Syntrax Nectars are nice, I like all the fruit flavors and they're quite high protein. You should be able to drink clear broth as well, doesn't your program allow that on Clear liquids? You can add protein to it...I use GENEPRO unflavored protein and I can't detect it once I mix it into a beverage or food...what brand are you using? Another thing to consider is that maybe you're sensitive to the sweetener in your Protein Shakes? I hate both aspertame (not in a lot of protein) and sucralose (in virtually every flavored protein), so I switched to Genepro and use either stevia or monkfruit liquid to sweeten things.

I feel the need to inject my normal disclaimer about Genepro here. They *claim* to give you the "benefit" of 30 grams of protein in a 15 gram serving. But there have been no independent studies to verify this claim. So, I would take it with a grain of salt and still only count each serving as 15 grams toward my daily goal. If you ARE actually getting the benefit of more protein, then great! But if their claim turns out to be false, you could be coming in very low on your daily protein goals if you are relying heavily on Genepro to get there.
  3. I've done a lot of reading about GENEPRO GEN2 Protein powder and it seems like a terrific way to meet my protein goals each day. The company said it is tasteless and odorless and can be mixed in hot or cold foods. Has anyone used it? Is it actually tasteless? I have a really difficult time getting enough protein each day so this might be an answer. If you have used it what do you typically mix it with? Do you like it? Thanks for any input❗️ Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App

    Genepro Safe???

Ok, I heard about GENEPRO from this site. I have been using it post op but not long enough to have a real opinion on how good it is (even though it is pretty good dissolving into anything and tasteless) BUT I have been seeing posts saying it is not actually the amount of protein it claims. Besides that, has anyone ever heard or have any actual evidence that it is unsafe or dangerous to use? I appreciate any fact based information (not really interested in information about the amount of protein being misrepresented although I understand that is not ideal for people counting protein grams) Thank you!

    Genepro Safe???

I was using genepro and liked it didn't have a taste. But my NUT said stop!!! That it's impossible to have 30g of protein in one tablespoon. She strongly advised me to switch back to unjury unflavored. I like it I guess. I also like unjury chocolate. Pure protein is good too. I like switching it around Thanks Nancy

    Genepro Safe???

What would you suggest for unflavored protein powder for newly sleeved people imstead of Genepro? Im getting sleeved on Friday and now have no problem with Premier, but worried because so many people say their tastes have changed. I like being prepared.

    Help with protien

I really like the unflavored GENEPRO. I threw out almost a full container of unjury. I've been at goal a year and I still use it almost everyday in my coffee. I get it from Amazon.

    What soups?

    I like unjury and genepro
  9. Mrswrath, I could not stomach the protein drinks either. I ordered GENEPRO on of amazon,it is supposed to be odorless and tasteless, and it is for the most part. I mix it with swiss miss sugar free hot cocoa and it is definetely easier to get down. in phase 3 I got to start making it with skim milk instead of water, even better!

    Damn protein!

There are a few brands of Greek, Icelandic, or Bulgarian yogurt that are high in protein, low in carbs, and tasty. Fage is readily available at most grocery stores and Target. Trader Joe's has a plain Greek yogurt that is excellent, but you have to be careful to check the labels and make sure you're picking up the right one because they make several, and some don't have as favorable protein to carb ratios. Plain, unsweetened kefir also makes a good base, as does Fairlife milk which is higher in protein than most other brands. I began making smoothies using a high-protein dairy as a base with some lower-carb frozen fruit like raspberries. Acai is also lovely. Del Monte has no sugar added fresh peach cups that only have 12 carbs and are excellent in smoothies. Trader Joe's makes frozen sweet potatoes cubes that actually have less carbs than fruit, and I'll add a couple of them to a smoothie with milk and cinnamon. I also have made smoothies using unsweetened cocoa, PB2 or Peanut Butter, ice, and high-protein milk. Dr. Matthew Weiner is a bariatric surgeon who has recommended the "set point smoothies" to patients. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5MxZYAwzPuk When I was really struggling to meet my protein goals, GENEPRO gave me a boost. It is flavorless, odorless, and dissolves very well into hot or cold liquids, as well as into applesauce, yogurt, Soup, and the like. Some are rightfully dubious about the claims that it has 30 grams of protein for a tiny serving, and I wouldn't recommend it as a primary source of protein. I only used it for supplemental purposes. I cannot have whey protein, and most plant-based Proteins were unpalatable to me. You can buy it on Amazon.

All I want to do is cheat on my diet

I can't stand the shakes because I'm really not a big fan of sweets. I just moved on to the soft solids stage of my diet and the hard part for me is separating liquids from meals. I reccomend Genepro protein powder because a tiny scoop is 30g of protein. You can put it in just about anything and it's amazing! And when you advance your diet there is a keto version of pretty much everything you crave. Hang in there! Sent from my SM-G950U using BariatricPal mobile app

    OCTOBER 2014

I have been getting my extra protein in by eating yogurt two times a day with a scoop of Genepro protein added to it. This was the only way that I could get it in. I don't like the shakes or the protein bars. I try to eat a little beef jerky during the day as well. Protein has been a bit of a struggle for me.

I mixed the 2oz stage 1 baby bananas with 15 ml vitamins and 15g genepro. My doctor says that the protein supplements a drink also count toward the 60 ounces of liquid I need a day

    I'm struggling with muscle loss.

@@JodiT140 - @@OutsideMatchInside pretty much got it right. According to the makers of GENEPRO, they have reduced the size of the Protein molecule ala "Honey I Shrunk The Kids" magic. Then they say that what they really did was make a protein that absorbs so fast that it is "like" eating 30 grams of protein. Which again is horseshit. Another problem I have is that there is no verified independent study of the stuff. There are people on this board that swear by it because their blood test came back good after their 6 month or whatever. However unless you are talking more than a year, that could be from breaking down their own muscle tissue or the fact that they are getting the minimum needed from their diet to be in the normal range. Genepro is pretty much just BCAA's (amino acids that build proteins). That would leave protein markers in the bloodstream. But lets just say for a moment that it did exactly as it advertised. It gave you 30 grams of magical protein with only 90 calories. If you are trying to build muscle, believe it or not you are going to need the calories. You can't build new muscle tissue if you don't have enough raw material to prevent atrophy. Genepro would be of no use to anyone wanting to build muscle because it doesn't contribute to a caloric surplus.

    I'm struggling with muscle loss.

I'm losing muscle mass as well, but I knew I would. I get 80-90g of Protein daily, but with the calorie restriction it's inevitable that we're going to lose muscle mass. You just have to do what you can do mitigate it somewhat, and that's by getting 90g or more of protein and weight training. Sounds like you need to boost your protein intake a bit, I'd get some of the flavorless protein like GENEPRO and mix it with things like chili, etc... Or just a drink. It's 30g of protein in one TBSP serving, so it's a big help. Also, a VERY common misconception on this board is the "carbs are bad, mmkay?" They're not. In fact, a big part of the reason the body catabolizes muscle tissue for energy is a lack of other easy sources. Fat is not an easy source of energy for the body...it's the slowest place for it to pull energy from, actually. Before you lift, you should consume a good amount of carbs. Then protein after. Your body will pull energy from the carbs you ate, and use the protein for muscle maintenance. The good thing is, muscle has memory and when we reach our weight loss goals and can switch to a slight caloric surplus to add muscle mass, it will come back on more quickly than it would for someone who never had it.
  17. Wow you guys are prepared it's making me feel really bad. My surgery date 9/15. I just bought my Vitamins and GENEPRO on Amazon. I'm afraid to buy shakes because Everyone warns of change in taste and I'm the one with a sensitive stomach to begin with. Seeing you picture now have me freaking out . Protein Shakes

I'm not a argumentive person and don't claim to know everything, I have drinked Protein drinks for years, but after surgery I got where i could not gag another Protein shake down.....could not stand the after taste of Isopure and I tried a closet full of others. GENEPRO has been the best for me. I love it,....no after taste and I am able to get all of my protein in for the day. What works for me may not work for someone else. I was just trying to give a helpful hint to someone else going through this journey....which we are all here to help each other. I wish you the best.

    Protein Shakes

Ya know that term "apples to apples" ?? Well, that's how various companies out there get away with claims that just don't stand up to actual comparison. They make claims that are not actual side by side (apples to apples) comparisons. They claim how their products work differently and are therefore better and more effective with greater claims that aren't substantiated with actual independent data or research or any universally accepted labeling. Prime example as we all know......"diet pills" (not a single one actually works as claimed) I am always skeptical about any product's claims when there is considerable double talk about how differently their product is or works and yet they don't include actual side by side labeling or independent research to compare with other products. And while I certainly appreciate the individual reviews made by users of a product, I typically do not rely on those reviews as to whether a product is actually effective. At least not where the product's results are based in science and I have no idea of the reviewers credentials. Keep in mind people, we live in a society where the proverbial "disclaimer" is used in practically all aspects of our lives. It is meant to mislead. ie: "Information was obtained that suggests the person in custody actually committed the crime"........ (what information, from whom??? Suggests - not actual facts!! ) They don't have any actual facts, but it doesn't keep them from making unsubstantiated claims just to appear more knowledgeable. Here is a reply from another WLS site that throws out some valid points to consider....... "You cannot get 30 grams of Protein in a 15 gram serving. Not in our current universe. What they have done is process the crap out of whey protein, similar to how other failed companies have done in the past. The other companies failed because their claims were also bogus. They all revolve around a molecule they call a hexapeptide. The company throws around a lot of doubletalk, but you will not see a nutrition label the way you will on a reputable product. They have an asterisk next to the 30 gram figure that says "equivalent." That's because their 15 gram scoop only has 10 grams of whey protein. They claim it is "equivalent" to 30 grams of protein because their GENEPRO is absorbed three times better than "normal" whey protein. They have only their own marketing hype to make this claim. One of the things people seem to love about this product is that it dissolves so well compared to other whey powders. Well, duh. You are only dissolving 10 grams of whey, not 30, so of course it dissolves better. Take one third of your usual powder and see how well it dissolves. It will look like magic too.The other big problem with Genepro is that they claim to be absorbed in the upper part of the digestive tract. If you had RNY or DS this wouldn't do you any good.Unfortunately, people using this are thinking they are getting 30 grams of protein, when in reality they are getting only 10. That means the cost per gram is three times higher than you thought. Oh, and it could leave you malnourished to boot. As obese and formerly obese people, many of us have been victimized by fake science, false promises, and diets, gadgets and gizmos that don't work. There is no super food that will make us lose weight, and no super supplement that provides three times the nutrition that it possibly can." So.......does it work or not.....that is the question. I don't know. I'm just playing the devil's advocate here. Good luck

thanks ladies! @@Beni the doctor told me to go play the lotto lmao. the hematologists said the risk of bleeding out outweighs the risk of my clot not dissolving and they said no more blood thinners for me. they actually said it should dissolve faster now that my blood count is low. i just went for a walk to the post office to get my measuring bowl that i bought, i wasnt really measuring food now i am going to start. its funny i thought i was eating 2oz of cheese and after measuring it was only 1.5 lol. and i measured some salad and a lot of lettuce is like 1oz lol. beni, im on the same boat with you eating 2oz of food, it didnt concern my surgeon. i supplement with genepro and a water/juice concoction. they also want me to get 90 grams of protein now instead of 70, blah looks like 2 concoctions and 30 grams towards food throughout the day to make it.

    Where are the November Sleevers?

One month out tomorrow. Doing well. Big adjustment. Lost 12 lbs week one, another 6 week 2, another 9 past two weeks. 25 lbs so far. Weight loss slowed when I started cottage cheese. I added tuna a few days early I needed something more substantial. The fake creamy Soups were horrible. Adding GENEPRO to my favorite broth and crystal light gets my Protein in. But I have 3 meals of yogurt, protein coffee drink, tuna or lunch meat. I had a scrambled egg tonight and it was heaven. Kaiser said none for eight weeks but my surgeon told me yesterday that it was okay. Finding it difficult to get the Vitamins in because all the chewables and liquids I got make me sick. I was so afraid I wouldn't be able to take regular pills I got everything I could chewable or liquid. Yuk. I'm working on it. Thankfully I can drink Water with almost no restriction The problem is making sure I stop enough time to eat. Not quite getting in my 64 ounces but it's just because of timing. It's such a big adjustment not knowing how much to eat. I'll eat three or four bites of something and then when I have another all the sudden it hurts. I have not found when to stop? It's not like they're large amounts i'm not sure how or when you can actually sit and eat a small meal. Sometimes I wonder if it will ever be possible. I just make sure I don't go out where other people are eating because eating a few bites is strange. So the one recommendation I have is to take a few bites very slowly. I still have a tendency I think to eat faster than I should and you will get pain if you do. Walking 1 to 2 miles a day. Hoping for the best .

    OCTOBER 2014

Yay!! Sounds delicious!! I bought some tiny little tupperware bowls that are about 1 cup. Love them! I'm enjoying a 1 egg omelet with the genepro unflavored protein ( i also love this stuff! Much better than the Unjur.y unflavored!) I also added a sprinkled of freshly shredded cheese. ( I don't use the packaged shredded anymore, after I read that they add a sawdust type material to it. Ick!) Mmmmm. So good!

    OCTOBER 2014

It dawned on me at about 2AM this morning that I forgot to buy more eggs last night. So I started to panic, "What am I going to make for Breakfast?" Normally I'd just go to Subway and get a breakfast sandwich, LOL..but that's not happening now! So I had 1 yogurt left, threw that in my little Ninja with about 4oz of OJ and a few frozen strawberries and my GENEPRO unflavored protein. It took me a good 45 mins to get it down, but it really was yummy! My belly didn't like the cold so much at first. But I'd hold it in my mouth a few seconds and then swallow, LOL! For lunch, I'm having pureed chicken breast that I make last night. (added a little mayo and a spoon of veggie cream cheese--yum!!) and some pureed cauliflower and mashed taters. Barely getting the taters and cauliflower down though. I'm stuffed! I've heard about that cauliflower pizza crust, I've always wanted to try it too! I totally agree--some toast would be amazing. My 21yr old daughter and I were chatting on the phone today talking about Thanksgiving plans and I can't stop thinking of stuffing!!
  25. Has anyone figured out how to utilize GenePro protein powder and not have your foods taste like a chemical lab experiment?! 🤷🏼‍♀️😂
