Well during my 2 week preop diet I lost 19 lbs. Then the week after surgery I lost 11 more. I had surgery on Feb 5th. I have actually gained back a couple of lbs becuase I am still not filled to the correct amount. I had a fill on March 16th at 4cc's but I was up all night getting sick so I went back on March 17th and got 2 ccs out. Then on April 14th I got another fill of 1 cc so I am at 3 now and I still don't have very much restriction. I just called today to reschedule my next fill to May 12th. That is the soonest they can get me in because I have to see Deperi or Webb because neither Welchel or Hagen could find my port. I really like Webb anyway because when he gives a fill I don't even feel the needle! I don't know how he does it! By the way I was very skeptical about going to Memorial for the surgery but I was very impressed with the whole thing I hope that helps

hi nancy, thanks for your message... i was on pre-op for 2 weeks and lost 6 lbs and i've lost 7 or 8 since surgery... my ticker says differently because my scale at home got my hopes up.
the nutritionist at the weight loss clinic told me it could be a number of things working against me right now, 1, i'm diabetic and until my blood sugars get leveled my body is producing a lot of insulin and that stores itself in fat and doesn't like to give it up.
2. i am not a consistent eater... here it is almost 2 pm on saturday and all i've had to day is 20 oz of decaf coffee. she said i need to eat more consistently because my body is in starvation mode and thinks i'm not going to feed it.
3. i'm very muscular and it's alwasy been hard for me to lose weight.. .she said i may only see 1/2 lb to a 1lb a week.
i'm really ok with that, i'm just wishing i were 30 weeks out instead of 3. but it will come with time. thanks again... keep in touch. steph

Let's just say the first week I hardly got any liquids in. My stomach just felt full all the time. Today is the first day I really felt hunger. I got a little worried about that because I'm on pretty much a regular diet now. I feel great today, so hope that continues!!

Hey! No it wasn't. I got all excited because I lost 3 lbs in a week and then 2 lbs the next week but I only gained 1 lb and I'm back on track this week looking to lose that lb plus the next 2. So I'm down 4 lbs from my last fill on the 25th of April so I'm on track. My average is 2 lbs a week. How's the liquid diet coming along? Just think 1 more week! What hospital is your surgeon doing it in? I had to go down to Harper University Hospital (part of the DMC complex) in Detroit.

Had a bit of a trying week. I work in Elections and Tuesday was school elections and they brought in all this not so good for you food. So of course I had to have some. Although I did not do as bad as I would have in the past and I think the scale will show that when I weigh myself tomorrow. If I gained a pound this week oh well I won't fret because I know it'll come off next week.
That's alot of weight you've lost so far. How awesome is that. Your liquid diet will be easier. By next week you won't be wanting to kill people and being around food will be easier for you. You will see that weight dropping off you and it will keep you focused on your goal!

Hello babydoll1, things are going good. I went to my 2 week check up on the 5th. I have my first fill next month on the 9th. I started my soft foods on that day also for four days. So on Mothers Day I can have reg. foods. My doctor said to eat slow and to take small bites. How is the weight loss going for you?

pre-op went fine. But, the week before the surgery my stepfather passed away and we had to race down to Arkansas for the funeral. We had to cancel the primary doctors surgical clearance appt and the apt scheduler at my surgeon just about lost her mind. She was very uncaring and let me know that she did not appreciate having to reschedule a dr appt. I had a great surgeon and most of the staff has been friendly but my experience with her has me thinking about changing practices for my follow up. She has always been a little rude. I have heard her talking inappropriately about other pts. Saying that they call and ask too many questions and are non compliant with the program. My surgery went very well and I am home. I will be thinking about you tommorow. Take care of yourself today. I treated myself to a pedicure (with out polish) the day before and it was a nice treat. have gas x and plenty of jello and pudding on hand. I will say a prayer for your speedy recovery.

Any word from your insurance? I ended up calling myself to find out, why don't you try that.
