honeymoon" period! But right now i! I'm having a hard time eating or drinking. But I've lost 39 pounds from my last post op visit until now (8 weeks)

    The Scale Stopped Moving

Yep. Patience and do a search for the 3 week stall. Almost every sleever has one, and the length varies. Theoretically, your body has to adjust to our reduced eating habits. But you will start losing again. In the meantime, look for the NSCs, like looser clothes and increased energy levels. good luck!! Lissa
  7. Hello everyone!! Today is my first day here. Sleeved on 12-28-15 aka my second "birthday" I have been at a stall again. I feel like the queen of 3 week stalls and by that I mean I stall every three weeks for three weeks at a time. So frustrating because I'm getting married in June and the only thing my fiancé is talking about is to have children after that. I'm not ready.... I want us to go do things and meet people and ride roller coasters and just normal skinny people things. Trying to just vent out my frustrations in a safe place. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  8. I had mine on 12/31.. I've lost about 20 lbs to this date, I've hit a 3 week stall. so.. from what I am reading.. it happens.. sucks.. but it happens.
  9. I stalled for about 3 weeks between 2-3 months out. I'm only at 10 weeks right now, but just broke that 3 week stall! Finally! I made sure to get my Protein in first and foremost, which I think really made the difference. I even went back to drinking at least 1-2 protein shakes a day to be sure I got it in! Just embrace the stall. They are upsetting and depressing even, but you will get through it. I felt the same way as you did. I know it isn't the last stall I'll experience either. You just have to take it with the rest.

    Not losing Weight

@kelly jojo First few weeks, we are usually bloated. After surgery I gained over 10 lbs due to the IV. Your body is healing and adjusting. I was told not to take my weight too seriously until I was fully healed (6 to 8 weeks). Try to be patient and stick to your program. 3 lbs a week is actually good at your weight (10.5k calories less), that's 12 lbs in a month if continues at that rate. If losing 3 lbs a week is upsetting then beware of the infamous 3-week stall where you may not lose anything for a few weeks.

Going on 3 weeks in this stupid stall

Well, I've lost 82 in 6 months. If I wasn't in a 3 week stall, I probably could have gotten there. Stupid stall....

    Stalled in first month

I keep reading about 3 week stall, maybe that's what is happening ? happy Llama sad Llama... big fat mama Llama.
  14. Haven't posted in a while. Today marks 1 month. Even with my little ER trip I'm glad I did it. But...a RANT. I haven't lost a pound in a week. I have the dreaded 3 week stall. unbelievable. What gives me comfort is that this is a "thing" but dammit only eating 300 calories a day you would think that something would be coming off but no....ARGH...other than that I feel okay...been sticking to my diet..a couple of days the fluids were low. One night I forgot my vitamin...but overall good.

    4 Weeks Post-Op

April 19, 2011 I am Officially 4 weeks post-op today (but not quite 1 month, weird how that works out sometimes...) I've got 2 more weeks of the mushy stage, I'm enjoying the food choices a lot more than during the liquid diet but Im not seeing the same dramatic weight loss. From my weigh-in last tuesday to today I have only lost 2 pounds. And the week before that it was only 3. I'm wondering if veeerrrrryyyy slooooowww weight loss is part of the infamous 3 week stall? Its a little disheartening to think I'm going to progress at such a slow rate from here on out. On to the good stuff: I feel almost no pain at this point, though soreness and fatigue have become close compatriots lately. I'm tracking my food and doing much better about getting my protein in. Atleast once a day someone comments on how good I'm looking lately I've had to get rid of a few items of clothing that have simply become 'tentlike'. I feel better/more confident about the future, my health, and what my life will look like. I've been walking but my Surgeon hasn't given me clearance for any more athletic exercise. Hopefully when I see him next week everything will look good and he will give me the go-ahead. That should kick-start things a bit! ~ Bellah
  16. I would love to hear of from some people that have started off slow losing then it all started turning around. I do not think I am talking about the 3 week stall, It is more like the feeling that you might not believe you ever are going to lose any weight. I can not even imagine it. I am almost discouraged! I am almost 4 weeks out,I started off rather well ,the first week but since then have just teetered up and down 2-3 lbs. I know I will lose, I am doing all the right things but I feel like I am the only one experiencing this, it is so frustrating. I could really use some others experiences with this. Thank you.

    Greetings from the newly sleeved!

Hi Brenda! I was sleeved on July 15th as well! I too have hit a stall this week. I'm 5'4" and highest weight was 256, 246 day of surgery and as of this morning, I am 234! I was averaging about a pound a day until this week. I guess it's the 3 week stall since tomorrow will make a full 3 weeks since surgery. I'm with you on those stomach sounds and feeling hungry! I'm doing well with fluids and Protein, though I'll admit, I'm relying on Protein shakes to finish off my protein goal if I can't meet it with soft foods. I'm excited for this journey! We will be posting before and after pics before we know it Congrats to you on your surgery and new journey!
  18. At a week out, your body is still holding onto all the fluids the surgeon pumped your stomach up with! Do not be concerned just yet. I know it's all exciting to see the lbs drop so quickly after surgery, but in reality, it's not gonna happen like that. Your body is still in shock and has no idea what you just did to it. Some people gain weight after surgery from all the fluids that are left in the body. But dont worry.... you will slowly start to release the fluids and begin to lose some pounds. But remember, you're body is in shock and this is completely normal! It happened to me and then I went into a 2, almost 3 week stall! Then one day I dropped 5lbs in one week. So, keep your chin up and keep sipping that water!

    Stall

Not exercising can certainly be a factor in why you are not losing. But so could a lot of things. some you can control and others that you can not. First verify you are getting in enough calories, Water and Protein, other wise you will not lose. Exercise certainly helps, but even with exercise without those three you will stall. Stalls also happen for no real reason other than your body needs to adjust to your new weight etc. Make sure you are measuring your body, for the 3 weeks I was in a stall I saw the inches dropping but not the weight. Whenever I stall I up my protein and within a couple days my weight tends to start dropping. It took that 3 week stall for me to figure that out. I was eating 300-400 calories a day and 50 g of protein. Now I eat 700-800 calories a day and 75g plus of protein a day. Without enough calories and protein your body will eat your muscles not the fat and the weight stalls. Dont forget your Vitamins as well. Be patient with yourself this is a long process (marathon) and not a short race. Follow the rules and you will lose that weight, but follow the rules. Do not become complacent. In the beginning it is harder (10 weeks post op and it is still hard many days) but it gets better. Remember being stationary and eating the wrong foods is what brought us here in the first place. Best of luck! You can do this!!!
  20. @@LipstickLady thanks for clarifying the 3 week stall. I have lost weight over the years and of course gained it back and I am familiar with the lose weight...stall (plateau)....lose weight....stall (plateau). I just haven't seen it move in two days and I am seeing "Taylor" more and more. I will keep trying on those tight shorts and see if I can get them up Thanks for your words of wisdom, as always you are good at pointing out the reality of our new life. The scales numbers don't really matter, just good for keeping me on track. Jane
  21. so I am looking for some info on stalls? I had what I understand is the normal: 3 week stall after 3 weeks post op which was the week of Thanksgiving. (surgery date 11/3/14). Then I loss 4 lbs in like 2 days. BUT.... there I sit. it's been 6 weeks. I weigh every day I know I shouldn't and will probably stop that at my 3 month follow up. But glad that I am for now. I will lose 2 lbs, then gain 3, lose 1 for 3 days straight and gain it back. And for days the scale just doesn't move. I was a little worried before I had the surgery that I would fall into this group of people who lost like 50 lbs and never another one and am now worried that's me. I know it's soon but 4 weeks and no progress is wearing me thin, and I wish that was literally! After about 3 weeks into this stall, I started to look at what I was eating and the lack of exercise I was enjoying (I did really well the first few weeks and then life got in the way so fell behind in my visits to the gym). Started walking morning and night, started really paying attention to Protein count and removing some bad habits I realized I'd picked up. For a full week I've watched. Still nothing. So has anyone else experienced this length of a stall? I know I am doing something wrong, I'll not blame anything but my own activities, but I am just not sure what it is. My surgeon said at my 3 week follow up that I will probably lose 20 lbs before my next one, and I was surprised by that low # (doesn't eveyone love how much falls off right after surgery?!) but wow, now? I'll be looking at the 4 lbs I lost right after that and that's it. Help?
  22. Oh, sweetie, hang in there!! We've ALL been there, one way or another. Your body is freaking out because of the new reality it finds itself in. You know for a fact that nothing you're doing is causing weight gain--your body is probably retaining fluids, and those will flush out eventually, too. Just keep doing what you can do and stay hydrated. I know when you're eating so little, you feel like the weight should just be dropping off visibly--and there will probably be weeks when it does! Just keep doing what you're doing. Sounds like your 3-week stall just happened a little bit later than some.
  23. fatBgone-Thats a great idea. Maybe I will be able to eat something then. MelissaAnd-will have to try the activia, I forgot there was some of that in the fridge. Can you ask your doctor for the pills? Mine is a pretty small pill and it goes down much better than the way too big Prilosec I was on. I haven't dealt with any big stalls yet, I am weighing a couple times a week and twice in this last week the number was the same, figured it was the 3 week stall everyone deals with but still managed to lose the next time I weighed in. I believe Im down 24 from surgery day. Hang in there, Im sure your body is still trying to adjust. This whole process has been hard!

    Frustrated and Weak

Sometimes our bodies are just in shock after the trauma of surgery. I agree, 550 could be low esp with activity. At about 1 month out I was scolded for not eating enough (about 650 calories). When I protested I couldn't "fit" anymore I was told to add high protein snacks. I worked up to 1000-1200 calories per day logging everything with 80-100g of protein exercising 5x per week and lost steady but not super fast. I had weeks I didn't lose much, maybe 1/2 pound, but no real "stalls" after the dreaded 3 week stall. Labs were always good and I lost only a little hair. Feels like I'm in a really good place for maintenance now.

    3 Week Stall

Well, I just made it through the dreaded three week stall. I knew it was happening when I was going through it (even before I weighed) because I could tell that my body hadn't changed and that my clothes were fitting the same. Against my better judgement, I weighed myself at Walmart, since I don't plan to buy a scale until close to goal, and sure enough it hadn't budged since my last weigh in a week earlier. Man was I pissed off! :tongue_smilie: Despite the fact that I had read countless stories about the 3 week stall, I was still mad for a couple of days. But, I got over it and didn't weigh again until I felt some changes in my body and saw changes with my clothes. By the end of my 4th week, I had lost an additional 2 pounds. Geesh! Couldn't it have been more than 2 lousy pounds? Oh well, at least we're back on track now. Another member on VST suggested weighing once a month. I've always advocated no more than once a week, so even for me that's a little radical. But, I think I'm going to give it a try. I'm much more interested in feeling better and seeing changes in my clothing and sizes than I am with how much I weigh. So, why stress myself out with scale numbers that don't move as fast as I want them to? I'm going to shoot for the beginning of the month for my weigh-ins and hopefully whatever loss I see then will be motivating enough. We'll see how it goes...:thumbup1:
