    Struggling

    I’ve hit a three week stretch before where I bounced around within 2 lbs. I never stopped weighing myself, but I tried to be scientific about it and ask myself: are you eating okay? Are you exercising? Are you sleeping? Are you stressed? I really focused on these 4 things at the beginning of my stall and ....I didn’t lose any weight for three weeks.     I am the same exactly three weeks and stall it is frustrating as I am barely eating I guess my body is just fighting it to keep as it use to be deep breath and patience I guess

    Stall?

    Yep - I weighed daily, but only officially recorded it weekly, so a week without loss (or a bit of gain) I chalked up to being a "stall". I only had one week without loss until I started ramping up my calories to slow down the loss leading into goal (and my "three/third week stall was maybe a day - it's a big YMMV thing.) There are too many water weight effects to worry about daily fluctuations.
  4. I'm entering my 7th week post op and I am stuck at 264 pounds. I realize I have lost a lot of weight but on the other hand, I don't understand why I haven't lost any this week. I am averaging 665 calories a day. I am getting about 70 gms of Protein and I an hitting the 64 ounces of Water. I am working out three to four times a week and burn an average of 400 calories each time. How can I not lose weight? It makes no sense to me. I am aware of stalls and I did have one a few weeks ago but it didn't last more than a few days. It's hard to keep motivated when the scale doesn't move.

    2 weeks no weight loss

    Many people don't show an initial loss on the scale because of IV fluids and swelling post-op. Have you talked to your NUT? Did your surgeon or NUT express any concern when you had your post-op follow-up? If not, I you are probably doing fine. Almost everyone hits a stall about three weeks post op. Just follow your program. Focus on getting in all of your Protein and fluids, take your Vitamins and supplements as directed, and exercise. Even though you are getting 70 grams of protein, your calories are very low. You should do better once you are able to get in more calories.     Feeling like a faliure...

    Oh, honey. You've just gone through another major operation! That's big stuff! You don't want to be beating yourself up so soon! Your body is probably saying 'what in the world?!' 'I'm hanging onto my calories, thank you very much!' Sounds like the common three week stall. Just keep doing what you know to be right and all will be well. One thing I will say - is food 'passing through' okay? As long as it is and you 'feel okay'.. Hang on in there. If, by another 4 weeks, things haven't 'levelled out', go back to your quack and have a chat. Hang in there, honey. It's too soon to be down and you'll be rocking your sleeve in no time. It's probably just your body's way of saying 'I'm grumpy, I've been fannied about with again.. Leave me alone!'

    Barely loseing

    first week is from the IV fluids they gave you in the hospital. Some people gain as much as 10 lbs from that (I can't remember how much I "gained" - maybe 4 or 5 lbs). It can take up to a week for it to work its way out. Also, almost everyone has their first stall within the first 4-6 weeks after surgery. It's usually the third week (thus, the "three-week stall"), but not always. Mine was weeks 2 & 3. During week 4, it broke and I dropped like 6-8 lbs practically overnight.

    Weight loss stall

    it's the infamous three-week stall. You just got it a little early. Almost everyone experiences that - if you do a search for it on this site, you'll find over 17,000 posts on it (and no, I am NOT kidding...). Mine was weeks 2 and 3. During week 4, it broke and I dropped something like 6-8 lbs in about two days. Just stick to your program and stay off the scale for a few days if you need to. It WILL break - they always do - and then you'll be on your way again.
  9. I am currently on my third week (yes, the dreaded stall stage) however, my main concern is that I have a large appetite. When I eat, I do get full after about three or four bites of a meal, but I am able to down an entire pudding cup, and am able to drink easily. My question is this: what was your calorie count within your first month post op? And did anyone else experience having an active appetite.     Typical rate of weight loss

    hey hun good morning and congrats on your sleeve, My doctor told me that the first month there is a drastic weight loss and that is because we lose Water weight. As fallen angel had already mentioned, some lose 15 others lose 30 and some may lose even more, i lost 31 pounds the first time. But after my first month i went to my doctors appointment he said that i should lose 2.2 pounds a week 1kg that is 8 to 9 pounds a week and he advised me to stay close to that because at that rate my skin will be able to catch to my weight loss and tighten up faster. But sometimes i go through 1 week or so stalls so i dont lose anything that week and i might make it up the next week and he said that some months i might lose some one week and stall for the next three. Sorry for the long reply, all in all... you should be losing 8 pounds a month and that is healthy Good luck

    Do a search for week three stall. Super common and there are scientific reasons for it.
  12. so, I have heard of it, the three week stall, but I don't like it very much. I think part of my problem is that I am not taking in enough fluids or just throwing them up. I just took some mirilax because I havent had a bowel movement in a week. Yes, I said a week. I have RA and am on pain medication and that doesn't help at all. so when does this stage pass. I am so discouraged!

    I need to get my tukus in gear!

    I have been stalled for about 3 weeks. I also had neck surgery three weeks ago so it is understandable. I need to get back into walking soon! I am so bummed as I need some motivation! I was so strict with walking before my surgery! Now I have to get back to it although slowly. I have been at 211 for weeks!

    Weight going up

    Same happened to me. I dropped 17 lbs in he first twelve days then stalled for a week and actually gained three. Now down 5 in four days.

    the dreaded three week stall - happens to almost all of us. Search this site for it - there are literally over 15,000 posts on it just stick to your plan and stay off the scale if you have to. It usually lasts 1-2 weeks, and then you'll be on your way again P.S. it's USUALLY the third week, but not always. Mine was weeks 2 & 3. My weight loss started up again during week four, and I dropped like 6-8 lbs in a couple of days.

    Between a week and six months. In fact, most people say it isn't a stall until three weeks.

    "slow she goes"

    I do the same thing. I'm ten weeks out and just hit 40 pounds. But I have been pretty steady so that's a blessing. You are doing well so far. The stall at two to three weeks out is pretty normal. You body has been so shocked it rebells for a while. It's hard for us to not compare ourselves to others but we each have our own journey. Just follow drs orders and you will be fine.     Not loosing!

    I'm so sorry you're not losing right now~~ but don't get discouraged! You're in what's called a "stall"~ a temporary period of time when the body stops losing so it can "catch up" to its weight loss. My surgeon's PA assures me it's only temporary and after the body adjusts it starts losing again. I was stalled for three weeks in my third month and am now losing again. I'm 4 month out as of tomorrow and I lost 4 pounds last week. So take a deeeep breath, and relax. You don't have to do anything different from what you're already doing~ and it will pass on its own. Talk to your surgeon or their staff about it, and they will reassure you that it's NORMAL~ and virtually everybody goes through it at some point in their weight loss journey! Best of luck to you

I tried to prepare myself this am when I steppe son the scales- in fact- I missed my weekly weigh in by two days because I figured his would be when that stall everyone talks about would begin and I was trying to mentally prepare myself... Thought I was ready- but I guess I wasn't--- at three weeks post surgery I had lost 18 pounds and I was really happy with that- I weighed today ( 4 weeks and two days post surgery) and it's the exact same I knows all about stalls and everything. Ut man it really hurts to see that number. I know it's a marathon and not a sprint but my brain just cannot see how I can eat how little I do and not lose weight.     3 Week Stall

    First I want to say that since my three week stall I have now lost more than ten lbs, so the stall for now is over. I think people should have the right to "freak" out if they want. You may say. that will not solve anything. That is not the point. The point is to acknowledge how you feel. This is important. Also, I do not think the mere mention of being disappointment about a stall is "freaking out". Anytime one strives for a goal and that goal is not achieved there is going to be disappointment. That is normal. To state over wise is false. So if you experience a stall cry about it, shout about it, throw something (preferably something that will not break), and so on. Then once you have had your moment pick yourself up off the floor and plan again. The journey we are on is going to have all kinds of feelings/emotions the best way to deal with it is to acknowledge it.

    3 Week Stall

    I am a little over three weeks out from my surgery and I am experiencing a stall. I am exercising and following the orders from my surgeon's office. Does anyone have suggestions of how to get over this stall? I only weigh myself once a week, so that I do not drive myself crazy. I know that if I continue to do what I am presently do the stall may work itself out without any additional steps taken, but if I can do something to send it on its way faster let me know.

    Finally in Onederland!! 🎉

    Finally broke my three week stall and had a 3 lb weight loss. 187 on the scale today. Woot woot! And I had two Christmas cookies yesterday- what a mind game. I’d did make a conscious effort to get my 64 ounces of water this week. I’m 15 weeks out and I am at about 900-1200 calories a day and I get at least 45 minutes of exercise 6 days a week (I use a Peloton bike). For those on a stall, listen to what everyone else has said and stay the course.

    Week 4 post op

    Search this site for "three week stall" and you will find that this is very, very comon. Nothing to worry about. Just keep following directions. Remember what your body has been through in the last three weeks! Give it time to catch it's breath. 33 lbs in three weeks is really significant, you're doing fine.

    Don’t ‘only’ any of your weight loss. I always say every pound you lose. It doesn’t matter how fast or slow you lose because we all lose at the rate that right for us & our body. Yes, this is likely a stall. They’re a very normal & important part of your weight loss progress and you’ll likely experience more of them. It’s the time your body takes to come to terms with the changes that have occurred (weight loss, dietary changes, etc.) & when your body resets your metabolism & the hormones that manage your hunger, satiety, digestion, etc. Stick to your plan & you’ll notice the scale moving again … it just might take up to three weeks.
