CBT if the scale hasn't moved in 2-3 weeks, you are probably at a stall - that doesn't mean you will be slowing down in your weight loss At about 6 months out I told my DH I never had a stall, DH told me not to jinx myself sure enough with in a few days I had about a 3 week stall. never again - oh no - did i jinx myself again best kathy

Ok... almost every post I've read someone says the scale stalls around week three. Guess what .... week four for me and the scale hasn't moved for three days! Still sticking to liquids. Any idea why this happens?

Am I Losing Enough?
Sleeved&Hopeful replied to HondaCivicDude's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Make sure you're not eating and drinking at the same time. Someone of your size should probably not only be eating 600-800 calories a day. You should be fine eating between 1000-1300 in my opinion. Your body is still burning a lot more calories just breathing than someone 200 lbs and you are also male...and men require more calories. . Don't forget about the famous "3 week stall". You are only 6 weeks out and most people hit a wall at 3 weeks out that lasts a few weeks and the weight just stalls and then kicks back in again. Trust me you are going to lose a ton of weight. Even if you can't work out a lot, try to at least get a walk in once a day. Seriously, even if it's just walking around your HOUSE. Any extra movement helps. Best wishes! -
Just remember the most important rule about having WLS (in my opinion): Everyone loses differently. Everyone loses at a different pace, men tend to lose faster than women (just ask my wife!) and everyone's journey is not the same! It is different. You've lost 58 pounds since your surgery (at 4 months out!) and you're down to 204! That is awesome! As for not losing for a couple of weeks, stalls are normal. My wife had a 3 week stall and then started losing again. Don't be hard on yourself, and don't compare how you're doing to others. Best advice I can give you at this moment. But you are doing great! Keep it up! Eric

5 Weeks Out Of Surgery....stalling Already
Wheetsin replied to carriecat's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Use the board's search function and put in terms like "3 week stall". This is something that virtually everyone goes through. It can hit 2 - 5 weeks out, usually in weeks 3 or 4. At week 3 I stalled for about 10 weeks. BTW, one week with no loss isn't really a stall. That's a misnomer. It would be much more accurate to call it "an equilibrium period". It's your body doing what it is supposed to do. -
5 Weeks Out Of Surgery....stalling Already
former_vbg replied to carriecat's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Relax..... stalls are part of the process, ESPECIALLY this early in your journey. I'm surprised you didn't have the traditional "3 week stall". Your body has to catch up with itself. Remember, you just went through MAJOR surgery. There are only a handful of people I have seen post on this board that had a continued weight loss their entire journey and even fewer who had rapid weight loss during their entire journey. Just keep doing what your doing. It sounds like you are just fine with Protein, protein, protein, drinking your Water or other no calorie/ sugar free drinks. Others have made suggestions to take measurements of yourself because while the scale may not be moving, your body is likely still changing!!!! -
Who got in 70g of protein today? THIS GIRL! Who got in 60oz of water today? THIS GIRL! Who KILLED their teacher demonstration today and had offers from all 4 principals? THIS GIRLLLLL! Today has been a great day! Even though I do believe I may be at the horrid 3 week stall, nothing is stopping my happiness today. I'm going out for a drink....of water! Lol

9 Weeks Out
kellythestarr replied to kellythestarr's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I didn't get the 3 week stall either. I live in La and it is HOTT and HUMID right now, and I haven't been getting enough water in probably. My goal is to refocus on my sleeve, I've kinda been wrapped up with other things. Wish me luck! -
Stress, heat, lots of things can contribute to a stall. Not getting enough Water in. I didn't get the 3 week stall and on Monday it will be 5 weeks and I'm having a little stall.
-
I've been very nauseous the last few days and vomit after eating very little. Even water now is making me nauseous and I already struggle with getting in all my protein and water at 5 weeks post op. I'm not sick (I feel great) and I'm not complaining either but I would love to keep some food down. I'm in a 3 week stall and want to lose the weight in a healthy manner. Anything OTC that has worked for others? I hate that I can't have a nice cold ginger ale!

3 Weeks Post-Op - Foamies/bubble In Chest? Anytime I Eat Or Drink
boots321 replied to blondeej's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I also hit the 3 week stall and it lasted just under a week... -
Having a bout of no loss at your point is completely normal. You just wait it out. There are stall-busters, but those are for "real" stalls. What you're going through is most likely just a glycogen cycle. Look up "3 week stall". Should be more than enough info.

Wt Loss Not What Expected! What Am I Doing Wrong?
BenisaMartim4 replied to innerme's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You're not doing anything wrong. The shock of surgery can cause you to retain and even gain weight. I gained 10# in the hospital. It took me awhile to get that back off. Then I went through the 3 week stall. It was a little while before I got the ball to rolling, but after I did it for sure gathered no moss. Just have patience. Every-one's journey is different. YOU WILL LOSE!! Best wishes :0) -
Stand Still & No Loss
Star1221 replied to courtney333's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Everyone is different with weight loss. I learned early not to compare myself to others. There are lots of factors. The pre op diet, amount of weight they have to lose, when their foods change. I went into a 3 week stall when I was allowed to actually eat...(I was a liquids for 5 weeks. One week clear, 4 weeks full). I'm 10 weeks out Thursday and down 42 pounds. Yes there are some who are down 60 plus, but this is my journey. I'm enjoying it in my own way. Down from a 22 to a loose 16... So happy. Enjoy it. You learn a lot about yourself -

How Can My Loss Be Slowing So Soon?
Ms skinniness replied to CHELL's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Can you give us a picture of what your eating, how much, fluid intake, exercise routine? this would help immensely. You might of just had the cursive 3 week stall. Can't wait to get this info. Wish I could help more at this moment, but will after info. -
So when everyone talks about the dreaded 3 week stall how are we to look at it? Do you stall around 3 weeks post op? Or do you stall for 3 weeks? I have stalled for around 3 weeks now and am hoping to start losing again, I also started this stall around 2-3 weeks post op.

Hormones And Emotions
titania1215 replied to Amanda41's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am 3 1/2 months out and yes it does happen. This whole week I have been super emotional. I had a 3 week stall and then dropped 10 pds in 2weeks so I think that has a lot to do with it. It will pass I promise...and even with the emotional rollercoasters I am soooooo happy with my decision!! -
Does Anyone Else Feel This Way?
Star1221 replied to leighx's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
As long as you follow the plan, it will work. We all just have to make sure we don't fall into the same pattern we were in before. The only advice that has echoed in my head is: Remember, you didn't gain it all super fast, don't expect to lose it super fast. There's gonna be stalls. There's going to be moments when you ask yourself if you're doing it right. Just keep going. You guys will all be fine. 55 pounds off in 2 months. And that's with a 3 week stall. Good luck. -
8 Weeks Out - Slow Scale Movement!
BABEwiththePOWER posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I know we're not supposed to compare our weightloss to one another's, but I can't help but feel like a 35lb loss since my surgery on April 19th, isn't really stellar. I had hoped, based on what I'd seen others go through, to be down by about 50 by now. I know I'm losing inches, but silly me, I forgot to measure myself on the day of surgery... but I was a 20/22 the day of surgery, and I just bought a 14 dress on Friday that fits great. That's a big deal, I know, but for some reason, I can't Celebrate without that reaffirmation from the scale. I did hit a 3 week stall around week 4, and then it picked up again, slowly, but at least started losing again. I need to get to the gym more, but with 2 kiddos under 4 at home, it doesn't come too easily. I can probably also do better with the calorie counting. The last week or two I stopped tracking my calories, but I also really don't eat much. I make sure to take all my Vitamins, get my Water and Protein in, but after that, I just take a couple bites at each meal. Maybe I should start tracking again, but I read a post a while back that has really stuck in my brain - it talked about how the poster lost weight with VSG, but slowly- because they ate whatever they wanted, just less of it. This was to avoid the "diet mentality" and the aftermath of what happens when the dieting/deprivation phase ends. I really think all of my past failures with diets were for that reason exactly. I would be all crazy for a week or two, then quit because it was too drastic, and not just a simple lifestyle choice. I know we should take advantage of the first six months post op because we have the opportunity to lose the most weight then, and I don't want to fail, but I'm at a loss for how to feel right now. Sorry, long post, just needed to vent I guess.
