    The Infamous Pre-Op Diet..

I was allowed 4 shakes a day, raw veg, a half cup of non-fat yogurt& lots of non calorie beverages. The shakes really keep you full, and the drinks keep your mouth busy.

    The Infamous Pre-Op Diet..

Ok so I am only allowed sugar free/ zero calorie drinks, one sugar free pudding, one sugar free jello, one low carb yogurt like carbmaster from Kroger and protein shakes a day!! No chewable foods at all..... I know this is going to be challenging hoping I can fight through!!!
  3. I grew rather fond of a couple oz. yogurt with just a bit of peanut butter stirred in, as a little protein upgrade, as I was not getting my protein load at the time.
  4. I started at 260 and am to whatever my ticker says now over about a month. I did a low calorie diet for two weeks, then a pseudo liquid diet for two weeks prior to surgery (most days was two protein shakes, one protein bar, and two yogurts). I did have three normal meals during my pseudo liquid, but maintained a diet mentality so did not pig out like I would have in the past. since surgery on the 20th, I have done pureed soups, sugar free pudding, protein shakes, and yogurts. Tonight I had some soft noodles because I flew into another state for a work conference and there weren't any soups at the buffet dinner.
  5. I am preband. I also have had episodes where I am so hungry and blood sugar has fallen (not diabetic) where I get light headed and feel faint. This however really only happens when I have not eaten for like 7 hours; which really is pretty stupid on my part. True, this is usually due to scheduling issues at work or being on vacation and not having ready access to food. I am pre band and am on a pretty strick self imposed diet around 1,000 cal. a day. I do an hour of cardio a day. I do try to keep my blood sugar steady by having a high Protein low fat/calorie snack late afternoon (greek yogurt, chicken, string cheese). My surgeon does not really believe in the low blood sugar thing but I know it's true. My regular size sister has the same problem as did my father.

    Having vsg Sept 8 2017

I'm on day 2 of liquids. I'm doing 3 premier protein shakes a day, broth, sf jello and tea, my surgeon also wants 6oz of nonfat plain Greek yogurt daily... but I was really hungry today and dragging...I had 3oz of chicken and a hard boiled egg white at dinner

    Pre-op diet

For ME while I was on liquids, I tried really hard to do LowCarb Liquids like protien shakes, yogurt, SF pudding, SF Jello, SF poplsicles, also had chicken broth and tomatoe Soup GOOD LUCK!
  8. Has anyone found a brand of yogurt we can have?? Even the plain Greek yogurts I have found have 5 grams of sugar, isn't that to much? Thanks!

    Greek Yogurt

I like Danon Greek and Mueller Greek, you should not have it with fruit in it I think. Get vanilla or plain fat free. The more expensive mueller isn't mixed with its fruit content and can be eaton seperatley as plain yogurt out of the side of the carton its stored in, tastes real good. I think Yoplait is the best with sugar and calories, 100 cal greek yogurt, just tastes like regular yoplait, I don't like it so much but it should be passable for sure. They do have X2 Protein Greek yogurt too you know ? btw, the Yoplait is probably the only one you'd want of the 3.

Make It a Healthy Autumn: A Few Tips for Parents – and Other Busy SleevePlicationTalk.com Members! Okay, we know that the autumn is a busy time of year. If you’re a parent, your children are back in school and their activities are in full swing. You may be juggling work with your chauffeuring, catering and cleaning business – aka, taking care of your family! Most of us are pretty busy even if we’re not parents. It’s easy to use not having enough time as an excuse for getting off track with your weight loss. You might eat foods that you know you shouldn’t because you feel you just can’t squeeze in the time to prepare a healthy snack. We’ve all done it. You rush out the door in the morning and are busy all day. Some of these happen along the way. You are starving by lunchtime and grab a few truffles that make you nauseous. you dumping syndrome. You go by the vending machine for a soft drink that’ll make you feel sick within minutes. You realize at the end of the day that you haven’t stopped to drink for hours, and you have a headache and your stomach hurts. You know you should be eating lean Protein, but the closest thing you can find is pepperoni from the company’s pepperoni pizza – so to be polite, you eat the entire slice and it causes an obstruction. You start to depend on Protein shakes because those are the closest thing to a healthy meal that you can find at the company cafeteria. You don’t have to let a hectic schedule get in the way of your health! What can you do about it? Here are a few tips to make the most out of every day Prepare some of your meals and Snacks at the beginning of the week. Wash your fruits and vegetables so they’re easy to prepare when you need them. Cook some your Proteins - chicken breast, fish, seafood, lean beef and/or veggie burgers – and freeze them in single-serving baggies or containers. Cook up bigger batches, put them in single-serving containers and freeze them so you can defrost them when you’re ready to eat them. This is a great option for healthy side dishes, such as whole wheat Pasta, carrots or Beans. (You don’t have to make too much, since your single portions post-surgery are pretty small). Place snacks in single-serving bags if you buy a multi-serving package Plan your Breakfast the night before so you don’t have to think about it in the morning. Take the time to make a grocery list. It’ll save you time in the end. Using a list will keep you from forgetting foods and needing to go back to the store during the week. You’ll be faster in the store because you won’t get distracted. Sticking to a list will keep you from buying foods you shouldn’t. Buy ingredients for breakfast Buy snack foods Make sure you drink enough. Stash Water bottles in your car and at work and keep them filled. It’ll encourage you to drink throughout the day and you won’t have to take the time to run to the kitchen each time you need to drink. Stick a pitcher of water in the fridge so you see it several times a day. Keep healthy snacks at work so you never find yourself starving with nothing healthy to eat. Beef Jerky and canned tuna, chicken, beans, vegetables keep for months. Frozen foods to consider keeping around include grilled chicken and fish, veggie burgers and vegetables. Yogurt, low-fat cheese, cottage cheese and deli meats are high-protein snacks to keep in the fridge for a week or more. The more you plan, the better off you’ll be. You’ll save time and be more likely to eat well. And remember – you’re worth it! We suggest picking one or two strategies and working on them until you master them, then moving on to a new tip. Let us know how helpful the tips are! That’s a lot to chew on for this newsletter, so we’re going to end it here. There’s no end to the news, tips and conversations over at SleevePlicationTalk.com, so come on over via your computer, smartphone or Kindle! You can always check out the old newsletters, too, in the Newsletter Forum. Thanks for coming along in this newsletter and for being part of our fantastic community! We couldn’t do it without you. Protein Shake (yuck!)

Try add crushed ice,in blender, makes it thicker and then I use suger free flavoring ( like for coffee). vanilla, carmel, whatever you like. Greek yogurt can thinken it and add protein too, but wil cut the sweetness and may be too sour for that favor. good luck
  15. My surgeon doesn't recommend counting calories, just making sure I'm getting 60-70g Protein and 64 oz Water a day. I've been tracking my input with MFP and I'm very curious how many calories other folks are consuming after surgery. Most days I'm between 400-500 calories (basically I have one Protein Drink and two Oikos Triple Zero yogurts a day) and I'm 3 weeks out from RnY.

    Protein

I just had surgery Monday! How long is a long time until I can get Protein from food? I can have drinkable yogurt right now! This is just very tough and I feel myself crying and just wanting to be normal (is that a normal thing to go thru)? I'm only 22 and I just feel like I'm never going to be normal again then I see my boyfriend eating food and I don't really feel hungry I just want something to eat and chew you know! Sorry for whining!

    Eating post op

Mine was April 25 and I've not been hungry. Forcing myself to drink protein shakes and today, I added yogurt. I was told after two weeks, I could introduce soft foods...eggs, tuna, etc.
  18. Today makes day 2 of my liquid diet. I stayed over night in the hospital last night after the surgery. Today I am home and I am starving.. I think. Im still sore and gassy but I question is when do you start stage 2? I tell myself I am going to wait a few more days and just stay on the clear liquid diet but the hungry side of me wants yogurt, or sf pudding, or a Protein shake..lol I go Thursday to my post op Dr. visit. Any suggestions?

    Sweet tooth

I've had sweet things but don't count them as "slips". Protein shakes, fruit, yogurt, pudding, fruit drinks (like crystal light, and Popsicles have all been plenty sweet.

    Im Starving..

I agree with Jen, skip the Banana- you need protein. I know it is hard when you are still on soft but go with greek yogurt if you can or ask the NUT or doctor.

    Example of Food Quantities

Considering you're not banded yet, you would still be hungry. A cup of yogurt takes me at least 15 -20 minutes to eat and it is quite filling. No worries!

    Clear Liquids After Surgery

I'm allowed protein shakes, any soup that's blended and yogurt smoothies, and then Popsicles, crystal light, etc The soup makes it so much better! So excited its your turn!!!!
  24. I have a 3 & 4 year old with picky palates so it's fruits, yogurts, spaghetti, nuggets, etc. For my husband, I made up some favorites then froze in portions. I also plan to make things such as a pot of spaghetti and meatballs that he can eat from for a few days. If he wants something else, he can either cook his own dinner or get take out. I think he is planning to eat bigger lunches at work and have a lighter dinner. My 8 month old will be on a similar diet as me LOL. Takes him about 20 minutes to eat 3 oz of blended food so he'll be my company at mealtime
  25. I am 11 weeks out and this is an example of my daily meal plan: Breakfast: Light n Fit Dannon Green yogurt (Blueberry or Strawberry) with half a scoop unjury unflavored Protein powder mixed in. 1 lf cheese stick. Lunch: 2oz Turkey Breast 1 lf cheese stick FF french onion dip Melba Toast (4) Dinner: Sam's chicken meatballs (3) Cucumbers (about 6 slices peeled) ff french onion dip Then I have at least one Protein Drink of some kind. I usually like Syntax nectar drinks that you mix with 16 oz of Water. So I am getting 23 grams of protein and 16 oz of water at the same time.
