I'm right there with you. I didn't experience the typical 3 week stall and felt pretty lucky. But now at 3 months out, my scale hasn't moved in almost 3 weeks. I'm trying to be patient...but it is frustrating.

Here are my numbers so far: 1/18 DOS 179 Week #1 171 (-8) Week #2 167.4 (-3.6) 11.6 total Week #3 165.8 (-1.6) 13.2 total So only a 1.6 lb loss for the week. I told myself before surgery that I would be fine when I stall and/or the weightloss slows down. I have to admit, this has been very hard. I am doing well from the standpoint of getting all of my protein and fluids in. My calorie intake is between 450-700 calories a day, but being on liquids for 3 full weeks is tough! I am not "hungry" but I'm not satisfied either. My energy level is pretty low too. I can't believe I only lost 1.6 lbs this week. What's crazy is the last 2 days I was at 165.4 and this morning I woke up .4 lbs heavier. Seriously? I hope I don't hit the dreaded 3 week stall on top of this. Ugh. I also worked out 3 times this week doing cardio. This is crazy. My original hope was to drop 15 lbs in the first month and then hopefully 6-10 lbs per month after that. Now I'm thinking that may be unrealistic. Last week, I would have said I am definitely on track to lose 15 lbs my first month. Now, I'm not so sure. Each week that weight loss has slowed down to about half of what it was the week before. If the trend holds, I won't make it. Hopefully, that trend will break this week. We'll see. I think all my past yo-yo dieting has really screwed with my metabolism.

how come im not losing?!?!
fern replied to meggspeggs's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
First- breathe!!! Everything is okay. Your body has just been through major surgery and it's holding on to everything while you heal. They pump you full of liquid during surgery too, so you may or may not have shed that yet. Do a search on the 3 week stall. You'll get more info from that. You probably just hit it early. Please don't fret. All will be good : ) -
Rate of Weight Loss
TakingABreak replied to mitchjoann132010's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I lost 24 lbs in the pre op diet (if I recall correctly) and I had a stall after the first week of surgery that lasted almost a week. Basically, I had the 3 week stall early. Our bodies are trying to process the trauma, compounded with eating substantially less than it's used to. I wouldn't worry about your loss as being slow. You are on the lower weight side, and people with lower BMIs tend to loose slower. But not to worry, they average the same loss in the end. Remember is not about how fast you run the race, but rather that you cross the finish line! -
Three week stall one week after surgery?
Ivanova8 posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My surgery was 10 days ago. I seem to be stuck at the same weight for the past 3 days. I was wondering if the weight I lost on the 2 week Opti-fast liquid diet plus the weight lost during my first week home would make for a 3 week stall. Has anyone experienced this so early after surgery? I know it's still early but could use some encouragement. And I want to make sure I'm not doing anything wrong. I'm eating between 500 - 650 calories a day. I've so far not experienced dumping. I even had 1/2 cup of pureed split pea Soup last night for dinner. The only thing different so far is that my pouch doesn't like cold Water. It definitely has to be room temperature. -
April 8th will be 3 weeks post op for me. Since last week I've hit a stall and I'm not losing weight. I've lost a total of 28 pounds since surgery but I'm discouraged that it's stopped. I know stalls are going to happen but I worry that it's my fault. I'm eating approx 650 calories a day. Trying to get all my protein in but not sure I always do. I guess I'm just looking for someone who had this experience and what I can do to help start the weight loss again.

Revisionista Alert - Long Term Results
free4life replied to CowgirlJane's topic in Revision Weight Loss Surgery Forums (NEW!)
After my revision surgery, Dr. Elmo (assistant to Dr. Rod, my mexican band doctor and revision doctor) spoke to me about the bad habits acquired with the lap band. I am still on mushies at this point (3 weeks) and I really haven't had a strong desire to go back to the bad habits. I have tried some ice cream (last night) from Sonic as I was dying for something sweet. Well, I had just a little bit of a sundae and that was it. I could not tolerate anymore. It was enough to satisfy a craving but it seems that body does not really want too much of a rich thing. I'm happy to report that as of today, my weightloss has been about 17.5 lbs. since my surgery 3 weeks ago today. I went this past week without losing anything and after reading a post on here about the 3 week stall, I relaxed a bit, and today .5 was gone! I may need to add a Protein shake every day or something as I really don't think I'm eating enough but I'm not that hungry. I'm satsified with very little. This a.m. had some cottage cheese and a bit of protein Jello mixed with it. Been trying to walk daily and be more active. I think we are all different and must look at the sleeve as a new start. I am so happy that I will not have trouble with chicken or vegetables anymore like Amazon 13 posted. I got frustrated with my band (even empty I had restriction depending on weather, tom, time of year, stress) and was tired of throwing up. So, I would eat a lot of ice cream, shakes and just plain JUNK. I had to really do some soul searching as in a few months I had gained 25 lbs. due to eating out of depression, etc. I am seeking out a good counselor and ready to get to my goal in the next year. The band failed me, but I also failed the band in some ways, too. I paid out of pocket, traveled back to Mexico to have the band out and do the sleeve. Failure is NOT an option. But, it will be my choices that lead to success! -
Will I Ever Lose This Weight?
Piplula replied to tabbymonroe's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I just went through a 3 week stall Tabs. It was my first one...I had a way bigger BMI than yours.. I just now started back going downward..in fact the scale fluctuated up and down a pound or two for that 3 weeks and I was like.."Wth"...so I kept the course..exercise..eating correctly...and sure enough ...it's coming down again...hang in there...I think it's just the process our bodies have to get through to release the extra weight...very frustrating yea..but it will come off. -
3 weeks post op - static weight
Crystal CW replied to Memar's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
My 3 week stall happens to coincide with my menstrual cycle - oh joy 😕 -
Im two and a half months post revision and im very happy. I had the horrible lap band over 7 years - and it did nothing but make me sick, depressed and unhappy. Now i actually get to feel what full is and not that horrible chocking - something stuck on my throat- feeling. I never felt full before and was always hungry before the revision. Now i do feel hungry but im so easily satisfied that its great. The weight loss is good- 50 pounds so far- including a 3 week stall. I just wish i had done it earlier Good luck to you on your new journey! !

9 weeks out- Stalled and panicking.
catwoman7 replied to Fazzini Bee's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
you're the billionth person to hit that early stall. almost all of us get that. It's called the 3 week stall, but it can happen anywhere within the first 4-6 weeks of surgery. Just stick to your plan and it'll eventually break -
Weight loss stall of 10 days
3sonsitk replied to jinnjuice527's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Embrace the stall.. I just broke a 3 week stall this morning. Did absolutely nothing different. It will pass. -
VSG family I need help/advice. I was sleeved on the 28th of January and from my last pre op visit on the 22nd until today I've gone from 399 to 368 which is good I know but every day for the last week and a half my weight ranges between 366 and 369. Am I in the 3 week stall or what? I met with my nutritionist yesterday because I'm not getting enough fluids in and that has to improve or I can make myself sick. I feel fine for the most part not in major pain just don't have to much energy. What can I do to get the scale to move?
-
Yes, it's called the 3-week stall but it happened to me at 2 weeks also. Your body just went thru so much and it's adjusting. Just keep drinking water and getting in your protein and walking whenever you can--your body will catch up!
-
Lolly...you are also due for your first stall (the dreaded 3 week stall). I think pretty much all of us had that in some form. So you may be in that. Just stick to what you're supposed to be doing and you'll be fine. Good luck!

Today begins week 3 of my stall. I spent the last 4 days actively eating above my typical calories and carbs and moving less in an attempt to break the stall. It didn't work. I'm going back to moving more and eating my 650 to 800 calories per day and praying that this is, in fact, a stall and not maintenance already. I "embraced the stall" for the first two weeks. I'm having a really rough time with this and I'm sad and scared because a 3 week stall sounds a lot like maintenance to me. I have 35 pounds to goal (healthy BMI) and I don't want to be right back where I was 6 months ago, unable to lose no matter what.

Can't shake the feeling that I will stop losing weight any minute...and I am 2 weeks post op today!
IveGotThePower replied to Snoozy33's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I agree with the two posts above. I am sorry to hear of your Mother's passing. For what it's worth, when I have gone through a very stressful time, I try to pamper myself a little more to de stress. Have a facial, massage, mani/pedi. Just to relax and refocus. The weight will come off. Just follow the rules. I just had a 3 week stall, then 4 lbs in 2 days. I've said this before, but sometimes I feel like it is a stare off between me sticking to the rules and my endocrine system giving up a lb or two. Stay the course. I and a lot of people also did the 3 week stall. While eating 800 or less calories I did not loose a single pound for 20 days. Be patient. If you follow the rules and create healthy habits, you will do great! Don't forget that a nutritionist can be very helpful. I still see mine every month or two just to stay on track. You can do this! -

Should I be proud or?
*Lexie* replied to BobbieVSG's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I've lost 31lbs in 12 weeks so I'm right there with you. Once I got past my 3 week stall, I have consistently lost 1-3 pounds a week so I've made peace with it. It really bothered me at first but it's not doing me any good to be constantly frustrated. My doctor said they expect me to lose 4-6 pounds a month and I'm exceeding that goal right now. -
I expected the 3 week stall but it is still playing mind games on me.. I feel so weak and tired to the point my doctor gave me another week off from work.. So dealing with the stall, feeling weak and no work is kinda messing with me.

So Is This The 3Rd Week Stall?
Lauranbob Mc replied to BABEwiththePOWER's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have been in the infamous 3 week stall now for the past 2 weeks. I know I shoulldnt complain since I have lost so much weight in the beginning. but 2 weeks and now 1 pound lost. I eat between 600-800 calories per day 60-80G of protein less than 35% carbs and less than 22% in fat intake. I know I am not exercising enough but I still try to do something everyday even if it is walking a mile. I am very frustrated right now.
