Candle, I was told not to put anything on my incisions. The doc did take off all my steri-strips at my week visit. She said that baby oil will take off the stickiness. She just said to make sure to do it right before showering or the baby oil will seap into the wounds. I was given the o.k. to add cheese, eggs, cottage cheese, yogurt, and mashed potatoes to my list of foods. Warning about eggs! I took one egg and scrambled it with a slice of cheese. I chewed it thoroughly and by the time I ate half of it... I was very sick. I found out what getting food stuck is like and the wonderful thing they call sliming! Not fun!!! I finally had to throw it up because I was heaving a lot anyway. I figured it would do less damage to just get it out. I know TMI. But I just wanted to warn you. Other than that, I feel great. I love getting full so fast!

4th of July - WHAT WILL YOU WEIGH???
klus263 replied to LilMissDiva Irene's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Nothing new to report as the dreaded stall has happened again . But I will prevail. I am really watching the carbs again and trying to up the water. Still need to work more veggies in the diet but I cannot seem to digest lettuce at this time (TMI) so will have to look at other ways. Keep up the good work, Everyone! -
That's great, Michelle! I saw my surgeon today, too, and was advanced to soft foods My first meal was tuna salad. It tasted great! I might try refried Beans tomorrow! Possible TMI- I'm suffering from horrible constipation. I've tried colace, which works a little, but I think I'm going to get some Miralax tomorrow. It's really putting a damper on my recovery! Also, I only lost 6 lbs. these past 2 weeks. I'm feeling a little down about that. Seems others are losing more. I'm trying not to obsess about it, though. It will come off when it's ready, I guess....

May 28-31st Sleeve Week!
navywife21 replied to lylabelle's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi everyone.. I was sleeved on May 6th and I'm doing pretty good. I can't drink protein shakes cause it goes in and right out the other (sorry TMI) but it happens until your body adjust to everything. So I'm stuck eating chicken and fish already to get my proteins and doing well...I do have an issue that I have asked my doctor about some nerve pain right at my belly button area. It is like a burning pinching pain when I laugh or move wrong. Just wondering if anyone else had this.. -
New sleevers how are you doing
loveszane replied to Joymarie333's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Up in the middle of the night with gas pains had surgery on the 10th I finally passed gas (sorry If tmi) only kept belching prior. I'm getting through it seen everyone complain about gas pain was lucky until now -
Hi Blessed, My RNY was also on 3/29. I've definitely had my struggles and still do! I started on Pureed foods a few days ago. The first few days were rough! I think I was so excited to start on them that I overdid it a couple times. Pretty sick after that. Felt faint-ish, weak, racing heart, VERY nauseous. Luckily both times were around bed time, so I laid down and after a while subsided and I finally slept. I have given up the protein shakes as even to LOOK at them makes me feel like vomiting. VERY strong aversion to them now. I bought the Vital Proteins Collagen Peptide powder someone on here (sorry I can't remember who!) that has 18 grams of protein in 2 tbsp and luckily blends really well, especially in hot things like my coffee, so I start with that every morning. I have no appetite and have to go by when I start feeling weak to make myself eat. I'm sensitive to almost all artificial sweeteners so haven't been able to tolerate sugar free things. How about you? Went shopping with the hubby yesterday and bought most of the things recommended by the fabulous people on here to puree. Great ideas. I'll try the white fish (we bought cod) tonight with thinned mashed potatoes. I was feeling nauseated yesterday after eating egg salad, so a couple hours later I was naughty and ate 3 saltine crackers very slowly which really seemed to help. I don't know about anyone else, but after I eat something, the thought of eating it again makes me ill. Did anyone else have trouble with that? Going back to work has been tough. 10-11 hour days. I work in a very busy vet clinic, so trying to get in "snacks" has been difficult and I end up feeling crappy, weak, brain fog until I get to lunch. The last couple days getting in my water while I'm there has been tough too. Everyone I work with is awesome and would allow me the chance to get a snack, but it takes so long to eat it that I feel guilty for having to step away for a bit to do that, especially since we've been short-handed. I just need to do it, though. Next thing here is totally TMI, so skip if you don't wanna know. I've had a b/m almost daily, but never a complete one. They are very pasty and don't seem to want to evacuate my body well (LOL). I did start eating Activia with protein powder in it to see if that will help. Miralax and Dulcolax does NADA for me. Any other recommendations? My left side still has some pain- almost gas-like. I've taken the chewable Gas-x which doesn't do much either. I definitely don't like my bra sitting on top of where my stomach is, so off it goes at all times when I'm at home! Weird thing is that my hot flashes have seemed to return with a vengeance which a year before surgery had finally stopped. Bummer. Anyone else struggling with this? I've been working with my shrink regarding my meds. We've had to adjust things a couple times already. I can't take Gabapentin at bed time anymore- makes me so dizzy. Also switching from Zoloft to Lamotrigine. I used to take all my meds at once in one big swallow. Can't do THAT anymore, so slowly it goes, which frustrates me a bit. The good thing is that overall I'm doing pretty good. I'm only weighing myself once a week, so Wed. I'll reweigh myself. My body is totally changing tho! I still don't have a lot of energy, but hopefully that will improve over time. Some days are better than others. I did take some "before" pictures (but can't figure out how to edit out my boobs so will be for my eyes only!), just to help me see my progress if the scales don't show a loss. Clothes are much looser already tho! Ok, sorry to ramble so long. I threw a lot out there, but that's kinda how I am. It soooo helps to know if others are going or have gone thru these same things! I look forward to and love the feedback. I hope you and everyone else are doing well!

Sorry if this is TMI - anyone else have trouble going enough after surgery? I remember in the hospital that it took quite a while once I went in to the restroom (I didn't have a catheter) and I just sort of figured it was due to the anesthesia. Additionally, I ended up passing a 4mm kidney stone 48 hours after RNY and then another 4mm about 6 days after RNY. I have ongoing kidney stone issues, so that didn't surprise me necessarily but my concern is that I just don't seem to be able to go that much. I am getting in 50ish ounces (including Protein shakes) which I know isn't enough long term, but only drinking 1 oz every 15 minutes makes it tough to drink a lot more. I am 8 days post op now and just able to drink about twice that but still not having a lot of output. My first post-op appt is Tuesday so I can ask then if it is normal. Just thought I would ask if anyone else has had issues or if maybe I need to call my urologist on Monday.

Not really sure where to start. I want to document my journey and become a part of this community. So I guess I'll start with what brought me here. I have been large my entire life. I have very few pictures from my childhood where I thought I was normal size. I'd say that stopped by the time I reached first or second grade. I'm 35 years old now. I topped out at 360lbs in 2011. Until that point, I had not kept up with my health at all. No yearly doctor visits, I hadn't even seen an OBGYN since 1999 when my daughter was born. An occasional trip to the urgent care center for a horrible migraine that I couldn't get rid of would always result in my promising to see my PCP (didn't even have one) and taking care of my HBP. My breakdown came in 2012. I had always had unpredictable monthly cycles, but this one was off the charts! (TMI warning) I bled for a straight 4 months with no breaks! I finally had to break down and find an OBGYN to see. A month of trying different drugs stopped it for a few days, but it came back with a vengeance, ultimately leading to a D&C to reset my body. This scared me. I found a PCP and started to try and get myself together. I was lucky to find a PCP that I love on the first try. I would have given up if I'd had to "shop" for a doctor. So we got my BP stabilized with meds, I started on cholesterol meds as well and added in an antidepressant to help me through this. After more testing, she warned me that I was on the diabetic borderline. We started talking weight loss & she suggested phentermine. I started it and loved it! the weight was coming off, slowly, but surely. I did 3-4 months on and 1-2 months off. Things were looking up. I got down to about 320 or so, and I thought I was doing great. Then I decided I could do it on my own - without the phentermine. I seemed to be building a tolerance to it anyway, so I stopped taking it. Yeah, that didn't work out too well. I gained back every single pound! Not to mention, in the interim, I had a heart scare (another long story) that now prevents me from having the phentermine option again. So now, here I am. I'm at 333lbs. I finally had the courage to ask my PCP about surgical options. She was happy that I asked. She thought it was the right option for me, but was not going to push it. (I had mentioned it before & we decided to try phentermine first) I've been to the info session & have an appointment on the 28th for my first surgical consultation. It's been a few weeks since the info session & I'm trying to experiment with upping my protein, downing my carbs, etc. I even tried my first protein shake today...UGH, that's gonna be tough! Right now, I have a lot of confidence in my ability to get this done - with the help of a surgical tool. I'm excited at the thought of getting down to a size that I have literally never been before! I'm excited at the thought of cleaning my closet out because everything is too big! I'm excited to be able to walk for more than 10 minutes without pain. I'm excited to be able to ride bikes with my daughter - something she always wants to do, but I can barely make it down our street before feeling like I have to turn around, or I won't make it back home. I've been reading so many success stories in this and other forums and I want to be there too! Oh, and I can't forget! While it might not be good news that my husband was put on insulin this week for his diabetes, it's great news that he has decide to "seriously consider" having surgery as well because of it. I certainly hope he does. It would be great to have each other to lean on and to actually know what the other is going through. It will be a different journey for him - I think he leans more towards a lap-band procedure, while I am pretty much convinced I want to do the sleeve - but we could take this journey together. I sure hope he goes all in! I'm ready to start my journey. I hope that I will find friends here to support me along the way. I look forward to being able to learn and experience all that comes with WLS so that I can share my knowledge in the future to those who are just starting out. I'm ready for a healthier me. I'm ready to be a healthier wife & mom. I want to LIVE - not watch my life go by as only a spectator. I guess that means it's time for a change. Let's get this party started!

Of course my feelings are hurt, and I feel like its all me. He's the type of person that thinks he's just fine and never the problem so I agree with the testosterone check. Tmi...I know!

I have been dizzy too. I'm not sure why. I've gotten between 85-90 grams of protein in everyday since Thursday. It's odd though, when I go more than about 3-4 hours between protein, I get nauseous and weak feeling. My blood sugars are still not coming down yet, that's frustrating! I guess I expected to be feeling much better than I am by now; I still have very little energy! Ugh! Oh and TMI, I know, but I have this horrid smell coming from me! I'm wondering if I'm in ketosis, but I can't seem to bathe enough or brush my teeth enough and it doesn't want to go away... yuck! Sorry, but I can't handle odors well, specially when they're coming from me and I know I'm a clean person!

I have my surgery date and by my calculations, it will likely be "that time of the month." It's making me nervous. Did anyone experience this at the time of their surgery? I have my final pre-op appointment with the doctor in a couple of weeks and plan on bringing it up, but I don't wan to sound silly.

Not even 6 weeks post op-Gaining weight?
ssflbelle replied to ssflbelle's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thanks everyone for your input, that is why I love this site so much. I went for bike ride came back and saw all these replies. So let me start by saying yes I agree that my Protein and calories are low but every time I eaten food this week and for the past 3 weeks I experienced pain under my left breast. That pain is why I am still drinking a Protein shake or protein hot chocolate in the morning, even though my Dr told me to stop the liquid Protein. This morning I had Think Thin protein oatmeal and within 4 small bites I had pain. I read the paper and 15 minutes later went back to it and was able to finish the cup. My Dr says I should be done eating in 20 minutes and only eat 3 times a day. It took me about 7 minutes to eat those 4 bites, waited 15 minutes that is 22 minutes and it took another 20 minutes after that to finish the rest of the cup. If I had stopped at the 20 minute mark I would have only had the 4 bites. To eat all that food which is only 1.76 oz till you mix it with Water (not sure how much that makes) in 20 minutes I can't do it. I always was a slow eater. Questions So do I blow off his 20 minutes and just keep eating with the breaks in between?Do I keep to the 3 times a day or just blow that off too and eat more often? Next Sodium I went back and looked at the sodium here is what I found Sunday 1,395 Monday 1.611 Tuesday 1,347 Wednesday 739 Thursday 839 Friday 856 Saturday 786 Was surprised to see that some items the Dr said I should eat were so high in sodium like the turkey lunch meat, the Lentil Soups and the cheeses. The Dr's office doesn't have a dietitian on staff yet, they are trying to get one on board and as of 2 weeks ago they were still working out insurance approvals and scheduling for her. Questions what should my sodium being? Should I eat more like what Ann was eating at 6 weeks 550 to 800 65 to 88 protein? By the way Ann that was very helpful, thanks. As for the Dr here is the info on him Medical Director of the Institute for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery Board Certified, General Surgery Fellow of the American College of Surgeons Member of the American Society of Metabolic and Bariatric Surgeons He is highly regarded among his peers for his technical skills, excellent outcomes and low complication rates. On staff at our Medical Center since 1995, He started the bariatric surgery program in 2000 with an extensive background in weight loss surgery. The Dr. trained under Dr. Alan Wittgrove, pioneer of the Laparoscopic approach of Gastric Bypass Surgery and the first surgeon to perform a Laparoscopic Gastric Bypass in the world. Since then, the Dr. has performed thousands of Laparoscopic weight loss surgery and has trained 36 surgical teams from around the world in his techniques. After graduating from Birmingham Southern College, the Dr. attended the University of South Alabama College of Medicine. He completed an internship and residency in General Surgery at Mount Sinai Medical Center in Miami, Florida. The Dr. is proficient in both open incision and Laparoscopic weight loss surgery. In addition to bariatric surgery, he performs an entire range of general surgery, including gallbladder removal, hernia repairs, heartburn surgery, colon and intestinal surgery, stomach surgery and skin cancer surgery. Sorry I do not know how to take off the blue since I copied the info above and pasted it. However to answer the other question. Yes I am having constipation problems. TMI probably!! I use to go every day before surgery and in these almost 6 weeks I can count on 1 hand how many times I went. When I do go it is very little. I tired the Citrucel twice that the Dr told me to take and it is disgusting to drink. So what do I do? To be up 6 pounds in one week is very discouraging to me. I agree I probably need to just weigh once a week and not every day. Thanks everyone for being here for me as I am on this journey alone. No family and friends I can talk to except for all of you here. -
December 2010 Bandsters out there?
Dave_NW replied to GardenGal's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Good idea to test as you, er, "go." If you find you don't care for the shakes, remember that Costco will take back the open box and give you a full refund. So you won't be stuck with them if you don't like them. (My own TMI) As for the fiber thing, Costco also sells Fiber Gummies. They taste (kind of) like Gummy Bears. I eat a few a day, and it keeps me sort of regular. My diet is higher Protein, lower glycemic carbs, and not a lot of volume, so bathroom visits for that reason are only a few times a week. The Fiber Gummies help the movement of such things when the need is there, if you catch my drift. Dave, who is chuckling over the personal things this forum gets me to admit... -
I'm being SLEEVED on Sept. 15, 2010 by Dr. Aceves!!
LilMissDiva Irene replied to LilMissDiva Irene's topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
So today officially marks my 3rd week sleeved!! My totals are 15.6 Lbs since Sleeve surgery day and 24.6 Lbs since the beginning of my Pre-Op diet. Also, I have lost 73.6 Lbs from my highest forever!!! I am just now starting to get into my mushies, puree's and softer foods. I will do this through day 30... which I am now on day 21. I'm not doing all too bad. I can eat egg soup that I make for myself every night for dinner. It's pretty tasty! I also eat high Fiber oatmeal for my carb of the day. It's helping!!! LMAO!! I need it though. Maybe TMI, but I actually went through 5 or 6 days last week of a no-go. Not good! I know I've also been feeling way better since too. Lighter even? Yeah maybe... LOL When I first started my Pre-Op diet I was wearing a size 22W/1-2X. Today I am back into clothes I haven't worn since last summer. I am wearing 18W/XL-1X. I can even wear my XL pajama gowns perfectly. I feel incredible and sooo happy I did this!!! Sure it may have been pretty awful the first few days, but I'd gladly trade those few days in now for all the awesome days I'm having now! I am usually the type to get a good workout in. Well I have decided to put that on the back burner for now until I can get my proper nutrients in, and a good supply of Water. I'm still to this day working on this. I really can get a good amount of water in, but I still feel some lethargy due to not being able to eat solid foods. In my estimation I'm still thinking I'm a good 2-3 weeks out or more from that stage. So for now I'm just getting some walking in and some low key Calisthenics. It's keeping my muscles toned right now and keeping me semi active. It's ok -- I'm still losing really good right now, so I'm not all too worried. As a matter of fact, I have to get my calisthenics on tonight!!! :-) I have a bit of trouble coming though.... I always seem to get stuck at the weight 255. Up or down I hover around this weight for weeks before coasting along. We'll see if this will be the same this time around. Also today I went back to work for the first time since surgery. Yay!! It was nice. Everyone was glad I was back, including myself. I think I had too much time on my hands! There's lots of work to do there so the days will start flying by again. And as I always say... as long as I'm doing what I'm supposed to do, time will pass and the pounds will drop. Ok, I'm outta here for now! Good luck to all the pre-sleevers going up soon! You will do great. You may even question yourself for a day or two... I won't lie, I did myself - but it didn't take me long to take that back and be ever thankful for Dr. Aceves and my new tiny tummy!!!:heart::heart::heart::heart::heart: -
My slump continues and it's a mystery to me
DoOver replied to DoOver's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
That really wouldn't surprise me. My hair is starting to thin. However, on that topic, I'd love to know why the hair on my head is falling out while the hair on my legs and pits continues to flourish. TMI? Maybe, but it's the truth and you'd think it would all grow from the same source of nutrition. -
Nope, I would not reply to someone who indicated they had WLS no matter how well written their profile is. Like CowgirlJane said, way TMI way too soon. I also don't respond to people who complain about their exes, who label themselves as "nice guys" or worse something along the lines of "nice guys finish last" or any other sort of whiny bs. On a personal note the "nice guy" tag annoys the crap out of me...the fastest way to get a woman to run away from you is to tell her you are are a good guy. You let her know this through actions, consistent, good man actions, not labeling your profile with "good man" garbage, ugh that annoys me. Don't fill out your full profile- no one really cares to read that much unless they're a stalker, in which case you have bigger problems. In terms of best dating sites, hands-down I prefer Tinder. As a pre-qualification, this used to be known as a hook-up site, which I didn't actually know when I first started using it. I have met one person off of there and he ended up being first a really good friend and later my boyfriend and, lol, there was never any hook-up type of arrangement. He took me out for a nice dinner the first time we met, like is supposed to be the case for a date. Tinder is great because the only people who can message you are people you have an interest in, so for women you don't get every creep and their brother messaging you. Also, while there is the point that Tinder is shallow, so is life. Let's be honest, if you aren't attracted to someone, you aren't likely to end up dating them, so why not just get that part out of the way? On Tinder you only talk to women or men who you like and who also liked you. I haven't used the app in awhile, but for someone looking to meet someone without having to go through a lot of sending messages and being ignored, this is a decent start.

Things I won't miss about being fat!
RhondaHigdon replied to ChubRub's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
i can relate to each and every person that has stated all the reasons I won't miss about being fat and I know this is absolutely TMI, but I hated using the bathroom because I can't get to myself to clean myself properly without having to get back in the shower once again. -
I haven't been banded yet - just starting the process ... however, I've already have this problem - or should I say - HAD - this problem. A friend of mine told me that her gastroenterologist told her to take 250-500 mg. of magnesium daily and it would regulate her -- she said if that didn't work, increase it by 250 mg. until it did - that you can't OD on magnesium - your body will burn off what it doesn't use. Well, my BF and I both started taking it - You can get a 100-ct. bottle at Target for $2.49. I started taking 500 mg., about 3 weeks ago and now I go every day -- sometimes more than once! Hope that's not TMI!!! Give it a try - hope this helps someone. :rolleyes2::tongue:

I'm not sure how to pm. My symptoms are very similar to the stomach flu. Nausea, dry heaves, lethargic, and tmi, but now that I'm trying phenergen suppositories, diarreah. I don't think I can last 3 months how can I get my surgeon to try what they did for you? -
TMI FOR ALL YOU GUYS OUT THERE Hi ladies! Anyone had more than one period in 1 month, post-vsg??? I have had a Mirena IUD for 5 years now with very regular, predictable periods. I had my VSG on 12/13/16. Afterwards, I had my normal, usual 4 day period on 12/30/16, and now only 14 days later, here it is again. Full force. What gives?? This has never happened to me as long as I have had periods. TMI again, sorry... but if this was a little spotting or what-not, I wouldn't think anything of it. But, this is a total full blown period, which I find very strange, especially considering that I have an IUD. Can anyone weigh-in on this? Any knowledge, personal experiences or thoughts are welcomed and appreciated. Thanks ladies! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

How do you get your caffeine fix?
Lanette replied to Ellie4me's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
My morning coffee. I stopped for a while, but my doc let me add it back in. Probably TMI, but I have never in my life had constipation issues and I did after surgery. My morning coffee is the cure for that if you get my drift. Sorry for the TMI, but I doubt I'm the only one. -

Plastic Surgery After Lapband
luvmy2dogs replied to oldiebutgoodie2's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Thank you for your thoughts. I firmly believe running is what keeps my weight off. My eating has increased since I had my band done almost 4 years ago. I'm pretty much maxed out on my fill, and don't have a ton of restriction, so I have to do something to keep the weight in check. ha! I visited with a couple surgeons, and most will do the tummy tuck and breast lift together. They don't like to do tummy and legs, because I guess with tummy you hunch over, and with legs you are supposed to stay straight, so one would kind of outdo the other. I haven't even asked about face, etc.. Congrats. on your arms. I would like to have mine done, but I had to pick my battles. I can only do this once. $$$ does not allow a multiple surgery, so I chose the two parts I want to do most. My breasts have tons of skin, and it flaps when I run, even with the best bra possible. (I know tmi) hahah sounds nasty ha? My stomach isn't terrible, but def have a slight apron, and I figure since I'm doing one anyway, I would go for it. Maybe down the road I can do another part if I win the lottery, lol. Thanks again for getting back to me. I'm going to see another surgeon next week. -
I am wearing stretched out cotton crotch pink Lycra panties that I have to keep pulling down over my right butt cheeck, because it rides up in my crack. The elastic comes up so high on my stomach that it almost coves up my port scar. My Bra makes up for my undies. I have a Strapless Beige Lane Bryant Bra only one month old. It is formed so it can stand up in the corner by itself, which I like because the only bra I have that my nippies don't show through. It has so much underwire it pulls the girls up off my panties and midway my upper arm just like Oprah's $72 bra. Mine was on sale for $19. Besides that I have a Cozumel Mexico Yellow Sundress on and I am barefoot. TMI?
