  1. DH and I went to eat at a restaurant the other night and I went to use the restroom while he was seated. When I came out he was in a booth. YES, I SAID A BOOTH!!!! Well, I was looking at MY side of the booth, (did I mention that it was a booth???) and it didn't look very big to me. I looked at DH's side and thought his looked A LOT BIGGER. So, I decided to scoot the table as I sat down to move it to his side more, but, BUTTTTTTTTTTTTTT, when I sat down, I FIT!!! I couldn't even believe it!!! I never thought I would ever be sitting in a booth and not have my big fat enourmous stomach smooshed against the table so tight that I could not breathe. BUT, there is another but, there was about 5 inches or more between me and the table...WHAT???? with room to spare...I got tears in my eyes and so did DH...what a great great feeling. I was so elated the rest of the night and when I type about it now, I am getting that same feeling. :whoo::whoo::whoo::whoo:Can't wait for the other NSV's that are coming my way very soon!!!

    Nsv!!!

Before, I never gave much thought to the NSV's that everyone talks about. But before, I was enjoying consistent genuine scale victories, so I wasn't in tuned with the importance of a NSV! Well, I have kinda hit a wall at losing the pounds, but my recent NSV has giving me positive reinforcement to my whole Lapband experience! My job requires a yearly check up that includes: eyesight, hearing and blood pressure. Last year my blood presure was 164/94. The nurse made me lay down to see if my BP would drop a little before she would allow me to get back to work. It only dropped very little, but I had to agree to get it checked by my PCP. Well today I had my annual physical and my BP was 122/ 76. How cool is that! The weight loss and the exercising that I am doing are really paying dividends! One side note..............during the hearing test, we are placed into a soundproof hearing chamber. During the test, I could hear my stomach making some really weird gurgly noises! Noises that up until now, I wasn't aware that were happening! I mean some funny sounding noises! Anyone else ever heard their tummy "sing" like this? I was cracking myself up just listening!

It's been a while since we've had some NSVs, so come on, let's hear some! I know you're all doing great, so there has to be something you want to want to share. Let's have an NSV Party! I'll start: I am now considered "ALL" or "MOST" -- lol. I can finally fit into my "One Size Fits All" or "One Size Fits Most" nightshirts and beach cover-ups!!! :w00t:  And!!! I finally did something I've been wanting to do all my life... buy an LBD!!! A little black dress!! I bought it yesterday to wear at my niece's upcoming wedding... and it was a size 14!!!!!! I haven't worn that size since....... well, I actually can't remember, it's been so long!! Probably more than 15 years ago. Now, granted, I'm still going to need some Spanx to smooth the rolls -- LOL -- but HEY! I'm so thrilled!!! C'mon, let's hear from you!!

NSV- Everything is so much easier to do now. Couple flight of stairs, no problem. Tying my shoes without needing to sit down. Crossing my legs! College students are oblivious, usually, so they stand in the middle of hallways and stairwells... I don't feel like a fat cow squeezing between THIER inconsiderate hides now! Oh, and boys talk to me more, hehe.

These NSVs are all so fantastic! :tongue2: Simone, congratulations on your one-year bandiversary! Lisa, I walk at least a mile a day, but I would like to do more. During the summer, I did water aerobics when the pool was open, and I loved that! I keep saying I'm going to check out the local rec center pool, but life is so busy! I need to make more time for myself, because I certainly know that I feel better when I get more exercise!

Hee hee... thanks for the compliments. It did feel good wearing something sexy for once. Darn... I should have had dh take a picture. lol Next time. Bmooney, fantastic! I know you must be feeling great! :wink5: Rebecca, congrats on size 14! And, just like you, I am taking bags and bags of clothes to the thrift store tomorrow (want to get them in for a tax deduction before the end of the year). Funny thing is, 75% of them I bought from the same thrift store! :w00t: Since I started losing weight, I hate buying things full price, and we have a fab thrift store near us that has really nice clothes. Keep those NSVs coming! I love to hear them! :tongue2:

Mamadot, skinny jeans? WOOOOOHOOO!!! Did you sleep in them?? That is awesome. My latest NSV is that I'm in a size 10, even though the scale isn't moving. Yipee!
  14. Been banded over 4 years, lost all my weight a while back...so I don't get NSV';s that often anymore.... But Saturday Night was a big one! First, I graduated HS in 1970....I weighed 165, played football, ran track, etc. There is a class mate, who has become a very popular comedian, tours all over the world, TV, Movies...etc. (I'm not going to mention his name) Well the word went out through face book, that he would be the headline act at "Catch a Rising Star" here in New Jersey....and people from the Class of 70 were being contacted to attend...sort of a mini reunion....which a good number of us did. To get to the point, people I have not seen in over 40 years were there....of course everyone was thrilled to see each other. Lots of Love going around!.....and everyone could not get over how I have not changed one bit...I am still the same weight, and I am still in tip-top shape as I was in High School! People said I have obviously done pretty good for myself. The joke was, where everyone is getting older...I am gong in the opposite direction! IF THEY ONLY KNEW!!!! It's been over 40 years and they do not know I was once morbidly obese, was once a diabetic, have cardiac issues, along with a long list of other things. And as a last resort, I had to undergo Bariatric Weight Loss Surgery...and only then did I turn my life around....but they don't know, and that's just fine with me....just let it ride. I was walking on air all night, and it was not just the alcohol we were consuming! (of course we partied!) Stuff like his makes it all worth it....best decision I ever made!
  15. It's official!....I no longer need to shop at Lane Bryant! I was in Nordstrom Rack today with a friend and where do I head as soon as I walk in the door - PLUS SIZES! And then I picked out about 10 tops in a 1x...my friend kept telling me - you are NOT a plus size anymore! But in my mind I still am (was) and I took the clothes to the dressing room. YEP - they were all too big! And shockingly not just by a little! I was shocked and very surprised! Do you mean to tell me that I can go back to looking and shopping in "regular" stores! Talk about a great day and incredible NSV!!!!! Wwwoooooooo-hooooooooo!
  16. This is the first major goal I've been waiting for. I'm almost halfway there now. This dress will be WAY too big when I'm done! Oh YES I did!!! Maybe we should renew our vows while it still fits! --danielle

    Nsv....

I haven't worn heels to church in over 2 years.... I wore them all day today!!!!
  18. I haven't told many people about my surgery, maybe less than 5. I always get comments about my weight but does anyone ever get annoyed by some of the things people say? Someone literally asked if I was ok, like sick.. ill... Other people straight out ask me how much weight I've lost or say wow you look like a complete different person did your doctor put you on a diet? Wtf! I know my NSV's and the way I feel outweigh it all but those little comments really irk me! I'm an introvert there is no way I'm going to tell someone an exact number as to what I've lost. Sorry guys for the long rant! I do feel so good though!!
  19. Bandista what wonderful NSVs!!!! Great job on enjoying your vacation and coming home with no extra baggage:-) That my friend is a huge feat!!!!

    A New NSV--Kind Of!

Hello All! I had an appointment scheduled last Friday for a third fill. I always go into these appointments with a little fear--Big Needle Phobia hear...(see previous posts!) Anyhow, I have lost 8 more pounds in the 4 weeks since my last appoinment. The nutritionist and I had a great discussion: I'm still losing weight at my current fill level, I am not getting hungry and I have little or no problems with food getting stuck-aside from a few non-chewing/triscuit/McD's fries incident-- So, no additional fill for now. We'll see how the next four weeks go. I am an everyday weigher, On the Advice of LaMadam and others, I had my husband hide the scale. I am only allowing myself to hoist myself onto it on Saturday Mornings!
  21. I started out in October at a size 22/24. I was finally forced to buy a couple of new bras last night, one pair of Jeans, and two new shirts. The shirts are size 14/16 and the jeans are size 18. I probably could've bought a 16 but they would have definitely been too tight in the sitting position LOL. The scale is still moving but this is exciting because I can finally see the difference myself!
  22. Officially, the program I am working with recommends not weighing in so frequently. I weigh myself daily. At times, this has been frustrating. However, at this point (11 weeks out) it has helped me understand my body and my weight loss patterns. I know that I will go down to a new low, then over the next several days I may bounce around (up to 2.5 lbs) above that low before hitting the next low. As I said, early on this was frustrating, now I understand that it will happen and it does not stress me out (as much). I am currently using Fitness Pal to track my weight . I only enter new lows, and I don't record the little jumps back up between lows. Having that to examine the weight loss over time is very helpful. After the initial drops my weight-loss has felt so slow, but looking at it over weeks is helpful. I have a hard time "seeing" my weight-loss. The other things that has been helpful is recognizing the NSV. I had to buy all new pants. Also, I am almost done shopping in my closest. Those things can offer a boost when the scale is not moving as quickly as we would like it to.

    Despair

It will pass! When you start to see real improvements, and I'm talking about the NSV (non-scale victories) you will no longer regret your choice. Sometimes these are small improvements to your life that make a big impact. Such as, not sitting too close to the steering wheel in the car, being able to wipe your butt easier, or shoes feeling looser. It's these things that really boost morale. I was 345lbs at my highest, 332lb when I started the pre op diet, and I didn't see a visible difference until I was nearly 80lbs down. What I'm saying is, that simply losing 50lb, 75lbs won't make you feel better.... it's the NSV that will keep you positive and moving in the right direction. Feel free to PM me day or night. I'm always around for a vent session or if you need a pick me up. And I'm sorry that this thread is over a week old, hopefully you still get my response!
  24. Congrats! I don't have any active NSVs yet, but I am happy to be able to fit almost all of my shoes now, clothes I haven't seen in over 5-10 years, and chairs that have arms on them.
