    Funny Nsv

WOOOHOOO, you go girl! Thats a awesome NSV, congrats!!
  2. Well, I'm not having an easy food holiday, not from overeating, but from eating food that I don't typically eat--my sleeve really, REALLY doesn't like turkey! I thought my sleeve was getting a bit more tolerant, as I have been able to eat foods recently that I couldn't eat comfortably before, but these last two days have been really rough; that's what I get for posting it as an NSV! LOL I actually had to throw up twice, yesterday after eating a couple of small pieces of beef fajita meat (very tender and well chewed, but still not enough, evidently) and today after having two bites of turkey (dark meat, very tender and well chewed). It's kind of depressing to be eight months out and still be unable to eat particular, fairly common foods. On the flip side, I guess that price is an acceptable trade-off for being healthy and not overweight. I'm really thrilled with how things have gone overall. I'm just frustrated that I can't seem to eat meat or poultry with reliability. So I've been "on program" but not because my discipline has been fabulous. I did eat the guts of a sliver of sweet potato pie later this afternoon, and it was delicious and comfortable. Won't overdo, though--too much sugar to feel good!
  3. That is a huge NSV! I'm so glad you've become healthier! I love hearing NSVs - some make you smile but some make you tear up for the incredible impact this procedure has had on our health and well being. This one made me shed some happy tears
  4. Congrats! Now that is a tangible NSV! I look forward to seeing your post when you finally donate the chair to a charity because you no longer need it
  5. That is the best NSV ever!!! So happy for you!! And thank you for sharing hope.

    Liberating NSV

Funny Jack.... :-) P'nut - How cool was that?? Good NSV for you. I got the appetizer when I went out the other night and ate maybe 1/2 of it. Everyone at the table just looked at me, but I felt pretty good about it, too. So your mom's in huh? I bet she thought you looked wonderful! How nice for you guys to be able to have a leisurely visit without worrying about the food ---- and of all places, Red Robin! WOW.... not sure I could have gone without ordering the burger heaped with mayo - even if I did only eat a couple of bites - those are soooooo good.

    Are Those New Jeans?

I have pair of size 14 jeans I bought when I lost a bunch of weight 10 years ago. They are at the top of my NSV list (but about 120lbs away). Gettin my band December 18th. Congrats to you on your NSV!
  8. There is no guarantee that you won't be one of the few people that can not eat spicy food or bread post surgery. That is a small risk to take vs being obese and all of the potential health issues that can come with it. Look at all of the positive aspects of your life that can happen: better health, living longer, more NSVs than you can shake a stick at, comorbidities that are significantly reduced or go away, etc.. Using straws or drinking carbonated diet beverages is a heated debate. The only time I use a straw is on infrequent occasions when I buy a diet fountain beverage from a convenience store. I do drink diet carbonated beverages without problems. Even my surgeon and his head nurse both think that carbonated diet drinks (when appropriate to drink, post WLS) stretching your sleeve is a myth. But out of fairness, they prefer Water as the beverage of choice. Also, diet sodas can be acidic and may contain caffeine. My hair did thin a little post WLS, but I never had any issues with significant hair loss and don't have a problem now. WLS is only a tool. We need to commit to a lifestyle change to make them very successful.

    what is an NSV?

Long ago I used to post the sudden little NSVs that appeared in my life.....it got to the point after a few months postOp where I could easily generate about 10 a week that sneaked up on me. Some were such as "realizing I could wear my cowboy hat IN my pickup without it mashing into the roof" or wondering whether a squad of carpenter leprechauns hustled around in restaurants rebuilding the always-too-tight booths so I could actually fit IN them comfortably.... NSV covers a lot a ground even when the scale numbers don't seem to be cooperating. Having to box up my old XXXX stuff and return it to Omar the Tent maker, and learning there are entire stores that DON'T have an XXXX size in them! was another NSV. Cheers,

    NSV (Non Scale Victory)!!!

You all are losing weight so much faster than I am...I haven't had any fills yet though  Anyway, I thought it would be awhile before I could post anything here, but I just had my first NSV! Yesterday morning I was waiting for my fiance to get ready for work so we could leave and I had some extra time. We are allowed to wear jeans to work on Fridays so I was thinking "Hmm...since he's not in the room, maybe I should just try quick?" I haven't been able to wear my jeans in over a year and a half, and the last time I tried them on the buttons wouldn't come within 6 inches of each other. Yesterday, I was able to button and zip without sucking, pulling, or lying down and squirming I wore jeans for the first time to my job.

    NSV (Non Scale Victory)!!!

I had my first NSV today. I am a hospice nurse and after seeing my patient I was walking in the hallway and the nurse came up to me and said, I did not recognize you from the back. I said, what do you mean, she said, your backside is really slimming down. It wasn't until you turned around that I recognized you. Needless to say, I was all smiles.

    New NSV's

I on the other hand am kicking myslef for getting rid ofold clothes that I never hoped to wear again.... But I have a couple of NSV's!!! 1. I used to hang dry a lot of my clothes, because I could not allow ANY shrinkage. I now dry EVERYTHING I own!!! And some of it I dry actually trying to shrink it!!! 2. I am going to have to buy new boots...mine from the last 2 years, are just plain old too big. I used to have to be very careful not to zip my calf in the zipper. This year I can slide my hand down inside the boot with my leg, and even the foot part is just sloppy on me. Yea new boots!!! Merry Christmas to me!!! Look forward to hearing everyone elses NSV's!!! Kat

    Hi all, I'm checking in

Don't get down on yourselves. Remember the NSVs!!! Remember how you looked and felt before your surgery. Good! Now keep it close and restart at the beginning with the liquids , shakes and mushies and increase your daily exercise. Remember when you could only walk a little and had to stop??? Keep up the great work and concentrate on the NSvs right now and change what your are noticing to be old or bad habits. The band is our tool and you need to use it as such. But you control how successful it can be.Daily slips are ok, just remember to restart at the basics and get back on track. Good luck. Keep us posted

150lbs lost and a NSV too

This has been a great week. Monday I did my weekly weight in and discovered I'd lost another 6lbs which put me at 150 lbs lost! I'm not sure why 150 was so much more rewarding than 144, but t sure felt great. I'm now 55% of the way to my goal. Also on Monday I put on a new pair of dress pants, black ones. Well when I went to my closet to get a black belt it occured to me that the only black belt I had was from "before". Not having much of a choice I punched a new hole in the belt, about 6 inches down from the last available hole and put it on. I can only assume the extra did not look too bad wrapped half way around my left side.
  20. Backstory: A friend from high school came in town who I hadn't seen for four years. I had to go to her father's funeral, and we also were hanging out. It was my first time really letting go and having fun. So here are my NSVs 1) Started this journey at tight 28. Yesterday, had to go to a funeral - slipped on a size 22 no problem. Bit of a muffin-top issue, but my shirt was long/loose enough it didn't look funny. 2) After the funeral, food spread included: Turkey, ham, cheese, rolls (yum), carrot cake, chips & salsa. I had 2 slices turkey, 1 slice ham, and 2.5 slices cheese. NO BREAD!! 3) So I drank a fair amount of red wine yesterday... I think it ended up being around 3 glasses (probably ended up being around 200-300 calories). Well, after I was already basically tipsy/drunk, we went to another bar. I did not order another drink, which was good. Also, my friends ordered Pub Chips (delicious chips w/ seasoning, eat w/ ranch dressing). Even inebriated, I DID NOT PARTAKE!! 4) This morning I took her to my favorite Breakfast place (where they have like caramel pear french toast, and blts with eggs and pesto mayo - delicious). Well I ordered the smoked salmon wrap (smoked salmon, goat cheese, spinach, egg, tomato in a spinach tortilla) and subbed a house salad for the home fries. I ate 1/2 the wrap (fillings only), and about 1/2 the salad. And no bites of biscuits & gravy or strawberry pancakes! I rule! I realize a lot of these are "I didn't eat/drink X", but that is my hardest thing - to stick to the diet on the weekend, when I'm out, when I'm having fun, when I'm celebrating, when it's a special occasion - whatever. So it was really good for me to be able to say "This is a special occasion, and I can drink 3 glasses of wine, but it doesn't need to be 3 glasses of wine, plus pub chips, and rolls, and pancakes, etc." OH, and the SV: I woke up this morning, convinced I'd plateau'ed myself yesterday. Nope, down 2 more lbs!!
  21. More NSV's, it helps detract from the thinning hair I'm on my third throw out from my closet and even had to throw some new thinner cloths out !!! I pretty much have nothing old left. I literally put on every item and can't believe how tight they used to be, just look like a sack of potatoes now. This is all I have left and the top left section is my BF's cloths. New smaller cloths take up a lot less room and weight in the suitcase. And whoever said you need to get to a size 14 before folks really notice was absolutely right, one lovely comment from my Indian colleague that was here visiting and last saw me 70lbs heavier " you are reducing a lot "
  22. Saw my PCP yesterday. I'm off blood sugar, blood pressure and cholesterol meds! Major NSV!!!
  23. I went yard saling with my hubby and came across a pair of jeans for $1 in SIZE 12!! The last time I wore a 12, I was in middle school!! WOOT!! my superpower is......
  24. Hello Fellow VSG'rs ok its been a while since I was on here , but I am happy to say I am currently down to 178lbs , thats 75 lbs from where I began this journey !!!!!! As a result of losing what I consider to be a whole child off of my 5'2" frame , I can do so many more activities including running!!! Running has been an activity I absolutely hated unless it was moving me away from immediate and immenant danger, but to do so created an inferno in my chest and made me sweat like a race horse!!!! My new NSV is that I am now running because I actually like it ..... what ????? did I just say that ??? Oh yes I did , it allows me thinking time to myself it kicks up my endorphins and makes me burn way past the run , and I am preparing to run a half marathon in September. Now for me thats major because I used to profess being allergic to running!!!!!! My legs are building all king of muscle tone , although I still have the loose skin and thighs that wont just dissapear already!!!! But all and all I feel fabulous and I wouldnt change a thing about my journey and progress :-) Hope everyone is fairing well!!!!! My enemy sugar just wont give up and go away , I am fighting hard to lose that relationship. OH one more thing, I use the Fitbit to track my activity , I LOVE LOVE LOVE the Fitbit. It motivates me to outdo my own scores daily as well as those of my sister. My mind is set on oh I walked 5.85 miles well I can make that 6, I keep moving and look again and its 6.95 and I'm like well now I have to make it 7 and so on !!!! That little thing has had me pushing myself beyond my limits trying to do better , I LOVE IT !!!!!! Be sucessful!!! Two Fingers , One Love!! CAMMYD*:-)
  25. Strangefruit good for you - great NSV portion control can be difficult to teach yourself - you are doing great famous last words of my NUT/surgeon "eat until you are full, then stop 2 bites earlier " 3 weeks post op - what a winner you are!!!!! keep up the good work
