    Question regarding Superannuation

Hi there, Does anyone have some insight into the ease (or not!) of accessing your super these days? I have a sleeve back in 2012 and am considering a revision. When I tried to access my super I was denied bc i had 4K in my bank account (to pay daily bills) and the surgery was 5K. They deemed me "capable of saving for the surgery" and refused early release. Has anyone had success with their application and is happy to share the ins and outs with me? Thank you!
  2. April 16! Those drs who I’m happy with but staff suck tried to make it for may 30th bc they said my insurance wouldn’t approve my 6 months weigh in keep in mind I had over 4 years in weigh ins bc that’s how long I been waiting!!! Office was suprised!
  3. Mine is April 3rd, I started my 2 week liquid diet today and I have a horrible headache and I'm sad. I haven't ate anything I wanted to but I tried to manipulate my husband to co-sign my bs. I've been told after the 3rd day it gets better. I keep reminding myself if I slip, I'll resent myself so much. Sent from my Z983 using BariatricPal mobile app
  4. I don't have a surgery date yet, it will be most likely in the summer. I will be 40 this year and I'm tired of my body feeling like it' 85. I know I can be successful I'm just nervous about the possible issues after the fact. It' a big decision. But I'm going to keep talking , reading and researching as much as possible so that I can get more comfortable and less worried. I' glad I found this site bc I know I can' be the only one unsure or worried.
  5. My mistake I thought u had uhc bc that u go under prior authorization and it shows it
  6. My panni was just denied by insurance. I have a *** and needed to get a reference from my GP to see the plastic surgeon then approval from my GPs medical referral bc the doctor my Bariatric surgeon recommended was not in their office (eyeroll). I have lost 105ish lbs and I need one! I’m wondering a few things and hoping you all can help me figure this out. First I’m wondering if I got denied bc the surgeon I went to was not out of my GPs office? They had one to give me but when I researched him he was a hand doctor who did plastic surgery also. Secondly I’m wondering if the plastic surgeon I went to was ridiculously expensive and that’s why it was denied. Tummy tuck was 12,500 and breast lift was 12,000. I know only the panni part is covered but this surgeon does both for same price. Thirdly and most importantly I’m wondering what my rights are to appeal something like this. I plan to call in the morning but wanted to get my ducks in a row and have a clue what I was going to ask them at the insurance company. Out With the Old--In With the New!

I had a rebellion - Christmas cake. Three weeks post surgery. Now get this BS rationalisation - I said to myself “the cake will have a lot of sugar, all that dried fruit. So I will (wait for it) pretty much just eat the icing.” Can ya Tell I have a PhD in Psychology? Sure enough, bad dumping. Luckily we are learning critters. Now even the sight of fruit cake makes me nauseous...

    March-April Rny-ers

AshMarie are you getting excited? It is wonderful you are now so close. Are you busy making plans, getting everything in order before you go to the hospital? You probably have told us but I forget where you are having your surgery at. Have you watered your plants? All the bad food out of the pantry? Fed the cat, dog,or goldfish? Do you have to change your diet right before surgery? Can you tell I'm excited for you? Sent from my VS880PP using BariatricPal mobile app
  9. Hello, My daughter is having surgery in Puerto Vallarta April 4..He Health has been declining for years due to many illness and weight. She was on the wait list here in BC,but we cannot wait 2-3 years..My question to others that have had the surgery is... Is there anything you can tell me you wish you had support wise? I want to help her in every way possible,I know this is not easy and just want to ensure I help her every step of the way..Any recommendations are greatly appreciated
  10. I haven't been diagnosed NES, but I do have issues with night time eating that I've discussed with my therapist. What's helped me a lot: 1. Swearing off eating after dinner. No more late snacking. I have herbal tea only after dinner. Kinda like a gremlin, I should never be fed late. LOL 2. Taking melatonin at 9pm really helps. Gets you to bed at a reasonable hour, and helps cut evening cravings. Improves your sleep quality and duration...which also helps with hunger. Improves your circadian rhythm.

    Secret sleevers?!

Secretly sleeved here! Only my boyfriend knows and he has been all the support I would ever need! I chose not to tell any friends or family bc I didn’t want to hear any negative comments, my mother’s hysterics about having surgery or the overflow of advice on how to lose weight the “right” way. As far as anyone knows I have adapted a new healthy lifestyle (not diet) which is 100% true! I’ve changed the way I eat, am more conscious of my hunger signals and am on an exercise plan. That is a much as anyone needs to know. we shouldn’t feel ashamed for having the courage to make changes in our life but unfortunately that is how much society sees these surgeries. This is far from the easy way out. It’s takes hard work, constant monitoring and dedication to do what we have done. Don’t let anyone make u feel any other way. 💪🏻
  12. I recently was at a doctor’s apt, totally unrelated to my sleeve, but I was telling the nurse, who is on the heavy side, that I had the surgery when we were going over all the typical new patient intake forms. To that she responded, “cheater!” and then laughed. I decided not to take it personally bc clearly there’s major ignorance there, but, omg, how insensitive! And to say that to a patient in a medical office?!! Sleeved 8/7/17 HW: 256 SW: 248 CW: 188 on 3/7/18 5'7" GW: 150

    Chest pain, ER

Really, Tracy too! That’s too crazy[emoji6]. Yeah, I was at the same point with the Protonics, I told the Bariatric Dr I was fed up and we needed to figure it out. That’s when he did the GI to check my sleeve and found the hiatal hernia. He said it was definitely the cause of my pain, it’s pretty big. When are you going to back to the Dr?

    Any March 2018 Sleevers?

Wow! My dr had me on stage 1(clear liquids) in the hospital the day after surgery. Once I was able to tolerate that he put me on stage 2 puréed foods. I was getting nervous bc I’m not hungry at all I can’t even eat if I wanted to. Having a Hard time swallowing. Still hurts.

Congratulations on your pre liquid diet thus far, kudos to you. I second what Roxine said in her response. I just had my surgery on the 9th & I dare not get on the scale yet bc I know I gained water weight and have a lot of gas on my stomach due to the surgery. May you continue to reduce your liver while on the previous liquid diet & have a successful surgery. See you on the loser bench in a week. Cheers!!
  17. ME TOO!!!!!!!!! AMEN SISTER! ME TOO!!!!!! Here is my experience with volume (we had different procedures but close to same surgery date); some days I can eat close to 1/2 cup, other days I can barely eat a 6 oz light yogurt. It's weird and a little scary to me as well, but it is what it is, and I'm soooo thankful that I have felt great and have not had any of the uncomfortable side effects that others have suffered. Also, the very few extra calories give me the added energy to move well! I'm noticing my clothes are fitting properly vs being tight, so I figure I'm doing something right. Staying away from the scale bc of the 3 week stall. On a happy note, I had to go to a dinner and literally the only item on the menu that was even a little bit appropriate was chili... I ate about 1/2 of the cup and I was very full but I did not feel cheated or left out. Pre surgery would have been a much different meal for me with feelings of shame and guilt afterward. So... even though it's only been 3 weeks I'm beyond happy with my choice to have this procedure, and I'm keeping a log of these happy victories for when I feel frustrated and upset.

Post op meat, is leaner better?

My answer is no. Eat fattier meat, as long as you choose meat from healthy animals. Grass fed beef, the fat has some omega 3s. Care about the animals you choose to eat, make sure they were fed well and healthy. Then you can enjoy the fattier cuts or whatever. Fat doesn’t make you fat but it tastes better and is easier to cook. I eat well over 50% fat daily and for 6 months no stall in weight loss. I’m glad with all the attention I have to pay to every morsel that goes into my mouth, that fat is one macro I don’t have to care about. I choose full fat dairy and I eat the cuts of meat I want. It provides me with joy too, and doesn’t hurt my weight loss. Fat is yummy and healthy but just don’t mix it with sweet.

    Good Carbs???

For my first 6 months (I’m about 8 months now) I lost weight every day, even if a few ounces only. And I always feed my gut bacteria every day. They keep our immune systems thrumming, and they help your moods and stop your bad cravings. The good gut bacteria want you to eat potato, sweet potato, other starchy veg, and at first after surgery I fed them a tsp of inulin powder or potato starch put into my protein drink. Eventually I could add roasted root veg as the bite or two of carb after the protein at my meal. That is how I do it.

    Any March 2018 Sleevers?

Yes I was sleeved march 9 with dr Szomstein at Cleveland clinic in Weston FL. It’s about a 25 minute drive. The Bariatric team is awesome. I was treated so well during my hospital stay. I highly recommend them. They definitely live up to their stellar reputation. Over all I feel fine . Just a little sore where they removed the stomach. On surgery day they gave me Tylenol and nausea meds prior to surgery. That really helped bc when i woke up. I didn’t have any pain just tightness in my abdomen. I didn’t have any gas pain either. I have not had any issues swallowing or vomiting. Extremely smooth recovery.
  21. Hi Guys, I’ve recently had some family drama pop up and I’m disappointed to say that I got dragged into it and fed the proverbial beast. However, when talking about it with a friend of mine I had an epiphany of sorts and I realized that in the long run the issue really didn’t matter that much to me. I made the decision at that moment to not address this issue or any other crap that does not directly affect me or my wife or kid. I’ve found that I need to eliminate stress in my life to be successful in my weight loss and for my own peace of mind. I have done this in the past when I lost a significant amount of weight and it made realize that I can only control things that I’m able to. Knowing that and putting it into practice helped me be calmer, more focused and productive in all aspects of my life. Some people didn’t care for my new outlook, such as my mom when she would complain about her sister. I would simply say “Mom, how does this affect you, dad or us kids directly?” She would say “It doesn’t.” To that I would answer, “Well then, I guess there is nothing you can do about it and you should stop wasting energy on things you can’t change”. She would get angry with me because I wouldn’t take the “bait” with her. But my philosophy was to remove uncontrollable stressors as best as possible, basically all of the crap that was just noise, and focused on real things that can be changed or things that I needed to pay attention to because of potential importance. Regretfully I got lazy in this mindset and I fell off the wagon and went back to my old ways of adding to the b***h fest. I’ve been acting like a cranky old man that has nothing better to do than b***h about everything. Well it stops. Now! Again some people in my life won’t like this much but it’s my health and well-being and that of my wife and son that matter the most to me now. I’ll be there for people and help if I can but not if it’s a constant drone of pissing and moaning. I'll even do my best to not complain when ladies comment on stuff in the Guys Room section, even though that does drive me nuts. Baby steps right?

    Any March 2018 Sleevers?

Had my surgery yesterday. I’m exhausted from getting woken up every 2 hours to walk and I am ridiculously thirsty bc I haven’t been able to drink anything yet. Other than that so far so good! Lol

    Approved... But having provider doubts.

I'm sure your records should transfer, the insurance hmmm? Did you make sure BCBS Fed has the new hospital, and surgeon in their network? If not you might have to see,if they'll run you as a Single Case. Another, person on BP who works in the insurance industry called it that. Means that although they might be not contracted there they let you through as kind of special thing. I don't have to worry, Medicare is accepted most everywhere, it can be a cash cow for them. Medicare doesn't pay top dollar for procedures but they do pay steadily. Sent from my VS880PP using BariatricPal mobile app

    ~December 2017 Sleevers~Updates

Hi December Kids! I started this journey at 268, sleeved at 255 and am now 226. My loss has been very slow but steady as I approach the 3 month mark. I am feeling meh about it. I had one of those iron stomachs that tolerated anything and other than the amount of food I can ingest, I have had no issues with anything... Not sure if that is a good thing? The only thing I have to look out for is the amount of food bc I do feel it if I eat too much. I try to do 3-5 small meals a day ... protein protein protein. I’ve given up most carbs but every now and then I “indulge” when it can’t be helped. My work keeps me traveling so I eat out a lot. I had my first alcoholic beverage two weeks ago... ate dinner prior to the drink and sipped slowly. I had two more drinks on different days in the following week. I ate a few bites of desert and a nibble of chocolate. I also get scared that I’m eating too normal as aimee jones said. I eat protein first and sometimes am still not full. So 30 mins later I try to fill up a on water. Eventually we are supposed to be able to eat more than a few ounces though I didn’t expect to be able to so soon and that worries me. I actually don’t have an end goal weight so I’m just going one day at a time. Sorry.. no point to this post ... just talking. Would love to continue chatting up December kids though!
  25. 2 Months post-op and still getting used to this whole process. But what I’ve realized is that I am slowly learning that food and calories do not own me and it’s a great feeling!! I have been on diets for many years and for a looong time, I refused to make dinner or cook anything for my family. I look cooking and learning new recipes but I would put myself on such strict diets and the need to count everything that was going in, that the thought of cooking and having to taste the food to make sure it was good would send me into an anxiety tailspin. I would either not taste it and sometimes the food would not be great or I would obsess and end up eating half of it. So because of that, I just refused to cook and would argue with my husband at times about it. Well, since getting sleeved I have been cooking pretty much everyday or every week [emoji16]I’m sure it’s more mental than anything but bc I know I have the restriction I don’t fear the thought of tasting my food and trying to make sure it tastes the best for my family. And if I want some (now that I can have most foods) I eat a bit and I’m satisfied. For me definitely a victory since I feel more and more in control and that is a fabulous feeling!!!
