  1. Normal. We lose weight in "stair steps" .... not a downward slide. ( I wish it was just a slide !!! )
  2. I worried about it in the beginning. I make a point to not overeat often because of it. My habit is to stop at about 80% full. I can eat 2 cups at one sitting, on a hungry day and depending upon what it is. But as some say, just because I can doesn't mean I should or will lol. I have to rely on filling with fruits/vegetables, healthy low calorie foods, on those super hungry days or I would gain weight.
  3. There's also a calculator Dr. Weiner has developed to predict how much weight you will lose (within a range) with each procedure. It does require you to give an email to get the results (which they send to you within a couple minutes by email), but in my experience they don't abuse this or spam you with anything. https://www.poundofcureweightloss.com/bariatric-surgery-weight-loss-calculator/
  4. Hi guyssss i have a concern with weight stalling. i had my surgery on September 23, 2023, and after the surgery by a month i had a weight stall that lasted 3 weeks and after those 3 weeks but weight kept going down as normal. Recently (for a week now) i've noticed my weight is stuck on 75 KG so im guessing thats another weight stall almost 4.5 months in after surgery. Is it normal to have multiple weight stalls? or should i be worried?
  5. Hi everyone! I am just reaching out for some guidance. For those of you who have gotten gastric sleeve, do you think it is worth it? Those who have type 2 diabetes, did this control your blood sugars/improve A1c? I've never had surgery before, and I am thinking of doing this, but I am terrified of recovery and how my body will react with such a huge change. I am T2DM and have PCOS and weigh 250 lbs. I've always yo-yo'd with my weight and now I've found it very difficult to lose it, and I want to be able to feel good about myself again. I don't know anyone close to me who has done it, I've been relying on TikTok users telling the audience their story.

    Wegovy vs bariatric surgery

Froufrou - this where I am now .18 months post sleeve and my appetite is back and I am gaining weight .It started with stress when my sister became very ill , and now I am considering asking for Wegovy as I don't want it to climb further .I've done a lot of reading about the sleeve ,and it's pretty common for weight gain to occur between 12 months -18 months .I'll see what my doctor says ,I am hoping it will help me .
  7. I'd really love to hear from other men who have had plastic surgery following weight loss. I am a year and a half out from my bypass now and for the most part am pretty happy with the results. My weight has held pretty steady for the last six months and I've been working with a personal trainer for a few months now and happy with the results, especially in my arms and shoulders. However, as is to be expected there is a lot of loose skin around my middle. I have tried wearing my trousers higher than I used to and for the most part it's okay, but still feeling pretty self conscious about taking my shirt off - especially when I lean forward and the skin drapes off my torso. I've been thinking a lot about surgery to remove excess skin - definitely around my stomach but possibly my upper arms, inner thighs, and butt. I'm trying to find more information, but a lot of first hand accounts here in the forums tends to be from women, and when I look on surgeons' websites they tend to feature before and after photos and testimonials from women. Are there any men here who would be up for sharing their experiences of surgery after WLS? I'm especially interested in the procedures you had, the recovery process, and photos of the results if you'd be willing to share. Also, any recommendations for surgeons in the UK would be really appreciated!

    Eating With The Duodenal Switch

Also, I forgot to mention I do not doubt as I grow older I will have to continue to overeat every day or lose weight, muscle mass, bone density, etc. This is the real downside for me with the SADi DS or any other wls. I get 30 years of thin and healthy with a trade-off of the final 5 years or so being frail and breakable.

    Eating With The Duodenal Switch

I had the SADi DS not quite 10 years ago. I eat throughout the day because I like to, and I can easily eat a footlong Subways Stake & Cheese or anything else. The stomach restriction wore off after about 2 years. The weight stays off due to malabsorption & daily exercise. The downside of eating so much is gas and more frequent #2's. Generally, 2 to 3 times a day is normal but no issue and seldom an emergency. Also, when I have a morning bowel movement, I feel fantastic afterwards and happy to shed all toxic waste out of my body. I never get constipated but I do eat a lot of fat everyday in the form of cheese and Ice Cream.

4 yrs post VSG to RNY

May I ask if the reason for revision was for gerd or acid reflux? Just curious because after my sleeve o developed gerd, and I also need to loss some weight. One week post the RNY which is when I introduced soft food, I can feel the reflux at night when I lay down. It’s like something in the back of my throat and my chest feel tight. I don’t know if the reflux is a imidiate fix or not. I have to ask my doctor when I see him again. And how long was the bypass was never discussed. I didn’t know there is actually the length that I can discuss… I feel like there is a lot I could have ask and didn’t. At my one week post op visit, I had many questions, and maybe I was showing some anxiety, and of course the doctor and nutritionist sensed it. They just told me to keep clam? Let my body heal and don’t think about the weight loss right now.

Good to know you are doing good! You said you did the revision at your goal weight, did you lose Ms more weight after the revision or stay the same?

Yeah they do. They know what I’ve been through physically and mentally. But we have estranged a little only eating out every 3 months with them. They struggle to have cash to go out, so she hates waste I feel bad about wasting money. Even if I get a doggy bag. Generally hubby eats what’s left. I feel guilty about that too as he has weight issues(105kg) and is diabetic. His parents grew up on disability and money was always tight and he is old school about eating everything on your plate. I generally order an entree or alter the main meal and ask for it with the entree’s. That way I eat over the hour or so we are out and normally I just have water which I hardly touch. Or if I’m with my 12yr old we share a meal together. I normally have a drink before leaving home. And again when I get home. my eating does suck At the moment again. As mentioned I’ve been away from home a lot. I eat 1-2 times a day. Everything is mainly liquid now. Much easier to make up and keep in an insulated container and just sip away. Eating out: it’s a nice way for you to buy new clothes and show them off. your photos look so good. I’ll have to find mine. (But most are in my underwear or nothing and I’m not posting either of them.) I do have a photo where I’m in my pjs and I just show my belly and war wounds. I have lost a few cms everywhere since surgery #4.(Nov2nd) the surgeon told me repeatedly I would only loose 5kms this time. But things have been better. I see him on the 15th Feb for my month follow up since my issues. some have been resolved. I sprained my ankle walking. Which on ultrasound has shown I tore my perineal in my right foot and am only allowed to walk 10mins a day. So now I lug around a moonboot. This becoming a new person is pushing my boundaries. I'm away from home for 4 weeks straight (2 in our capital city, 1 in Sydney and then another week in capital city) so this will test my eating. I’m determined to not fall into bad habits. Just don’t know how much of a routine I can follow. my measurements and pics below the pics are in order. before op one op two op 4 today 4th Feb
  14. thank you! One of the surgeons that works in the weight management department of the clinic that I am going to is also a special is in esophageal procedures and studies. I think i see him on friday.
  15. Yes, make it clear to the doctor this revision is for treatment of your GERD and Tricare should go along with it. Reflux coming up your throat that far puts you at risk of aspirating it. I ended up in the ER with severe asthma attacks from that and got pneumonitis several times from acid burns in my lungs. It is NOT fun. This wouldn't be a second weight loss surgery, this would be a revision due to a medical problem that the surgery will treat. So it won't conflict with their "once per lifetime" clause.

Does this friend know about your stomach surgeries?? If so, I would have looked at them like they had lost their mind. And I would have told them if they ever voice their judgment about my eating habits again they'll lose the pleasure of sharing a meal with me. Yes, I can be a b***h. LOL But I grew up in a family of people with BAD boundaries. And this is a bad boundaries behavior. Our society is so preoccupied with weight loss and shaming fat people, then when we do something to change our bodies they judge us for that too. We can never get it right. I've decided people are going to judge me no matter what I do. So I do what I want. But I don't have to listen to their opinions of me!! My partner loves eating out in restaurants so I've had to adjust to that post surgery. But in general I'm doing fine with it. Most people in the restaurant never notice how much I eat. I don't get weird looks. The wait staff doesn't comment. The only odd response I got was a confused waitress when I said I wanted my Thai curry without any rice--I can't eat it, so why waste it?? The sweet owner at our favorite pho place puts veggies in my pho now because I can't have the noodles! That made my heart happy... But part of the reason I don't get any odd looks I think is because I eat relatively slowly, put my utensils down between bites, and generally take as long to eat my small portion as it takes my partner to eat their normal portion! Then we take home lots of leftovers, which is convenient considering I eat 5-6 times a day! LOL I'm sorry your friend opened their big mouth and said something stupid. I know you have struggled SO much with being able to eat, you would think they'd be celebrating the fact that you could eat ANYTHING at this point!! The best weight I have ever lost in my life has been the weight of other people's opinions, and sometimes, the weight of other people period! 😂

    Loose Skin

Babyspoons, do you get the cryotherapy on just your body or do they do your neck too? A very rude esthetician pointed out my turkey neck this week while I was roaming through the mall. I'm pretty self conscious about it because it is a hereditary thing in my family (along with jowls). I don't want to do a facelift in my early 40s so I am searching around to see what treatments might be available for me to do as I lose weight so I don't end up with quite as much loose skin there...

I'm on a bra fitting FB group and this complaint gets posted ALL THE TIME!! Usually by post nursing moms and weight loss patients. I too am really surprised no one has targeted this market with a cutlet thing that helps fill in that space and can be transferred from bra to bra! The prosthetics don't work because they are for a totally different breast issue. And push up bras can only do so much and sometimes make it look worse!!
  19. FWIW, dehydration will cause at least half the things on your list... I know it is hard, but you really have to hit that 64oz minimum as soon as possible. Dehydration is a major complication after WLS and it will do a number on your skin, make you tired and nauseous, contribute to dizziness, and worsen head hunger... You are only a few weeks out from a major surgery, low libido can take a while to rebound and the rapid weight loss releases bursts of hormones that cause mood swings, sometimes impacts our libido, make our cycles weird, and caused a few meltdowns in our house early post op. 😂 For the constipation try stool softeners combined with Miralax. These are non-stimulants so your system won't get addicted to them like it can the stimulant laxatives. Also, try increasing your fat a little. That might help with the dry skin and dry lips too. The post-op diets are extremely low fat, which made me super fatigued too.

I buy 6pk Hanes at Walmart and they are inexpensive. So, outgrowing them is not a problem to replace while I'm dropping sizes. Hanes Women's Cotton Bikini Underwear, 6-Pack - Walmart.com Bras are a bit harder to fit into...literally. I buy at thrift shops and will, until my weight stabilizes. I buy stretchy full cups and use bra extenders when needed. Sometimes the cup is right, but the smaller band sizes don't fit around me. I'm able to wear for longer periods of time using the extenders. I am now wearing a couple bras I bought a couple months ago. No longer spilling out of them and no longer needing the extenders. I'm having a harder time with pant sizes. I tried on jeans today I couldn't fit into a few weeks back. I guess I waited too long because now they are too big to even wear so they went into the donate pile. Makes me super happy :)

I've stuck to buying underwired bras - two at a time and only when the current bras were clearly ridiculously large - as I lost weight. I tried to buy reasonably cheap versions - sometimes that worked out and sometimes it didn't! I'm at goal now (regaining a little if anything) and buying 'forever' underwear, LOL. I've never needed anything officially compression but I know others prefer that. I don't mind a bit of saggy skin underneath my underwear. Nobody sees it!

My doctor is very kind and when I get emotional today he said that he wants me to remember how I felt seeing that number today. And that as long as it always goes down, one pound is a win. And he is right. We all get so wrapped up in the number rather than the feeling of all we have accomplished. The fact that all of us here worked so hard to get surgery and now are on this rollercoaster journey, only shows our strength. You’re doing amazing and know you will continue to! 1,5,7,18 etc…it’s all weight we no longer have to carry ever again 🖤

I bought so many knickers & bras as I lost weight cause of the sizes I dropped through. Baggy knickers & saggy bras are the worst. Buy the bare minimum. Who cares if you’re washing every couple of days. I did get properly fitted for bras on the way because of back pain - bras that fitted & back pain went. (I’m larger too & also need cups wider than many make.). I also bought Bonds/Hanes bralettes for around the house. They’re cheap & I can get them from the supermarket here in Australia. I went to Target for knickers. I didn’t/don’t wear any compression underwear so I can’t help you with that. I donated my proper bras as I dropped sizes. Couldn’t with my knickers though. All the best with your continued weight loss.

I was the same, first week was 3kg Ive been told by a physician who I work with that no more than 2kg a week is good moving forward is a great goal as it means your body won’t go into the natural starvation mode and try to hold onto the weight. Plus your body is doing it slowly which is good re rapid weight loss problems also. I also felt sad about how slow it is going but we will get there I’m 3 weeks post op and I’ve only been loosing 1.3kg a week roughly.
  25. I'm hoping to get a revision to a bypass for gerd and sleep apnea if that is a possible. I called tricare and the lady said that they only cover 1 weight loss surgery in the lifetime or the person. Any experience with getting approved with tricare select?
