Hey Jardenia,
So far the pre-op hasn't been too bad. It is pretty amazing that once I got the sugar and carbs out of my system how my hunger or should I say apatite diminished.
As I said I have been researching for years and have learned so much along the way. There is another lap band group that I belong to and really enjoy. It is smartbandsters@yahoo.com. I have also found that everything that is on these boards is not necessarily golden so confirm your facts. There is a very helpful and informative book written by Jessie Ahronni.(sp) She is a lap band nurse and has had her band for ten years so she knows her stuff. I got the book on Amazon. The title is Laparoscopic Adjustable Gastric Banding: Achieving Permanant Weight Loss with Minimally Invasive Surgery.
I have had all of my pre-op testing and am counting the days. We are going to spend the night in Richmond on Wednesday the night before surgery and Thursday night the night of surgery. We live beween and hour and an hour and a half away so the Doc said I should stay close the first night since I am a "Drive Thru."
Hope your insurance will cover everything for you and won't require that you jump thru many hoops.
I have done some pics but will wait till there is a decernable difference to post them. I am trying to put my pic on my profile but haven't been able to figure out how to do it yet.
Keep me posted on your progress. Good luck!

Hi tamana ~ I went to that site yesterday (after I sent it to you) and it wasn't very helpful ... sorry! I was looking to see if I could buy them online but their site doesn't sell directly, they didn't even show all the different flavors. I'm still looking though, there has to be some site out there that sells them ...
What part of California are you in? I am in SoCali (in the Inland Empire)
As far as my band journey ... I'd have to say the first 6 months or so were a breeze. I was a tad bit frustrated in the very first month after banding, I had only lost like 15 lbs while everyone else was losing way more but then the loss started picking up. I was very strict with myself. I planned my meals out, I bought a food scale to weigh my foods so I know EXACTLY what's going in and I keep track of my daily intake at thedailyplate.com ... I've kept to mainly a high protein / low carb diet since banding. Of course I've had my off days, and there was a period of time that I slipped back into old habits (like buying a package of cookies and eating the ENTIRE package in 1 day!) but after that incident I said to myself "what the heck are you doing??" and I realized I needed a fill and needed to get back on the "bandwagon" ... My weightloss started slowing down back in February, they say the closer you get to goal, the slower the loss will be.
I have a 4cc band with 2.6cc filled ... I often say my band has a mind of it's own as some days I can eat certain foods (or too much) and the next day I can't eat anything. I know stress can affect the band, when I'm stressed my band tightens up.
If you feel you can eat too much, I'd definitely talk to the doc and see if perhaps you could use a slight fill ... even 1/2 of a cc can make a huge difference! =)

Hey Donna! Thanks for checking on me. I've just been super busy with Christmas coming up and haven't been online much. I haven't been doing so hot on weight loss lately. As soon as Christmas is over, it's back to the gym...pronto. Thanks again for checking on me. Talk to you later.

I haven't gone anywhere in the snow. I'm in Monroe and we have 14 inches of snow at my house. My husband has been taking my jeep so he can get to work. He works right off of 128th & I-5 at Comcast up the hill. I had to cancel my interview- but it was ok because she didn't make it into the office either. Their office is in Northgate- but the job opening is for a clinic in Monroe- Temp job while someone is out.
I can't wait for the first fill.
What type of work do you do? I worked at Children's for 8 years and was let go in May by a bully supervisor. I talked with a lawyer and they said Washington is an at will state. They can fire someone for the color of your hair. Unemployement has been good and they just extened it another 20 weeks. Just not as much money coming in. Christmas will be tight this year. But at least it will be white. lol
Snow has even made it worse. Today is payday and I can't get anywhere. lol Maybe thats a good thing.

Hey girl, Thanks for the friendship request! How is your weight loss journey going so far.
-
No, nothing was posted about you, it's just I hadn't seen any postings from you on any of her threads lately so I was just reaching unwarranted conclusions. I find your postings so uplifting I missed them. Sorry to hear you've hit the wall with the weight loss but steady wins the race in the end so come on back.

Wow April 11 pounds since surgery. I haven't lost anything. I have been so bloated and I have only been doing liquids as well. I want to start working out but I want to wait till after the three weeks is up. I want to give my body a change to heal. Yesterday at work I was in pain at the port site so I had to take some pain meds. Today is 9 days out.
Congrats on the weight loss to date. You must be doing this thing right.

Running really is fun and I'm amazed how many people I'm meeting that I would have never considered talking to if it weren't for the running. I am starting to see my weight loss slow a little bit. But, I'm ok with that, as long as it doens't stop!

Just saw your blog, can't wait until I can start running. Really looking forward to it! Congratz on your great loss so far!! Apparently I am a slower loser.

Hello, just it does feel great to loose eventhought it is not a huge amount, but the doctor says it is very to have a slow and constant weigt loss than a big lost and then no lost for a while specially since I have not had a fill yet. For the lapband check ups you got to go to Oliak's office eventhought you might not see Oliak, you might get to see his assistant Allison, who is great by the way, she is also in the surgery team. And either Allison or Dr. Oliak will do the fills, unless for some weird reason they cannot find your port site then You have to go get it done under some kind of xray procedure.

Hey Kim,
I had the lapband on August 28 in University of Penn with Dr. Matthew Kirkland I have lost 50 so far and hope to reach my goal of 170 total loss. I feel great and have had no adverse affects. I go next month for a fill right before xmas. We have support meetings once a month so I go there. I have a friend that is at the New Beginnings Program. She is doing well too. Keep in touch, OK.
