  1. Mrswrath, I could not stomach the protein drinks either. I ordered GENEPRO on of amazon,it is supposed to be odorless and tasteless, and it is for the most part. I mix it with swiss miss sugar free hot cocoa and it is definetely easier to get down. in phase 3 I got to start making it with skim milk instead of water, even better!

    Anyone Use Genepro?

Love Genepro! I put it in yogurt, sugar free pudding, Soup. Anything liquid, it's great I buy it on EBay or Amazon for best price. The 90 serving size is best price. Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App
  3. They were sued for labeling that was confusing/misleading and it went to court and there was a judgement reached. Your ignorance and attitude is more then likely how you ended up where you did. As another member here replied: "UCLA recommends GENEPRO to all their patients" so i guess you are smarter and possess more knowledge then the staff and Dr's at UCLA medical center? Lose your attitude and open your mind and you might be a lot happier in your life...or maybe not as you might just be one of those miserable people that point their finger at everybody else instead of looking in the mirror when it comes to their issues. ??? Good luck to you!

    November 2018 Sleevers!?!?

I got genepro but I am not even sure I will need it lol the shakes are giving me my 60 grams of protein so that is not bad, I think I am going to have to try some smooth move later today if you know what I mean lol but today everything is going down easy and I have no doubt I will make my full liquids!
  5. 2 weeks and 4 days. OMG. It's finally almost here. I can't believe my heart actually did a little "skip" when I saw my own ticker. Preop with the surgeon on Wednesday, then 1 week of liquids, then BAM! Surgery Day! WOW. As hard as I have worked to jump through all the hoops, and read everything in the world that has been written about VSG, and watch all the you tube videos (some more than once), it's nearly here. Holy cra@p! It's ok, though. I'm ready. I need this. I will have the utmost respect for my sleeve, and I will lose this weight and get healthy. I am down to only 2 pair of jeans that fit. I will just have to handle them with care, cuz I refuse to buy anything in the size I am today. I have closets full of clothes in step down sizes in jeans (and everything else) that are still practically new. Deep breath, and keep on keeping on. 4/23 is going to be here before I know it. It might be time for me to start gathering some of the necessities I'm going to need once I'm home. No sense in rushing out the day before, and risk forgetting something. Like Gas-x. I hear I'll need that. Biotene mouth spray, I've heard that comes in handy in the hospital. I have the Protein shakes and powders I like....plus my (really) unflavored GENEPRO I can mix into anything to get my protein in on liquids only. What else? What have I forgotten?
  6. For all you September Sleevers just like me on FB look for September Sleevers 2017... it's a place you can share your thoughts, concerns, and be supportive with each other. I was sleeved on 9/15 everything was smooth for me no meds after the hospital for me. I am able to write my elliptical and on purée foods I started 218 and at 203 right now. The only problem I had was I couldn't stand my shakes so I ended up buying genepro from GNC it literally has no taste and 30 grams on protein per scoop. You can add it to your water, soup, broth basically anything... Good Luck Sleevers! We got this!![emoji3]
  7. Please read the Genepro thread on here. It doesn't have 30 g of protein per scoop, it actually has 10g. They claim its 3x more bio available so it's EQUIVALENT to 30g of another brand, but the science is questionable or at least unverified by independent research. Just FYI. I can't do premier either before or after surgery. Tastes plastic to me. I use Syntrax and BSN powders and the occasional premade Atkins or GNC Lean.

    Any February Sleevers?

Isopure makes an unflavored one as well as genepro Sent from my SM-G950U using BariatricPal mobile app
  9. Court ruled and they changed the label and UCLA medical center and LOTS of other Dr's recommend the GENEPRO protein above all others! Thats a fact! Label has been changed on GENEPRO 3 and old label states it is equivalent too what you would absorb out of 30 grams of protein via whey protein. Protein is solid and labelling stunk so it was changed! LOL! 30 grams of whey protein will only net you approx 10 grams of protein as the absorption rate is horrible! 1 tablespoon nets you over 10 grams of protein that will actually be absorbed by your body vs ingesting 30 grams of whey that your body will expel over 60% of! WHY WOULD YOU PUT YOUR BODY THRU THAT? LOL!
  10. Report away! No personal attack at all, just factual and truthful reply to A RUDE POSTING! LOL! What ever goes on, the truth hurts unfortunately and LOTS of people would rather pop off with an attitude in response to the truth instead of receiving the truth and doing something with it to improve thier lives and condition. Posting a tick tock reply with rude sentiment isnt a personal attack? Thats some more of that defensive EMOTIONAL response that will keep people like that in a vicious cycle that will never be broken until they face the facts, period. So you think its a one way street here when it comes to these postings? If, so part of the problem and not helping to find a solution. My inital posting was serious and meant to help people struggling to understand the Genepro thing so they could get on with being healthy! I didnt come out of the blue with defensive postings but i wont sit around and let 12,000 plus poster be rude to me because they think they can and again, all ive done in replying to that member is state the truth and facts. Sorry if the truth and facts bother you.
  11. If you READ the postings properly then would know that your own member TOMO stated that the UCLA med center recommends GENEPRO to ALL their bariatric patients and they also posted the link to UCLA backing their claim! I didnt state that fact...TOMO did. Again, If you READ the postings then you would know that i have never used GENEPRO protein nor do i know anybody affiliated with the company, but i do know two people that have used this product with with great success and have read about dozens more on this very website. My initial posting was about all the false garbage and plain false statements being made about the product. I did read up on the company and the entire lawsuit and the courts findings as well so i do know what true and whats not. Again, If you read the postings you would know i dont bully but i wont BE bullied either and the truth hurts sometimes! Im taking care of business and im helping people all the time to get healthy and fit with zero kick back to me other then Im always happy to see people achieve happiness in their lives and being PHYSICALLY FIT always, always helps people to be happy! Piss and moan all you want...insult all you want and tell us all about how you know everything about everything when it comes to nutrition and health because YOU HAVE BEEN A NURSE FOR 20 YEARS, yet you have your own health issues? You should slow down your negativity yourself and go for a walk to work off some of that...negativity. Soon to be fit??? Your are a nurse so you of all people should know that when it comes to getting fit, waiting around for magic beans wont do you any good at all...get after it and put the work in. Hope all goes well for you and i hope you are able to get rid of all that... negative and hostile anxiety. As far as trolling goes...you are the one spouting nonsense and misinformation, not me. God Bless!
  12. Genepro is endorsed and recommended by many medical facilities, including UCLA School of Medicine to all their bariatric patients. The science is sound but people believe whatever they want to believe. http://surgery.ucla.edu/workfiles/bariatrics/healthy-eating/UCLA-Post-Op-Diet-Updated-2021.pdf

    I like unjury and genepro

    What soups?

@@eso GENEPRO is my favorite. If you buy it, make sure you go to the Musclegen Research website, they have great instructions for how to best blend it into different temperature foods.
  15. Genepro lost a lawsuit over misleading labeling regarding the protein content. It never had 30 grams of protein in 7 grams of product. The "new" Genepro is the same product without the falsification.

    Late December Sleevers?

Had surgery on Dec 27th. Every day does get easier. My main issue now is one incision that still hurts when getting up and down or turning. I have found that the flavorless protein like genepro is so much easier then trying to get the protein shakes down. Can mix with anything from water, to soup, to yogurt. I am lucky no nausea or vomiting. Gas pain was horrible but it is better now. I am experiencing very low energy levels I guess body just adjusting to new diet and healing. Ready to be healed and start losing weight.

Genepro- 30 grams of protein/serving untrue?

I went ahead and purchased a package of GENEPRO on Amazon yesterday morning. With the same day free Amazon Prime time shipping, it was delivered by 7pm. I was initially shocked how small the package was for $38. It holds one pound (30 servings.) For you visual types, this is about the same power volume you get in one container in unjury Protein powder. I was also questioning why they charged tax. Isn't this considered a food? Lol. Maybe it's so engineered they can't consider it a food any more ???? On the front of the package it states, "30G Protein* per 1 TBSP serving. Please note the asterisk. Below the asterisk states EQUIVALENT. I am not a scientist, but came across some reviews questioning what exactly this stuff is made out of. The package claims the product has not been evaluated by the FDA and isn't meant to diagnose, treat or cure any disease. I was unable to locate any independent research studies online backing up the company's claims, so the only information I have to go on regarding the products reliability is BP user reviews who claim their labs came back awesome. Still, I have to wonder, if this stuff is so awesome, why is it only available on the company website and on Amazon? Wouldn't GNC and gyms be crawling all over each other to stock up on this stuff? I personally found unflavored UNJURY disgusting... But there is peace of mind knowing it is medical quality protein used in hospitals. For comparison, a scoop of their product has 21 grams of protein. Taste and performance wise I will give this stuff a 10 out of 10. It is a fine powder and I can't taste it at all. I poured a scoop into my morning coffee and it mixed right in. Not a clump in site. Not one aftertaste. I took a sip to confirm before adding in my flavored creamer to be sure! I am likely to use it because it doesn't taste bad. I will continue to use it in my coffee for that reason. I have 3 unopened containers of unflavored Unjury in my cabinet one year later. That stuff clumps up in your coffee and leaves a horrible after taste. I ended up not eating/drinking whatever I added it to. I am 14 months post-op at goal and looking to add more protein as I want to add more muscle tone to my body. I've become kinda lax with the protein the last several months so looking for easy ways to increase it. I will let you know if this helps!

Genepro- 30 grams of protein/serving untrue?

I have been using it for aproximately 10 months. I have read all the negatives but I can tell you I love it and it works for me. A gentleman that worked for the company contacted me after reading I was having a hard time getting my Protein in after surgery. Stated his mother inlaw used it after her surgery....he even sent me some samples. With GENEPRO I have been able to keep my protein level up to the 120 that I need with a DS. I still have a real hard time with most meats. Since I have been able to keep my protein up and have kept up with my Vitamins I have not lost any of my hair (I was expecting to since I did lose all of my hair with a previous surgery). My hair is back thick like it was when I was young and it is curly and I have never had curly hair!!! Just stating this has worked for me I have no complaints.....I count it as 30gm of protein....I mix it with Crystal Light Lemonade and keep it on my desk and sip on it all day....If I'm a little short at the end of the day....I mix another one and take it to bed with me and sip on it all night.....I get Water in at the same time.
  19. Can you have broth with Genepro (unflavored protein)? My surgeon requires Bariatrics Advantage shakes.

    Food Before and After Photos

Excuse the crummy photos. First up is a veggie and cheese frittata I made for the week. Veggies are asparagus, baby portobellos, and leaks. Used about 4 oz pre-shredded Swiss-Gruyere cheese blend from Trader Joe’s. Each square is about 150kcals. Yummy. Second up is my green protein smoothie. Also about 150 kcals made with A scoop of Genepro in a cup of water, half a frozen banana (I weigh before freezing for tracking), about a cup of raw spinach, 0.5 tablespoons of chia seeds, some stevia, and a few ice cubes. I have one most days. Not exciting tasting, but I am somewhat addicted to them 🤷‍♀️
