Unexpected Gas and mild cramping
Koofka replied to Koofka's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thanks wildgrits. About a half hour after posting, the feeling cleared up and I was able to get back to bed. So two hours of a fair amount of discomfort. Seemed like it may have been gas as a few final burps seemed to relieve it. Also sorry if the original post was a bit TMI, but was struggling there for a bit. Will be sure to try those SF Popsicles if it happens again. -
I haven't had one of those days in a couple weeks. I thought that was over, but my surgeon is 8 years out and he said he still has them on occasion. So I suppose I can expect it on occasion. At least I wasn't running for a bathroom...I hate those days worse...I carry emesis bags that are very convenient just for times like yesterday. I always know ahead of time so if I'm out to eat I can always make it to the car. I know... TMI. lol

Am I crazy that I hate it when people comment on my weight loss. I absolutely hate it.. First off I'm not one to have any attention ok maybe just not to much attention .on me lol.. I am Having a hard time with how other people see me it's crazy I'm sick of the fuss they are making about my weightloss. I'm not a show and tell puppet. It's becoming annoying crazy as it sounds I'm tired of hearing I can barely recognize you how much did you lose etc... Why so caught up on the number I'm the same person I always was Inside. I never thought I would be called skinny at first I loved it now I hate it. My aunt commenting on how small my clothes are well I'm yes 12 is a lot smaller than a 22/24. Yes my band helped but I'm working it and working out 4-6 days a week. My brother thinks I'm too skinny and is worried really wtf I still feel I need to lose another 50-60 pounds .... The sagging skin and sorry guys for tmi the deflated boobs are hard on my self esteem lately. When I was 22.24 I never said do I look fat now at a size 12 I'm questioning it...it's crazy cause I never saw me as fat now I can't see the slim down version of me. My self image of me is altered. Yes I'm working on that with help. I hate seeing people who I haven't seen in a while at first it was fun and great for the ego n now I hate it . This is a crazy crazy post I get it but today my neighbor made such a fuss over me I wanted to die ... She said her daughter didn't recognize me well guess what I have no idea who ur daughter is now do care. Then I have people who don't notice n I love it cause to me that means you saw me for me not what I looked like if that makes sense. I know I can't be the only one who feels this way... Any pointers on how to cope ?

Mental Challenges!
Josh2xh replied to Comeflywithme's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I can't stop thinking about fast food. I walk past a Del taco everyday and I just think about having something. I know if I did I wouldn't just regret it but I would be back in the hospital. The thought of another surgery is helpful to address the cravings. But strangely enough, instead of running out of the room when a food commercial comes on, I started watching the food network. I know this sounds dumb but it really helped me. This is definitely TMI but I related it to watching porn. You know your aren't going to have whatever is going on the TV but you can still enjoy it. Not sure this makes sense but it helped me somehow. -
Good morning you wonderful people! I had my surgery May 7, and I want to know did anyone experience the runs after returning home? I know it's tmi, but I haven't stopped going since I came home! Is anyone else going through this?

Which birth control is best? nuvaring or depro shot?
sleevie.wonder replied to re14768's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm getting the copper Para Guard put in next month so this is great to hear. I've never had an IUD before so I am a little skeptical. You don't use any other birth control besides that? We want to be able to have unprotected sex and have him be able finish inside (TMI). We want to have another baby once I reach goal and it's been the proper amount of time after surgery 1.5-2 years). Do you still have regular periods? Are tampons still easy to use with it in? Sorry for all the questions lol. -
Jami, I am suffering the same pain you are....left hand side, under my breast. The doctor told me that it's inflammation around the port and assured me that it will get better. Actually today it's doing a lot better than it was and I had surgery on Monday. I had a problem with the constipation. I hadn't gone since last Sunday. It was like cement (I know, TMI). I took stool softeners and that didn't work. Finally had to take a dulcolax suppository and that worked. Now to prevent it (which I hope it does), I'm taking 1 tablespoon of Miralax everyday in a hot cup of tea. You don't even taste it. I also am adding 2 teaspoons of Benefiber to my Protein shakes in the hope that will help. I just keep telling myself this is all for a good cause. I want to be healthy. It's hard to stay positive when you feel so crappy but we have to try Just know, I'm feeling your pain too.

You're already drinking protein shakes? Man, I'm on clear liquid diet only (water, crystal light, beef or chicken broth and sugar free popsicles). After day 2 I haven't had a problem keeping anything down. I understand what you mean when you say you thought the nutritionist was crazy about the fluid intake, I thought the same exact thing. I would double check with your doctor that protein shakes are OK to be drinking right now, they may just be too much for your system right now. I'm about to call my doctor because the past 2 days I've had an upset stomach and diarrhea which makes no sense to me, at all. I'm sure that was TMI, sorry, lol. How are you doing with your walking?

Anal sex and will it cause damage
Ariella replied to TopNotchMami's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
A first this sounds good, then all I can think is how fast does it relieve constipation.... Talk about killing the mood. To the OP: My boyfriend and I were oraly intimate 4 days post op, and vaginal shortly there after. So at 5 months I can't see any problem if your in the mood. TBH (tmi warning) I've been too drained over all for anal, as it takes more effort lol. ENJOY!!!! -
So I had surgery yesterday morning. Felt pretty good coming out but then once I got settled it hit me. I'm assuming my port is on my right side because I have the largest incision there and it's SO SORE. Like so bad that morphine wasn't touching the pain. I was so prepared for the gas pain post surgery, but I've had none! I wasn't expecting this pain. I was also prepared for constipation but I've had the complete opposite, and I'm hoping it doesn't mean I have to stay in the hospital longer. Did anyone have diarrhea bad after surgery? Sorry for tmi. It's not like I have a stomach ache, I think it may have been from a small cup off apple juice and my body wasn't used to the sugar. I'm ready to start feeling better. A little nervous to get home because of getting on and off the couch/bed. We'll see how everything goes, one day at a time, right?

Bizarre, very TMI question
LumpySpacePrincess posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
OK almost all of us have been through the hair loss stage after surgery. Right now I look like a reverse Bozo the Clown with no hair on the sides and tons on the top! But what about a sudden spurt of new hair growth in weird places? I'm suddenly growing a lot of hair...well, between my "cheeks". Like TONS of it. Am I the only one, or is this common? -

Gas X strips - so easy to take, they just melt right on your tongue 2oz Dipping cups (Walmart) - used these to store my food for after surgery (yogurt, applesauce, eggs, etc) they are the perfect size for your little pouch and you can just grab and go Unflavored Protein powder- mixed a tablespoon in everything I ate for a way to get added protein. Also made my own protein Popsicles with a Zoku mini pop maker Jello & pudding - sugar free of course just took a box of these in my favorite flavors plus a scoop of protein and mixed up a batch for the week - just follow directions on the box Sugar free Popsicles - a good go to snack Water Enhancer of Choice - you will get tired of water so I brought so many to keep myself from getting bored Sugar free mints - to keep your mouth from getting dry. The first few days home my month was do dry and I liked to use the mint to also help get rid of the protein and vitamin after taste Waterproof bandages - the hospital provided me with some but I am one that changed mine daily no matter what. I brought the kind that were just a size up from a band aid and they were the perfect size Protein shakes and blender bottles - I got 2 of the small size blender bottle and pre made my shakes for the day. As you can see I had everything in the fridge ready Mederma for your scars - once they completely heal rub on daily Miralax or Smooth Move just in case you are constipated Imodium for diarrhea - which I needed and didn't have because people only tell you about the constipation ( I know TMI) All your Bariatric vitamins - multivitamin, Iron, Vit. D, B-12, and Biotin Small bowls, plates, and baby silverware to help you eat small bites and slowly Comfortable place to sleep - I used a recliner but you can do a large sofa chair, couch, or even a toddler bed. (my friend did this, Lol) just so you will not accidentally roll over on your stomach. I also purchased a food mill for about 10 bucks off amazon to purée my meat but I have not got to the stage yet so not sure if it will be useful. I am only 2 weeks post op. Hope this helps!! If I think of anything else I will let you know Willa -
Dominicana 88 Hi, I'm from San Pedro de Macoris I came to NYC when I was 10 yrs old. I did use first response Opk, I wasn't sure when i got them positive, if my body was doing what it was supposed to be doing, you know how pcos is...and after that we only did it twice that cycle during my fertile window, I wasn't even sure if i was ovulating for sure, and I stayed in bed after sorry tmi but I didnt go to pee after. I know yuck, I just clean in bed, somebody told no to pee after, so i pee before. I had my positive 8 days before my period, that is extremely early, n I couldn't believe it, so the next i went to clinic and pay 35 dollars for a same day results and it was positive. Be ready cuz, your miracle is coming soon! God bless you.

Hi all, I know this might be a little TMI, but I figured I could ask you all. After you had your surgery, how long did it take for you to have another menstrual cycle? I finished my last one right before my surgery and had another 3 days post-op, but I haven't had one since. I'm going on a cruise in June and I'm terrifed that Aunt Flo is gonna join me uninvited. I'm still taking my birth control everyday and I know that my doctor has said that my hormones will be completely screwy since estrogen is stored in fat and I'm still losing. Any advice would be appreciated!! Thanks girls! Samantha

April 16th role call - who's with me!

1. 5'7"/ 236 at orientation 2. 224 day of surgery 3. Only lost 1.6 pounds this week, but lost inches 4. Current weight: 213 Total pounds lost 23 5. Goal weight: 140 , Pounds to go: 73 6. Biggest success - going back to work this week and finding out it wasn't too difficult. 7. Biggest struggle - learning the hard way that while my new tummy could handle those few sips of coffee, my intestines didn't like resulting in diarrhea (sorry, tmi!) 8. Lifestyle change I incorporated this week: packing my lunch and other Snacks for work. The old me wouldn't plan and would eat on the run (fast food and eating most meals out) -
New things have popped up. Don't want this to be a TMI moment, however, when they said everything would change, they weren't just a whistlin' Dixie. I really didn't have liquid elimination after the surgery. I do now. It seems all that happens is my stomach and things lower churn and gurgle. Which I do admit, I find amusing. It churns especially when I drink Water. I have learned.........whatever you do, don't fart!!! The other new thing that just started is burping. I burped a lot before. Not so much now. I am 5 weeks out after surgery. The new thing is I am finding it difficult to burp sitting or stand. I'm burping only while laying down on my right side only. So, every night after I lay down on my right side, the burping starts. It makes me laugh because it's so odd and I didn't feel the need to burp before. So after eating lunch today, I had to lean over the right side of my chair at work to burp. It made me giggle. Now what new joys can I look forward to experiencing? LOL Anybody else developed some new odd quirks?

To me, I'm still the "fat girl" I was in 2009 (prior to my lapband). Thought once I got down to within 20 lbs of my goal wt (I'm now 10 from there), I would start to feel different. But I still feel the same. Still see myself as 250 lbs in the mirror. TMI warning: Last nite, as I was getting ready to have sex with hubby, I undressed in front of the mirror. I saw my saggy belly and started crying. Tried to press it down to c what my belly would look like flat. Hubby walked in. Totally blew me away with "Ur beautiful. And ur NOT fat" I guess sometime u just need to hear it from someone u luv. It still amazes me that a size 8 jeans fit me (coming from a 22). I don't believe it sometimes, I hafta look at the tag everytime I put them on! Good luck at ur new job. I'm very open with everyone who'll listen about my wls's (lapband in 2009, sleeve revision 9 mths ago). I have an extremely overweight cousin who's considering the sleeve because I've inspired her.

Sorry if it's TMI but I'm already wanting to get my "boogie area" worked on I went bra shopping today finally, but I definitely will be getting a lift at some point.

Hi anyone having surgery April/may from uk
crittyc replied to Sparklediva's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
I've been doing well. Went to the doctor today because I was worrying about he ongoing pain in my side. They don't seem so worried and gave me a few new things to try. tmi?! Lol -
I too was sleeved on the 9th and since surgery I have lost 11lbs like you. I lost some on the pre op diet so I am happy with my total loss so far. What I am most pleased about is that I have broken the triple digit mark (I now weigh less than 100kg!! and am only in double digits - btw I live in Australia I know what you mean about being so busy, or maybe too busy, my kids are aged 10, 3 and 11 months. I only just went back to work today after surgery but cant complain having had such a good break/recovery. My 10 yr old and my biggest child (husband) have been super helpful, so that has taken the pressure off. But picking up my 3 yr is hard, he is too big and heavy so soon after surgery. I am a total shocker when it comes to the scales as I weigh daily - although there isnt a loss every day, it is consistently going down. The scale and I are friends now cos its going down as opposed to only ever going up. I think though, if you're experiencing incision pain, that's definitely a cue that you need to take it a little bit easier on yourself. Take care and all the best on your journey! That's awesome you have lost the same as me! I have actually seen the scale go up and pound or two but then it drops back down. It is devastating when that happens and it freaks me out! I have decided to not weigh myself until Friday! I will become obsessed if I weigh in every day and don't see it move.. argh! I think part of my weight "gain" here and there is also because I am having trouble with constipation. TMI perhaps but it's apart of life, especially after WLS. Miralax is becoming an every day thing for me! I think some is Water retention too as I haven't been getting in 64 ounces each day. I didn't really get that in before surgery! I've never been a big drinker of anything so it is work for me to get that in!!
