    Calorie Concern

You're right on track for the 3 week stall. My longest stall was at 3 weeks out and lasted 20 days. Just keep doing you and follow your plan. Your body is just readjusting. I hit a stall every 2-3 weeks. I'm a classic stair-step loser. I've stair stepped my way down 211 pounds so far DO NOT worry and do not do anything crazy. Just get your Water and Protein in and keep doing you. YOU GOT THIS. It's a mental mind **** so hold on tight.

    Almost there...

So I am a week away now and I think I am feeling okay. I have prepared myself for the worst. I have come up with almost all the worst conclusions possible and asked myself would it still be worth it. Since becoming addicted to this site, I have come to learn that the emotions and adjustments are somewhat standard. A very hard pre-op Day 1-3. I bounced back so well after my C-section in July. I mean the doctor had to tell me take it easy, because even my if my body was feeling great I just had a major surgery. So I am preparing myself to have a not so great recovery. Not trying to jinx myself, but preparing as a "just in case." The "What Did I Do To Myself" breakdown. It seems like almost everyone goes through this at some point. Whether its when you are sitting in the mirror during week 1 OR when you are really tested by not being able to eat your fav food. I am going to write a letter to post op self from my pre-op self that hopes to encourage me and answer that dreaded question. The liquid-oh-how-I-hate-liquids rant. Liquid diets suck. Yeah, I said it. No one want to them. It seems that almost everyone goes through this also. My post op diet requires liquids for 10-14 days post-op. I am hoping the first 5-7 days are a breeze because I won't need much to get full. But then I have to force myself to know that this liquid phrase is needed to help my body heal. The dreaded 3 week stall. It's funny. No matter how many times people on here talk about stalling at this point, so many are disheartened. Well I am preparing myself for it now. I am preparing for it to last anywhere from a week to a month. I know my body is going through a lot of changes (or will be). I know that this too will past. Learning to eat again and not drinking while eating. I am a fast eater. I have been trying to get this under control. I mean I don't intentionally eat fast, but I make no effort to slow down. My husband always says to slow down. So this past couple of weeks, I have been chewing and eating like sleever. I have been chewing and chewing and chewing. Not fun. I think its because I am still eating a normal plate size and it takes forever. I am also a gulper. I will have to really remind myself of the changes that I need to make to make my sleeve work. Then looking back 5 months post-op and not regretting a thing.

    New here - need advice

Oh wow, didn't know that the "3 week stall" was actually a thing, makes sense though, thank you so much ????
  4. Well, you are losing weight. You lost 10 pounds the first two weeks. You are now starting your third week, a time where it is well documented the body stalls. Happened to me and many many many others on here. I actually stalled at 2 and 3 weeks. Do a search for the 3 week stalls and a very good post about embracing the stall floating around here.
  5. If you read a lot on this forum, you will learn about the dreaded 3 week stall. I am one of the fortunate ones that did not experience it, but many here have. I've read that it can last up to 2-3 weeks.

    In my 2nd Stall!

This is a great thread to read. I agree stalls are very frustrating I expected the 3 week stall from months of research on these forum. What i didnt expect is a 7 week stall, Yep I said it 7 weeks stall. However during that time I stayed the course on my water intake and watch my protein intake as well. I also kept going to the gym and now I have seen the scale move downwards and My endurance level is much higher. It helps to take measurements and also to have a scale that measures your water weight, and muscle mass so if the scale showing weight doesnt move, the others will!! So keep up your good work and have faith the sleeve will work for you!

    What's A Stall?

CBT if the scale hasn't moved in 2-3 weeks, you are probably at a stall - that doesn't mean you will be slowing down in your weight loss At about 6 months out I told my DH I never had a stall, DH told me not to jinx myself sure enough with in a few days I had about a 3 week stall. never again - oh no - did i jinx myself again best kathy

    How To Break A Stall

Having a bout of no loss at your point is completely normal. You just wait it out. There are stall-busters, but those are for "real" stalls. What you're going through is most likely just a glycogen cycle. Look up "3 week stall". Should be more than enough info.
  9. I don't think you are doing anything wrong and I think your calories are where they need to be this early out. Not everyone loses super fast, I certainly did not. You may also be in the 3 week stall, considering the timing here, as others have mentioned. I certainly would not increase calories or carbs, but that is just my opinion, and I am not a dietician. Going super low carb now is not only a good way to lose weight but is a great way to cleanse your system of carb addictions and make it easier for you in the long run. Stick with it, follow your nut & doctor's recommendations, and tough it out. Your progress is not bad, really it isn't. I'm sure you are disappointed, but it could be a lot worse.
  10. I know this isn’t a new topic but I’m in a lot of distress about this. I woke up from surgery on July 28, 2022 literally with my stomach growling. I started out weighing 203lbs, had taken the online classes a year prior and gotten a call from the surgeon on a Monday asking me if I’d like to have surgery that Thursday. He had an opening. I was not prepared at all but decided to do it. I wonder if not having done the liquid diet ahead of time contributed to my hunger? Regardless, I eat about 500 calories a day and small meals every 3 hours or so to kill the constant hunger I do take the PPi and even Prilosec as recommended on here. Does the hunger go away? I’m in the 3 week stall as well :/. I’ve only lost 16 pounds. My spirits are low right now. I don’t get that full feeling I just portion out 1/4-1/2 cup or small oz servings to know how much to eat. Food never feels trapped in my throat or anything. I hear that people have to force themselves to eat I read that the key to success with the gastric sleeve is loss of hunger and satiety and I have neither. Has my surgery been unsuccessful?
  11. I have not lost even an ounce since last Tuesday =( I know everyone says it will be ok, you'll lose but it is so frustrating!! I didn't pay all the money (self pay) and go through the emotional rollercoaster to stall for this long!! I know I will probably look back 6 months from now and laugh at myself for fussing but right now, at this moment in time, I am frustrated... Am I allowed that at least?
  12. I didn't lose anything my second month out from surgery. I hit that dreaded 3 week stall. It lasted a few weeks, and then I began loosing again. Even after that though I only lost an average of 10 pounds a month. Keep your spirits up though, a loss is still a loss, and all of those little losses add up pretty quickly. It is also better for your skin to lose slowly, it gives your skin the chance to shrink up with you, instead of being wobbly. Losing slowly also helped me with hair loss. I only lost a little hair because my body wasn't put into such a shock mode. Good luck girl! You will get there soon enough!

    Weight loss, anyone?

It's called the 3 week stall and everyone has them. Its famous. Do a search for stalls on here or better yet, check out the sub forum "don't sweat the stall stuff". There are so many posts from newbies about the same old stalls thatAlex created a forum just for you. But my best advice is just stick with the plan, enjoy the journey and STAY OFF THE SCALE!
  14. Thanks for the reply! I was suffering with constipation week 2&3 but the most I would fluctuate was 1 or 2 lbs not 6 [emoji24] but I have been drinking miralax all week and have been very regular which was awesome! I was cleared for exercise this week so I was hoping to go back to the gym tomorrow and hopefully that will help. Hopefully it is the 3 week stall and there is a possibility that I could be starting that time of the month. All good things to consider, thank you!

    1200 Calories?

You're at the infamous 3-week stall. Just keep doing what you're doing (and personally, I think you're doing great to be getting in as much as you are!). The 3-week stall hits almost all of us. That feeling that seems like hunger may well be excess acid--are you on a PPI or other antacid medication? A lot of folks need that after surgery. If it's true hunger, then yeah, eat something on your "approved foods" list, focusing on getting your Water and Protein in first. Every person is different, and we all respond differently to stuff. Hang in there--that stall is going to break, and you're on your way!!

    3 week post-op stall

It's the "3 week stall". Completely normal and will pass. No one could have convinced me (many tried) back then. Hang in there. Good things coming your way!

    I'm driving myself crazy

ok I had my surgery 5/11 and I've lost 18lbs. Tomorrow will begin my 2nd week and for the last 5 days I haven't lost a single pound. I know I shouldn't weigh everyday but I have been. I know there's the 3 weeks stall but I'm not even in my 2nd week. I am still drinking 2 protein shakes a day and getting about 65-70 grams of protein per day. is there anything else I can change, am I doing something wrong?

    haven't lost a lb in 4 days...

It's the 3 week stall, very well discussed on the board if you do a quick search.

  21. I seem to have already hit my first weight loss plateau. Things were flying along with the scale dropping 2-3 lbs a day but as soon as I started the first day of my third week I noticed slowing. Now as that week has progressed, closed and I have started the fourth week I have not seen the scale move down at all. As a matter of fact last night it went up a pound. I am not really freaking out yet since I was ready and prepared for what they call the the 3 week stall and on top of that I am menstrating which usually causes me to retain Water and gain a few pounds for the week but I do have an important question... When does it start moving again? How long does this stall usually last? I am trying to stay positive, I am sticking to the plan but in the end if it goes for much longer I know I will start to feel discouraged. Anyone want to share I would love to hear that it will get better (even if I have to wait).
  22. I can see where this would have freaked you out. If I'd not been warned ahead of time (on here) I would have been standing there scratching my head and reaching for my phone to call the surgeon and make some noise. Much respect for you traveling so soon after surgery. That couldn't have been much fun. I'm prepared for the 3-week stall. Ready indeed.

    Need some reassurances

Did you lose a good amount of weight before surgery. If so my guess is you hit the 3 week stall right after surgery. There Is no way the body can sustain you on 600 calories long term without hitting the fat. Just hang in there the weight loss will come. You aren't giving your body any other option. It's just kicking up a fuss about it.
  24. I need to start keeping track of all my NSV's because I am having so many, and loving it!!! Last week I was at the grocery store at the end of my street, the one I have gone to for about 7 years now, and a woman that works there came up to me, and said, "WOW, you have lost so much weight!" That felt so awesome to have someone notice outside of friends/family. Then, I was at the pet store yesterday, and a lady who works there, that I haven't seen for a while, said the same thing as the lady at the grocery!!! At the pet store, I said, yah, I have lost SOME weight (LOL), 119 pounds. I went on to get my cat food, and the woman that was walking to the check out, I could hear her say, "did she just say she lost 119 pounnds??? That is amazing!". I got in line and that woman was still there and was like, that is great you lost so much weight, are you maintaining well now. When I told her I had 85 more to lose, she was like, NO WAY, haha. I have only gotten that response from friends/family, so it felt good hearing it from someone I didn't even know. I was just like, "well, you don't know what I weigh". I can see WHERE I can lose 85 or more pounds! Even if I lose that much more, I will still have a high normal BMI. Anyway, we will just see where I feel best. And then my last NSV to share, was inspired by someone on here that I saw just post a recent pic of themself in their "big" jeans. So, I went and got mine out, and could fit in to one leg as well!!! I tried to take pictures, but none turned out of me in one leg. But here are a few pics of me from today with my "big" jeans. The jeans are a size 32, and I am currenlty in a 20, even some 18/20's and my top is a 2X I just bought!!! AND, OMG! I am in shorts!!! Not an NSV, but a scale victory, that I needed to share. I finally broke my 3 week stall!!!! WOOHOOO. And, I lost 5 pounds this week. I offically weighed in at 250 pounds! So happy!!!! Here is a slide show of my journey from begining to now, in pictures, if anyone would like to take a look : http://smilebox.com/playBlog/4d6a51784d7a59324e6a673d0d0a&blogview=true
