  1. I'm 5'1". Had no Preop diet requirement but dieted a week before. Started at 215. Was 208 day of surgery. Sleeved 5/24 so I am just over 3 weeks out. I am currently 192. I may be on my 3 week stall because I haven't lost anything for 4or5 days. I'm ok with that. I had a few bumps right after surgery. Went back to work this last week. I felt good just a little tired. Going to start going to the gym this coming Monday to help weight loss and get over the stall.

    Tjmom ... Day 3

Wednesday was 6 weeks: where did the time go....i had the 3 week stall and found another one this week.... It is frustrating, even though i know they happen, it surprises me.... Weight loss, so far: 294 day of surgery (5-2) 257 this morning. (6-16) minus 37 pounds in 6 weeks.... I have to admit, at 4 weeks, when i was ok'd for "normal" diet and i am finding this hard... I am not listening to my stomach and eat more than i should most every meal... It could be 1 bite to much, but each one of those add up...plus, with the 1 bite to much, i get nauseous .... I need your help! would you all please share with me a structured daily menu plan? Maybe a couple days worth....thank you so much... Breakfast: what and how much Lunch: what and how much Dinner: what and how much Snacks? yes or no? I am hoping if enough of you respond i can set up a diet plan for a month or more.... Either, message me here or email me at: tjmom53@yahoo.com Thank you all in advance for your help... Sandy/tjmom
  3. I wanted to add, I just went through that 3 week stall. I expected it from reading this site. I did measurements instead. I stayed at the same weight for two weeks. However, I dropped a combined 3 1/2 inches inthat time. All of a sudden this past week, no joke, I have dropped 8 pounds. So just don't keep looking at the scale. It will happen.

    3 Month Post-Op Appointment

From the beginning I have had very little difficulty getting my liquids in each day (65-80 oz) and I easily get my 80-100 grams of protein in. However, I had the 3 week stall that lasted for a week. Then at 5 weeks I was up two pounds, down two pounds, up two pounds, down a pound, down a pound, down a pound, up a 1/2 pound. It continued this way for a couple weeks. Around week #8 I received some advice via this forum that I should shake up my diet a little. I stopped eating the exact same thing every day and I changed my calorie count from day-to-day: 700, 800, 750, 850, 650, 800, etc. I also up'd my walking from one 2-mile brisk walk a day to two 2-mile brisk walks each day. Over the last couple of weeks I have been losing consistently. I know that I will stall and plateau again -- but I am not afraid of it and won't feel like I have failed when it happens. I believe what all the experts have shared -- the stalls are a process that the body goes through and other changes, besides the number on a scale, are taking place.

    No More Weightloss?

If you are anything like me, it took 50 pounds to really notice a difference. I just a got down to an 18 from a 22, and it was during a 3 WEEK STALL. No weight loss what so ever. But my pants fell off. Give it time. I went from 275 to 222 between pre-op diet and the last 7 weeks. You will see everything in your face and neck usually first. We didn't gain all of this weight in a month.. We sure aren't gonna lose it that fast.

    July 4Th Challenge

Checking in. Start of challenge- 229. Today- 222. All of that was this week. Had been on a 3 week stall. Almost halfway there now
  9. So I'm 7 weeks post op tomorrow. Down 32 pounds since surgery after a 3 week stall. I was talking to him about how I would love some chocolate... You know how our minds go. He jumps out with "I'll go get you a cookie, love". WTF? We just spent all this money on surgery and... Really? Hell yeah I want a cookie. But not gonna eat it. And he even brought it over... P.S. my husband is a tall, thin man that has always eaten whatever he wanted and never gain weight. He and my one year old are the reasons for the Cookies in the house.

    Let Me Get This Straight...

Are you worried about the 3 week stall? The key with that... expect it! It's gonna happen at some point! Stalls are completely normal and almost an essential part of our journeys. When it happens just keep drinking and working on your Protein and don't worry about the numbers. Eat what you can when you can and don't worry about the rest right now. Let your sleeve take care of you! Honestly, the stall is going to happen at some point. I don't think anyone on this forum who is more than a few months out can say they have lost every week. Congrats on being two weeks out! The hardest part is almost over!
  12. Purchase size 10 bathsuit shorts bottom today, made me forget all about my 3 week stall.

  13. I went through the infamous 3 week stall for a week but it seemed longer! I worked my booty off yesterday, stepped on that scale this morning and...hell yeah!! I broke that stall and I'm down 25 lbs since surgery 5/11!! My husband has been gone for training since before I had surgery and I'm so excited for him to see me 25 lbs lighter this Sat!!! Can't wait!!!
  14. I started at 292 and reached my goal of about 190 (based upon being in the middle of the "normal" range of body fat % for men rather than BMI,) in about seven and a half months. No real stalls, even the dreaded "3 week stall" was just a kink in the loss curve when things predictably slowed a bit - I only had one week when I didn't lose anything. I never made any attempts at keeping "low carb" (wasn't in the plan) but kept the nutrition as balanced as possible beyond the basic protein requirements - maybe this is why I never really stalled, by not totally going into glycogen depletion mode as Atkins would prefer. I am a moderately heavy exerciser, alternating swimming with strength training for an hour or so per day, 5 days a week.
  15. The rapid initial weight loss (in any weight loss effort,) comes from burning up the body's quick energy stores of glycogen (basically stored carb) before getting into burning the long term stores of fat - it typically takes a couple of weeks to get to this point. Glycogen burns at a rate of about 2000 calories per pound while fat burns at a rate of about 3500 calories per pound, so that's why your loss slows down some when you start burning the fat. Once the glycogen is burned up (typically about two pounds worth, plus about eight pounds of Water to keep it in solution,) your body needs to start burning fat to replace the glycogen, When it does that, it also needs to retain water to replace that which was lost in the initial burn, so even though you are starting to burn fat, your weight may stall as you retain water until the glycogen is topped up again - this is where the typical "3 week stall" comes from. A better treatise on this can be found at http://www.dsfacts.com/weight-loss-stall-or-plateau.html

    Grrrrrr!

I know, I know! Everyone goes through stalls and everyone posts about it..but......I'm eating 600 calories a day, doing light weights 2 times a week, but only for the last 2 weeks and getting 60 mins of cardio at least 3 times a week....and I am still at only 30 lbs lost. Actually, I just got on the scale a little bit ago and it says I gained a pound, WTH? So its only 29lbs. I am so frustrated. Even though I know its normal, its making me so discouraged. I'm making a conscious effort to eat one more meal a day since I was only eating 3 before, and still nothing. This has been going on since I was 3 weeks out. Im only a little over 6 weeks now. I lost 28lbs in 3 weeks and then 2 in 3 weeks. I barely eat any carbs, mostly chicken and cheese. The only "treat" I allow myself is frozen yogurt, but only a couple times a week. I keep waiting to pass this "3 week stall", but its not MOVING!
  17. Im preop..but everyone here talks abour the infamous 3 week stall. Just keep doing the right things and dont get frustrated. From what Ive read, ppl still lose inches even when the scale stays the same.

    Still Waiting.....

I know some of you mitte have seen my previous post on forums just thought i would rant and rave a little. I am 6 weeks post op and am doing everything as instructed by my doctors. I lost 20lbs first 2 weeks of surgery the last 4 weeks i have been at a complete stall well not stall cause i have managed to gain 6 lbs back wth!!. I have heard about the dreaded 3 week stall but this has been going on for 4 weeks, i contacted the doctors office and they could not explain why i havent lost. i take to protein as i am suppose to , eat protein first keep in mind i am still only getting about 500 calories a day, I excerice daily .The doc said even a weeks worth of food doesnt add to a pound. I really was hoping to have lost 25-30 lbs by now amd i have a BMI of 54 so i have alot more to lose. i lost 73 lbs on my own pre surgery . Has anyone heard of this ? well i am hoping that next week gets better. I only weight weekly , fingers crossed i can get threw this. I am trying to up calories as instructed by doc to 800. I love hearing people success stories just it seems like i am waiting on my own.......
  19. I know stalls are normal. I expected to have them. But I'm only 7 weeks out. I've lost 28 pounds. Nothing to frown about. But that was all in the first 4 1/2 weeks. For 2 1/2 weeks I've been stuck. Being this close out, at first I thought it was the famous "3 week stall" come a little late. But, alas, no movement. Now, I work out 4 to 5 days a week. Both cardio and weight training. Wanted to tone to minimize loose skin while I dropped. I burn at least 700 calories during workouts. I eat only Protein... Ie: chicken breast, shrimp, eggs, turkey, and Protein shakes. I make my shakes with light silk for added protein and some extra calories. So now I'm up to about 600 calories give or take, no more than 20 carbs, no more than 20 grams of fat, and usually about 70 grams of protein. My calories when this started was 400 or less. This started when I was still on full liquids. If anyone can think of something to push me out of this, let me know. I'm at a loss.
  20. So I hit the 3 week stall (I hit it a little early) but the scale finally moved today. It will be one month tomorrow and from the beginning of the process I am now down 35lbs. Current weight: 259! So amazing from 294. But my real happiness had come from the fact I have started having people say (that do not know I had the surgery) how great I look and, wow, you have lost weight, you look great. My biggest compliment of all came from my Mom yesterday. She said, "holy chow your losing your boobs!" (I wear a DDD and it is getting quite big on me) also, I am wearing clothes I haven't worn in years. I am so grateful to my sleeve!

    May Sleeve Buddies!

My Surgery may 14th starting weight 272. I had a 3 week stall but I weighed today and 23 down. So hopefully I've broke my stall.
  22. Did great the first six months, now haven't lost anything the past 2 months, just losing and gaining the same 2 pounds. I am so not looking forward to my next appt. with my surgeon on June 22. I am so embarrased that I may not even have lost a pound by then. Everyone talks about the 3 week stall and the 3 month stall. Anybody experience a stall in the later months? Help! Ducker

    Stalled At 3 Weeks?

This is the famous 3-week stall. My surgeon and NUT told me to expect it. Do a search on this forum and you'll come up with all kinds of posts. I had what I would call a mini-stall - only lost a pound (barely), but this week I lost 4 pounds.

My Life At 2 Years Out

The honeymoon phase is the first 3 to 6 months after surgery where people by and large experience the fastest part of their weight loss. The first month tends to be fairly good weight loss and then there is the transition from liquids to mushies (most have the 3 week stall when they transition to food because your body is adjusting to the change), but the it usually picks back up because at that point you should be able to incorporate some form of exercise into your routine to help facilitate your weight loss. But basically, its' the first 3 to 6 months after surgery. I hope that helps.

    May Sleeve Buddies!

Think I am hitting the dreaded 3 week stall. Any early May sleevers gone through it yet? How long does it last on average? I am going to do some measurements soon and see if I am at least losing inches, trying to stay positive and not let it get to my head.
