This has been a great week. Monday I did my weekly weight in and discovered I'd lost another 6lbs which put me at 150 lbs lost! I'm not sure why 150 was so much more rewarding than 144, but t sure felt great. I'm now 55% of the way to my goal. Also on Monday I put on a new pair of dress pants, black ones. Well when I went to my closet to get a black belt it occured to me that the only black belt I had was from "before". Not having much of a choice I punched a new hole in the belt, about 6 inches down from the last available hole and put it on. I can only assume the extra did not look too bad wrapped half way around my left side.

Backstory: A friend from high school came in town who I hadn't seen for four years. I had to go to her father's funeral, and we also were hanging out. It was my first time really letting go and having fun. So here are my NSVs 1) Started this journey at tight 28. Yesterday, had to go to a funeral - slipped on a size 22 no problem. Bit of a muffin-top issue, but my shirt was long/loose enough it didn't look funny. 2) After the funeral, food spread included: Turkey, ham, cheese, rolls (yum), carrot cake, chips & salsa. I had 2 slices turkey, 1 slice ham, and 2.5 slices cheese. NO BREAD!! 3) So I drank a fair amount of red wine yesterday... I think it ended up being around 3 glasses (probably ended up being around 200-300 calories). Well, after I was already basically tipsy/drunk, we went to another bar. I did not order another drink, which was good. Also, my friends ordered Pub Chips (delicious chips w/ seasoning, eat w/ ranch dressing). Even inebriated, I DID NOT PARTAKE!! 4) This morning I took her to my favorite Breakfast place (where they have like caramel pear french toast, and blts with eggs and pesto mayo - delicious). Well I ordered the smoked salmon wrap (smoked salmon, goat cheese, spinach, egg, tomato in a spinach tortilla) and subbed a house salad for the home fries. I ate 1/2 the wrap (fillings only), and about 1/2 the salad. And no bites of biscuits & gravy or strawberry pancakes! I rule! I realize a lot of these are "I didn't eat/drink X", but that is my hardest thing - to stick to the diet on the weekend, when I'm out, when I'm having fun, when I'm celebrating, when it's a special occasion - whatever. So it was really good for me to be able to say "This is a special occasion, and I can drink 3 glasses of wine, but it doesn't need to be 3 glasses of wine, plus pub chips, and rolls, and pancakes, etc." OH, and the SV: I woke up this morning, convinced I'd plateau'ed myself yesterday. Nope, down 2 more lbs!!

What are some of your Non Scale Victories (NSV's)
bs19gal replied to bs19gal's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
More NSV's, it helps detract from the thinning hair I'm on my third throw out from my closet and even had to throw some new thinner cloths out !!! I pretty much have nothing old left. I literally put on every item and can't believe how tight they used to be, just look like a sack of potatoes now. This is all I have left and the top left section is my BF's cloths. New smaller cloths take up a lot less room and weight in the suitcase. And whoever said you need to get to a size 14 before folks really notice was absolutely right, one lovely comment from my Indian colleague that was here visiting and last saw me 70lbs heavier " you are reducing a lot " -

Hello Fellow VSG'rs ok its been a while since I was on here , but I am happy to say I am currently down to 178lbs , thats 75 lbs from where I began this journey !!!!!! As a result of losing what I consider to be a whole child off of my 5'2" frame , I can do so many more activities including running!!! Running has been an activity I absolutely hated unless it was moving me away from immediate and immenant danger, but to do so created an inferno in my chest and made me sweat like a race horse!!!! My new NSV is that I am now running because I actually like it ..... what ????? did I just say that ??? Oh yes I did , it allows me thinking time to myself it kicks up my endorphins and makes me burn way past the run , and I am preparing to run a half marathon in September. Now for me thats major because I used to profess being allergic to running!!!!!! My legs are building all king of muscle tone , although I still have the loose skin and thighs that wont just dissapear already!!!! But all and all I feel fabulous and I wouldnt change a thing about my journey and progress :-) Hope everyone is fairing well!!!!! My enemy sugar just wont give up and go away , I am fighting hard to lose that relationship. OH one more thing, I use the Fitbit to track my activity , I LOVE LOVE LOVE the Fitbit. It motivates me to outdo my own scores daily as well as those of my sister. My mind is set on oh I walked 5.85 miles well I can make that 6, I keep moving and look again and its 6.95 and I'm like well now I have to make it 7 and so on !!!! That little thing has had me pushing myself beyond my limits trying to do better , I LOVE IT !!!!!! Be sucessful!!! Two Fingers , One Love!! CAMMYD*:-)

Losing patience, where did it go?
teacherlady2133 replied to teacherlady2133's topic in Rants & Raves
I am glad you commented, I have a friend who feels the same way you do. She is enjoying the new me and loves and laughs that I now have a voice. She also sees this as a NSV. She understands this is such an adjustment for me and change from not speaking up to always having something to say.. She does say it is very different to have me make comments on topics or to people who I would never of called out before. To her this new voice is fun and enjoyable to get to know a different side of me. She doesn't think I am being rude or too harsh and others should deal with it. She believes others are taking it harsh or more shocking because I have never spoken up before, not how I am saying things just that I am addressing issues at all. Instead of beating myself up over this change, I think I will learn to adjust to it. It will mellow out as you said and I will find a groove. -
Congratulations llewis on your NSV....however, I'm with Wavydaby....I hate pantyhose too. Did the corporate scene for over 30 years and got so sick and tired of pantyhose. The burning inner thighs from them rubbing, the sweating, the stinky feet.....and yes, I bathed on a regular basis....LOL. I hope I never have to do the pantyhose thing again. I wear very dressy formal pant suits when attending functions like Weddings.....they sometimes look like a female version of a tux. Again, congrats.....I'm happy for you. Carol

Bravo Parvathi! Excellent work! I'd be thrilled if everyone has their own NSV thread! -
Congratulations! That's a great NSV. I'm with you -- pantyhose make me feel very feminine and like I look better in clothes. I should get a pair out and try them on....

Way to goralheit and kat! Losingjusme, you'll be surprised how quickly time will fly and you'll be asking for booths in no time. My new NSV's are that I can sit on the inside seat on the bus without being uncomfortable or inconveniencing the person who sits on the outside. Also, yesterday marked the 6th flight in a row that I haven't needed a seatbelt extender, so I think I'll turn mine in soon! Lastly, for the first time in YEARS, I don't hate the pictures of myself that were taken on my mini vacation this weekend. My face is starting to look like the old me!

I have my psycho eval today. I will let everyone know how it went and what they did since so many people (including myself) are always asking what the do. I'm exited to be one step closer to my band! NSV most looking forward too today - getting out of the shower and being able to wrap a NORMAL size towel around my body without one boob and 1/2 my tummy hanging out!

Heh, I'm still working on that one but it IS getting better! That's a great NSV to look forward to! Give us the scoop on the "psycho" eval.

The view from 'down there' (a ladies room post)

On my top ten for NSV!!!! -
ok--so I went to the bank this morning--(I live in a small town where everyone knows I had VSG) and the girls working in there start telling me that my clothes are way too baggy and that they look bad. Now, this is a little bit NSV and a little concerning. Concerning because I don't feel like I am ready for tighter clothes yet. I have spent the last 20 years making sure that my clothes covered everything and were never tight on me--the less skin they actually touched the better. Elastic waist and VERY long shirts have been normal for me. A friend called me the other day and told me she had a bunch of clothes for me so I went and got them and they all fit--but they are tight--not tight like they are too small--but tight like in style--I just can't see myself wearing them right now I have went from a tight size 24 to a nice fitting 14/16 in two months so I am happy about that--I am just a little worried about when will my head catch up with my body? I keep thinking that no one will even be able to notice that I have lost weight and am surprised when someone says something about it. Just wondering how long till your mind knows you are thinner???

October Sleevies - Check in!
courtines replied to lisajxoxo's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I will be 4 weeks out on Monday and am doing pretty well. I am having a stall this week, which is making me completely bonkers, but I am just trying to avoid the scale until my appointed time. I am struggling with getting my liquids in, but I keep trying. Water has never been my thing, so I have a purse full of crystal lite packets so I have no excuses. It is just hard. I was a hardcore soda drinker until about a month before my surgery and sometimes the crystal lite doesn't cut it. Trying to give myself lots of options though. I still need to work on my exercise and energy level, but I have been bad about taking my Vitamins and am making that a new goal, along with my Protein and water. I had a pretty awesome NSV the other night, when a coworker told me that my scrub shirt (that I wore all the time pre-op) looked like a dress on me. So glad to see that everyone is doing well. You guys are awesome! -
Nsv I'm looking forward to: 1. Less back pain 2. More clothing options 3. more shoes!!! 4. Getting on a plane and not worrying if the seat belt will fit 5.not being winded when I walk up the stairs 6. People not saying " your cute for a big girl" 7.no more cuddy chasers( they can be creepy ) 8. I can go zip lining

February Sleevers.... Check in!
Dragonsmate replied to Lulah's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
sleeved 2/10/2014 Highest weight (at my first Bariatric Surgery appt): 284.1 Pre-surgery weight: 268 Current weight: 246.4 Only problems were nausea and one episode of dumping with, of all things, chicken broth-not fun. Surgery incisions healed well, my surgeon was very pleased at my 2 week post-op visit and I just finished a 1 week camping trip. As far as foods, I am on a soft diet right now and that consists of scrambled eggs, cottage cheese, tuna salad, bananas, and cream of wheat. I struggle to get my Protein in but track that and my Water on Myfitnesspal--now very religious about logging my intake. I see the nutritionist on Tuesday and I believe I will graduate to regular foods at that time. Exercise consists of walking but I am treating myself tomorrow, for my current weight loss, to a gym membership! I still fatigue easily but I have more good days than bad now. NSVs have been subtle. My clothes prior to surgery were tight. Like, really really tight. Now, they are loose and I can wear rings that previously, I could not...oh, and I was able to cross my legs the other night! Pretty damn happy about it thus far -
February Sleevers.... Check in!
Sarahjane79 replied to Lulah's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I was February 19. So it was 3 weeks out yesterday. I'm in the soft food stage. So soft fish, shrimp, tuna, canned chicken, lunch meat, etc. I have yet to find a food on my list that disagrees with my new tummy. With this stage I'm finally able to get my Proteins in. I'm also obsessed with minute maid light lemonade. Since I bought it, I've been able to get my fluids in finally as well. Only complaint is the biggest incision on my left side still hurts. A lot. Like, I still take pain meds for it often. I've asked my doc if it's normal, and apparently it is, unfortunately. Haven't started exercising yet. I have to call tomorrow to make any appointment with the physiologist. My NSV would be that my jacket doesn't feel like it's mine, cause its big. And my clothes feel bigger. I can walk up two flights of stairs at school without getting winded. And all the compliments I've gotten, mostly from my pcp who I haven't seen since a bit before surgery. All my friends and family are so supportive and happy for me, it's awesome. I'm down 37 lbs in 5 weeks, and I couldn't be happier. It's absolutely amazing, and I'm so glad I made this choice. All the healthy foods I've had the last few days have all tasted good, and I actually crave them, and not the shitty foods. It's amazing how it seems that the switch has been flipped in my brain. -
