What protein powder are you using? I like Genepro but they are late in the shipment and my soy protein isolate tastes really, really, funny. Glad you are doing well!

Genepro Protein Powder- yeah or nay?
etc. etc. etc. replied to EndlessGoals#2018's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
There's a thread about Genepro here already that is probably worth reading: The money quote is this: "[They] claim that 1 tablespoon of their product contains 30 grams of Protein when the tablespoon itself only holds 15 grams." -
Suggestions for blenderized diet
lizonaplane replied to JCF's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
Many people like Genepro protein. I have used it to add protein to soups and oatmeal even though I haven't had surgery yet. One thing to make sure is that you're adding the protein per the directions (don't heat the protein: mix the powder with a small amount of lukewarm water before adding it to your food). Good luck! -
What if GENEPRO Protein and Coffee had a baby?
shedo82773 replied to Alex Brecher's topic in Food and Nutrition
How well I know about this!! I have used and continue to use GENEPRO, but I got told and they tried to put me in my place about it not being possible. When I stated that BARIATRICPAL sold it they said it is a money maker!! Any how I am going to try this I love my coffee which I add to my espresso every day. So for me it is a win win!! -
July 2021 Surgery People!

Hi Mama Des, Congrats on the surgery. I'm sorry to hear you are in so much pain, and so hungry. I'm not sure what your allowed and what you have tried, but here are some things I am going to try after surgery (and am using now, pre op): broth (w/ or w/out genepro), s.f. jello (genepro can be added here, too), s.f. electrolyte drink mix, s.f. popsicles, s.f. drink mixes, and once in full liquid stage s.f. yogurt & farina/cream of wheat thinned with milk. I had a sample of a broth that was made by Bariatric fusion, it was pretty tasty. The nectar protein drinks have some flavors that seem more like juice, lemon aid, fruit punch or iced tea. I haven't tried those yet. I hope you find something to make this phase easier, good luck, & tell us if you find anything that worked for you. -
Had surgery on Dec 27th. Every day does get easier. My main issue now is one incision that still hurts when getting up and down or turning. I have found that the flavorless protein like genepro is so much easier then trying to get the protein shakes down. Can mix with anything from water, to soup, to yogurt. I am lucky no nausea or vomiting. Gas pain was horrible but it is better now. I am experiencing very low energy levels I guess body just adjusting to new diet and healing. Ready to be healed and start losing weight.

Food Before and After Photos
WishMeSmaller replied to GreenTealael's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Excuse the crummy photos. First up is a veggie and cheese frittata I made for the week. Veggies are asparagus, baby portobellos, and leaks. Used about 4 oz pre-shredded Swiss-Gruyere cheese blend from Trader Joe’s. Each square is about 150kcals. Yummy. Second up is my green protein smoothie. Also about 150 kcals made with A scoop of Genepro in a cup of water, half a frozen banana (I weigh before freezing for tracking), about a cup of raw spinach, 0.5 tablespoons of chia seeds, some stevia, and a few ice cubes. I have one most days. Not exciting tasting, but I am somewhat addicted to them 🤷♀️ -
Genpro has changed, anyone try Piping Rock Whey Protein Isolate Powder?
SeahawksFan replied to OKCPirate's topic in Protein, Vitamins, and Supplements
Would love to hear your feedback after you've tried this. I have been using GENEPRO every morning in my coffee. I couldn't stand unjury so I would hate to buy a can of this and throw it away. Thanks- LA -
Glad to hear you didn't have much pain, I am sooo nervous! Have you tried any unflavored protein? I like the Genepro, barely has a taste in flavored water or gatorade. And you only need 1 tbs for 30g of protein.

September Sleevers- How are you feeling??
mikala3672 replied to Ash_Bri85's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
For all you September Sleevers just like me on FB look for September Sleevers 2017... it's a place you can share your thoughts, concerns, and be supportive with each other. I was sleeved on 9/15 everything was smooth for me no meds after the hospital for me. I am able to write my elliptical and on purée foods I started 218 and at 203 right now. The only problem I had was I couldn't stand my shakes so I ended up buying genepro from GNC it literally has no taste and 30 grams on protein per scoop. You can add it to your water, soup, broth basically anything... Good Luck Sleevers! We got this!![emoji3] -
thanks ladies! @@Beni the doctor told me to go play the lotto lmao. the hematologists said the risk of bleeding out outweighs the risk of my clot not dissolving and they said no more blood thinners for me. they actually said it should dissolve faster now that my blood count is low. i just went for a walk to the post office to get my measuring bowl that i bought, i wasnt really measuring food now i am going to start. its funny i thought i was eating 2oz of cheese and after measuring it was only 1.5 lol. and i measured some salad and a lot of lettuce is like 1oz lol. beni, im on the same boat with you eating 2oz of food, it didnt concern my surgeon. i supplement with genepro and a water/juice concoction. they also want me to get 90 grams of protein now instead of 70, blah looks like 2 concoctions and 30 grams towards food throughout the day to make it.

I notice that you drink coffee, I put unflavored GENEPRO, every day in my ESPRESSO. For me, it is a win-win because I would drink my ESPRESSO anyway. -
Genepro clumpy - how to mix
OzRoo replied to SOON_TO_BE_THIN's topic in Protein, Vitamins, and Supplements
Following, as I am waiting for my shipment of Genepro to arrive. Definitely want to use it in my coffee. Thanks all for the tips! -
Yay!! Sounds delicious!! I bought some tiny little tupperware bowls that are about 1 cup. Love them! I'm enjoying a 1 egg omelet with the genepro unflavored protein ( i also love this stuff! Much better than the Unjur.y unflavored!) I also added a sprinkled of freshly shredded cheese. ( I don't use the packaged shredded anymore, after I read that they add a sawdust type material to it. Ick!) Mmmmm. So good!

It dawned on me at about 2AM this morning that I forgot to buy more eggs last night. So I started to panic, "What am I going to make for Breakfast?" Normally I'd just go to Subway and get a breakfast sandwich, LOL..but that's not happening now! So I had 1 yogurt left, threw that in my little Ninja with about 4oz of OJ and a few frozen strawberries and my GENEPRO unflavored protein. It took me a good 45 mins to get it down, but it really was yummy! My belly didn't like the cold so much at first. But I'd hold it in my mouth a few seconds and then swallow, LOL! For lunch, I'm having pureed chicken breast that I make last night. (added a little mayo and a spoon of veggie cream cheese--yum!!) and some pureed cauliflower and mashed taters. Barely getting the taters and cauliflower down though. I'm stuffed! I've heard about that cauliflower pizza crust, I've always wanted to try it too! I totally agree--some toast would be amazing. My 21yr old daughter and I were chatting on the phone today talking about Thanksgiving plans and I can't stop thinking of stuffing!!

I mixed the 2oz stage 1 baby bananas with 15 ml vitamins and 15g genepro. My doctor says that the protein supplements a drink also count toward the 60 ounces of liquid I need a day
-
I have been getting my extra protein in by eating yogurt two times a day with a scoop of Genepro protein added to it. This was the only way that I could get it in. I don't like the shakes or the protein bars. I try to eat a little beef jerky during the day as well. Protein has been a bit of a struggle for me.

Genepro- 30 grams of protein/serving untrue?
Bluesea71 replied to Bluesea71's topic in Food and Nutrition
I went ahead and purchased a package of GENEPRO on Amazon yesterday morning. With the same day free Amazon Prime time shipping, it was delivered by 7pm. I was initially shocked how small the package was for $38. It holds one pound (30 servings.) For you visual types, this is about the same power volume you get in one container in unjury Protein powder. I was also questioning why they charged tax. Isn't this considered a food? Lol. Maybe it's so engineered they can't consider it a food any more ???? On the front of the package it states, "30G Protein* per 1 TBSP serving. Please note the asterisk. Below the asterisk states EQUIVALENT. I am not a scientist, but came across some reviews questioning what exactly this stuff is made out of. The package claims the product has not been evaluated by the FDA and isn't meant to diagnose, treat or cure any disease. I was unable to locate any independent research studies online backing up the company's claims, so the only information I have to go on regarding the products reliability is BP user reviews who claim their labs came back awesome. Still, I have to wonder, if this stuff is so awesome, why is it only available on the company website and on Amazon? Wouldn't GNC and gyms be crawling all over each other to stock up on this stuff? I personally found unflavored UNJURY disgusting... But there is peace of mind knowing it is medical quality protein used in hospitals. For comparison, a scoop of their product has 21 grams of protein. Taste and performance wise I will give this stuff a 10 out of 10. It is a fine powder and I can't taste it at all. I poured a scoop into my morning coffee and it mixed right in. Not a clump in site. Not one aftertaste. I took a sip to confirm before adding in my flavored creamer to be sure! I am likely to use it because it doesn't taste bad. I will continue to use it in my coffee for that reason. I have 3 unopened containers of unflavored Unjury in my cabinet one year later. That stuff clumps up in your coffee and leaves a horrible after taste. I ended up not eating/drinking whatever I added it to. I am 14 months post-op at goal and looking to add more protein as I want to add more muscle tone to my body. I've become kinda lax with the protein the last several months so looking for easy ways to increase it. I will let you know if this helps! -
Genepro- 30 grams of protein/serving untrue?
TEXASLADY52 replied to Bluesea71's topic in Food and Nutrition
I have been using it for aproximately 10 months. I have read all the negatives but I can tell you I love it and it works for me. A gentleman that worked for the company contacted me after reading I was having a hard time getting my Protein in after surgery. Stated his mother inlaw used it after her surgery....he even sent me some samples. With GENEPRO I have been able to keep my protein level up to the 120 that I need with a DS. I still have a real hard time with most meats. Since I have been able to keep my protein up and have kept up with my Vitamins I have not lost any of my hair (I was expecting to since I did lose all of my hair with a previous surgery). My hair is back thick like it was when I was young and it is curly and I have never had curly hair!!! Just stating this has worked for me I have no complaints.....I count it as 30gm of protein....I mix it with Crystal Light Lemonade and keep it on my desk and sip on it all day....If I'm a little short at the end of the day....I mix another one and take it to bed with me and sip on it all night.....I get Water in at the same time. -
I know every program is different but my dr warned me NOT to use GENEPRO, as he believed it doesn’t contain the protein it says and can lead to serious problems. Just an FYI. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

MINI GASTRIC BYPASS AND ACID REFLUX
Frustr8 replied to NYCGAL000's topic in Mini Gastric Bypass Surgery Forum
Tablet, my cheap PartD drug coverer, Silver Scripts, won't pay for liquid, so I dissolve, stir and drink the slurrey down, about as tasty as drinking white flour paste. Dr Noria, my surgeon's partner who does my endoscopies, Dr Needleman my actual Surgeon and one of the Nurse-Practioners, Valerie, all gave, me a script for the same thing, I now have 253 in bottles, Wal-Mart Pharmacy called to remind it was time for a refill of another 120, now where do they expect me to keep these? Now I know why some people sell their meds, these are cluttering up my pill dresser. Yeah I have one of those, top drawer is current meds , second drawer is Miralax, Benfiber and 1 package of Genepro. The Gold Standard 100% whey isolate was going there too, got it on sale at Wal-Mart for $3.00, joke is on me, the individual envelopes are Strawberry, not plain. Imagine what it would have been like if I stirred into soup or broth! And the bottom drawer is inactive meds, nope no opiods, I still have Norco up in the active, but I have to be backed up against the wall in pain, it constipates me so freely. Sometime I will relate the Trek to the Milk and Molasses Enema, really harder to live through than my actual surgery, nobody wants to be entered on records as" Little Old Lady full of S***", pretty darn demeaning in the ER . Hated them knowing I didn't have my act together FECAL-wise!
