    Sh*t Just Got Real :-)

Sounds like your questions are getting answered. good luck to you. my date is Sept. 10. saggy skin? heard some people recover well. depends on age and genetics. working out also helps to replace the area with muscle. I figure I'd rather have loose skin than be morbidly obese. hope you find some Protein that you like.

Day of Lap Band Surgery Time Frame?

Just had my surgery on 1/18/06! I remember exactally how you're feeling!! Here goes! Surgery was scheduled for 8:30am 6:45am Check in at hospital/Prep for Surgery (Put in IV, paperwork.....) 8:00 a.m. Anastesiologist visited me 8:20am Dr. Lopez came to see if hubby and I had any ???'s 8:30am TO THE ER!!! 10:00 a.m. Waking up and heading to recovery 11:00 Leaving recovery heading to my room (I was awake the whole time in recovery/pain very minimal) 12:10pm Hubby & I were walking the halls (they told me to go home I had to walk/pee/do barium swollow test) 1:00pm barium swollow test---it was weired! LOL! Afternoon drinking liquids Had 1/2 dose of pain med at 1:00 and 1/2 before dismissal At 3pm waiting for the doc to release me 5:00 pm on my way home! Believe me when I tell you that this is by FAR the EASIEST surgery I could imagine. I've had a c-section and gallbladder (the open way! yick) and this was a snap. I only took 1/2 doses of pain med. Took one on night of surgery and 1/2 the next mid-morning, 1/2 night after surgery at bedtime and that was it. I was walking up and down the street for exercise, doing my liquids and resting. I went into the office 2 days post op for several hours. Today's my first fill...Kinda nervous about that but ready to get the weight loss show on the road! LOL! Good luck and keep your smile!
  3. Bandit I have to laugh cause otherwise I would be crying and gnashing my teeth. Oh wait I have done that already too. lOL!!! OH well. I have to correct my post. I looked the report again and it does say I had a 10cm (not cc) Inamed Lapband placed. I mis read the report. I thought it was saying I had a 10 cc instead of the 4cc. The 10cm band does not refer to the amount of saline it will hold. It is the size of the band. So I apologize for making an erroneous statement. LOL!! OOPS!!!

You'll do great. I got my lapband 10 months ago - I down 103lbs. It feels great. I am older than you and wish that I had done it sooner.
  7. Hi all, I am just sitting here playing with the clock and calendar and wondering what I'll be eating by my birthday, Thanksgiving, Christmas, etc. My surgery was 10-03-11, and since I'm still on liquids I feel like I am marking time to get to the next level. I walk, read, surf the net etc., but even though I know it's one day at a time, I wonder what everyone is doing to fill their days beside making shakes, pudding, and taking their vitamins. I guess going out to eat and being with friends on the wekend is out for a while. So in the meantime I will be doing _____________________. (Please fill in the blank and be nice.) THANKS!
  8. THis is it... Im getting banded tommorow 8/6/10............ Wow excited, scared, nervous... Anyone have any advice for feelings post op? Thanks
  9. I'm 5 weeks out. And personally, a new band every 10 years would be worth it to me. I guess I was wondering what your immediate impressions are of the band post op? I was frustrated immediately following the surgery. You don't have restriction at that point... you still get hungry (or at least I did). I had swelling for 2 weeks, so wasn't starving, but after that I could have eaten a horse! Thank goodness for fills! People warn you that the first 6 weeks is for healing & that any weight you lose during that time is from will-power & is a gift... but you don't realize it until you're in it. It's a long time! And of course everyone you've told is looking for your weight loss, lol, and you're sitting still. Irritating. Are you amazed? I am amazed at how quickly the pain faded. At the time, it seemed unending, but it really was gone quickly. I wasn't this far along this quickly after knee surgery! Currently, after my first fill, I'm amazed at not being hungry. I know I'm still able to eat more then I "should", but it's SO much less then I used to eat. I can be patient & wait for my fills to limit my eating further. What a tool! Are you disappointed? I was disappointed with myself & my will power during the healing period (I didn't limit my calories at ALL, lol). I'm not disappointed with the band at all. It's too early to tell, but it seems to be working amazingly! Are you tickled pink? Maybe light pink, lol. I am excited & thrilled to think that this is actually going to work. That even if I cheat... even if I binge... the band will limit how much damage I can do. What a blessing! Are you mourning food? Yes. I don't think I was really prepared mentally. I'm not sure there is a way to GET prepared. You don't know how you'll react until it's gone. I can actually eat anything I want -- bread, Pasta, rice, steak, you name it. But I can't eat as MUCH as I want, lol. It irritates me, lol. I'm sure I'll get over it in time... I'm working on it!

    Lap Band Abroad

Don't know if anyone can help????? Had my Inamed Lap Band System 3 weeks ago IN GERMANY and the Doc thought they had someone to do my fills here in Arizona. Turns out they are having a lot of trouble so I am looking on my own. Anyone know if there are any docs in the states that will do adjustments on me. I would think that if they can do fills on post-ops from Mexico they could do it on me with the proper post-op reports/info. I will check with docs found in the forum but wondered if anyone else has experienced this. ANYONE HELP!! :omg: Celeste Banded 03/01/06

    April 23, 2006

I am now three years post op. Man has alot changed in three years. I cant believe how fast time flies. It really is crazy. I was banded on April 11, 2003. I weighed 235-240 I did awesome listening to the band and working with it. I lost down to 160 and i was feeling awesome! I started dating, met my husband and life was wonderful. I dont know where i started to slide. I started trying to eat more when we went to dinner. I started drinking with my meals and figured out if i drink with them i can eat more. I dont know what happend. I just really wanted to be normal. My husband and i were working out on a very regular basis. Dieting good. (he is into bodybuilding... so he had me eating like i was an athelete...lol) I realized that i was gonna hurt myself and my band if i continuted this way, so i went to the doctor and told them that i really wanted to try it on my own for awhile. Well it took a few minutes of convincing her to do it but finally she did. I ended up moving to Memphis shortly after that. So i was about 5-6 hours away from the doctor. So i didnt go back much. With the move we werent working out like we were. We were eating ALOT of fast food because we were tired and it was easy. I ended up gaining about 35 pounds, from when i had the band loosened... My lowest weight was 160 but after we started working out i gained 10 pounds and i was 170... after my pouch packing and drinking with meals i gained 5... so i was about 175..) So my weight now is 205 ish... I think that in the last few days i have been really reading my old journals and reading everyone elses post and i started following the rules again i am down to 200 now. WOO HOO!! We had a problem getting my adjustment right... I went for three adjustments and she wouldnt put me back where i was so we had to start over adding a little at a time. So I couldn't understand when i was supposed to have a 2.5 fill and i could still eat a WHOLE value meal... So i went back well somewhere along the line there was a mix up and i only had about 1.3cc's in my band. She said my tubing was never accounted for. So we filled that puppy up! LOL it is great now. I feel like i did in the beginning. I am doing well not drinking with my meals. It is just gonna be breaking the habit. I still reach for my drink and i have to stop myself. But things are going GREAT!! I am so excited to finally have the passion and drive that i had when i first had the surgery!

    I am new here

Thanks Nancie.....I have decided to go with the LapBand. So how are you feeling now that 10 days have passed?
  14. Well I got a consult with the doctor for July 20th.I will have to have the 6 months of documented weight loss, dietician etc, but Im gonna try like hell to lose as much as I can by then and maybe I will end up changing my mind, but if I dont.I believe this is gonna change my life for the better either way..These next 6 months will be a test for me.I see this as the start of my journey.I have finally made up my mind to do something about my weight.I have been thin before so I do know what it is like, but I was so much younger and I didnt think before I LET MYSELF GET SO OVERWEIGHT.Didnt realize how hard it would be, didnt think before I drank all that coke, and ate all those burgers, and all that junk for all these years.Didnt think being this overweight could happen to me, but here I am.Im 33 years old and I am gonna start living my life the way I should have been the last 10 years..Probably will be visiting here often.Hope all your journeys are good ones.:biggrin2:
  15. My surgeon basically gave me the option to try Ursodiol if I wanted to. I have the prescription and they said it wouldn't hurt me to take it (they are monitoring my liver to be sure), but it may not be necessary. They said that the population of UCLA sleevers is about 6% with gallbladder issues while 10% of the general population has problems, so they left it up to me. It seems like if UCLA has only had 6% of their patients need it, then I may not want it. But after reading horror stories on here, I don't want to go through a gallstone attack and gallbladder surgery. Tiffykins has really good opinions on this issue and she has experienced gallbladder issues. Anyone else have any side effects? UCLA didn't even prescribe it, my GP did after I read about it on here, then I discussed it with my surgeon before taking it....and I'm still deciding.

    My first fill

Well I got my first fill today 10/4/2006 and I had a little trouble drinking the water they gave me because he filled it too much, but then he took some saline out and I felt much better. I have been able to eat and keep it down, even though I feel a little weird in my chest area. I am gonna give it a couple of days to see if this is just the side effects of the fill. It wasn't painful at all, I didn't even feel the prick in my stomach. I have lost 24 lbs in the past 6 weeks and should start losing 1-2 lbs for the next few weeks as that is the norm. If I don't then they will fill me again. I have to let my doctor know how my progress is going. :nervous

    Wayyyyyyyyy too many clothes!

You are my twin. I've lost over 100lbs and all I've bought is 2 dresses that were on sale for under $10 and a bathing suit for the beach this summer. Other than gym clothes & underwear I don't need to buy anything. My sibling calls my spare room "The Store". I've taken 10 bags to Goodwill, and given away 2 bags of clothing. I still have more to go! Selling is a pain in the rear, although I'm thinking of trying ThredUp for some of the really nice designer stuff I have.

    Dwpb?!

I have! Couple of times actually. we were on a road trip traveling on I-10, going about 73mph. Didnt have much warning with this one. I asked Mike to get me something (I was driving), but it was too late. another time was just the other day. I was running errands and felt the urge. I turned into a residential neighborhood to open my van door and let it go into the street, but there was some dude cutting his grass. So I drove (flew) down the street (so he wouldnt be suspecious) and there was a kid (teen) riding a bike. Im having a moment here and cant find a private spot to pb in! Finally! I made it to a secluded area just in time.

confuse about fills and average weight lost

I was banded on 12/29/09. My starting weight 228lbs I've had two fills. My first fill was on 01/19/10 for 2cc weight loss of 14lbs, My second fill was on 02/01/10 for 5cc. My weight is the same no weight loss or gain. I have my third fill on 02/15/10 I really haven't felt much restriction. I have not tried to push the boundary either. My band only holds 11cc I only have 4cc left so I hoping the next fill I'm able to loss more weight.:frown:

Any other 9.75 cm bands out there??

I also have a small band, I had surgery in 01/05 but I have lost very slow especially because I got pregnant half way to reaching my goal. I started at 243.4 and I am now 179, my baby is 9 months old.
  22. So did you start WW since your almost at your goal or did you start off with it. I just had surgery 10/13/09 so I don't know what do you think.
  23. I was hungry the first couple days, too, but it passes. I'm at 10 days and have to force myself to eat and get liquids down now.

    Wok?

I use an All Clad 10" stainless steel wok I bought from Ebay. Got it for about $68 I love how with the right heat and not too much oil it cooks up things real nice and the pan is easy to clean if you just put a small amount of water in and swirl it around a bit. The 10" size is great for doing small amounts and not wasting food. I used to have a non stick one years ago and the one thing I did not like about it was that I couldn't move food out to the sides for a minute, they just kept sliding back down into the middle.
